Dec 12, 2014This is my game of the year I absolutely loved it... It gives great props in the form of chozo statues from Metroid to get your power-ups and gives suttle references to a lot of other retro games. I can't wait for a part 2

Sep 8, 2023A simple story, with good plot. A simple gameplay with great progression. A lot of fun solo or in party.

May 9, 2015Charming and funny story. Beautiful design. Great combat and mechanics. Got it for free of PSPlus so I may be biased.
Sticking to walls while platforming is a pain in 1 or 2 occasions but otherwise fine.
It achieved what it set out to accomplish, a funny metroidvania game, 9/10 for me. -

Nov 6, 2015Great art style, great sound work, great gameplay, great fun. If you've played Metroidvania games, you will know what to expect from this one, and it's fun when it comes down to playing it. The combat is responsive, and even when you feel overwhelmed it doesn't feel as if you can't complete it.

May 15, 2015I had a lot of fun playing this game. It's easy, but also challenging. If you want to complete it at 100%, you need at least 15 hours (the first time :D). The two different switching worlds are a great idea.
I'm so close to the platinum trophy! -

Jun 22, 2015This is a great game. its a bit difficult, harkening back to the days of old when video games didnt hold your hand so its not for everyone, but it's bright colors, catchy music and game play can absorb you if you give it a chance.

Feb 7, 2019Astounding level design with an homage to the OG Super Mario Bros. This is one of a few games that made me scream frustratingly (and joyfully). Definitely one of the most well-crafted platformer I've ever played.

Mar 19, 2021I remember playing this game a few years ago and I have to say that it was a solid experience.

Jul 5, 2014A fantastic game in many aspects aside from being burdened with the usual stigma of beat 'em ups: unresponsive & cluttered controls with the peppering of shoddy hit detection. Aside from those two mechanics, it stands out among the genre and is an overall enjoyable experience.

Jul 2, 2014A solid platformer filled with puns and references to well-known games. Fans of beat 'em ups won't be disappointed being able to violently thrash enemies into eachother with strings of combos.

Jul 23, 2015I must say that this game really surprised me. I didn't expect for it to be this entertaining. "Guacamelee" is a very fun game to play. It is a bit challenging in certain parts but nothing is impossible. This game also has some very funny puns. The story is nice and so is the combat, but it can get repetitive.

CD-ActionOct 22, 2014If you’re not familiar with the previous PC version, the Super Turbo Championship Edition is worth a look. [Sept 2014, p.59]

Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaAug 25, 2014Packed with added content and smart mechanical revisions. This PS4 version is worth revisiting, even if the original was nacho thing. [September 2014, p77]
