Great start for an open beta! Really easy to be critical of the game but when people slate it for being not complete given its in beta then that is a bit ridiculous.

The gameplay is great. The look and feel is post apocolyptic which is what they are going for and generally there are very few bugs for a beta. Its great to play a battle royale game on PS4 without being blinded by childish

Its great to play a battle royale game on PS4 without being blinded by childish cartoon characters and having to build tree houses to win. As for the critics who claim "its nothing on PubG", really.... because the original H1Z1 king of the hill was created by the PubG creator. They are essentially the same game.

    Great start.

    What I don't like:
-the drop into the map (let us at least choose a quadrant)
-While i like the simplified inventory, switching weapons in the middle of a gunfight is horrific, -switching weapons in general is horrific
-car damage physics on your own and opponents cars is laughably bad.
-still a big fan of attaching my own stuff to guns, that is not an option here
-as far as i can tell, car on car damage is not present so its too easy for people to hide behind their own car
-shotguns still have too much range
    -no duos yet??
-some game changing bugs/glitches, which I am sure will be fixed over time
-it is free, so there are gonna be cheaters---

Overall, I really do enjoy this game...it's sort of a PUBG Lite...much easier controls. I purchased the pre-order bundle and I will continue to support these devs. This imo is a pretty underrated game.

    Played this last night for a few hours on my PS4Pro, I think it's really good, I'll list what I like and dislike below;

+ I like the fact that your parachute jump location is random each time.
+ I like the that the only way to get the best weapons is from supply drops/crates, this creates a "rat race" to a supply drop when you see one incoming from the air.. It keeps the action flowing nicely, it means players can't just sit in a bush/building hiding all game while the rest of the participants take each other out.
+ The aim assist isn't as strong as Fortnite
+ Can pick up head armor and body armor, If you take a headshot wearing head armor, your head armor will deplete before your health does, same for body armor. It's a nice touch. You see someone wearing head armor but no body armor, you wanna shoot them in the chest and not the head so there health goes down straight away.

    Dislikes:
    - The aiming down sights needs tuning, it can feel a bit floaty at times, you either aim too far left or too far right, needs to be more responsive/fluid.
    - The graphics aren't amazing, and everything is a bit bland / dull looking.
    - Switching weapons isn't efficient enough, you can press a button to switch weapons, or hold down the button for a radial wheel, the problem is, if you only press the change weapon button, you can't see which weapon you're switching to until it's switched. The only way to see which weapons you're holding is via the radial wheel (unlike Fortnite where all your weapons are displayed in the bottom right corner, so you know how many times you need to press the switch weapon button to get to that weapon). It's got me killed a few times where I've been frantically trying to switch to my shotgun close quarters but I've pressed the switch weapon button too many times not knowing which slot the shotgun is in.
    - As far as I can see, you can only tell which weapons are better by their colour (White, Green, Blue, Purple etc) .. I may be wrong but I can't see any stats on the weapons to show DPS, Range, Reload Speed etc.. so it makes it difficult to tell whether you're swapping a weapon for a better or worse one.

I prefer this to Fortnite because it's more raw and realistic. The game is no where near perfect, needs a lot of tweaks, especially with the aiming mechanics, they feel a bit janky at the moment when aiming down sights, but for what this game is, I think it's worth a 7.5. If they iron out quite a few things I'd definitely be giving 9 (for what it is).

It is a great game. It has bugs, yes... but they kind of make it more human to me, like in the early days of multiplayer. It doesn't try to be flash or fancy, it is just gun play, driving and tactics. I saw many people criticise this FREE game and I think they are wrong, it has been the most fun I had on ps4. I hope Daybreak keep working on it to make it as good as it can be, it is the original B.R after all and should be kept going for as long as possible. Expand

the game is good but the dev team is lazy and at times this can be frustrating.

Being the first battle royale game may have been enough a few years ago, but in the current market where Fortnite is the biggest thing in the world, it takes greater ambition than “ugly but functional” to stand out. The best thing I can say about H1Z1 is that it’s free, but even so, I still can’t recommend it when its biggest competition is also free and offers a far better version of this same premise.

H1Z1 doesn't shake up the battle royale formula in any big way, but instead offers a simple, streamlined experience. It differentiates itself from its PC counterpart to its benefit by revamping the core systems at play, giving you just enough to work with in battle without being overwhelmed. But it's still missing diversity in its action that would create lasting appeal.

Compared to H1Z1 on PC, this port is not only technically worse off, but the generally superficial battle royale is also limited in terms of content, thus influencing tactics and tension on the battlefield.
