I have had a lot of fun with this game. It may not be for everyone as some may find it too much of a grind at times and it can feel like you're a little underpowered in the beginning but some investment in the skill tree can really make up the difference. The text suffers from being a lazy port in that it's too small. Fine if you're on PC inches away from the screen but on a sofa a few meters away and it's difficult to make out a lot of the ship names sailing by or locations on the map. I have had a few crashes here and there and while annoying, you never lose much progress thanks to autosave every time you enter or exit a port. Hopefully, this will be fixed in the near future. The combat is simple and fun. You get to make use of the RPG element of the game by selecting equipment that suits you as well a four unique powers that range from sending a shark to attack the enemy ship, to becoming ethereal for a few seconds to increase speed and become immune to all damage.

The game does well at offering new mechanics hours after the start to keep things fresh but it sometimes fails to explain certain things, especially when trying to determine your ship's stats on the inventory screen. Sometimes, items might show as a green increase to damage, for example, but it calculates critical chance into the power stat. At one point, at a glance, it looked like I had a cannon power level of 10k but in reality, it was about half that, so you have to be careful when equipping new gear that looks like it's an improvement.

I recommend this game and for the price, you'll get your money's worth.

Well after i wasted 2 days on the game the idiotic mechanics just kept building up on me, i finally uninstalled it et reinstalled Black Flag. A pity there aren't more games like this on ps. A pity there aren't more games like this on ps. Anyway, to be avoided. Much worse than the 30y old Pirates! from which its inspired. Some bsod, the ships are too few and unbalanced. The brick is fine in speed and maneuvrability, but can't kill shyt with cannons. The galleon is unplayably slow, and the frigate is frustratingly average. Ofc u have jackshyt means to upgrade that They added some useless elemental effects that the player won't use but take all the time in the teeth. Finally the gamekill was 1) Level cap at 60. You can barely fill ONE skill tree, and forced pretty much to fill the bottom one, since it's the only way to refill crew life without going back to port. I mean YTF so stupid, devs.. u donlt want people to play ur game ? 2) You unblock conquering ports after a while, spending MILLIONS of gold to upgrade them just so they're taken back a few minutes later. U only get one flash cryptic message on the screen when that happens saying ununderstandable crap, that one port is preparing to attack another. U don't know which one is attacking, there are no ships at the given locations. Supposing u're not in battle at the moment to try to decipher their babbling. Just plain retarded overall Expand

It may not be everyone's flagon of grog but I had an excellent time with King of Seas and will continue to until I dominate the high seas.

The ship combat and looting might carry King of Seas' piratical adventure for some, just beware that there's grinding through a bunch of stretched out story missions to get to the heart of the game. It's a game to break out when you're feeling extra piratey, but it has enough flaws that you should weigh them up before getting your cutlass out.

King Of Seas ultimately suffers through a lack of visual polish, some frustrating gameplay mechanics, and dull pacing and sequences, which when all combined together create a thoroughly unremarkable experience that doesn't manage to hold its own against even some of the most average of pirate games on the market.
