A fantastic compilation that features old and new adventures in the Kingdom Hearts series, featuring the 5 year old 3DS title Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, new 5 hour+ game Birth by Sleep 0.2 and the 80 minute long movie X Back Cover.

Dream Drop Distance has made its way over to the PS4 extremely well. With crisp HD visuals, 60fps and new content, the game is massively improved. It performs extremely well on PS4 and the previous touch controls for 3DS have been changed for PS4 and it all works great! The music is amazing like every other KH title! DDD HD is an excellent re-release and is definitely the main meal of this collection. One issue I have is the camera has been changed from 3DS. It isn't as close as it was before, but that's just me. Rating: 10/10

Birth By Sleep 0.2 is a great look into what we can expect from KH3. Featuring smooth and responsive combat and a new graphics style for the series, with extremely high quality detail from the particles to the shadows and lighting, the game looks absolutely incredible. The music for 0.2 is creepy and dark and is super fitting for the setting! The story will last around 3-8 hours depending on your playstyle as you travel through the dark world as Aqua and there's other content such as objectives, unlockable gear, treasure chests and a secret boss. I found it to be a good length for a prologue to KH3 but could have been slightly longer with maybe a few more areas to explore. Rating: 9.5/10

X Back Cover was an enjoyable film which is set before the events of the original Birth By Sleep title. The characters were interesting and the graphics are insanely good through the use of unreal engine 4. The voice acting was great! I really enjoyed X Back Cover! Rating: 9/10

I'm going to give this collection a 9.5/10 overall! Its a great gateway to KH3 and I think any fan of Kingdom Hearts who enjoys the stories of KH will love this entry.

The selling point for this is that it gives A FEEL for what Kingdom Hearts 3 MIIIIGHT be. Are yall retarded? This isn't 3 and this isn't a 60 dollar game. Ffs 1.5-2.5 is coming with 6-7 games for 50???? I'm not saying this is bad but what I am saying is that Square Enix is screwing people over with that price. I'd say just wait for the price drop and don't be some sort of primordial dumbass.

One thing I have to admit about this collection, is that it is NOT worth $70-80. That's the honest truth. Infact, I should have waited a little longer for a price drop, but it's just a trend for me to get KH games when they come out.

In saying that, this is far from bad. I actually love it. Pro's and con's below: 0.2: A Fragmentary Passage - Truly a great appetiser to see what KH3 is

In saying that, this is far from bad. I actually love it. Pro's and con's below:

0.2: A Fragmentary Passage - Truly a great appetiser to see what KH3 is going to look like. The gameplay is solid, it looks good and like always, the story is incredible but this time with more of a dark feel and soundtrack in relation to the setting, but I wont get into spoilers.
Its not short of its flaws though.
In my experience, playing on critical mode was just frustrating as everything seemed to 1 or 2 shot you. The controls were quite stiff and it was hard to predict anything the enemies were going to do as they would just fly around and do crazy things before you could even react. (dont get me started on the demon tower!. You'll see what I mean). Also, if you are caught in an enemy combo, its GG.
The reason why I say "Were" is because they recently patched it to reduce enemy damage on proud/critical mode, increase your damage to enemies and also improved the flow of combat which made it so much better. I noticed a drastic change in the range of attacks which is great. Yet still, some fights are overpowered and the game expects you to grind the same areas to get to max level for one of the challenges. It gets boring since theres only a few areas to keep going back to.
Putting those negatives aside, it is definitely worth the play-through and a brilliant addition to the franchise.

Back cover - Short and sweet. What an amazing movie. It goes for about 60-80 mins and it really goes in detail about the origins which will no doubt be mentioned in KH3 somewhere. my only gripe is that it left me hanging. It just ended at a point where it was getting good. Kind of like a cliffhanger on Dexter or Breaking Bad.
The animations, characters, voice acting and story telling were just amazing.

Dream Drop Distance - The meat of the collection. It looks stunning in HD and the mechanics are a lot more precise.
Playing it on the 3DS didn't really grip me as the controls didn't feel good for a KH game and I'm not used to playing something so immersive on a small screen but thats just me. On PS4 however..It's just mindblowing. The quality of the game is nearly on point with KH 1&2. It's obviously not as long of a game, but for a side story, this is so impressive and a joy to play. The drop feature seems to get on everyone's nerves which makes sense, but as you play further through and surround yourself in the gameplay and story, its not much of an issue and makes sense as to why this occurs. Sora's and Riku's versions of each world become quite different so you aren't actually playing the game twice.

You can count on Square Enix to deliver fun, engaging, emotional and immersive experiences. But fair pricing, I dunno anymore :P

Overall 8/10. If you are a KH fan where you want to learn everything, I definitely recommend as this package gives you so much lore. You will probably feel like you're studying for an exam.

However, for $30, this is a great collection, 0.2 is a truly exciting entry into the series with a very character driven and surprisingly depressing story revolving around Aqua and her time in the realm of darkness. Fit with great game play that is a little rough at times, (but will certainly be fixed in KH3, don't worry.), albeit it is short, what's there is great, similar to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes in a sense. The movie, Back Cover, is interesting, but only for people truly interested in Kingdom Hearts back story. Dream Drop Distance is still a good game, and has never been better than on the PS4, albeit the story gets a little too out of hand, It's characters are still endearing and It's overall connection to the broad story of Kingdom Hearts is enthralling and wraps it up in a nice little bow, amping up the excitement and possibilities for Kingdom Hearts 3. The HD version of Dream Drop Distance is very well made. Storywise, it is a bridge game between Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3 which sets up the eventy for Kingdom Hearts 3. It is also a relatively long game where the main story is like 25-30 hours and also has some side content to explore.

All in all I think it is a good package to enjoy before playing Kingdom Hearts 3. Since the games are older though, I don't think it is worth full price, but this is really subjective. I think right now it's worth like 20-30 Dollars.

Anyway, on the bright side, KH0.2 is an awesome taste of what the Kingdom Hearts games are heading towards, it is just awesome to play both mechanically and graphically; personally i spent a full half an hour staring amazed at the movements, attacks and OH BOY MAGICS! Magic looks so smooth! And if you feel some nostalgia, even the quick selection feature is back to give you that KH2 thrill you've been missing.
Also, this episode is a fine addiction to the lore, especially since we've waited to see what the damn Cinderella's castle was doing in the realm of Darkness since Birth By Sleep Final Mix.

Not much can be said about KH3D.. I mean, old game looking better then ever, a fine porting but nothing more.

As for the Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, marvelous graphics and directory took me into a deeper knowledge of the Kingdom Hearts world, creating an even more detailed background to the ending chapter of the Xeanorth Saga in Kingdom Hearts III, which will hopefully solve all the questions still unanswered until now.

PS: I bought the game with a discount paying it 40€ instead of the full price, should you find a way to pay that amount of money it is worth a full 10!

When I first Heard about this game being the origin to the series I thought they were gonna mention the X-blade's origin and how the keyblade war started and the 7 Guardians of Light and 13 Darknesses nothing exist here all you have is 5 apprentices with a Master handing each a book and yet their fear of the Lost Page has turn them against each other and that's it :( .

Dream Drop Distance, one of the 3 entries on the disc, has some of the worst graphics on the PS4. It is a port of a 3DS game, and you can tell. environments are empty and bland and character models are horrid, Despite all that, the game play is solid and feels better than it did on the 3DS. Birth By Sleep 0.2 is the only new game content on the disc. It lasts an unbelievable 2 hours, and it only took me 10 hours to 100% it. It is really fun and adds new concepts that I am excited to be in Kingdom Hearts III, but I cannot forgive its incredibly short play time. Lastly, there is Unchained, a movie of sorts. It too is a bit short, around an hour. However it was enjoyable. The Master of Masters, a new character to the series, quickly became my favorite character in all of Kingdom Hearts lore. It isn't really great as a movie, but as an exposition dump if you didn't play the mobile game, it is fine.

If you are a Kingdom Hearts fan, I would say wait for it to be $40 at the most. I cannot believe Square charged $60 for this, especially when they charged $40 for previous compilations with much more content and value. If you aren't a Kingdom Hearts fan, pick up I.5 + II.5 that comes out in March first. It will have all the games before this one so you can actually know what is going on in the story.

However, great it is, I do wish the play through was longer. My run time was around 3 1/2 hours, which is technically a long demo, but I did no this when getting the compilation. KH 0.2 was very necessary, it literally allows fans to just jump into KH3 without a Roxas like intro in KH2 which was not fun. The bosses were fun and challenging, and the Unreal 4 engine makes the combat look and feel great, however feeling stiff at times. The story is good allowing a much needed bridge to be crossed before we embark on the next installment, hopefully being Kingdom Hearts 3.

Dream Drop Distance is surprisingly the best part of this compilation, in my opinion. The graphics are almost identical to KH & KH2, the gameplay is great, very similar to birth by sleep with the command decks, flow motion is fun and adds more combat variety. The dream eaters aspect I grew to like eventually, flick rush is an entertaining side note. The drop system got on my nerves at first, when you cannot control it, but eventually you get items to slow and prolong the drop gauge, and if you think about it, the drop system is actually necessary to the story. The worlds are good, not to the level KH 0.2 is obviously, and the play through took me around 28 hours to complete the storyline. Nevertheless, Dream Drop Distance is a great Kingdom Hearts game that is at the top of my favorite Kingdom Hearts games.

The price was not an issue for me, probably because I was not able to play DDD on 3DS, so it was like buying a brand new game with a great demo for KH3.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, what a mouthful, is a great compilation, with 0.2 A Fragmentary Passage looking gorgeous, and making me very excited for what Square Enix has planned for Kingdom Hearts 3, and Dream Drop Distance as being a great Kingdom Hearts game to top of this great, KH fan must have, compilation.

This isn't Kingdom Hearts 3 yet, but the 2.8 collection is pretty good for Kingdom Hearts Fans. 0.2 is really fun and give us a taste of what to expect from Kingdom Hearts 3; Dream Drop Distance was really well ported for the PS4 and the back cover movie, is absolutely awesome, it's just for hardcore fans and it has a lot of information that connects with other games of the franchise. I have to ask, am I the only one that was a bit baffled when I heard this was a thing? Sure, "Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance" was the only "Kingdom Hearts" game that wasn't on consoles in some form or fashion (be it playable or through the Theater Mode), but I had to wonder at the time if this was just another excuse to keep us away from "Kingdom Hearts III." Sure, "Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance" was the only "Kingdom Hearts" game that wasn't on consoles in some form or fashion (be it playable or through the Theater Mode), but I had to wonder at the time if this was just another excuse to keep us away from "Kingdom Hearts III." Hell, when you slap a number like 2.8 on the game, I immediately start lining a list of questions (first of them being, "what the hell are you doing over there?"). But okay, this was our last step before "Kingdom Hearts III," so does Square Enix still do good things with it? Well, sure!
"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" (wow, that's an unwieldy title) brings with it largely new content: outside of the "Dream Drop Distance" port (which, in and of itself is a nice and well made port), this collection comes with "Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth By Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage" (jeez, another wild title), which is essentially a demo to prepare you for "Kingdom Hearts III," and it also comes with the "Kingdom Heart χ Back Cover" cinematic film, telling the story of new characters, The Foretellers. This is a nice, short film that adds some new development to an already detailed story, but the real cream of the crop is "A Fragmentary Passage," a three-hour demo of sorts that has great combat, beautiful level designs, and some overall rip-roaring gameplay while it lasts. The collection as a whole also continues to tick all the presentation boxes that the series is known for, specifically the beautiful graphics, smooth controls and fantastic soundtrack.
Unfortunately, this package is far from perfect: for starters, the frustrating Drop mechanic from "Dream Drop Distance" is only made worse when playing on a console, and it seems like the one handheld-to-console "Kingdom Hearts" port that benefits the least from said move. Furthermore, while "Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover" does a nice job developing the Foretellers and keeping things short...let's be honest, the story of this series is already lop-sided and bizarre as it is, do we need to be more confused? And further, while "A Fragmentary Passage" is the real prize of the collection, it does suffer a bit from an inconsistent frame rate, which is disappointing given that the gameplay is so strong and it gives a great idea of how "Kingdom Hearts III" will play.
All in all, "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" (Square, what the hell is the matter with your titles) is wholly unnecessary, and it's gonna be perplexing and unwieldy to some hardcore fans. Yet, this is still a well-made collection that did a nice job holding fans over until "Kingdom Hearts III" finally released. It's definitely not the best of the many "Kingdom Hearts" collections, but it's definitely worth a shot if you're a big fan of the series.

I started playing this game thinking it was going to be a disappointment.
    Boy, was I wrong.
    I loved the game!
The battle system is amazing, the worlds are pretty, it's challenging as hell, characters are cool and bosses are fun.
Had real good time with it.

2 things really bothered me, though: The Spirit System and the awkward writing.
Other than that, it's focking nice!

I paid 30$ for this, and that's what I'd say this game is worth (Given KH 1.5 + 2.5 is worth $60)

That said, there's some fun gameplay here. KH 3d has fun combat, and flowmotion is an interesting way to move around and unleash special moves. Unfortunately the story, writing, and a few gameplay ideas are questionable. "Dropping" serves no purpose other than being one of the "D's" in 3D,

Unfortunately the story, writing, and a few gameplay ideas are questionable. "Dropping" serves no purpose other than being one of the "D's" in 3D, which is a dumb idea to base your whole game around. The entire premise is silly and potentially frustrating, but fortunately doesn't impact the game much. The story is confusing as usual, although this time even more so. My advice would be to turn your brain off and enjoy the individual world's stories.

On the bright side, KH 0.2 was a wonderful glimpse into the future KH 3, and is a good game on it's own merit. Aqua's journey into the abyss was interesting and fun, and shed some new light on certain events from past games and hinted at future events.

Great port of the 3DS game, looks damn fine on PS4 Pro. The movie for Kingdom Hearts Chi: Back Cover is another reason this earns a 9. It's shorter than the other KH movies from 1.5 HD Remix and 2.5 HD Remix films they had and as a result, could've elaborated a bit more and pushed more animation in it (something all of them are lacking tbh), however voice acting is epic and it is rather attractive still. Story makes you want more.

I'm generous with the 9 by a bit, 8/10s are understandable ratings also.
