    Killsquad is a great twin-stick shooter for players who are looking for a new title and want to spend time with friends in an action-packed game with lots of customization options. That said, it's important to be aware that the single-player experience isn't as fun as it could be and the progression isn't as straightforward as other games in the genre.

    Killsquad can be passingly fun in short doses, but it has too many significant issues to be an easy recommendation for even the genre's biggest fans.

    At its best Killsquad can be a competent co-op shooter that's just about tough enough to create a compelling challenge but it's quite repetitive, ordinary, fussy and bland too. It feels like what it is, a barely optimised port of a cheap four year old PC game but if you can find a co-op buddy or three, there's some fun to be had.

    Killsquad’s attempt at a twin-stick shooter unfortunately falls flat in almost every aspect of its design. The competent but bland combat, aesthetically interesting but boring presentation and poorly balanced mechanics lead to a functional but ultimately lifeless video game. It’s not bad, it’s just not a lot of fun to actually play.

    Moment-to-moment combat can be enjoyable; Decent variety in playable characters.

    Unbalanced dificulty; Dull objectives and level design; Unengaging progression and loot mechanics; Bland, nearly non-existent story and worldbuilding.

    Thoughts-
    Given how crowded the market is, and especially how crowded the action RPG space is, that makes it incredibly hard to recommend Killsquad. When there’s so much else vying for your attention and competing for your time, it’s hard to look at Killsquad and recommend it over other options. Perhaps if it was available on Game Pass it’d be an easier sell, but given the fact that Novarama hasn’t brought Killsquad to Xbox yet, as things stand right now, it’s on a pretty lown rung on the action RPG ladder.    … Expand
