This version is an mildly enjoyable if sanitised cue ball sim that lets you get close to the action and pull off some pretty fancy shots – perhaps a little too easily at times.

Although almost a mirror port with the original PlayStation 4 Hustle Kings, this current VR version does make the game more realistic so to speak but the fiddly controls unfortunately destroy that illusion. It’s a good try but once again, you cannot beat the real-life version of pool which is where I’m sticking for now!

Ultimately Hustle Kings VR lacks a lot of polish. The fact that there’s a banner advert for LittleBigPlanet 3 in the background of one of the levels is a perfect example of how this title looks like a rushed effort to be in the VR line-up. Once the novelty of being able to look around wears off, you’re stuck with essentially the exact same experience that the franchise delivered back on the PS3.

The core Hustle Kings gameplay is solid and some of the game modes and table designs are a lot of fun to lay with, but some design choices for VR get in the way of a fully enjoyable experience. [Issue#180, p.47]

A game deprived of its soul, shattered by a free-to-play structure that doesn't make sense, and hurriedly adapted to virtual reality.

It's the same game as Hustle Kings PS4, only with the addition of rudimentary virtual reality support and irritating Move control support. Unless you're a particularly obsessed with video game pool, Hustle Kings VR offers little more than the ability to look at balls closer than you ever have before.

The controls are solid and probably the best workaround for the very limited control capabilities provided by the Playstation move controller (it has no stick for camera movement etc). For a pool game it gets the best out of this setup. The visuals are very sharp and polished, the ball physics feels realistic. Well done. Full Review »

Maybe they fixed it but given the total user reviews so far years after release (zero), I'm guessing not. Full Review »
