Loved the fun and zany atmosphere and art style. Also liked the puzzle platforming. The combat was okay, but got repetitive in the long run...I enjoyed the game for a couple hours, but that was it before I got tired of the game.

This game reminds me of my ex wife, in that it can be super confusing but I'm still drawn to it sexually. Unlike my ex wife, it is really funny and entertains for more than 10 minutes. There is about 10 hours of gameplay here. The combat can be repetitive, but who really cares if you're having fun. The main downside to this game are the "puzzles" you must solve to progress in the came. ToThis game reminds me of my ex wife, in that it can be super confusing but I'm still drawn to it sexually. To be honest, I'm still stuck in the Water Temple from Ocarina of Time, so I'm not exactly a stud when it comes to puzzles in video games. Much like Forrest Gump, I am not a smart man. Unlike Forrest Gump, my wife doesn't have AIDS lolol.... because I don't have a wife anymore. Anyways, my 2-year-old stepson must be a friggin genius because he helped me through the puzzle parts of Guacamelee.
In summation, this game is pretty good, but didn't hold my attention like it did for other individuals. It's probably a good thing because I need to get started on my taxes. Oh shoot, it's already June 17?! Oh wait, I have no income so it doesn't even matter. Hah! Suck it IRS

This game is great for what it is. The way i put it is, i never expect much out of it and it always exceeds that. Its funny. Platforming is good and challenging, could use a little more leeway in the landing zones though. Combat is about as challenging as it needs 2 be.Like the addition of grapple, rather than just melee.Only complaint really is the blocky level design. Well i might be wrong think thars been sum in fighting games ive played. Either way, haha ole! Expand

Guacamelee! won't wow you with any impressive new game mechanics, but in a console generation where couch co-op seems to be getting overlooked its a welcomed "ultra edition" port from last-gen platforms. Every level is unique and visually stimulating with bright, vibrant color and subject matter (Day of the Dead) that leaves no shortage of creative characters and environments. Honestly with the lack of a compelling story line this ended up being a saving grace for me. The humor is there, but its watered down and repetitive and unfortunately there are moments when the game seems to take itself a little too seriously which kills the comedy a little for me. Overall a fun romp to conquer with a friend, with tons to see and lots of side missions to complete. The sound is good not great, the story is trite and rife with cliche's, none of them edgy enough to be funny or original, but Guacamelee! doesn't let that stop it from creating an entertaining game with solid (non-inventive) game-play. Plus its free right now...hence the "7" score instead of the original "6" which is my rating for this game if you had to pay more than 5$ for it. Expand

Guacamelee is a side scroll beat em up game that may capture peoples experiences in different ways. I unfortunately, was not one of those people. This game was fun in the beginning but lost its allure fast. I choose very carefully which game I buy, and I will say I am happy this is free!

A really fun game and a great way to spend a few hours. Its simple to get into, but the game play will keep you entertained. I think its still free (at this time) one xbone, so if you looking for a good game check it out.

It's a fun complete edition of the great Vita game but it added a few whole sections, another boss, and unblockable attacks which, I think, fail at improving on a great game. It's still fun and fantastic but I'd say the Vita version is better.

A fun and charming metroidvania, Guacamelee engages players with a tried and tested formula and a creative coat of paint. It has aesthetic appeal and solid enough gameplay. However the combat and platforming can become a little tedious towards the end. The story comes off as generic as well.

Great setting and plenty of self awareness glibness in presentation. The game itself is pretty fun, though some of the move chains you need to navigate certain sections were more than a little but frustrating, but I usually did the old reliable walk away and come back the next day and got past those places. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind this style of game not takingGreat setting and plenty of self awareness glibness in presentation. Packed with added content and smart mechanical revisions. This PS4 version is worth revisiting, even if the original was nacho thing. [September 2014, p77]
