Even though there are flaws in the multiplayer offering, the single player mode gives more than enough bang for your buck. Pixel-perfect control, fast action, and plenty of events to take part in mean that Mantis Burn Racing isn’t far away from arcade racing perfection.

Outside of a sub-par soundtrack, Mantis Burn Racing is the finest overhead racer in years. It combines skillful racing with a level of excitement that is usually absent from the sub-genre.

What lets it down is the lack of variety in design. [Dec 2016, p.80]

Mantis Burn Racing is a fun yet slightly shallow racing game. It's a decent alternative for those who don't feel like getting too investing in a deep racing sim and are just looking for an easy to play arcade racer.

With its beautifully tuned handling, great graphics, and surprisingly deep career mode, Mantis Burn Racing is an enjoyable and entertaining top-down racer. The only thing that really lets it down is its rather limited track selection, which results in the game becoming a little repetitive as you progress through later levels.

Mantis Burn Racing is a good example of the kind of arcade style racing that we wish was still popular. It has a lot to offer, if it can only get an audience, and while it may end up being more of a single player experience, the handling and track design make this a very worthwhile purchase for arcade racing fans.

The fundamentals here are spot on. The racing itself is fun and fast-paced, and the upgrading system works well to keep you coming back for a good few hours. It's just unfortunate that pretty much everything else doesn't quite measure up. The music, the environments, and the presentation all fall behind.

Played it ~1h with a friend. Single Player Campaign was quite boring and to linear for me.

We are old nerds so we constantly compared this game to "Super Cars II" and "Micro Machines" on the Commodore Amiga - not fair I know because this game did not plan to copy this.

It is a solid game in terms of controls, gfx, sounds. But for us it felt lifeless, to steril.

You can play it for a couple of hours casually and go on with your life.

It a well made game but it is just too boring. Needs some kind of interesting gimmick or hook to make me want to do this vanilla racing. There is just no power-ups or any sense of speed. Not worth the price. Full Review »

Bought this game because Micro Machines was fun.

But this game could be Micro Machines if it was targeted as a online game with single player. But it ain't, to get games in online lobbies is rare with hardly anyone online. Making this game mainly a single player game and most single player games are boring rinse and repeat affairs, just like this one. Average game that could of been so different.
