Alright I might be alone here, but this was terribly disappointing. I thought FPS mode and heists along with the update to graphics would be a sufficient enough change to breathe life back into this already awesome game. It wasn't. Upon first impressions, I thought technically it's quite impressive that GTA5 runs reasonably well on PS4; however, not being able to maintain 30fps is a bit of a joke in this day and age. Yes, the map is large and there's stuff going on all around you, but when driving down a road and witnessing 22-23fps (which makes it's virtually impossible to drive well at speed) it's not impressive, it's actually irritating. The PS4 (and XB1) simply cannot achieve a solid 1080p/30fps with GTA5. Rockstar clearly had to make the game 1080p, otherwise it probably wouldn't have looked a significant amount better than the PS360 version.

It's no surprise to me that the latest generation of consoles can't manage 1080p/60fps in the bigger games, but if they can't run a game at a solid 30fps, then turn down effects; remove details; dial down draw distance; whatever, to maintain a SOLID 30fps. It'll still look better than the previous version and a SOLID 30fps (as exhibited perfectly by Forza Horizon 2) plays well enough.

So, if dipping frame rates bother you, driving anywhere slightly busy on the PS4 version of GTA5 will be an irritating experience.

Apart from that it's typical GTA fare. However, GTA5, to me, feels like the fun and interested stuff in GTA3/4 (you know, the things you could spend time on when not wanting to play the main story) have been stripped out and replaced with nothing. Maybe I've simply had my fill of GTA games (I'm 39 and been playing computer games for 30 years) and the childish repetition has finally smacked me in the face. I don't honestly know.

Whatever the issue, I find the game boring. Same old, same old. Nothing new here. Maybe the online gamers will find more pleasure from it.

As a newcomer, GTA5 is probably an amazing experience. I find it an average timewaster.

I'm a huge huge fan of the GTA series and have grown up with them. Each game has given me many hours of fun in solo campaign mode. GTAV is no exception. However, even though GTAV is a great game that is providing me with lots of fun, i've gotten way more fun from previous GTA titles. GTAV is an undeniably an amazing technical achievement. It is just the map, the story and lack of content that lets it down. My favourite GTA game is GTA San Andreas from 2004. I'm still playing it 11 years on. The map was huge, extremely varied and well made, the story was brilliant fun and the gameplay and game world was brilliant fun. So when i heard GTAV was returning to San Andreas i got super excited. But then after i got my hands on the game and made my way around the map. It just isn't that varied. They say it is bigger than GTA San Andreas and several other game worlds combined. But it doesn't even feel bigger than GTA San Andreas. The original GTA San Andreas map is so so varied it never gets boring, even 11 years on. GTAV's map got boring pretty quickly. The story is real bad and just plain boring. It is knowehere near as deep as previous GTA games. Maybe because in GTAV you have 3characters to play which bounce off each other. So there really isn't much time or room for them to develop. My favourite GTA story was GTAIV and the character Niko Bellic by a long way. That story was amazing. Sadly GTAV is probably the worst story in the series. The missions simply aren't as fun or as varied as previous GTA games either. I found them a boring chore rather than fun. This time the missions involve planning and prepping ready for bigger heists. The planning and prepping is just plain dull and very basic like the story. The story seems far shorter than previous GTA games too. And there isn't as much to do in the gameworld compared to previous games. The graphics are very impressive, the game world is incredible, the sound is good, just a shame about the map, story, lack of content and characters. Expand

While overall a good release of an existing modern classic, it needed more optimisation. The frame drops while driving fast cars in the city are almost constant on the PS4, and since that's one of the main activities in the game more people should really have called them out on it.

Story is realistic and entertaining. And it works well with new multi-character system but too short for me. Shooter mechanics is okay and challenging if you turn off auto aim. (but don't expect RDR or GTA 4 mechanics) Game world is huge. But after 3 hours of gameplay it feels lifeless. Game map has no role on game progression. All parts of map are accessible. Almost all vehicles are presented from beginning of the game. And there is no more "i'll unlock other side of the map" motivation. Last and disappointing part of the game is driving mechanics. I think Rockstar tried to grab NFS and Midnight Club players with new car physics but i am out their scope. This game has too many casual design elements when compared to old GTA games. Non of these elements bothered me except driving. Driving the fastest car of the game nearly feels same as driving the slowest one (steering experience). If you're not obsessed with old game mechanics like I am, i guarantee you'll enjoy with this high quality experience. Expand

I could discuss how this is the first "Grand Theft Auto" game that I played fully, I could talk about how scared I am that people are already going to hound me for giving this anything lower than a 9, but I realized that I don't really need to introduce this too heavily because at this point, "Grand Theft Auto V" has not only been one of the most successful video games of all time, but it's also been one of the most profitable pieces of entertainment (film, TV, gaming, music, etc.) to exist in the world. With 95 million copies shipped (as of May 2018) and over $6 billion in revenue, chances are you've heard a fair deal about this game. It's also one of the most well-reviewed games in the history of this website, and it was the recipient of a heavy amount of awards and praise, with some going as far as to call it one of the greatest games ever. So, it comes with a bit of disappointment that after playing through and beating the main campaign...I think the game is merely "good." Not "excellent," not "all-time great," just "good."
"Grand Theft Auto V" definitely has a lot going for it in regards to its technical achievements. The large open-world of Los Santos is absolutely stunning, and there are so many great, small details throughout Los Santos that make it so fascinating and grand to explore. The game also has a great idea going with its multiple-protagonist style of play, and it also helps that each protagonist is very compelling. The game features some excellent (if very controversial) writing and acting, and the characterization is top-notch. Once again, Michael, Franklin and (especially) Trevor really help bring the game to life. The controls are also strong, free-roaming around Los Santos and engaging in anarchy can be very fun, and the addition of Grand Theft Auto Online helps to make things even more fun.
All of this said, though, I feel like several aspects of the gameplay are what hold me back from really loving the game. I've heard a number of critics talk about how "varied" the missions were in the game, but I just have to wonder if I was playing the same game, because I honestly found the mission structure to be too frustratingly repetitive. And while it is satisfying when you beat all of the missions, and the heists can be pretty enjoyable, it almost feels to me like you're just doing the same things over and over. On top of that, there are just so many minor frustrations with the gameplay that really add up to dampen the experience for me, such as the poor controls of several vehicles, and the fact that the game allows you to skip missions after three fails, thus kind of ruining the essentialness of completing them. If you can purposely fail them to continue on with the game, where's the actual gameplay motivation? Honestly, given all of those frustrations, and with the fact that people were calling this a game that would bridge the seventh generation of gaming into the eighth, I would've been terrified playing this in 2013 and seeing it as a "bridge game," because I certainly wouldn't want to live in a generation of games where you can literally speed through a game by purposely failing at it.
I know, I know, I'm being very critical of the game, and I do enjoy it, honestly. It's a very well-made game, but given that it holds something of a hierarchy in gaming and is frequently classified as one of the all-time greats (and one of the most popular), I'm obviously going into it with my standards set at an extreme high, and it just doesn't quite reach them. Yes, it's certainly an enjoyable game, and I can see the appeal of it, but with the fact that everyone says it's one of the best games ever made, I can name a good chunk of games that I would still say are better than this, a few of which have even been released in the five years since this. That said, though, it's still a solidly enjoyable game, and I did have my share of fun with it, so I would definitely recommend giving it a shot. I just hope you get a little more out of it than I did.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. GTA games seem to get a 90+% review score by default, but what has really changed within the franchise since GTA3 came out on the PS2? The core gameplay (although much more refined in later versions) is very much the same as ever. This is the main problem with GTA these days. Apart from the odd spike (in gameplay) it suffers from being far to familiar in the gameplay department. Drive from dot to dot in order to advance story. Repeat. STORY: Not as good or engaging as the GTA 3 series or GTA 4. The fact you can rotate between three characters is really neat, but depersonalizes the experience and I don't feel as invested in three characters as I felt invested in Tommy, CJ, or Niko. Aside from that, it's what you've come to expect from a GTA game. Drugs, sex, money, violence.

GAMEPLAY: Nothing different here; the same ol' GTA formula, with a plethora of somewhat entertaining minigames. Things are upgraded, a version of the skill system is back in, but not as nitpicky and precise as getting fat with CJ in San Andreas. There's a nice attention to detail with how the world works, and does have a few improvements to the sometimes Stupid AI. The First-Person Mode is a gimmick feature. This isn't a FPS, and it doesn't handle like one.

GRAPHICS: A step up from the last generation, and almost on par with the PC version. The game looks really nice, but there is a noticeable drop in framerates on the console. Why they couldn't make it a 60fps release like many other re-released games (Dark Souls II) is beyond me.

ONLINE: Hit or miss. It was a fun gimmick to try out, but hearing a 13 year old cuss you out after he's mowed you over with his chrome-plated trumpet-blaring bulletproof Urban Assault Vehicle while you're trying to figure out how the hell to get money with a generic 9mm pistol isn't the best experience. Leveling is a grind of fetch quests based on some of the single-player missions and get boring after a while. I would only recommend Heists (the complicated, difficult missions online) with a crew you know; otherwise, you'll be frustrated when some punk screws it up and fails the mission. The load times are awful, and the connection issues are noticeable when you have to wait another minute to get out of your empty Lobby.

I will start with the positives: it is a beautiful game and a techinical master piece in terms of open world game design. The open world is a good size with lots of things to do aswell as an enjoyable story and memorable characters and has many unique features and mechanics that are unseen almost all other games. It is a true open world sand box; you can fly helicopters, compete in triathlons and street races, complete a range of different missions and even play darts and tennis. You will not get bored when exploring the game. The problems i have with the game are simple things; the characters dont feel right; they are a little floaty uncontrollable and unresponsive which makes it difficult online, as do the handling of the guns. When you aim there is a very strong lock on which doesn't feel natural and free aim it is a pain to aim with. Also, the stealth system sucks as much as i like the idea that you become more stealthy the more time you are in stealth mode but it is wasted as the AI always know where you are. The wanted system is a pain too as it is very anoying how cops instantly know your exact location after commiting a crime and escaping is a lot of work. My last complaint is the online focus; while it is good the game is being supported years after release the prices of items are ridiculous making you either grind for hundreds of hours or buy in game currency with real money. There also isn't single player support either which is a waste. Despite the problems i have, It is a game worth playing that the masses will enjoy although i would call 'Watch Dogs' a better game since it has none of the problems listed above. Expand

Great bounce back from the gray 4th installment to me. However, story is only 69 missions (lol...not) not split this way but really only 23 per character but not even how it splits. They need to being back Vice City's property management each one had its own mission story line then once done you get paid. Also the radio is soooo boring. Needs a GTA 3 commercial n talk station, Vice city/San andreas well known rock/hip hop/pop songs. Map is big but really feels like an empty shell after beating short lived story. All the side collection items just are not worth the trouble. Overall, solid installment compared to IV but too short and hollow Expand

    This game definitely doesn't deserve a 10.

This is a last-gen port. And sometimes it shows. Sometimes the graphics are great, sometimes it's clear that they could definitely be better, especially the geometry. The game handles much better than previous titles. Voice acting is top notch, some scenes are hilarious. The story is just OK, though. Some missions did feel a bit disjointed.

The game handles much better than previous titles. Voice acting is top notch, some scenes are hilarious. The story is just OK, though. Some missions did feel a bit disjointed. And I didn't really like the characters that much. They're all nuts. I guess Michael is supposed to be the straight(est) man, but even he's a bit much. Characters rant and yell at each other often, it got annoying at times. On the other hand, I loved the story in Chinatown wars. It was hilarious without being nauseatingly psychotic. It was great. I wish a full-fledged console GTA had a story that was in the same style as Chinatown wars.

The biggest problem with the single player is the lack of variety in missions. After San Andreas the series started taking mission types away, which I hated. GTA5 changes things up but the missions still feel a bit underdeveloped. In fact, the entire single player campaign feels kind of underdeveloped. Unique mission types seem a bit too rare and are over with fairly quick. What about buying and selling drugs? I loved that in Chinatown wars. My main complain then is that Rockstar should've brought more elements from previous GTA games and elaborated on them. There're too many standard fare driving missions. Also, money never seemed to be an issue. By the time I got a plane to do money missions it didn't matter, the game was almost over anyways. Add or add more missions in which you use all three characters, fly a jet, jetpack, gathering a posse, buy/sell drugs. And early in the game when money is actually tight. And THEN you work the story in. Story revolves around gameplay, not the other way around!

Of course, their focus now is on multiplayer which is total b.s. I'm not crazy about multiplayer and I sure as hell don't want to play with moronic teenagers. After you pass the game there's little to care about other than multiplayer if you're a teenager. There isn't much hope that GTA or any rockstar game's single player experience will be very evolutionary. It's to be seen if Red Dead Redemption 2's single player will actually be as good or better than the first. Rockstar seems content on being a company that just makes MMO's. But that's where all the kids practically give them a license to print money, so what do we expect?

-Las prostitutas tienen mejores interacciones y mejores gráficas
    Contras:

Well, it is a pretty disappointing game for me. As a single player game fan, I thought GTA V has a weak story and its missions were repetitive and uncreative. After finishing the game, I thought the game empty and didn't have much to do after it. Probably gamers that like multiplayer games will loves its online mode, but the campaign is hugely disappointing for me.

If we are talking about the single player game then, in my eyes, it is a comfortable 10. Enagaging storyline, huge open world, tons of stuff to do both main quests and side quests and just a really cool sandbox to mess around in if you don't want to follow any of the narrative - honestly I was expecting big things and it was better than I expected, a true accomplishment. However, if we talk about GTAV Online then the story changes and not for the best.

GTAV Online has huge potential and, in some of the formats it presents, it succeeds massively. The developers have continued to add thorough, new content as and when available and, for a long time, kept it fresh. There are multiple problems though and these shall be listed below:

    - Sharkcards. These are at the heart of the big issues online. It is very difficult to make money due to the low financial gains you make in the various modes (seriously even cocaine dealing is programmed to make only marginal profits). This incentivizes players to do one of two things: 1) buy a sharkcard; 2) stop playing. That leads to empty servers, a lack of atmosphere and the death of online. It also leads to the hackers (level 8000 people this is you) though certainly not the only reason. I cannot make peace with what is a blatant attempt by Rockstar to rake in even more money through these microtransactions - if the financial rewards were even close to realistic for completing missions then it would be palatable - that they so obviously skew the game to try and maximize profit grates on me enormously.

I cannot score the game a 10 when developers do what they have done to the Online mode - it is unforgivable and a common trend in the gaming world to try and milk every last drop of money from the players - it ain't on in my opinion. I'd give single player a 10 - Online a 5, total 7.5 downgraded to a 7 for lascivious business practice.

It's a big improvement over GTA IV in many aspects, graphics, scope, depth, shooting mechanics, driving.. etc. The only problem is, the story is so over the place, and the characters so unlikable, that I find myself preferring GTA IV (and its followup Story DLCs) over it. An excellent remake of an outstanding game that doesn't merely come with cosmetic improvements. What does it mean? You certainly need to have this piece at home, even if you have the original version. [Issue#248]
