Madden NFL 21 literally copies most if not all things that were in Madden NFL 19. The gameplay, and physique of players has always been unrealistic since about Madden NFL 13 or 15.     Sadly, Madden has not changed much over the years. I will play it on Game Pass and try a season or two, then realize it does not change and I remove it and move to something else.     Fully updated the game is better but still a total mess ya franchise did get some needed things added but the gameplay is horrible, face of the franchise is better but still not good, the acting was terrible, the yard is cool but the gameplay ruins it

    Devs have suck to new lows with this trash. Buggier and glitchier than all hell. This series has been on a serious decline for the last ten years. I didn't care too much about buying a new one every year when it was some solid gameplay, but the devs are so lazy and clearly don't care at all anymore. They just want to milk us fans. Thanks Obama!

    Any given play can be a complete failure or TD because of the terrible physics and dated CPU AI. Ending scores and statistics of games played are more often questionable than not, leaving you wondering what the numbers would say if the game worked properly. Playing a full game without feeling cheated on at least a single play is impossible. Holding - offense!

    Despite the harsh critcism I actually really enjoy this game. I have all the maddens from 15-21 and I enjoyed M21 a lot. Highly recommended!

    It's awful so called "critics" rated this game 50,60/100.
    Game hasn't changed any bit, they didn't even care about many bugs that are still happening in the game. EA's just f-ing with fans, and they are going to ruin this whole series.
    I really hope devs will wake up soon and won't try to bribe critics.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a bad game which, given how deep we are into things simply should not be. This isn't a 'simulation football game' in any way. It's just a glorified cash grab by EA to take advantage of those who really don't know any better and love to kill money on card packs for Madden Ultimate Team. The game is mostly unchanged from last year's, apart from The Yard which I care to the sum of zero about. They hit you with that the second you boot up. I've been a Franchise Guy since way back when. It's what got me hooked to the game in the 00s and it's a big reason why I like so many others, are fed up with the hollowed out thing in front of us. This simply isn't worth even half the price tag they're asking for. It's just not. You can only resign players after Week 3 of the regular season which isn't even close to how it's done in real life. This was done better in the PS2 days, most notably Maddens 04-10. There's no discernible team logic by the CPU when it comes to drafting or free agency. The game has the worst stat tracking of any game out there, even worse than its PS2 counterparts and given that we're literally a year away from the first ones dropping on PS5, that's a very bad thing.

    As a gamer, Madden has been a part of my life for just about 30 years. I remember playing the very first Madden on Sega Genesis and playing it every year since. After Madden NFL 12, it was clear that EA was done with Franchise because they were all in with MUT and getting every dollar possible from that. In doing this, EA has cast aside a larger number of people who made that cash grab possible by buying the pre MUT Maddens and investing time into Franchise Mode.

    Relocation has gone untouched and while the UI has the best coat of paint ever, that's IT. It's insulting to me that it took EA this long to address what we've known for years now. That Franchise Mode is on blocks and needs major work. Yet even after giving a list of things they wanna do this year and moving forward, none of that was present at the jump. Not ONE. Superstar KO literally came out of the blue last year after Madden 20 dropped. This company has created 2 new modes before even pretending that they're interested in fixing ONE.

    Gameplay is still atrocious for a wannabe simulation football game. The game froze at odd points which led to me missing at least two kicks. This is unacceptable for a digital download. This is nothing more than a Copy & Paste of 20, with a decent number of updates & patches. Especially when you consider how many of these all but broke Franchise Mode (more like Season Mode since it's nowhere near Franchise Mode from its golden age from 04-12).

    21 to me, kickstarted what I've come to call Electronic Skim Milk age with the advent of Superstar X-Factor. See, EA somehow lost the ability of conveying the really great players in the game from the really good ones so they put this in. X-Factors bring Madden kicking & screaming into the Arcade realm, as badly as EA tries to keep it grounded in simulation yet fails miserably doing so. It's very noticeable especially when it comes to those edge rushers who are all but unguardable once their X-Factor's triggered. The cover guy can't fumble once his is triggered, which again, just defies all logic & is yet another sign of how much EA has truly lost it. Commentary isn't much to write home about & has gone off the cliff since they let Nantz & Simms walk. Which as irony would have it, is right about when presentation dropped off completely. With each passing year, Madden NFL 25 looks better because of how much worse these subsequent releases are.

    Madden NFL 21 is a terrible game. Not really sure it can be put any better than that really. It's the soul snatching low point for anyone who like me, loved Franchise Mode & finds this game virtually unplayable because of the piss poor gameplay on top of the most barebones Season Mode out there. Everything was pretty good! EA was still doing some cool stuff that made the game fun and feeling fresh. Year after year though, I started feeling like I was buying the same copy of the previous year's game. One memory I have is when the Xbox 360 was announced and one of the game trailers was for Madden's "next-gen" game. It looked AMAZING! I was so excited that I begged and begged and begged for the new console so I could play the new Madden. My mother being the amazing woman she is made sure I had the new Xbox the day it was released and the first game I purchased for my new console was Madden NFL 06. Now, I don't remember the game exactly but I remember having a huge sense of disappointment; like I was sold a game that wasn't finished. The reason I reference this specific memory of Madden (although I have many) is thinking about this year's release of the next-gen consoles. When I received my new Series X I was excited to check out the new Madden. Although I felt like I was sold the same copy of Madden year after year with current-gen, I was optimistic about Madden's next-gen version based on the trailers I watched and the screenshots I saw on Twitter. I remember having a similar sense of disappointment as I had when I was a kid. I can't tell you the last time I truly enjoyed playing Madden the way I used to enjoy playing football games but, I'm a 30-year-old man. Video games aren't a part of my life like they were when I was a child. Yet, I still really enjoy sitting down and playing the sports games I love with my friends who live back from where I grew up. But what about the kids who were my age when I bought the Xbox 360. Can you imagine begging your parents for a new PlayStation 5 so you can play the next-gen version of Madden and realizing your parents paid a guy on eBay $1200 so you could play a game that felt like a beta and was worse than the current-gen version you've been playing?! The reason I write all of this is to say... Stop signing exclusive rights contracts and take a % from the companies you allow to use the NFL license. Let companies compete and create innovative products so we all win in the end. When 2K was making football games EA was making a better product. I truly believe the only reason we have something like the Hit Stick is due to that competition itself. Competition is a good thing and I know there is a way to create this without taking a total loss on the money EA pays for the exclusive rights. I won't sit here and try to point out everything that is wrong with Madden as there are too many other people highlighting this for me. Whether it is the endless posts about issues with the game or people like RyanMoody21 ( @ShutdownSafety ) on YouTube truly highlighting everything wrong with this game, enough is enough. Bethesda had to issue refunds for Fallout 76 yet Madden fans are told to deal with the issues and bugs and wait for updates and fixes that never truly come. This is my cry for help. I will end with saying that I've completely stopped playing Madden. Instead, I've found myself installing a PlayStation PC Emulator and playing an updated version of NFL 2K5 and Blitz the League II. Even though there is a drop in graphics, I've found myself having fun playing football games again. I shouldn't have to play a game from 2005 but here I am. NFL - please stop signing exclusive rights contracts with EA . Bring back competition and let the best company win.… Expand

But i have to say from the bottom of my heart that the errors and the glitches this game has is by far the worst. The gaming experience is trash. I played the game with my 3 year old and the game literary allowed my 3 year old to intercept the ball with to much ease. Also let me remind you that this was an open receiver but for some reason the pass dragged in the air much longer than usual as if it had enough of the same play being used. Also randomly the game takes control during certain plays in action and user have no control operating players. Please fix this junk. I miss fair play… Expand

You can really see the arcadey emphasis creep into franchise mode with the way players get upgraded. You pick a category of said players game, whether it be west coast, field general, or scrambler, and then hope you get the upgrade you want... let me beat a dead horse and once again ask, how is that simulation? Rant incoming, skip ahead if you want to.
    Look at NBA 2K for instance, if you want your players to have linear development in their game, then you don't have to touch it their practices and they'll develop on their own just fine, and based off of how much time they get on the court or how well they play, they get better as players. But you can really focus on how you want a player to develop. For instance, Ben Simmons is a young and elite playmaker, but he can't shoot to save his life, so I made sure he focused almost entirely on his perimeter shooting, and after a few years, he became a 33% 3pt shooter, making him an offensive freak. But you don't see that ANYWHERE in madden, and from the looks in the Madden 22 trailer that just released, they will continue to lack in that department.

    I supposed if you wanted to play MUT, the game is fine I guess? However, the gameplay doesn't make the game much more fun, in fact the most fun I have with the game is not having to get involved with the gameplay itself. I spend 95% of my gameplay in franchise, and rarely do I ever play an actual game with my team.     So all in all, don't buy this game, or Madden 22 when it comes out. From what I saw, the only additions to franchise mode is game planning and Off/Def Coordinators. And I can't stress this enough, but those 2 additions to franchise mode will do nothing, I guarantee you they won't actually make a difference. Until they completely switch game engines, nothing is going to be "new" with their gameplay, and don't even get me started with the gameplay that they showed in the trailer, the first 5 shots of gameplay contained the same animations from this game, and the previous 3 as well.    … Expand

    The game feels....soft when controlling it. Not to mention how many times I've had players go thru other players. Or when my QB tries to trow a little 5 yd dump pass and missed the receiver by 15 yards....REPEATEDLY!! When a guy does catch a pass it seems like they turn in any other direction than the way they should go. The entire game play just feels ....squishy. But hey, at least we get a horrible soundtrack to go with it!!

    There is not much to say when it comes to madden 21. Trust me the ratings speak for them selves.

Franchise mode is untouched from the last 5 Madden’s, “The Yard”, the flashy, new “back of the box” mode is decently fun but monetized, and face of the franchise is still an unrealized mess. Save your money. Buying this trash each year gives ea incentive to keep doing this and they won’t stop until it hurts their CEO’s wallets. #NFLdropEA… Expand

    This game sucks. I’m really disappointed with it. You’d think that with the technology we have today EA sports would’ve done a great job with it but it sucks. They tried to make it realistic and failed miserably. They suck and just lost a customer and it sucks saying that because I love playing madden but I like when the game is good.

    This game is terrible, plain and simple, infact ea's servers are so unreliable that often the game lags so much it becomes unplayable, not to mention all of the gameplay bugs, there's seriously needs to be a new non ea football game

    Don't waste your money. Don't waste your time. This game is god awful. I'm not sure where to begin when it comes to fixing something like this. So many aspects of this game are irreparably screwed up. EA Sports may be a thing of the past in the near future. I can already see investors backing out. This falsehood won't last.much longer.

    I barley played the game at all this year, but what I got out of it, it's still the same dang game from 5 to 7 years ago. A lot of bugs, glitches, and just overall isn't enjoyable. I don't get why the NFL is still in a contract with these people because if they saw what was happening with this game, they would pull out ASAP.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
