    What can I say, the game has failed to deliver yet again. The blocking ai is complete unrealistic, I can block 7 people while my opponent rushes 2 and he will still get pressure. There are times when you are making a big play downfield and your fellow wr is refusing to block and walking around as if he was on the sideline. The defense this year is non existent. They added features back into franchise mode that were there ten years ago and pretend as if it is something new but it is still glitched and poorly done with players such as Colin kaeperinick in the game being rated higher than offensive rookie of the year Justin Herbert even though he hasn't played in an NFL game in over 5 years. The pass leading is horrendous with wide open drag routes resulting in interceptions. This is an animation based game with predetermined outcomes before the ball even gets within 30 yards of the reciever which results in poor gameplay. A 5'10 corner will regularly out jump a 6'5 wide reciever. Madden gets worse and worse every year and it's honestly sad if John Madden knew what this game has become he would not allow his name to be on the title anymore. We need 2k to have an NFL license again because until there is healthy competition this game will continue to regress. Ea has no incentive to produce a better game because they are making BILLIONS off people who are addicted to ultimate teams and will continue to do so.… Expand

    Is it good? No. Is it better than all the other frostbite engine Maddens? Yes. And it's the only way to play football with 17 game seasons and 14 team playoffs.

This madden is the exact same as 21 and 20, only thing added was the franchise formats change which is stolen from NHL, the game play isn’t good. Face of the franchise isn’t good. They clearly don’t care about the community. I can’t buy this game anyone it’s only going to get worse. It only freezes on my ps4 the actual games aren’t entertaining. But what is important to them is their Spongebob stadiums with DJ Khaled and Snoop Dogg? It's the money they care about.     Played the trial and i’m glad because i won’t be spending $60 on this, madden 21 was horrible and this game is equal maybe very very slightly better and still full of so many glitches. Not even their beloved ultimate team is safe from bugs where i had to keep restarting the app every time i finished a challenge because when i pressed continued it froze. Franchise was overhyped to be greatPlayed the trial and i’m glad because i won’t be spending $60 on this, madden 21 was horrible and this game is equal maybe very very slightly better and still full of so many glitches.     Is anyone surprised at this point. The "new" coaching tree is just a reshuffled version of the previous xp system, except now you've got a few more coaches to "upgrade". LOL. How does that even make sense? The coaches in the NFL are already top level, who is upgrading at this point? LOL.

Whatever boosts you get or don't get, whatever, it doesn't matter on the field. Just use "Shallow Y Cross" play and win win win baby! Or just run up the middle and watch the moronic DL get sucked into blocking animations as you prance by. Otherwise they will somehow warp over to you and make a tackle like they invented teleportation. LOL! What a train wreck. On defense, you will get no pash rush as usuall unless you take control of a lineman yourself. The rest of the team just gets tied up in block animations. Doesn't matter if you have all 99 rated pash rushers. They can't even beat a 70 rated OL, and they can't stop the run ever. On the flip side, the cpu never seems to have that problem, as their x factor DT will blow up the center on every run play you try. It's comical at this point. It's more like NFL Blitz than an actual football simulation. Running backs still can't cut properly and they still do that semi truck like turn right into an unblocked Linebacker. My god, it's bad and it's not getting better. Not that EA cares, cuz they are making mega money of gambling addicted teens you are jacking up their parents credit cards every month for that diamond whoever superstar.

    Furthermore, nothing you do in this game matters. I can easily win with a 65 rated QB and a trash OL. None of the ratings matter since everything is predetermined by canned animations. I have 75 rated WR making unbelievable 1 handed catches without a problem. The X factors at this point are tired too. They don't seem to affect the game too much. The strategy boosts you get during the weekly practices are hardly noticeable. Just another "new" shallow game mechanic. The "new" scouting that is coming is just ripped from NHL. Man, what can you say? This game exists for Ultimate team players and that's it.

    The last good Maddens that came out were 10 and 12. That's how long this game has sucked now. What a disgrace. Can we get a damn football game please? Look at how much 2k packs into their basketball game. I'm not saying that game is perfect, but it does have a ton of features that should be standard in sports games.    … Expand

The interaction between DB and WR is the same horrible script it has alway been. Zone and Man coverages still broken after ten + years.     First of all, I‘d like to point out the positive fact, that EA has reacted to their community by apparently trying to improve their Franchise mode. Hashtags such as #fixmaddenfranchise were trending and it is good to see them actually responding to this.

    However, the only difference you can actually feel in this game, is the different layout of menus and little additions such as the homefield advantage. This community desperately asks for a more in depth customization of their playing experience. The staff options are decent, but they were not even among the top 5 additions, that this community frequently asks for. I understand that EA or the NFL has concerns about customization aspects, such as creating a team with jerseys or adding tattoos. Yet these are the little things, that are possible on a technical side and EA had this stuff in their games over a decade ago.

    To summarize my point: it‘s the same game as every year, with some different menus. The gameplay and graphics changes are hardly noticable. Their "additions“ simply can‘t change the fact, that you get bored after less then a single season in Franchise Mode. Safe your money guys and lets just hope that the upcoming NCAA will simply copy everything they had in 2014 with better graphics. It‘s sad, but that would already be a huge improvement compared to every Madden after Madden 25. And if there is one wish I can ask for:

    Keep those Madden developers as far away from the NCAA-game as possible. Please EA, just do it for your community. It will be worth it.    … Expand

    Buggy and completely broken franchise mode. After every game even if I win 31-17, it gives me the loss 17-0. This happened twice in a row and apparently is happening to tons of people in franchise mode. This is so basic. Did they test it at all? The answer is likely, no. Please give up the rights EA.

    It's easy to tell that the developer lack passion for this game. The changes are microscopic. Until EA attempts to compete with NBA 2k "MY NBA" (a franchise mode that has everything you could desire) it will be a failure. It's very disappointing.

    EA, you have lost the trust, faith, appreciation, and respect from even your most loyal fans such as myself by your true lack of care, greed, and true effort of attempting to take advantage of your customers since Madden 13 came out. I said enough was enough when Madden 21 came out and ever since I have refused to buy this game because that would mean I would support the very company I have grown to despise so much by buying their product. Leaders in our community such as Ryan Moody have helped people such as myself learn the truth about EA and their exclusive (Monopoly) license with the NFL and if we want a good simulation football game ever again then we must fight back against the evil EA Sports. Join the cause by not buying Madden 22 and together we can help companies such as 2K get bank to doing what they do best. We can win the fight people, just continue to remain strong and determined. In emphasis if you buy Madden you are part of the problem. If you don’t buy Madden you are being a true part of the solution. It’s not hard, and it certainly isn’t complicated.     I mean what can be said that hasn’t already. Game AI is still broken, franchise is literally the same experience with an extremely shallow “hire and fire coaches” feature. I was seriously looking forward to this game. Madden is broken, and little changes aren’t going to fix it. It needs to be redone from the ground up

Gameplay is completely rng animation based; so it’s more like a Telltale game where you chose a play, set up pre snap, then click a button and hope for the rng animation to be in your favor. And zones are completely broken. One play touchdowns in bunch constantly. Please stopFor the 10th year in a row, this game was released with a ton of bugs and glitches without improving gameplay.     While the RyanMoody21 and SoftDrinkTv YouTube channels exposes just how fake fixed & garbage this game is. Allow me to explain further on this monopoly.

    The game is designed to keep you online as much as possible to increase the odds that you will spend money. Its best exploit is by not matching you up against players of your skill level or simply anyone, but they make sure that you play who they want you to play AND when you play, EA will help the team that they want to win. Why? I've never heard anyone explain this yet, but if EA can keep everyone's record close to even, everyone will think that spending money to attempt to get just another player or 2 that they will be able to dominate and tip the scales on their winning percentage. It never works that way though. You still win the same amount. Your new player will perform like a true champion but other players will be slacking. The new players play hard for a month when released and then EA slows them down which makes you want to upgrade again and then you find yourself paying EA again.
    There's a number of different types of crypto currencies in the game except this is not able to be cashed in ever. It just serves to get you to again reach for your wallet.

    All of the different game modes that were a part of Madden and the fun things you could do before Ultimate Team took off are gone. You can play without Ultimate Team but Ultimate Team is EAs ONLY focus with the game.

    EA puts out a pre-order edition every year but it's never based around Madden but particularly the ultimate team mode. Every load screen is another attempt to try luring you to ultimate team mode. Right now, you can win but this is the early access period. In just a few days, as sure as always, EA will change up the online matchmaking. At that point, go check all your friends records. You can do this all the way back to Madden 15 and what you will see is that everyone wins 45 to 63% of their games.
    Save your money. The game will be free in no time. Actually EA is already giving the game away for free. Here's how: go on Twitter and type in #MaddenNFL22 or #Madden22. You'll find endless people saying that they are giving away codes to download the game for free. Those codes are coming straight from EA because only they can produce them. This is yearly. They don't care about selling the game. They want you in ultimate team so they can make tons more from you via microtransactions. Madden 21 was the worst Madden I played, until I got my hands on 21.1 this year. I played the 10 hour trial, cause honestly, there's seriously no point in giving this company my money when I have no vested interest in Ultimate Team or The Yard or Superstar KO or any of the other gimmicky modes they've pumped in during the time it has taken them to neglect Franchise Mode to where now it's a glorified Season Mode that they're still working on. Only there's no real way to tell when the work will be done, or what specifically is being worked on.

    The lone positive I will say about Season Mode 2.0 is that they polished off their League History tab going all the way back to I believe 1980. When that's the only positive you have at this stage of the game, you've got NOTHING. This mode which once upon a time was this game's bread & butter, is next to nothing now. Now they're trying add a bunch of stuff from NHL, which is destined to fail. The other problem this game runs into. Probably one of the biggest, it's an arcade game trying to add simulation aspects into it. Simply put, it's Skim Milk in video game form.

    They put coaching staffs back in the game, but there are NO LICENSED COORDINATORS. That's right, it's 2021 and this game doesn't have real coordinators in it. 10 years ago, Madden NFL 12 had real coordinators in it. It had gameplay which made ratings matter, with player roles that didn't get cancelled out because of some arcade gimmick known as X-Factors. EA hasn't cared about Franchise Mode since Madden NFL 12 and it has gotten progressively worse ever since the reboot 13 gave us which nobody asked for. Tying so much to specific in game tasks reeks of 'Busy Work', which this mode never did in its heyday.

    At the end of the day, EA's asking you to pay for a game that's at best a clone of last year's with a new coat of paint yet not much more than that. Commentary is mostly untouched from a year ago. Franchise hasn't been touched while it's essentially a new interface splashed on top of the same stuff from the last few years. (Really, they did a crap job in concealing this.) The changes EA's looking to make, won't be done with a slew of patches stretched out over the next handful of months. What is necessary to turn this around, is a full year to tear this down and start from scratch. The game has no refs present during actual gameplay, yet it has a 17th week in the regular season & one fewer preseason game. Like I said before, this game can't make its mind up what it wants to be. EA's locked in on its core audience, namely the MUT crowd so they feel comfortable dragging along the folks who play Franchise cause...

    A) They know there's no other NFL game other than past NFL titles on older systems.
    B) They're making solid coin off of the Ultimate Team crowd who have shown them it doesn't matter how bad the game is, they'll keep giving EA their money for packs on the regular.

    The MUT crowd is the biggest hinderance folks who love Franchise have presently. As long as EA can reliably count on them, this game is a done deal. This game isn't ready by a longshot with the botches, yet again, as long as the MUT folks find no fault in it...EA doesn't care. That's why I give this a 0 score. Cause we're well past the excuses stage for this company. They clearly don't care how badly we think this game is, which is why it's taking forever & a day for certifiable changes to come to what was its flagship mode. Not to mention gameplay which is heavy on the arcade with X-Factor involved, that pretty much invalidates the ratings they want you to think matters, when in reality they don't. EA wants us to trust them when they're well past that, they have nothing left to trade on in that department. Don't waste your time with this game. Play Madden 04-12 if you want that proper Franchise fix, cause it's not coming from Madden 21.1, err 22.    … Expand

    No innovation no customisation, "Create your own play" that is the type Thing that I was hoping for. Instead EA force feed "the Yard" which is clearly a Cash grab and I can feel it when I see this mode, Face of the Franchise which doesn't resonate with me personally. MUT cards and Packs and that stuff is the focus.

    Slightly better than Madden 21 because they brought back a bare bones coaching staff with coaching trees. However, there is still just so much wrong with this game. They copy and paste, but, do so badly. The game is sluggish, and it's do in part to errors like having the last several years background animation under the current animation. They did more this year because of how badly they were called out last year with a .2 user score. You can't create a team. There hasn't been new relocation teams for several years. It's just bad. On top of that, the developers mock and belittle customers. They block users that voice they don't like the game. EA sports will ignore critical responses.

    Like madden 2005,nfl 2k5 can produce football games and A.I.,that Play,and react appropriately(functioning to the degree that represents true football and the quality expected from the NFL Brand!Ea just released a half baked game,with recycled features from madden 08-12,and instead of breaking a broken game down and bringing us a complete and revamped football experience;Ea gave us the same game port,tweaked with completely busted defense,defensive Ai,the same ability for individual players to scan and make ridiculous int’s,many warped animations still,,defenders pass rushing through the gaps stopping at line of scrimmage,man coverage shot,zone shot, players responding to all of the wrong things on defense (or not at all),the ability to have to sit back and wait a month or two to be able to start and enjoy franchise,because scouting wasn’t ready and needs to be patched in at an unknown date!
    I mean the game doesn’t allow for any real football,the players simply don’t respond on defense,stop and glitch off animations and whatever mechanics built in,that won’t allow them do functions and intelligently respond effectively,so it’s an offerensige free for all!Physics are still suspect and need to be trashed,replaced for a totally new system(without the animations):perhaps a revamped game breaker physics system?!?!
    It’s utterly breathtaking that anyone that has internet service can go back and watch videos from madden 05 or nfl 2k5 and realize that defenses actually played,functioned,responded and reacted appropriately to their abilities etc,and the A.I.and gameplay back then were light years ahead of where we are currently with madden(being updated 1000 times yearly,and never getting a proper,fully functional game by the time the next years roster update!2021,Cant match gameplay of 2004?WTF!

    #NFLDROPEA only improvement is franchise got a little face lift but that doesn’t change the fact we had to wait 8 years for basic features. Gameplay is still terrible unreliable unrealistic robotic and chalk full of fluky animations. The most arcade nfl simulation on the market and the worst sports game of the last 10 years

    Madden has made so many great changes this year than they have for the past 7 games combined and they're all amazing. Madden took a huge step this year and will continue to build on it for years to come. Stop hating and saying they made no changes this when the literally made so many huge changes.

    This has to be the worse game of all time. It’s time madden stops taking our money for a new roster each year. That’s really all we buy it for because we always expect the same trash of a game with pay to win MUT mode. Franchise mode is terrible as always. The game is broken. No skill or football knowledge needed whatsoever. TRASH. Save your money and DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

    The game has not evolved since 2013 and keeps getting WORSE. How they constantly get worse every year I will never know. Maybe one day they will get competition and start putting out higher quality games, one can hope...

    Another year of horrible madden gameplay we thought 21 couldn’t get any worse but they went ahead and done it again the game is extremely buggy we where also promised the game isn’t animation based yet every play in this game os strictly animation that doesn’t even work correctly they just keep piling new features on top of a broken trash game

    This game is the same game as other maddens. This is a glitchy mess and EA doesn’t deserve you money. If you want to play a football game go play an older madden and update the rosters. This is a waste of your time and money!

    Not enough improvement to warrant the price tag. New menus are horrible to navigate, OC and DC inclusion is barebones, number of rookies added doesn't seem fleshed out (signing specific positions for practice squad is difficult) and game constantly crashes. Wait for the updates.

    New year, same old trash. Completely broken yet again. Three game seems to regress every single year. As soon as I started the game, I had players not showing up on the field, glitching through each other, random crazy ball physics, every single glitch in last year's game still seems to be present.

    This is just awful, like most things EA Sports touches. Madden has been a terrible franchise since 2013, and this is another game to add to the list. It is an exact clone of Madden 20, complete with the glitches, terrible animations, and unrealistic game play.
    But on the bright side, Ryan Moody is going to have another kick-ass year showcasing Madden glitches in all of their glory.

The Madden franchise community (except for people that only make money off of saying bad stuff on the game) has embraced and loved the changes. This game is the best Madden since Madden 12.     The good? They are trying to change franchise but its not a complete product as of yet as it will come out in a future update (will update score if this shows dramatic changes) The bad?     An example? I call a go route, throw it, the CPU runs the opposite direction of the ball and my player catches the ball uncontested. Year in and year out this is usually pumped up as a copy and paste game and it feels like this year while they have tried to make some subtle changes to some things? The UI, gameplay and bugs are all the same.

    Ill update my score if i think the updates really make franchise worth playing but as of now? No. Will let this sit on my HD until more patches come.    … Expand

    This game is f*cking awful.. Receiver catching is broken as hell, receivers will drop wide open passes that hit their hands. QBs still can’t effectively pass lead the ball. Defensive pursuit and tackling is atrocious, I’m seeing the same animations as last year where ball carriers will literally run up within an inch of a defender and somehow run right by them while the defender justThis game is f*cking awful..     How do people get excited about Madden's most popular mode, Ultimate Team, when the only differences are visual? How do you get excited about an 87 Tyreek Hill card that was just 99 OVR a month ago? Do the "new" solo challenges feel fresh or do you enjoy playing buggy head-to-head games over and over and over?! Do you enjoy the other team disappearing from the screen or kicking an inactive ball around because neither team can pick it up? Then this is the game for you!

    People who believe this is a good game never played a good game. The standards we hold EA to as a football community are embarrassing when you see all of the refunds being offered for games like CyberPunk and Fallout 76. This game isn't good ... its a recycled version of Madden 19 (if not earlier).     This is absolutely terrible. Got like 10-20 annoying glitches within my first 5 hours of playing. It's the same game as last year!!! STOP GIVING EA YOUR MONEY WHEN THEY PULL STUFF LIKE THIS EVERY YEAR WITH US.

    It's better than Madden 21 and while there are improvements in Franchise Mode, I feel like there could be more. And they made improvements to the gameplay. However, I honestly don't like the new home field advantage and the return of X- Factors. But overall, Madden NFL 22 is a very solid game.

    Madden is a billion dollar franchise that has grown content. Thanks to its exclusivity deals, EA takes zero risks and fumbles each year providing us rehashed versions of previous entries. Madden NFL 22 is no different. Meager improvements are outweighed by series fatigue. Instead of focusing on giving us polished gameplay mechanics and an improved Franchise Mode, EA's focus is divided into unwelcome modes like Face The Franchise and The Yard leading to an overall incomplete and broken experience.
