    I HATE this game. HATE, HATE, HATE it. Nothing but unrelenting twitch combo moves. No time to breath or recover during action sequences, even at the easiest level. Complete frustration.

    For calibration purposes: * I'm in my 50's, but play a lot of PS4 games * Loved Witcher 3, Assassins Creed Origins, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, God of War, etc. * Love open world games in general.    I HATE this game. HATE, HATE, HATE it. Nothing but unrelenting twitch combo moves. No time to breath or recover during action sequences, even at the easiest level. Complete frustration.

    No sneaking or different strategies here, just full-on speed and combo moves. That's this game.

    HATE this game. I wish I'd bought it on DVD so I could have some resale value. I wish there was a way to gift it to someone. Couldn't even make it through the first boss level without yelling curses at the damn TV. HATE this game.

    More power to ya if you're half my age and like this sort of thing. I can understand that. Reflexes get slower as you age, which is why I don't play PVP anymore. But I sure as hell wish I'd seen warnings about the gameplay when reading all of the glowing reviews, before I paid full price for this.    … Expand

    This game is a solid 8 due to it's gorgeous graphics, smooth webswinging, great story and spidy rpg progression. The only things that hold it back are very poor wall crawling and lack of variety in enemies. People that are supposed to be just regular human that can follow a super hero's amazing agility with their punches and aim kind of negate the fantasy of being a super hero a bit.     A masterpiece.
    Everything is how it should be.
    Heck..its even better than the garbage,which is Homecoming,where everything is f***ed up- Starting from Peter as himself and Spider-Man, to all characters that go with the movie.
    Also,the story made me wish that the writers from the game take on the next movie and fix Spider-Man.

    This game is very good, but has a lot of bugs, the camera should be better, and when you dodge it doesn't work every time. Besides that the game is very very similar to Batman Arkham Knight, almost a copy. The story is good and the graphics are crazy.

    Absolutely stellar game, it has never felt better to be Spider-Man, the detail and immersion is absolutely incredible. It is thankfully not an origin story and is full of wonderful Marvel lore. The combat is insanely rewarding and keeps you on your toes, it can be easy to get overwhelmed so you need to keep on your toes. Outside of combat I've never had a game with fast travel that wasAbsolutely stellar game, it has never felt better to be Spider-Man, the detail and immersion is absolutely incredible. Trying to do it the fastest, or rooftop jumping, staying as low to the ground as possible, there are so many paths you can take, and sometimes, just wandering the streets shooting finger guns at people and high-fiving fans. The story is incredible, it has a slow creep but it kept me rapt doing an amazing job of being true to form for Peter Parker and letting you feel not just the big "I must save the world" but giving him real humanity.     The story is engaging and emotional. The combat is super fun. The graphics looks amazing. Only downside is the check list type of side activities.

    Good:
    - Story: Insomniac really did well in writing the characters (especially Peter, MJ, Aunt May, etc.), villains, plot twist and storytelling.
    - Web Slinging: I had a ton of fun with this because it feels realistic, and I was not bored with it (to the point I only used Fast Travel like once or twice only). Also no fall damage is working really well in this game. - Combat: not so hard    Good:
    - Story: Insomniac really did well in writing the characters (especially Peter, MJ, Aunt May, etc.), villains, plot twist and storytelling.
    - Web Slinging: I had a ton of fun with this because it feels realistic, and I was not bored with it (to the point I only used Fast Travel like once or twice only). Also no fall damage is working really well in this game.
    - Combat: not so hard but not so easy as well (even in the hardest difficulty) so it was not frustrating at all and will still give you a challenge. Using different gadgets makes the game more fun as well.
    - 30 FPS will not cause a problem at all. In addition, the frame rate was stable.
    - It has a great photo mode.

    Bad:
    - Slightly repetitive random crimes, and challenges.
    - No day night circle.

    Honestly, there are SO MANY good aspects in this game that I have forgotten and not written. Also, I feel that this game is more like 9.5 for me, but I will gladly rate it 10 so it will have a higher average review    … Expand

    This is the start of what looks to be an amazing series of Spider Man games by Insomniac. Gameplay is perfect. Everything from Combat to swinging. You never get bored of just swinging around New York even if you're not doing anything else. Side activities such as stopping crime can get a bit repetitive but that can be overlooked.     This is one of those rare games that made me want to do and see everything. I bought this game on release and played it non-stop for about a week and I did EVERYTHING there is do to in the game, and I want more.

Loads of collectibles and side missions to do that are just as fun to do as the main story missions. And a great plus the game looks fantastic, graphics are top notch!

    Insomniac knocked it out of the park with this one. So much love and passion went into this, you can really tell they had a blast making this game. This is by far the best way to experience Spider-Man so if you are a Spidey fan, do yourself a favor and pick this game up ASAP!    … Expand

    Incredible game. Simple and fun combat, amazing pacing, a Spider-man story that actually moves things along with him as a character and the story, and a perfect length. 10/10 web swinging as well

    Absolutely loved it im surprised how much i got invested into the story and it combines so well with the awesome gameplay. slightly repetitive later on but the story and gameplay just keeps on getting better as you go

    Best Spider-Man game ever made? You bet! One of the best Sony exclusives? Definitely.

    Marvel's Spider-Man is a treat from start to finish. A definitive 10/10 title. Insomniac knocked it out of the park, especially for fans of the character. Here's to a sequel in the future!

It really isn't this game is truly AMAZING.

    The game story is fantastic. All the main characters are fleshed out and likeable. The main villains you understand their motives. This game feels like a Spider-man movie in that aspect where you see the main villains and they aren't just evil for because they can be. What this game also does is something the Amazing Spider-man movies wished for; the Sinister Six. They are done well in my opinion the reason is because they start you out as adult Spider-man so you don't have six rushed villain backgrounds they are already evil and hate him. I personally always liked adult Spidey more so this story was set during a perfect time. The only issue with the story I have is the third act seemed a bit rushed. It wasn't bad I think they could've made it a little longer so I had more time dealing with the enemies vs how they did it. (I have to be vague for spoiler reasons) The actually ending however was twisty and fantastic. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster.

    The gameplay is fantastic... as Spider-man. Spider-man plays similar to the Batman Arkham games but more fast paced. The different abilities and types of web make the gameplay lasting and never tedious. They change up the enemy types to keep you dodging, dipping, ducking, and dodging. The boss fights are cinematic and unique in each encounter. The villains they chose for this are so different you have to learn how to beat each one while fighting them. There is not just one way to beat every enemy in it. The sad thing about this game is you don't just play Spidey. This is where the game doesn't get a perfect score is because it has some problems. My biggest issue was the bit where you play Mary Jane sneaking around trying to get info on enemies. It isn't hard, but nor is it fun. They also have many tedious puzzles that are just there for time. The main one is a pipe dream style of mini-game that anyone can do. If you are a completionist this game is for you. They have so many collectables, side quest, random crimes, enemy lairs, and side quest where you find collectables it's unreal. I don't mind any of that because none of it is mandatory. I dare you not to do them though because swinging around as Spider-man is just too much damn fun.

    Overall the game has a couple of flaws, but those are miniscule compared to how good majority of the game is. I loved playing this, and had a hard time putting it down I have to give this a HIGH BUY. If you own a PS4 you should be playing this.    … Expand

    For the first time in my life i saw a great game from Spider-Man !!! It has a great story and shocking .
    But it was real problem ... Sub-steps !!! It was so boring and i hope to fix that in Spider-Man 2

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Definitely the best superhero game I have played to date. I have to admit that it's addicting as hell and after getting 100% completion and the secret photo ops for the ESU suit, i WANT MORE! This feeling originates from the enormous amount of filler content provided by the game, which while somewhat fun to do, still is too reminiscent of Far Cry busy work. Certain parts of the game, like forced stealth sequences as alternative characters while not long, felt somewhat unnecessary. I do understand their story purpose though. My big complaint are the boss fights, which are not mechanically diverse at all. I'm a big fab of Bayonetta and DMC, so when it comes to bosses in action games I feel like insomniac could have done better. Stun, press triangle, do 5 hits, repeat is not the worst thing in the world but it's a bit too simplistic. Even on the hardest difficulty i didn't have to restart any fights except Doc 3 times. Game is a million times better than Batman Arkham series, but in the grand total of things it's an 8 from me. Put DANTE IN NEXT TIME lol (I'm joking of course)… Expand

    Amazing. The detail in the city is crazy and traversing via web slinging is incredibly fun and smooth. The combat takes a bit to figure out and even some of the street crimes can be a challenge until you learn the rhythm of how to fight individual enemy types. But it's really satisfying once you do. My only ask is that they make it for VR ... that would be sensational.

    Enjoying the fuild motion in combat and web slinging. NYC city looks beautiful and i love the characters. Controls took some getting used to but i got it down.

    - good story (it takes a little time to develop though) - swinging/parkour mechanics are excellent - developers absolutely nailed this. - combat is fun (at first confusing, but with time one can chain precise combos - it requires a bit of skill to stay undamaged adding challenge) - great attention to detail - anyone who is a spiderman    Very good game!     - MJ's stealth sections are tiring (not difficult, just unnecessary)
    - open world is a little shallow - repetitive NPC's, no natural day/night cycle (mission specific and require loading screens). It is nowhere near as deep as GTAV for instance.
    - puzzles are too frequent and too easy (can be skipped thank god)

    Overall well worth a buy if you like spiderman and/or liked the Arkham games    … Expand

    There are myriad good reasons why Marvel's Spider-Man is the best-selling and highest-rated Spider-Man title in years. While it has a few glaring flaws, they pale in comparison to all of the things the team at Insomniac got right. A well-acted, strong story serves as the backbone for an experience that just plain feels right for Spider-Man, and fans and newcomers alike won't be disappointed by this trip to the Spider-verse.

    This game does for Spider-Man what the Arkham series did for Batman. Immensely satisfying movement system, excellent combat, fast pace, superb visuals and wealth of side activities converge to bring a wonderful experienced, diluted only by some minor missteps in the story and a couple of stealth sequences where you control supporting characters instead of Spidey.
