Jul 15, 2019Kill La Kill -IF- may just be the perfect anime video game. It almost flawlessly manages to embrace the style and energy of the original anime, and translate that into an enthralling arena fighter that is just as much fun solo as it is competitively. The art is incredible, the music is astounding, and the story mode goes above and beyond to deliver a fresh narrative that fans of the anime will eat up. Whether you're a Kill La Kill megafan or just a fighting game enthusiast, this is a must play.

Jul 15, 2019Kill la Kill The Game: IF managed to exceed my expectations in almost every way delivering a fantastic experience for Kill la Kill fans like myself who have been waiting a long time for a game.

Aug 12, 2019While I was probably the furthest thing from the intended audience before starting this review, I had an absolute blast with Kill la Kill: IF, and I could almost be considered a convert at this point. It probably doesn’t have much chance as a serious, tournament-worthy fighter and the supporting content is thin, but if this title can win me over, it’s well worth any fighting game fan’s time.

Jul 26, 2019This colorful burst of anime goodness may not be flawless, but it's exemplary for the genre, and another of Arc System Works' great efforts. It's quite short and a bit on the shallow end, but when it comes to presentation and sticking close by to the anime, few titles have done it better. For newcomers, it's best to watch the series first, but for Kill la Kill faithful and Trigger enthusiasts, it's a great weekend rental or purchase.
-
Jul 26, 2019KILL la KILL The Game: IF features exciting arena fighting action and silly yet engaging yarn that together form an exclusive episode for the quirky franchise. The presentation is big, bold and in-your-face, creating a handsome package you really want to dig into. The girls never miss a chance to strike a defiant pose and don’t mind how exposed they are doing so, be it in special moves, combo finishers or psyching up before matches. However, with a limited number of playable characters and ill-founded playing after completing the story with the main girls, the sixty dollar asking price might be a bit steep.
-
Jul 16, 2019Kill la Kill is an anime licensed tie-in fighter done well, and given how frequently these turn out to be terrible that in itself is a relief. It's fast, it's furious, it's explicit and fanservicey, and it is outright hilarious in its satire. The developers have nailed every element of Kill la Kill that needed to be done right, and I can't imagine fans wanting anything more from this particular game.
-
Jul 26, 2019It’s a gift for the fans of the anime – definitively not suited for those who aren’t – with a well crafted combat system: simple but deep mechanics that can reward players who can read correctly their opponent, even if their execution level is not top class.
-
Aug 13, 2019The developer has managed to adapt the anime quite faithfully. However, by focusing mainly on the story they have neglected other important aspects of the game, such as the limitation of characters, modes and combat scenarios. However, the pace of frantic fighting and how well it is achieved, adaptation can become a fan.
-
Jul 24, 2019Kill la Kill IF is a great adaptation, that nails the combat, the visuals and the tone of the series, but lacks content. However, if you’re a fan, you cannot miss it.
-
Jul 25, 2019Much like the anime that came before it, Kill la Kill: the Game is weird, wild, and loud, but also a bit shallow. But unlike the anime, the Game doesn’t have the same feeling of scale to it, the same feeling of unrestrained creators working with a healthy budget and top-tier industry names.
-
Jul 21, 2019Under the protective wing of ArcSystem Works, A + Games models a solid tie-in, very faithful to the anime and very fun to play.
-
Aug 6, 2019Kill la Kill: IF has a lot of potential, unfortunately the contents are lacking, despite a visually stunning combat system.
-
Aug 9, 2019Kill la Kill IF is an interesting title that will please mainly fans of the anime series. However, as a fighting game, it lacks playable characters and scenarios, in addition to some of its mechanics being quite confusing, which prevents this title from reaching higher levels.
-
Jul 29, 2019Kill la Kill IF is clearly designed for fans of Kill la Kill who are looking for more ways to enjoy the characters, music, and battles of the anime series. Each fighter behaves as they do in the anime, and the excellent voice actor rewards provide a nice incentive to keep playing even after you've mastered every character. However, as a fighting game, Kill la Kill IF doesn't deliver the expected harmony of offense and defense. And though campaign battles that are beyond the one-on-one formula are an awesome addition, the traditional arena fighting game mechanics aren't designed to adequately handle multiple opponents. The campaign's startling revelation is a fascinating turn of events for Kill la Kill's story, though, creating a new and intriguing interpretation of one of 2013's best anime series.
-
Jul 24, 2019Kill la Kill – IF shows some unquestionnable love for the anime, with its epic battles and sweet fighting choreographies. But the fights are messy, beacause of poor camera angles which often ruin the readability.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKAug 27, 2019With a light and airy story, a number of insubstantial game modes and a limited roster of characters, this is a package that has about as much substance as the twin protagonist’s battle suits. It’s one for Lady Satsuki’s Elite Four, assorted devotees and few others. We’d rather be watching the series. [Issue#166, p.84]
-
Aug 21, 2019Kill La Kill - IF is a pretty descent fighting game, with a good but very simplistic gameplay, a new alternative story well told, but the lack of content is obvious. Fans only.
-
Jul 31, 2019Kill la Kill: IF's incredable animations and presentation can't save it from being a repetitive fighter that outstays it's welcome after just a few hours.
-
Jul 26, 2019Kill la Kill: IF succeeds in translating its namesake's hyper-kinetic universe, wild action, and extreme characters into a fun experience, but is held back by lackluster side-content and flaws inherent to its own design. It's worth your time if you're already a franchise fan, but those yet to be ensnared by Life-Fibers should wait until this particular couture number moves to the reduced rail.
-
Jul 26, 2019Despite some great looking cel-shaded graphics, Kill la Kill The Game: IF feels carelessly put together. With a shallow roster to match its shallow fighting system, it lacks both the breadth and depth to make competitive play interesting, and its story mode that's simultaneously long-winded and brief fails to make up for an overall lack of interesting content.
-
Jul 29, 2019Kill la Kill - If certainly looks the part, but once you're past the striking art style and eye-popping visuals, it's only a matter of time until the gameplay falls flat. As a bombastic anime fighter it can hold up for at least a few rounds with friends, but beyond that, this is a lacking release, both in terms of mechanical balance and bang for your buck.
-
Jul 21, 2019I'm sorry Kill la Kill fans, but IF is not the game you were waiting for. The new story is disappointing, and the arena fighting is just not as deep as you want. There aren't enough modes to satisfy, and even the presentation feels like a step down from the usual Arc System Works titles. It still has that strong anime aesthetic, but other than that, it fails to impress. Once again, fans deserve better.
