I've played Harry Potter games through all generations and this is finally the game we all been waiting for.
The game is a little bit slow sometimes, but in my opinion does not affect the experience.

Fantastic game, not perfect, but quite close. A generously sized open world with a tonne of detail, rich visuals and design. Good character customization and clothing/gear. Excellent combat too with customizable spell layouts and leveling for fun combos. A must have. Expand

Atmosphere and variety of wizarding activities are just out ot words. I think you like this or not depends if you are fan of Wizarding World. That includes to visuals, exploring and story aswell. And as a video game.its loaded with stuff to do, puzzles, finding items, side quests, flying, wizard games, battles, exploring, combat large range of attacks, everything has its interesting way of satisfy curiosity. Ps4 version looks fine, has till 5secs loading times at the doors, long loading when teleport, still did not faced any crashes or framedrops, just a few bugs. Nature details graphics are not without flaws ,even in my 15.8inches monitor, but I do think we must remember ps4 is already past console. Honestly I am daily wondering what game to play next and after tries do not enjoy continueing, but this game gets me excited as a Wizarding World fan, best 55 eur I've ever spent. Will rebuy on ps5 in the future. Expand

Great game for potter heads. Design looks Witcheresque too. Lots of little details to discover. Only a few things missing like quidditch, house cup, morality system, and more player choices affecting gameplay. The few choices you get only change a bit of dialogue until much later.

I decided to give this game a go and, 15 hours in, I am having an absolute blast.

I decided to give this game a go and, 15 hours in, I am having an absolute blast.
From a story that borrows from its source material while simultaneously working to stand alone as it's own fiction, the game is like playing a spinoff "Harry Potter" novel. Without spoiling anything, you arrive at Hogwarts, starting your Wizarding education at 5th year for reasons the story goes on to explain. You get to see that sort of "fish out of water" of being new to magic while being a bit older to allow for more mature themes.
I won't go into the plot at all except to say that it takes place in the late 19th century at a time when most of the characters we know and love would have been too young to be at Hogwarts. This allows the game to make some loose connections to the books and movie universe while also allowing it to stand apart as it's own story.
The gameplay is decidedly open world, action adventure RPG with a Diablo-esque loot color system that will have loothounds (like myself) always looking for the best gear. Even better, I enjoy fashion and this game does not disappoint: Any style of armor you find (which includes slots for gloves, hat, mask/glasses, Scarf, Cloak/Cape, and the Outfit you wear under your cloak or cape) becomes available as a cosmetic appearance. This means you can equip what gives the best stat gains while also coordinating an outfit you like.
You do also get to customize your wand and can find handles for it, generally as quest rewards, adding to the fashion fun!
The open world is fun to traverse whether by broom, mount, or on foot. Professors give you extra work to learn new spells which add a fun "metroidvania" aspect to the game. Coming back to early areas with late game spells can result in some tasty treasure.
As was expected with the PS4, there are some graphical issues. Doors have to load to open which isn't a huge downfall but is slightly immersion breaking. There is also some fogging and texture pop-in present in particularly dense areas, such as common areas at Hogwarts or in Hogsmeade. These don't detract too much and the PS4 Pro handles a lot of the graphical craziness this game does pretty well but it's clear that things would move a bit more smoothly with the SSD present in the PS5.
So, minor graphical niggles aside, this one helps to let me enjoy a childhood dream: Being a wizard at Hogwarts. With crafting, base building aspects, and plenty to discover, this one is sure to cater to any Potter Head!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is one of the best games I have played in a long time. I was a bit sceptical when they announced another delay, but the wait was definitely worth it.

A lot of people might say, "b-b-but the frames, a-a-and draw distance," but I am playing on my PS4 that has an SSD installed (not external), so load times are faster, frames are smoother, and things like draw distance are near nonexistent.

The spells are satisfying with a fair amount of weight, making your character feel more like a god than a 5th-Year Hogwarts student. The flying is amazing, albeit a bit cumbersome at times (especially mounts).

Raising and breed Beasts in the RoR is a novel idea and ups the cute factor.

Sirona Ryan (two first name, because of course) is an okay character, if a bit uppity, and while I am okay with a Trans character, the main problem is that they are involved with the main storyline. It kind of annoyed me that I am the main character, yet this person who is just some rando, is seen as a credible threat to Rookwood and Ranrok, despite having nothing but other people's stories about them as "proof" of their "impressive power." - Last I checked, I am the main character, not Sirona (this is also the 1890s, but it also a world were trans...figuration exists, so I'll forgive the blatant and over-the-top "inclusive dialogue" that is seen throughout, including uses if the word "bigot" and "intolerant," which would not have been used at that time, as well as every second male/female NPC quest giver being gay... In the 1890s).

9/10. Definitely a GOTY contender, but GoW:R will win because Sony owns the awards ceremony.

On older consoles, the magic of Hogwarts Legacy is sometimes broken by technological flaws, but if you've been waiting for a letter from Hogwarts in the past, that's no reason to pass up on this game. Hogwarts Legacy has a fairly basic approach, but the beautiful music, detailed world and fun combat ensure that the game is dripping with atmosphere and also plays nicely.

This is a surprisingly solid adaptation to much less powerful hardware, that delivers the original vision with very minor compromises.

Hogwarts Legacy surprises all and sundry with a solid port on the previous generation of consoles that, even with the expected cuts, manages to maintain all the magic without reducing content or features. So, if you do not have a new generation console and doubted about its quality, you can rest assured and go running for it without fear.
