The artwork, gameplay, stories, characters, animations, even the music was an absolute pleasure, and it ran smooth as silk on the ps4 pro. It really puts a lot of other AAA games to shame with all their glitchy glaring flaws and bland gameplay.
An amazing and memorable adventure that I enjoyed every minute of, and will be replaying again and again likely for years to come.
Just thinking about it I want to go back to that world again now. Awesome game.
Now I just need guerrilla to make it in 1st person VR...

I honestly cant remember a game making me stop mid play and say "wow" to myself so many times. There's nothing quite like making your way to the top of a mountain summit and in the distance seeing the head of a Tallneck circling, inviting you to explore undiscovered land.

The content of the game is also superb, a rich story line that engages the player, but not only this, there is tons and tons of material and side quests to complete aside to the main storyline. Horizon can also boast one of the best AI systems I have played, it is clear Guerrilla put many hours of thought into the design of each of the machines which makes for a vast catalogue of different machines all with different strengths and weaknesses. But not only this, the gameplay of the AI is brilliant, the fact you can play this game for 30+ hours and still find it entertaining is testament to this. One of the main reasons for this is the difficulty of some of the machines/quests, I had the game on its hardest setting and a couple times found myself stuck for a good few hours on one machine, however I always felt l was capable and within reach of defeating it. Part of this balance was down to the rationing of resources, I would quite often find myself in a battle and having to carefully ration my resources in order to make any real progress in the battle.

I've never written a review on here but seeing the negative reviews compelled me to, I honestly believe anyone giving this game less than a 8 (even that is too low as far as i'm concerned) has either never actually played it or they are lying because they have an agenda against PS4 (e.g, Xbox Fanboy)

    Pros
    1) Great graphics. It fully utilizes the basic playstation 4 and the pro.
    2) Great gameplay. You choose your approach of gameplay whether direct combat, stealth, or both.
    3) Variety of enemies. Each enemies have their own unique behavior.
    4) Decent story.
    5) Interesting story

    Cons
    1) Collectibles.
    2) No mini games?
    3) Music needs some improvement.
    4) The quests should have better impact aside from the characters showing up at the final battle.
    5) The main villain needs more presence and the final boss happens to be a rehashed enemy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nearly perfect game. I have been an Xbox-er since the original Halo, and it is recent games like this (and Uncharted, Last of Us, Little Big Planet) that made me feel it was finally time to own both. I got the Uncharted 4 PS4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn is my second Playstation game since I had a PS2 some decade or more ago. To sum it up in one sentence: Man, is Xbox missing out. I think if games like this continue to find themselves out of Microsoft's grasp then the console war is going to turn monopoly sooner rather than later, which might be less positive than you originally were thinking. Sure, there will be a chance for everyone to play the great releases, but manufacturers will have less incentive to crank out new and exciting products. The hardware will especially suffer. Back to the game, as I said at the forefront, this is a quite flawless game in most regards. Sure, there are some re-hashed ideas such as Tomb Raider/AC/Uncharted-esque climbing, ziplines, and rapelling, Witcher/Tomb Raider/Far Cry/AC/Deus Ex/etc-esque environment scanning, Far Cry/AC-esque map revealing, crafting that is found in every game under the sun these days, a skill tree that isn't particularly exciting, a familiar stealth aspect complete with 'silent strikes,' and lets not forget the foraging/hunting small game for health and supplies. The weapons/armor system could do with a bit of Borderlands' or even, gulp, Destiny's touch added to it for diversity and randomness of gear. Ok, with what sounds like a host of seen-before and mediocre features, how could this be one of the most exciting worlds ever to be explored by gamers? What makes it so unforgettable?

For starters, all of these 'features' are implemented efficiently and seemlessly. Climbing is fluid and easy, crafting uncomplicated, and stealth accomplishable by even the most heavy-handed players. All added to the game to remain background noise for a thriving ecosystem containing a novel menagerie of what are compelling, spectacular, and biomechanically-lifelike robotic denizens. It is best to go in open-minded with no knowledge of what lies ahead. I compare Horizon's cast of creatures to DOOM's unforgettable lineup of monstrosities that remain etched in everyone's mind as freshly as if a Cacodemon's face was just plugged with the 'ole double-barrel. Numerous detatchable parts and vulnerable components can be targeted, making the creatures' anatomy incredibly realistic- even if it IS wires and circuit boards as opposed to muscle and sinew. Each and every encounter with these mechanical beasts proves to be a memorable one. There are robotic reptiles that lurk in rivers, flying fiends that roam the skies, and even burrowing barbarians that gave me a chance to relive those old Tremors movies. One dreadful denizen in particular happens to be the size of a small skyscraper with a head that resembles Seattle's Space Needle. Luckily, it is so large that it is simply oblivious to its surroundings and the player's attacks must feel like an ant crawling on its carapace.

The story is quite cinematic and there are more than a few inspirational scenes. In conclusion, Horizon is a masterpiece that is a few tiny improvements from being one of the best games ever. For an original IP, Horizon bravely carves out a niche of its own in a tried and tested world of action rpg's. The game forges a powerful new universe teeming with substance.

The enemy's you face in Horizon can be both enjoyable and yet disappointing to face at times as the AI tend to be blind or forgetful which I've noticed only the human AI are mostly acting up and won't attack even though you're face to face with them. Which you may find humanoid enemies less exciting to fight overall as their attack patterns are pretty predictable in most cases and easy to take out compared to certain machines.

The beautiful environment is something I enjoy the most about the game aside from fighting robots. Exploring every corner of the map to find collectible items and stopping occasionally to use photo mode to take screenshots of the moonlit sky and the machines grazing the fields too seeing ants climbing up trees in certain areas of the map. While exploring the world you'll never feel alone as there's always wildlife, humans and machines down every pathway. If you don't enjoy facing enemies though, you can easily avoid them in most cases.

The Story this game has to tell is worth to listen too as well.

This game is definitely a buy.

Sound/Music I also gave it a 10 because of is orchestra theme tribal like background that you will feel immerse with its universe. Game mechanic I will also give a 10 on how they mimic the movement of machines to a leaving animal like for example the watcher. I think they mimic it on a lizard/chicken type movement. The grazer to a wild horse and specially dose Glinthawks like a scavengers roaming the skies. Nod also to the Snapmaws and Thunderjaws who ever made you they must be proud and the superb details on this machines.

I also want to thank Guerrilla for making this game and for the future gamers who will be looking back on this masterpiece. Excited on the next DCL that will be coming out for this game.

Awesome game, great graphic, gameplay and story.

One of the best games i've played since The Last of Us. It's not a perfect game, but checking the reviews from Zelda fanboys that create an account just to rate zelda 10 and this 0, clearly shows how they feel threatened by this soon to be giant of a game franchise. So i rate this 10/10 in hopes of counteracting the wasteful zeroes it gets.

The unfortunate fact of Horizon is that most of what it does well, other games have done better, and they did it with a compelling who and where. This is the game you play after you’ve finished The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, and Far Cry: Primal. It is the greatest hits compilation of open-world games. Yeah, sure, you might want to own it, but the real connoisseur has the original albums.
