Fantastic! Love the old school challenge but needs more levels. Much easier controls on the PS4 than on the Vita. The story is paranoid and makes you think twice. The music is not to be missed!

    So-So
    * more complex story than I thought after research (need to pay attention)
    * not sure if I got by on skill or luck

    Cons:
    - inconsistent and unfair A.I
Example: guy with a shotgun with a his back turn will do a 180 one shot kill from across the room, while another one will chase you. it feels like rng.

    - stiff and horrible twins stick mechanics (was this intentional to make the game artificially difficult?)

    - inconsistent hit boxes.
Example: on my screen it clearly shows the bat going through the npc but it doesn't register sometimes, same with bullets going through npcs. keyword: sometimes.

    - inconsistent "stealth". what constitutes an enemy detecting you. I had an A.I do a 180 one hit shot the second I entered a room, but kill his friend while hes facing your general direction and not far away, and sometimes he wont notice.

It's definately one of the hardest games that I've actually completed. That sense of satisfaction when chapter cleared is a big high. But I can't just turn a blind eye on the flawed mechanics of this game, getting killed by a character off-screen is the icing on the cake, My frustrations were not with getting good, it's with the wonky game systems. And I have a suspicion it was intentionally implemented too.

Really enjoyed the graphic 8 bit violence and smooth stringing kill combos. One of the better indie games on PS4. And always on sale so a good deal. Buy it

recomendo para pessoas que gostam de jogos violentos e desafiadores com um toque Old School

This game is simple, violent and fun, the graphics are ok, and soundtrack is nothing memorable, but it's playability is awesome.
i recommend for people that like old school and violent games.

1980s Miami. Neon rush. This game has a great soundtrack and atmosphere. It's worth a play for Perturbator's music alone. The game is basically the police office scene from The Terminator over and over.

Definitely a very fun indie game to have and play. Obviously its quality warranted it a sequel. Many fun guns to try out, levels to run through, and once you get a hold of the mechanics, it's really fun. It makes you feel overpowered without making the game stupid easy, and that's a very notable achievement accomplished by this game.

Hotline Miami is a neon-tinted trip through 80's Miami which both carries the look, music and difficulty of classic video games. Hotline has you shoot, brawl and melee through multiple armed Russian gang members. This game is made by Devolver Digital, the same people who made Serious Sam 3 and the Shadow Warriors reboot and like those games Hotline Miami is brutal visceral fun, which despite having a top-down view and the art style being in the vein of 16-bit, the violence (which there is a lot of) still manages to remain gory and glorious, with each blow and each bullet feeling heavy with impact. This feeling is also amplified by how easy it is to die and good God is it easy to die. You will die a lot, this game does not pull any punches, you do everything perfect or you get your arse handed to you, these are the options this game will give you. This game also has a fantastic soundtrack, it really does compliment the aesthetic and the story, which though cliche and very much drinking from the same kool-aid as Bioshock, is still somewhat compelling. The game also manages to balance weapons extremely well, you'd expect guns to be much better than melee and both of those to be better than fists however this isn't the case, the guns may have the best range and damage but they run out quick, can easily miss and alerts everyone around you, melee weapons may deal more damage than fists and can be thrown to make enemies unconscious and of course your trusty fists may only leave enemies knocked down temporarily, requiring a brutal execution to finish your foe off, and have little range, however they are much faster, don't slow you down and gives you the most points, which you'll need to get a good ranking at the end of each chapter. However despite everything that is good, the game does have a few flaws, it is very evident that this game is a port from the PC, for example while the controls are generally fluent, at times, especially when looking ahead controlling can feel awkward and a little over-sensitive, also with all the colour and corpses on screen occasionally it can be hard to tell the difference between a dead enemy, a knocked-down enemy and an alive one, which can lead to cheap deaths. All in all this is a great indie gem worthy of your time and of great value, especially for £2.50 (equivalent to roughly 3 and a half dollars) so unless you have a good PC (where it controls more naturally) or an aversion to red pixels, I cannot recommend this game enough to you. This is a nice little game; fun to play and with an interesting story that opens the door for the good stuff happening in hotline Miami (HM2).

Graphics are retro styled which gives the game a bit of personality, but if you don’t like the style you’ll feel disappointed by it. Music is simply amazing; it goes very well with the brutal, fast paced gameplay. The story is quite good for this

Graphics are retro styled which gives the game a bit of personality, but if you don’t like the style you’ll feel disappointed by it. Music is simply amazing; it goes very well with the brutal, fast paced gameplay. The story is quite good for this kind of game; although the game obviously focuses on gameplay, it is simply nice to play but you get a good story as well. The story can be a bit hard to follow if you don’t pay attention and for it to make complete sense you’ll have to unlock the “true” ending. I’d also say some of the questions about the characters won’t be answered until you play HM2 which explains a lot of the stuff that happens in HM1. As I mentioned above, the gameplay is fast, it is all about twin stick fast paced action, and the good thing is the story does not break that rhythm. I think it is also worth mentioning the game is kind of hard and not very forgiving, you’ll die a lot, so if you don’t like that you might want to spend your money elsewhere.

Another interesting thing is the violence, this game, despite the graphic style is quite brutal and violent. This is a good thing for people who like it, but be careful if you’re thinking of buying it as a present for children or if there is children around; violence, drugs etc. are quite present here.
Finally, I would advise people to play both HM1 and 2 together as the story in the second game is highly related to the first one and answers questions you may have on the first game. There are also a lot of characters and references from HM1 in HM2. If you make the effort to understand the story, I think you’ll enjoy it quite a lot, but you need to pay attention as the game does not hold your hand on this (if you’re losing the point, I suggest you read a bit on the internet after completing the game).

Hotline Miami is a retro-inspired 2D puzzle game disguised as an action title. Yes, you perform a ton of killings with firearms and melee weapons. But you must perfectly enact your murderous spree or you'll end up dead which happens a lot. The trial-and-error of this game will be a real turnoff for players who like to progress fast. Almost every little mistake will get you killed since there are no health bars. You're killed in one-hit and must repeat the level every time you die. Some deaths seem cheap due to the off-camera shooting and the wonky lock-on feature. But while it's very difficult, it can be quite addicting due to the simplicity of the gameplay. Pattern recognition and stealth are the keys to victory. Also, you can wear masks which act as helpful modifiers. For instance, one allows more firearms to appear and another gives the game a red filter. Stylistically, "Miami" adapts an 80's neon glow aesthetic. The music is atmospheric and the story is mysterious. Overall, this will appeal more to puzzle fans than action fans. I would rate it with an 8.7 out of 10. Expand

Hotline Miami on the PS4 is the same intense, gripping experience that we've already come to love on other platforms, but with the use of the DualShock 4's new capabilities and smooth ergonomics, it easily lives up to the thrills of its past exploits.
