Just wasted about 15 hours playing this game for the save game to corrupt and lose everything. Apparently a common issue. Player beware! What a waste of time. Instantly uninstalled this garbage.

L.A. noire isn`t great. And while I enjoyed my time with the game. By the time I got halfway through, I just wanted to stop and play something else. The game play is extremely tedious and repetitive. The game is on a continuous loop of: Go to the crime scene, gather evidence, go to their residence/ the residence of someone who is connected with them, Interview them, and get more evidence. Rinse and repeat until you find your guy. Every single case is like the last, which is disappointing as there is so much potential for an action packed game of police shootouts and epic cases, but instead you get something more on par with a police simulator, Which is okay if that`s what you like and want but the thing about realistic policework is that it`s boring and isn`t very exciting. Starting this game I was expecting to be leaping onto the roof of a train or to be dangling off a building within the first hour of gameplay but instead I got a boring police sim. I ended up enjoying the random crimes more than I liked the actual game. The aesthetic of the 1940`s is cool although doesn`t add too much to the game. The map is incredibly boring and I constantly felt lost, it barely has any notable landmarks to discern where you are. The map looks the same wherever you are causing you to get lost and over rely on the in game minimap. This makes it so I barely explore and only go to where the story makes me go. Add the fact that there is nothing to do except the random crimes. No stunt jumps, no side missions, nothing. This is a far cry from Rockstar`s other titles. Also, I didn`t feel connected to the protagonist. The only person I connected with was one of Cole`s (the protagonist) partners, Rusty Galloway. And then.. I get promoted and never see him again. All in all L.A. Noire is an okay game, but incredibly boring and repetitive. It`s mediocre when compared to other video games but when it`s compared to Rockstar`s other games… it`s really bad Expand

    Sucks.

I came to play this game because I was looking for another detective game to play after Sherlock Holmes. I did a thorough search before I decided to go for this game. I came to play this game because I was looking for another detective game to play after Sherlock Holmes. I did a thorough search before I decided to go for this game. I’m a stubborn bastard so I spent about 20h on the game although being ready to faint of boredom after 1.. this game is all about the looks and has nothing more to it. The investigations aren’t intriguing, finding evidence is simple but also, walking around apartments to find things just takes time and feels boring. Everything about this game rely on you not to use your brain, just your luck.
The only time you actually do have something to think about is in the interviews with suspects, and this is so random. You have three theme responses to choose from, but they tell you absolutely nothing about what your character is actually gonna say and that could be just about anything stupid. If this situation would truly gonna be choice-based you need to know WHAT, because this guy is not staying to the script. ****** ****, this makes me so angry. Also the detective you play is just a normal, boring guy with problems to tune in when he talks to people, why is he this stiff without having ANY OTHER LIKEABLE SIDES!? I hated driving around, nothing particular to look at, I was so thankful that the partner could drive almost all the time to skip. You can choose to search secret locations for cars and drive them but then they’d suddenly disappear!? and you’d be back in your partners old car, why should I even look for them if I can’t keep them!? And then, when you arrive to locations you get to walk like five meters and then the system takes over again because a conversation starts, just place me in the conversation already!? Actually I did enjoy one thing, in some cases there’s a newspaper to look at that shows parts of a story, smart. All in all, this game sucks.

LA Noire remaster hit us out of nowhere and brings a nice high definition version of the game to our consoles. Unfortunately, it doesn’t bring many fixes with it, nor does it expand on the huge city they’ve built.

Even with a new coat of graphical paint, L.A. Noire remains a game that adds up to less than the sum of its parts.
