Absolutely stunning game, awesome fighting. I've been playing it since October, and love it. Probably the most beautiful fighting game out now, runs at 1080p and 60fps. This is a must buy for fighting game fans.

As far as an easy to get into, there are plenty of training options to help a casual gamer. This is definitely a must have for any PS4 owners library.Definitely one of my top favorite games this year and hopefully we get DLC updates for more characters I am looking forward to seeing Jam and Baiken. There's a ton of combos you can pull off and the game plays smoothly, and I have yet to experience lag in online battles, even when I play against people from other regions like Japan. Yes, the character roster is a bit small, but they're all great and each have their own unique charm. Expand

If u are new to the series then i recommend you read up on the lore as the story wont make sense if you don't.

But i`m sure it will be added as (urgh) DLC later on.

Aside from that this game is the best fighting game on PS4 at the moment!

A really good 2D fighting game. No complaints with graphic, the native resolution is big and the movement is fluid, stunning visual. The rooster not so much for my personal taste, but every character have depth and unique trait of gameplay.

But now, the game makes a comeback, and what a comeback it is. I'm not really a graphic whore to be honest. If it looks nice then it's a bonus but gameplay and atmosphere is what really takes a cake for me.. but I must say that holy hell the game looks absolutely amazing. The best looking fighter out there now, period. If you like anime style or not, doesn't change the fact that makers did a hell of a job. An Unreal 3 powered engine with cel-shaded face paint makes it look like a real high-quality anime show. Kinda similar to CyberConnect2's level, but the models here are even more fluid and crisp. The fighting is a mix of BlazBlue and Street Fighter 4. Crazy moves are there and you still need tehnique to pull it off. There is a nice and long tutorial but still you'll have to get ready to memorize all the combo strings. New engine means that they had to start from scratch when making characters, so some fan favorites are gonna be missing, but they will probably be in the extended version. Personally I had some problem playing online as lag was present on few occasions, overall netcode is so and so for now. I'm sure they will sort that out later or maybe it was just me. Sory mode is kinda all over the place, so to grasp it all you really have to know some stuff from previous games. But yeah, if you are into fighters, then try this one. Originally wanted to give a normal score but seeing how people are putting negative for no goddamn reason I'll put the max one. Peace! :3 Expand

Even if you're new to the genre you can get all the knowledge by the training mode with a tutorial, combo training and missions that are great to get in or back to it, if you're already familiar with the series.

    - Most of the main cast are back, save for a few (Baiken, Jonny, Bridget, Jam, etc). Movelist remains largely unchanged.
    - Very pretty graphics. With the Unreal Engine 3, Arc System Works has done something amazing: rendering the game in 3Dbut keeping the 2D sprite fighting style. The camera view changes occasionally to showcase the 3D models.
    - 60 fps game play. Really smooth experience.
    - Unlockable soundtrack from previous games: For people who prefer tracks from GGx2 and GG2, there is a limited selection available for unlock.
    - Network features: while confusing at first to navigate, the online mode offers lobby creation, server selection, and spectating. Its always nice to have options and spectate mode.

    Cons:
    - Limited roster: As mentioned above some of the previous characters did not return.
    - Netcode: While its tolerable, my personal experiences with online matches has kind of been hit or miss. Maybe thats because I am running on wireless.

Overall its a pretty solid package. If you are a fan of Blazblue or Guilty Gear you should definitely give it a try. If you are someone looking for a fun but solid fighting game to get into I would say check it out. Best if you have some friends to play with.

Longtime fans of GG will likely pick this game up no matter what (like myself) so I'll restrict my review to those contemplating an initial purchase of a GG game. I imagine these fans to be fans of 2D fighters, and wondering what GG does that separates itself from the competitors. Here's my breakdown of what GGXRDS does right, and what you may dislike if you are new to the series:Longtime fans of GG will likely pick this game up no matter what (like myself) so I'll restrict my review to those contemplating an initial purchase of a GG game. I imagine these fans to be fans of 2D fighters, and wondering what GG does that separates itself from the competitors. Here's my breakdown of what GGXRDS does right, and what you may dislike if you are new to the series:

    Pros:

Gorgeous animations that look beautiful on the PS4. The characters appear 2D until the camera pans during specials and victories to show beautifully rendered 3D models in crisp, dazzling animation.

Characters are all different, interesting and thought provoking. (As opposed to Ken in a Gi, Ryu in a Gi, Dan in a Gi; Scorpion in a yellow ninja suit, Sub zero in an identical yellow ninja suit; Marth and marginally different Roy; you get the picture...) Each character is meticulously thought out so that form either cleverly masks style or accompanies it beautifully. They're all fascinating, often evoking of religious, mythical or literary theme.

    Crisp, responsive game play.

    Pro/Con:

For some this is a pro, for others a con: Guilty Gear is not for novice gamers. Sure there is an "easy" difficulty mode, but the game isn't truly satisfying on an "easy" mode in the same way something like Street Fighter or MK is. You'll find yourself unable to perform huge combos or awesome specials, but rather just throw basic attacks. To deliver the satisfying combos, the kind that make you go "oh, yes, that felt right," you need to put in the work. This is because in a lot of fighters, they simply rely on you putting in the right sequence, and something like X,X,O,X, R1 might unleash a huge barrage of attacks. In GG that same combo might need to be entered X,X, (wait for character to fall) O, (wait for gun to unholster) X (wait for spin move) R1. The point being, instead of just having sequence to worry about, sequence AND timing come into play more than most other fighters. And while this can be frustrating at first, it is hella satisfying as you keep going. Hence, a pro/con.

    Cons:

The story mode isn't fun. Maybe that's just me, but I found myself sitting around for ten or fifteen minutes sloshing through dialogue. I'm not saying this is a huge con, since a lot of fans really liked the "anime in a game" aspect of GGXRDS, but it wasn't for me.

The online play left me wanting. It didn't have as many modes/features as contemporaries, and a game like MKX really put it to shame in that regard. Lag isn't really an issue, but more work could have been put into this part of the game.

Overall I highly recommend GGXRDS to any fan of 2D fighters. It offers incredibly interesting and beautifully rendered characters; deep, responsive game play; and hugely satisfying rewards to hardcore fighting fans. The benefits far outweigh the faults.

Guilty Gear Xrd, as in "third X" because the last game was XX pronounced X2 which came after Guilty Gear X it's very confusing, don't think about it. Anyway Xrd was the first game to come out on the PlayStation 4 and used the new hardware to its advantage and then some, sporting absolutely beautiful 3D models that look almost as good as the series old sprite animation, in a genre where making the dimensional leap often results is gross doughy models, think Street Fighter, ArcSys nailed it with its anime inspired style.

Story wise, Sign picks up where Overture left off and remains the only reason you should ever play Overture. It follows Sol, Sin, Ky and newcomers Ramlethal and Elphelt Valentine, a name you'll recognise from the antagonist of Overture, see? Told you it was worth it. The story also includes the characters absent from Overture, namely Johnny and May, Venom, Millia and Zato-1, as well as Faust, Leo, Chipp and more, so the story feels notably less isolated than Overtures did. It also has absolutely zero gameplay, that's right, starting from Sign all the way till now with Strive, Guilty Gear comes with not only Daisuke's new soundtrack, but also his anime. The story is split up into chapters which all have an A and B part, which range about 25-30 minutes, so you could very much watch this like a season of anime if you wanted, and Arcade Mode is still there if you want a more traditional fighting game experience... Tekken... Looking at you...

In terms of the online, I don't play fighting games online because I like being happy, so moving swiftly along.

The game is unbeatable in terms of its graphics, soundtrack and performance. The game runs smooth as butter and works at 60fps, while ArcSys maintain an anime style, so characters move at around 24fps in keeping with that, and it does wonders for the games unique style. As for the soundtrack, I think the Xrd games had the best ost of the entire series up to that point, with Strive taking that mantle in my mind as of recent, but Sign is unmistakably badass, really gives the "Lets rock" tagline some extra oomph.

While not my favourite in the series, Sign is up there as one of the most unique and artistically rich fighting game on the ps4, with a fun story, great fighting and superb sound design and musical tracks, and it only gets better from here.
