Lumines Remastered

One of the best puzzles games of all time has been remastered by its creator: Tetsuya Mizuguchi. A must buy for fans of the genre.

Lumines Remastered remembers the sweet taste of a great classic. Chaining blocks always brings so much fun and the combination of colors with music is definitely worthwhile.

It might be a struggle for some, but getting to grips with Lumines Remastered’s deceptively unique gameplay and getting lost in the electronic beats is a wonderfully rewarding and mesmerizing experience.

Lumines Remastered doesn't take many chances with the classic Lumines formula but elevates it with some lovely presentation. If you've still got unfinished business with the Vita version, this doesn't do much to make it an essential purchase but if you're a fan of the genre, and the series in particular, this won't disappoint.

It’s no wonder that Lumines Remastered still feels as excitingly addictive as it ever did. A light polishing of features and presentation is very welcome, but it’s the original marriage of gameplay and music that shines the brightest.

Lumines Remastered is a loving, wonderfully polished return of one of the best rhythm games of these past years. A couple irritating technical issues and a slightly archaic song unlock system aren’t enough to stand in the way of the wildly entertaining, timeless gameplay.

Having the original Lumines soundtrack on modern consoles is a nostalgia trip for fans of the 14-year-old PSP puzzler, but the core block-dropping gameplay hasn’t aged a day. It’s still just as addictive now as it was back then, but it’s a shame that as a remaster it ignores some of the game modes introduced in later games. As remasters go, Lumines is impeccable, but then it was always going to be.

Lumines is back with its great and rhythmically addictive gameplay. It doesn’t offer any relevant new features, but it still is one of the best games in its genre.

Lumines didn’t need to reinvent the wheel for its remaster as it already had its base down pat.

This remastered brings the best of two chapters in one, single shot. Despite the lack of online mode, it's still one of the best puzzle game ever made.

Lumines Remastered is the same good old game, but it’s back in 2018 and it’s better than ever. Mixing talent, puzzle games and rhythm games, Lumines Remastered’s only real flaw is that there’s no online multiplayer.

Lumines has always been a challenging game, and that hasn't changed in this remaster. Despite excluding some modes and tracks from later games in the series, rendering it not quite the supreme title it could have been, Lumines Remastered is a great package that will suit puzzle purists seeking an addictive title to reward skill and dedication.
