Even after a beta that was amusing, their plans to release content episodically on such a tight schedule it troubling. This is a terrible product. Please don't support it.

They will be releasing each chunk of that for a full AAA price. In other words, the remake is going to be a three part, digital-only game that will end up costing $180 for all three parts. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Vincent and Yuffie are sold as DLC. That’s the brilliant plan there. What is wrong with this company. They make the sequel to Tomb Raider a timed exclusive and now they bring episodic games and want full price for unknown content. hey are dooming the new Hitman to bad sales because people who don’t have my patience but maybe they dont release the full game in 2017 because of bad sales they bring it earlier who knows. To start releasing a game in monthly tiny parts is BAD on all counts. Playing this was highly underwhelming. I enjoyed absolution, but this has mediocre ps2-3 graphics. Finished in 40 minutes and im not going to replay as there are dozens of much better games to spend my time with. A waste of money to buy. Maybe next January when full game is released it may be worth it.

The first episode was decent but short, it makes absolutely no sense though that they turned Hitman into an episodic game, it seems illogical and unnecessary to release an AAA game in episodes.

The sheer size of the Paris map and the amount of things to do allows for way more replay value than most games. The intro pack is actually 3 levels, 2 training and then one main mission level and all three are great. There are lots of challenges to complete and extra contracts and you will NOT be disappointed by the amount of content at the moment. The graphics are generally stunning; the level design in particular is absolutely stellar. The NPCs would benefit from a little more polish in appearance but there's nothing that looks bad. The gameplay is fantastic (except I wish the button to drag bodies wasn't the same for taking cover, resulting in occasional mistakes) and there are countless ways to approach a mission and its various objectives. The routines of the NPCs is quite convincing; they will sometimes notice the absence of guards that you've taken out and react to other suspicious changes in the environment lending weight to choices you make and keeping you on your toes. The main focus is on stealth but if you want to cause outrageous amounts of damage, guns blazing, you can, but the game becomes a lot harder if you choose combat as it only takes a few gunshot wounds to kill you. Completing challenges and earning points unlocks new ways to start the mission and new weapons or objects to infiltrate with. Overall; great opening installment, definitely worth the price. Expand

If you try and play offline - no saves, no progress, no unlocks. Wow!

How dumb do they think we are.

The whole update system had ruined the gaming industry by allowing companies to release half made games and patch them as necessary when players complain about different components of the story. Don't like the AI wait a month and we will have a patch. Bad server issues, here's a patch. The only thing worse than this for gaming right now is the idea of buying upgrades and in game currency to get better items.

But let's review it as a standalone game. For those who have bought the 'Full Experience', I'm sorry for your wasted money basically - as if the rest of the episodes are of this quality, you may as well as flushed your cash right down the drain.

It's a mess. The core gameplay mechanic is basically a tutorial that you have to try very hard to fail, because the game holds your hand at every point. The game looks massive, but is in reality constrained, with Paris a tantalising but out of reach prospect. The graphics... passable. Story is very much "meh" for what we have, and who cares anyway as you'll only get a glimpse of it for the 45 minutes you'll play before the end. Sure, if you go for the full completion, you might get, say, 2 hours out of it, but there's no incentive to do so.

Add to that completely unnecessary and consumer unfriendly DRM and you have yet another Square Enix turd on our hands.

Yes, I admit I have a bias, as the whole core of me rejects the notion of episodic AAA gaming - I find it ludicrous. But if you judge it as a standalone title and ignore that facet completely, it's still a complete failure of a title.

Oh, and once again, a message to the major review sites - shame, shame on you. For absolutely nobody to call this game out for what it is is a massive indictment on how rotten your journalism is.

This score might sound unreasonably harsh, but I cannot honestly give it anymore.

The AI is inconceivably stupid. On the second mission (with the plane) I shot the target from on top of the roof (through the ceiling window) with a solider only 5 feet to the target's right. He did nothing but got on his radio and said something like "I don't think it's anything we have to worry about."

Opening AND closing doors with the triangle button? No ability to run? You can't climb over a small box, but you can climb a tall fence (the whole thing really forces you into specific scenarios). You can't jump over railing on the boat and drop to the level below? The crowds feel like lifeless cardboard cutouts. The graphics are very pastel-like cartoony. It all feels VERY DATED.

The list goes on and on; either you play EXACTLY how THEY want you to play - or - waltz through each mission in a few (uninteresting) minutes.

If you're a "completionist" and wish to do each mission 60,000 different ways, this may appeal. Otherwise, it's a very amateur feeling title that would be more at home on a last gen console.

It has nothing on the earlier instalments. AND the episodic release is terrible.

Yeah the 1 Paris level have some re-playability but you will reach master level 20 in less then 3 hours and that is basicly 100% of the first episode and tutorial. So if you feel the urge to beat the game after your first taste you CANT! You have to wait another 6 months before you can do that. Always online DRM so

And this is not the first time this company won't let me enjoy a game I just both. Last year I got Just Cause 3, and it was a huge disappointment to me. Mostly because it sucked, but the always online requirement certainly didn't help. Hitman, on the other hand, I really liked, but I can't play it because I keep getting disconnected from the servers.

So I'm not even frustrated anymore, I'm just sad Square Enix won't let me play this game properly and I'm pretty sure every other game released by the company will have this very same issue.

It becomes boring real quick and makes me get bored of the levels. I like all the levels on a disc to play through them as i please, you know, variety. You're not stuck with just 1 level. And i generally don't like downloadable games. I much prefer physical discs. Anyway, being a Hitman fan i purchased the intro pack to test the waters. And what a mistake that was! The game doesn't even work half the time. It freezes and crashes on the title screen and kicks you from the servers while playing. You can sink ages into the level only for it to kick you from the game and not save your progress, forcing you to start all over again. Then the developers, IO Interactive said that this game wouldn't require an internet connection to play it, that it wouldn't be an always online game. They made this clear. However, it IS an always online game and DOES require an internet connection to play the single player campaign. If you want to unlock weapons etc and keep them, you have to be connected to the internet! Yup, you cannot even used scoped weapons unless you have the game connected to the internet. Then the game doesn't even stay connected to the internet half the time. So, i feel really let down by the developers lies to sell this game and the entire download only and bizarre release model. I will be pursuing a full refund as the game simply isn't fit for purpose. After the disastrous Hitman Absolution, i really didn't think it could get any worse. But it has, it has gotten much worse.
