It's not Insomniacs best but it was pretty alright. My biggest issue with the game is that it's a bit too 'wholesome' for my tastes which makes it a bit bland. The gameplay loop is also fine but just not anything special.

Plays like an average Ubisoft game but with better graphics, a decent story, and no micro-transactions. Overrated.

The game is fun and exciting especially at the beginning. Combat is mostly clean and everything, the only things I don’t enjoy are Puzzles, Mj missions, miles missions, not being able to skip those. You get to skip some puzzles but not all. I love fighting in this game, the story is pretty average. The characters are dull except for Peter, even though they don't have to came up with anyone, but somehow.

A beautiful story with great Web slinging held back by simplistic combat, repetitive and uninteresting boss fights, terrible side content and a rushed third act that wastes the promising premise shown by the other 2 acts

Amazing game, but not in every inch. Swinging between the buildings in Manhattan feels very good, but side missions can be repetitive after the 10th battle.

This game is the pure definition of mediocre. The story and boss fights carry this game hard. Web slinging is cool and fun for a couple of hours, but then becomes mind-numbing nonsense. The stealth sections are generally fine and not as bad as people say. I took an eight-month break because I was so bored with this game. When I came back, I had a pretty good time, but that is only because I got the MEAT of Spider-Man. The last 4-5 hours are pure fan service and an absolute blast. Unfortunately, after the game was over, I played the DLC and was massively disappointed. I was reminded why I stopped playing in the first place and soured my experience with the game. Overall, this is probably the most overrated game I've ever played. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. its too short has pretty poor writing and only like 3 of the outfits are good such as the black cat one over all i just didn't care much about the game the best parts are the black cat and the harry side stuff the main story on the other hand is pretty bad

Gameplay wise its just a boring/easy button masher like games like god of war and those overrated Batman arkham games, webswinging and wall climbing can be pretty bad at times as well, pretty much try to stay away from the sides of buildings as its pretty janky.

Character wise there okay aside from aunt May that is, she's so **** dumb and i'm glad she died nothing to really say about other characters tho there all pretty much fine nothing good or bad about them really.

Story wise it's too short and none of the stories connect with each other and the side missions are better then the main plot which was pretty awkward to play in a post covid world.

This review is going to be blunt and straight to the point. Marvel's Spider-Man is about as deep as a creek. It’s a very pretty and polished creek that I had fun splashing around in. This review is going to be blunt and straight to the point. Marvel's Spider-Man is about as deep as a creek. It’s a very pretty and polished creek that I had fun splashing around in. But it’s still just a creek.

Web slinging and combat is basic. Good looking but dull open world with a list chores to complete. It’s bloated and too long. Story and characters are just fine but not memorable. You can’t really blame Insomniac though. With a character this important and a budget this big it is not surprising they played it safe and kept things a bit bland and easy. They would have had people watching this game very closely and people would have been breathing down their neck if anything went wrong.

It is still a fine game with many moments of fun. The action sequences and cut scenes are well done. As I said it is highly polished and looks good. I can’t lie as well there is something about these bland open world checklist/collectathons that my brain enjoys on a very basic level. But this probably isn’t a good thing and we shouldn’t be settling for games like this. At the same time though if people just want a big, simple, shallow, fun, blockbuster game I’m not going to stand in the way or be too critical. If you really like this and think it’s fantastic then you do you and enjoy yourself.

Marvel's Spider-Man is well made and a decent distraction. I would recommend giving it a play through especially if you’re into Spiderman. I just hope that one day a developer tries something really cool and risky with the Spiderman universe and combat.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't go in here expecting a masterpiece of storytelling; it was a fun game and that is it.
The swinging is by far the best part about this game. All the side missions are just going to a location to beat up some bad guys, which is satisfying, but very repetitive. Spider-Man stealth missions like at the grand central terminal are the strongest ones, since they force the player to take another approach to fighting enemies. Stealth missions where you play as MJ or Miles are awful; I see the developers' objective of making you feel powerless in an intense situation, but it really doesn't work when the player could be playing as Spider Man elsewhere.
The story is passable enough to keep the player invested for the first 2 acts of the game. For these 2 acts, the story is about Mister Negative filling the power vacuum left by Fisk's imprisonment at the beginning of the game. Throughout this part of the game, it is repeated to the player that Otto Octavius has a grudge against Osborn. This is never properly explored, nor is it even a primary focus for the first 2 acts. It seemed like the writers wanted Doc Oc to be the villain, so they forced a mental breakdown for Octavius in the 3rd act and backseated Mister Negative, leaving this act disconnected from the rest of the game.

An otherwise great game held back by playing as any character othee than Spider-Man (Mary Jane, Miles Morales). Also strange that this game decided to make Mary Jane feel less like Mary Jane and more like Lois Lane.

Swinging through the city is cool; however, the Controls are very frustrating during timed missions where precision is important. Targeting in combat is laughable with multiple enemies and most enemies have a shield of some sort and are extremely numerous. Wall climbing and releasing from walls is poorly implemented. Game play is smooth (no bugs) except Camera can be atrocious at times. And its not a game that inspires me to play it on new game +. It is repetitive beyond belief. More story and less repetition would have earned it a much better score.

Spider-Man perfectly translates the comic book character's iconic powers to the videogame format: swinging around Manhattan feels extremely fluid and intuitive, and during battle the free-flow combination of ground and aerial combos, web shooting, throwing, dodging and counter-attacking grants the player an impressive strategic freedom. The fluid animations allow for smooth, malleable combos, chaining wide varieties of attacks together, as the webs allow your surroundings to become an active element of combat thanks to deeply rewarding environmental interactions. Regrettably, the game's various gadgets and power-ups unlocked throughout the adventure are mere extensions of already-established powers or provide extremely minor changes to combat's flow. Because of this, as great as it is, combat is stagnant and starts to feel repetitive towards the end of the campaign. The game world does an amazing job at recontextualizing the iconic characters and villains, establishing a new spider-man universe through both the main story and optional content: collectibles and side-quest might feel redundant at times, but do a great job at exploring the background of this peter parker and delineate this world's history, just as the crimes throughout the city, although a little repetitive and overly present, immerse the player in the role of super-hero. The story stays beautifully true to the spirit of the character, merging peter parker and spider-man's lives to craft an emotional story about hope and selflessness that involves both worlds and their intertwining struggles, with the player often taking control of the non-human characters to expand on the setting and immerse the player in the narrative. Alas, from a gameplay standpoint these segments are tremendously bland and simplistic, interrupting the experience's flow with abysmally tedious stealth sections. They are the game's weakest parts alongside boss fights: easy, repetitive and formulaic, only the last ones become decently layered and challenging enough to be engaging.

The most generic and boring AAA Sony game of 2010's. Outdated open world structure, primitive and short plot, followed by lazily made side quests, (mostly) unlikable characters with repetitive boring fights. I'd prefer to play Batman: Arkham Knight any day instead of this one.

You're probably here for the movement: the main draw to a 'Spider-Man' game will always be the ability to swing from rooftop to rooftop, and this really does make the most of that with how drawn out its missions are, how much they make you use it, and how much it overshadows pretty much everything else about the game. It's well and good you can soar through Manhattan seamlessly, but it sucks that the micro movements suffer because of it - at times you'll have issues doing something as simple as jumping up a ledge as Peter Parker is so obsessed with doing flips that he physically cannot stop himself. Other times you'll be busy fighting you're 90th horde of Saber officers, or escaped prisoners and realise that the gameplay is getting stale, but you're only halfway through the story mode. This is not a bad game, but at its best its a Spider-Man open game sim which shows what could be so much more in the future. Expand

There are myriad good reasons why Marvel's Spider-Man is the best-selling and highest-rated Spider-Man title in years. While it has a few glaring flaws, they pale in comparison to all of the things the team at Insomniac got right. A well-acted, strong story serves as the backbone for an experience that just plain feels right for Spider-Man, and fans and newcomers alike won't be disappointed by this trip to the Spider-verse.

This game does for Spider-Man what the Arkham series did for Batman. Immensely satisfying movement system, excellent combat, fast pace, superb visuals and wealth of side activities converge to bring a wonderful experienced, diluted only by some minor missteps in the story and a couple of stealth sequences where you control supporting characters instead of Spidey.
