Alright I might be alone here, but this was terribly disappointing. I thought FPS mode and heists along with the update to graphics would be a sufficient enough change to breathe life back into this already awesome game. It wasn't. Upon first impressions, I thought technically it's quite impressive that GTA5 runs reasonably well on PS4; however, not being able to maintain 30fps is a bit of a joke in this day and age. Yes, the map is large and there's stuff going on all around you, but when driving down a road and witnessing 22-23fps (which makes it's virtually impossible to drive well at speed) it's not impressive, it's actually irritating. The PS4 (and XB1) simply cannot achieve a solid 1080p/30fps with GTA5. Rockstar clearly had to make the game 1080p, otherwise it probably wouldn't have looked a significant amount better than the PS360 version.

It's no surprise to me that the latest generation of consoles can't manage 1080p/60fps in the bigger games, but if they can't run a game at a solid 30fps, then turn down effects; remove details; dial down draw distance; whatever, to maintain a SOLID 30fps. It'll still look better than the previous version and a SOLID 30fps (as exhibited perfectly by Forza Horizon 2) plays well enough.

So, if dipping frame rates bother you, driving anywhere slightly busy on the PS4 version of GTA5 will be an irritating experience.

Apart from that it's typical GTA fare. However, GTA5, to me, feels like the fun and interested stuff in GTA3/4 (you know, the things you could spend time on when not wanting to play the main story) have been stripped out and replaced with nothing. Maybe I've simply had my fill of GTA games (I'm 39 and been playing computer games for 30 years) and the childish repetition has finally smacked me in the face. I don't honestly know.

Whatever the issue, I find the game boring. Same old, same old. Nothing new here. Maybe the online gamers will find more pleasure from it.

As a newcomer, GTA5 is probably an amazing experience. I find it an average timewaster.

I'm a huge huge fan of the GTA series and have grown up with them. Each game has given me many hours of fun in solo campaign mode. GTAV is no exception. However, even though GTAV is a great game that is providing me with lots of fun, i've gotten way more fun from previous GTA titles. GTAV is an undeniably an amazing technical achievement. It is just the map, the story and lack of content that lets it down. My favourite GTA game is GTA San Andreas from 2004. I'm still playing it 11 years on. The map was huge, extremely varied and well made, the story was brilliant fun and the gameplay and game world was brilliant fun. So when i heard GTAV was returning to San Andreas i got super excited. But then after i got my hands on the game and made my way around the map. It just isn't that varied. They say it is bigger than GTA San Andreas and several other game worlds combined. But it doesn't even feel bigger than GTA San Andreas. The original GTA San Andreas map is so so varied it never gets boring, even 11 years on. GTAV's map got boring pretty quickly. The story is real bad and just plain boring. It is knowehere near as deep as previous GTA games. Maybe because in GTAV you have 3characters to play which bounce off each other. So there really isn't much time or room for them to develop. My favourite GTA story was GTAIV and the character Niko Bellic by a long way. That story was amazing. Sadly GTAV is probably the worst story in the series. The missions simply aren't as fun or as varied as previous GTA games either. I found them a boring chore rather than fun. This time the missions involve planning and prepping ready for bigger heists. The planning and prepping is just plain dull and very basic like the story. The story seems far shorter than previous GTA games too. And there isn't as much to do in the gameworld compared to previous games. The graphics are very impressive, the game world is incredible, the sound is good, just a shame about the map, story, lack of content and characters. Expand

While overall a good release of an existing modern classic, it needed more optimisation. The frame drops while driving fast cars in the city are almost constant on the PS4, and since that's one of the main activities in the game more people should really have called them out on it.

Story is realistic and entertaining. And it works well with new multi-character system but too short for me. Shooter mechanics is okay and challenging if you turn off auto aim. (but don't expect RDR or GTA 4 mechanics) Game world is huge. But after 3 hours of gameplay it feels lifeless. Game map has no role on game progression. All parts of map are accessible. Almost all vehicles are presented from beginning of the game. And there is no more "i'll unlock other side of the map" motivation. Last and disappointing part of the game is driving mechanics. I think Rockstar tried to grab NFS and Midnight Club players with new car physics but i am out their scope. This game has too many casual design elements when compared to old GTA games. Non of these elements bothered me except driving. Driving the fastest car of the game nearly feels same as driving the slowest one (steering experience). If you're not obsessed with old game mechanics like I am, i guarantee you'll enjoy with this high quality experience. Expand

I could discuss how this is the first "Grand Theft Auto" game that I played fully, I could talk about how scared I am that people are already going to hound me for giving this anything lower than a 9, but I realized that I don't really need to introduce this too heavily because at this point, "Grand Theft Auto V" has not only been one of the most successful video games of all time, but it's also been one of the most profitable pieces of entertainment (film, TV, gaming, music, etc.) to exist in the world. With 95 million copies shipped (as of May 2018) and over $6 billion in revenue, chances are you've heard a fair deal about this game. It's also one of the most well-reviewed games in the history of this website, and it was the recipient of a heavy amount of awards and praise, with some going as far as to call it one of the greatest games ever. So, it comes with a bit of disappointment that after playing through and beating the main campaign...I think the game is merely "good." Not "excellent," not "all-time great," just "good."
"Grand Theft Auto V" definitely has a lot going for it in regards to its technical achievements. The large open-world of Los Santos is absolutely stunning, and there are so many great, small details throughout Los Santos that make it so fascinating and grand to explore. The game also has a great idea going with its multiple-protagonist style of play, and it also helps that each protagonist is very compelling. The game features some excellent (if very controversial) writing and acting, and the characterization is top-notch. Once again, Michael, Franklin and (especially) Trevor really help bring the game to life. The controls are also strong, free-roaming around Los Santos and engaging in anarchy can be very fun, and the addition of Grand Theft Auto Online helps to make things even more fun.
All of this said, though, I feel like several aspects of the gameplay are what hold me back from really loving the game. I've heard a number of critics talk about how "varied" the missions were in the game, but I just have to wonder if I was playing the same game, because I honestly found the mission structure to be too frustratingly repetitive. And while it is satisfying when you beat all of the missions, and the heists can be pretty enjoyable, it almost feels to me like you're just doing the same things over and over. On top of that, there are just so many minor frustrations with the gameplay that really add up to dampen the experience for me, such as the poor controls of several vehicles, and the fact that the game allows you to skip missions after three fails, thus kind of ruining the essentialness of completing them. If you can purposely fail them to continue on with the game, where's the actual gameplay motivation? Honestly, given all of those frustrations, and with the fact that people were calling this a game that would bridge the seventh generation of gaming into the eighth, I would've been terrified playing this in 2013 and seeing it as a "bridge game," because I certainly wouldn't want to live in a generation of games where you can literally speed through a game by purposely failing at it.
I know, I know, I'm being very critical of the game, and I do enjoy it, honestly. It's a very well-made game, but given that it holds something of a hierarchy in gaming and is frequently classified as one of the all-time greats (and one of the most popular), I'm obviously going into it with my standards set at an extreme high, and it just doesn't quite reach them. Yes, it's certainly an enjoyable game, and I can see the appeal of it, but with the fact that everyone says it's one of the best games ever made, I can name a good chunk of games that I would still say are better than this, a few of which have even been released in the five years since this. That said, though, it's still a solidly enjoyable game, and I did have my share of fun with it, so I would definitely recommend giving it a shot. I just hope you get a little more out of it than I did.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. GTA games seem to get a 90+% review score by default, but what has really changed within the franchise since GTA3 came out on the PS2? The core gameplay (although much more refined in later versions) is very much the same as ever. This is the main problem with GTA these days. Apart from the odd spike (in gameplay) it suffers from being far to familiar in the gameplay department. Drive from dot to dot in order to advance story. Repeat. STORY: Not as good or engaging as the GTA 3 series or GTA 4. The fact you can rotate between three characters is really neat, but depersonalizes the experience and I don't feel as invested in three characters as I felt invested in Tommy, CJ, or Niko. Aside from that, it's what you've come to expect from a GTA game. Drugs, sex, money, violence.

GAMEPLAY: Nothing different here; the same ol' GTA formula, with a plethora of somewhat entertaining minigames. Things are upgraded, a version of the skill system is back in, but not as nitpicky and precise as getting fat with CJ in San Andreas. There's a nice attention to detail with how the world works, and does have a few improvements to the sometimes Stupid AI. The First-Person Mode is a gimmick feature. This isn't a FPS, and it doesn't handle like one.

GRAPHICS: A step up from the last generation, and almost on par with the PC version. The game looks really nice, but there is a noticeable drop in framerates on the console. Why they couldn't make it a 60fps release like many other re-released games (Dark Souls II) is beyond me.

ONLINE: Hit or miss. It was a fun gimmick to try out, but hearing a 13 year old cuss you out after he's mowed you over with his chrome-plated trumpet-blaring bulletproof Urban Assault Vehicle while you're trying to figure out how the hell to get money with a generic 9mm pistol isn't the best experience. Leveling is a grind of fetch quests based on some of the single-player missions and get boring after a while. I would only recommend Heists (the complicated, difficult missions online) with a crew you know; otherwise, you'll be frustrated when some punk screws it up and fails the mission. The load times are awful, and the connection issues are noticeable when you have to wait another minute to get out of your empty Lobby.

I will start with the positives: it is a beautiful game and a techinical master piece in terms of open world game design. The open world is a good size with lots of things to do aswell as an enjoyable story and memorable characters and has many unique features and mechanics that are unseen almost all other games. It is a true open world sand box; you can fly helicopters, compete in triathlons and street races, complete a range of different missions and even play darts and tennis. You will not get bored when exploring the game. The problems i have with the game are simple things; the characters dont feel right; they are a little floaty uncontrollable and unresponsive which makes it difficult online, as do the handling of the guns. When you aim there is a very strong lock on which doesn't feel natural and free aim it is a pain to aim with. Also, the stealth system sucks as much as i like the idea that you become more stealthy the more time you are in stealth mode but it is wasted as the AI always know where you are. The wanted system is a pain too as it is very anoying how cops instantly know your exact location after commiting a crime and escaping is a lot of work. My last complaint is the online focus; while it is good the game is being supported years after release the prices of items are ridiculous making you either grind for hundreds of hours or buy in game currency with real money. There also isn't single player support either which is a waste. Despite the problems i have, It is a game worth playing that the masses will enjoy although i would call 'Watch Dogs' a better game since it has none of the problems listed above. Expand

    This game definitely doesn't deserve a 10.

This is a last-gen port. And sometimes it shows. Sometimes the graphics are great, sometimes it's clear that they could definitely be better, especially the geometry. The game handles much better than previous titles. Voice acting is top notch, some scenes are hilarious. The story is just OK, though. Some missions did feel a bit disjointed.

The game handles much better than previous titles. Voice acting is top notch, some scenes are hilarious. The story is just OK, though. Some missions did feel a bit disjointed. And I didn't really like the characters that much. They're all nuts. I guess Michael is supposed to be the straight(est) man, but even he's a bit much. Characters rant and yell at each other often, it got annoying at times. On the other hand, I loved the story in Chinatown wars. It was hilarious without being nauseatingly psychotic. It was great. I wish a full-fledged console GTA had a story that was in the same style as Chinatown wars.

The biggest problem with the single player is the lack of variety in missions. After San Andreas the series started taking mission types away, which I hated. GTA5 changes things up but the missions still feel a bit underdeveloped. In fact, the entire single player campaign feels kind of underdeveloped. Unique mission types seem a bit too rare and are over with fairly quick. What about buying and selling drugs? I loved that in Chinatown wars. My main complain then is that Rockstar should've brought more elements from previous GTA games and elaborated on them. There're too many standard fare driving missions. Also, money never seemed to be an issue. By the time I got a plane to do money missions it didn't matter, the game was almost over anyways. Add or add more missions in which you use all three characters, fly a jet, jetpack, gathering a posse, buy/sell drugs. And early in the game when money is actually tight. And THEN you work the story in. Story revolves around gameplay, not the other way around!

Of course, their focus now is on multiplayer which is total b.s. I'm not crazy about multiplayer and I sure as hell don't want to play with moronic teenagers. After you pass the game there's little to care about other than multiplayer if you're a teenager. There isn't much hope that GTA or any rockstar game's single player experience will be very evolutionary. It's to be seen if Red Dead Redemption 2's single player will actually be as good or better than the first. Rockstar seems content on being a company that just makes MMO's. But that's where all the kids practically give them a license to print money, so what do we expect?

Well, it is a pretty disappointing game for me. As a single player game fan, I thought GTA V has a weak story and its missions were repetitive and uncreative. After finishing the game, I thought the game empty and didn't have much to do after it. Probably gamers that like multiplayer games will loves its online mode, but the campaign is hugely disappointing for me.

If we are talking about the single player game then, in my eyes, it is a comfortable 10. Enagaging storyline, huge open world, tons of stuff to do both main quests and side quests and just a really cool sandbox to mess around in if you don't want to follow any of the narrative - honestly I was expecting big things and it was better than I expected, a true accomplishment. Enagaging storyline, huge open world, tons of stuff to do both main quests and side quests and just a really cool sandbox to mess around in if you don't want to follow any of the narrative - honestly I was expecting big things and it was better than I expected, a true accomplishment. However, if we talk about GTAV Online then the story changes and not for the best.

GTAV Online has huge potential and, in some of the formats it presents, it succeeds massively. The developers have continued to add thorough, new content as and when available and, for a long time, kept it fresh. There are multiple problems though and these shall be listed below:

    - Sharkcards. These are at the heart of the big issues online. It is very difficult to make money due to the low financial gains you make in the various modes (seriously even cocaine dealing is programmed to make only marginal profits). This incentivizes players to do one of two things: 1) buy a sharkcard; 2) stop playing. That leads to empty servers, a lack of atmosphere and the death of online. It also leads to the hackers (level 8000 people this is you) though certainly not the only reason. I cannot make peace with what is a blatant attempt by Rockstar to rake in even more money through these microtransactions - if the financial rewards were even close to realistic for completing missions then it would be palatable - that they so obviously skew the game to try and maximize profit grates on me enormously.

I cannot score the game a 10 when developers do what they have done to the Online mode - it is unforgivable and a common trend in the gaming world to try and milk every last drop of money from the players - it ain't on in my opinion. I'd give single player a 10 - Online a 5, total 7.5 downgraded to a 7 for lascivious business practice.

I think that the graphics in this game are inferior from those of Infamous Second Sond, and Second Son came a year earlier. I also believe that the gamplay is not that intiutitve and everything feels too arrhythmic. I think that the story is just generic, but in it's deffense the script is very good and funny.

My only hope is for them to make Red dead 2 as good as this . With that said , let’s get to the bad part . Ahem “ gta online “. Oh my f*ck*ng god , this is utter garbage . Well , it can be fun at times but it’s ruined because of connectivity issues and lengthy loading screens to this day . And even if you don’t encounter any of those issues , you are still f*cked because every single person on your server either tries to kill you or troll you in some manner. It just doesn’t fu*king work because of these issues . If you have a mediocre internet connection, you cannot play “gta online “ , oh wait , you can after an eternity of loading screens and lag . It’s best sticking with your friends while playing this because it’s a lot more fun . And of course , micro transactions . I’m not gonna b*tch about this in here because it has become “normal” these days. But man is Rockstar greedy . I thought that online would make the score go higher but nah. I initially thought of giving it a 9 just for the single player story and then a 10 including the online part . But , now it’s more like a 7 or 8. Expand

    Online:
i would rate the online mode very highly, if it weren't for a few major things. Rockstar seems to want to throw all the DLC's and expansion packs at you as possible, like shark cards and flying cars. But although it's bad that they want you to pay for all the cool interesting pats of online, it also leads to a very toxic player base. You see when you first enter online you'll see dozens of flying cars and tanks and players who hack just waiting to prey on you and completely obliterate you're player. Now you might think that this only happens to noobs but even with me being a level 68 almost gta veteran it still happens.
And this leads to what could be and amazing online mode almost being completely ruined.

Yet I frequently go back to the last gen PS3 version of the game just enjoy how good it was back then. Now, GTA seems way too extra and deranged to enjoy it like I use to. GTA V is packed with tryhards and pay-to-win people that you can't really be safe from Oppressor MK2's and Hydras and pretty much anything that has a gun or missile launcher on it. Although the game is great for open world gameplay, the realism is long gone, and not many people drive a normal car anymore. GTA V Online is like an apocalypse. The GTA V Story on the other hand is like a god created it. It still has the GTA feel but with a whole new experience and characters to explore. GTA V has so many good and bad things about it that it makes it hard to explain, but i can try.

GTA V is probably on of the best games out their because of it's universal gameplay. What I mean by this is this game appeals to a lot of genres of games, which is great for more people to buy the game, even if they don't like a certain feature of the game. The RAGE engine it ran on made even the last gen version of GTA V look amazing, but the re-release version is perfect. The car and gun selection is a whole new level of crazy, with the Atomizer and the Insurgent to the Pistol and the Karin Intruder, the choices are endless. GTA V has two parts; GTA V Story and GTA V Online. GTA V Story has a whole new take on how a campaign should work. The game has an 80's retro feel while still keeping the current time period relevant. A lot of the DLC cars and story missions are taken as a reference to movies, like for example, the Ruiner 2000 is a reference to Knight Rider's KITT. The story has a character switch system where you can switch between three different characters (Franklin Clinton, Treavor Phillips, and Micheal De Santa), at anytime, even in missions. The story is pretty great, but to avoid spoilers, I won't say anything, especially since a lot of people already know how it goes. GTA V Online however, is a whole different story, literally. GTAVO has a cool take on how you customize your experience in the game. You can take a lot of different routes on how you want to make money, each taking you through the steps so you're not confused. The game makes your character feel important by including a "side-story" that brings a little flair to GTAVO. The PS3 and XB360 version of the game is littered with modders and tryhards left and right, and while modders are not even possible in the re-release, there are still tryhards. Back then, the only thing annoying about Online was the Karuma, Savage, Lazer, and Insurgent, Now there are cazy flying bikes and a railgun tank (and a lot more). It seems that if you want to avoid being killed, you might as well chill in Sandy Shores or Paleto Bay, and even then you're not guaranteed safety. I much as a want to praise Rockstar for releasing free updates for 5 years, these vehicles and guns ruin the calmness and realism that it once had. All and all, GTA V is a great game with a little bit of flaws, but it revolutionized the gaming market again for the 3rd time. GTA V is a solid 7 in my book.

The gameplay isn't that good, except the driving, and while there are a lot of side quests, the map doesn't have too much exploring, because it encourages driving from location to location mostly. Nonetheless, it's good.

Have you ever had the feeling when you're watching Hollywood movie which had very expensive production but yet you don't enjoy it for some reason? Yes, the movie has these cool special effects, maybe some popular actors but it just doesn't click with you. I tell such movies and games plastic. I saw a review recently which greatly describes this phenomena: "more action, less immersion".

    Plot
GTA SA and GTA IV had great plots and I was really interested in the stories. In GTA 5 I almost always had the felling the I don't care about the characters and their problems. Not to mention dialogues which sometimes looked like movie scenes with bad acting. Among all characters only Franklin is interesting while Michael being professional criminal yet can't handle his own family and Trevor is being very annoying and irrationally aggressive. Bank robbing is fun I'd say, but the game has very little of it. I've dropped the game on 50% and I would say that I didn't enjoy 70% of the missions. Sometimes you just don't understand why you're doing this and thinking that there isn't any sense in doing it.

    Character switching
I hate the mandatory character switching. I often caught myself thinking that I want to play another character right now but no, the game forces me to fly planes and helicopters which personally I don't find fun or interesting at all. I mean, seriously, while the other character is participating in intense shootout or supposed to do something interesting I'm forced to play as a sniper or fly a helicopter. Why don't you provide the freedom to play whoever I like? For me it seems like blatant mission scripting.

    Game mechanics and misc
    * From the start I didn't enjoy riding cars. You don't have any drifting capabilities just slides.
    * All the time I struggled with game being to dark at night. I was changing game settings, display settings but all of this didn't work. The game is really dark at night, especially when you play sniper missions.
    * You can't see optional mission objectives during the mission. The game says you've failed to do everything 100% but you just don't know what the game wants from you. This is really annoying and is taking from you the the feeling of achievement when you finishes a mission. I understand that this was an attempt to make the main story re-playable but in fact in forces you to replay 80% of the missions even if you don't like them just to get 100% stats.
    * If you're using controller then riding a car and shooting at the same time will be inconvenient.

Just to sum up, I have mixed feelings about this one. I can't say that this a bad game, no. The world is big and beautiful, shootouts and police chases are fun but apart from this the game didn't impress me. I've played ~30 hours and went to enjoy other games.

GTA V's main attractions, for me, were, roaming around the vast open world and exploring everything it had to offer. The shooting mechanics are repetitive and the controls are considerably bad. I would recommend the online, only to those who have friends to play it with. Otherwise, playing it alone feels like a constant grind to gain more money, which doesn't bring you much satisfaction.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7.5/10 Before you try to find my address in an attempt to kill me, I just have to say that I will have free tacos waiting for you outside. I respect how this game has had such a ‘profound impact’ on the video game industry, it is the best selling piece of entertainment! The Good: The graphics for the weapons, cutscenes and oceans are absolutely incredible and breathtaking.
Trevor is an all-around flawless character, he was written perfectly with the exact type of dark humour that I love.
Lamar Davis is a great side character, we all know his hilarious “yee yee ass haircut” scene, but he is also easily more likeable than the other two main protaganists (excluding Trevor).
Trevor’s rampage missions are hilariously fun and there should have been more in my opinion.
The torture scene in GTA V is the only part in the game where it gives you freedom to torture this man in any way you want, it may be disturbing, but it is ‘TREEeVVOOORR’ fun.

The Bad: How the game absolutely limits your creativity and treats you like a goddamn five year old, the previous Grand Theft Auto entries allowed you to be as creative as you wanted to be with the missions, this game insults its’ players intelligence and makes most of our decisions for us.
Michael De Santa (Townley) is a typical American dad (asides from the bank heists and murder) and his character failed to interest me at any time. The game makes us try to like him, but how mean and downright horrible he is to Trevor just makes my dislike for him grow even more. (Not insulting Ned Luke’s great performance.)
Franklin is portrayed as your typical African/American guy, once again failing to interest me as the player, considering that he is the ‘main protaganist’ you could see how this pisses me off.
The ‘open world’ doesn’t feel ‘open’, it feels empty, the stranger missions are great, but they are way too easy and end way too quickly, some of them feel forced in, just to make you (the player) want to needlessly play the game constantly. The collectibles are spread EVERYWHERE across the map, they are so far away from each other and it just feels superfluous and have no real purpose to be inside the game, besides for 100% completion and ‘achievements’.
Worst of all, the story is just plain uninteresting, it’s heist after heist after heist, giving you no real reason to stay engaged with the game. - Also, online is hella ga…

This one doubles down on boring crap you need to do and lots of time travelling to different missions with probably the lamest radio yet. There is cool stuff but just too much filler. Car physics is weak. Boat physics is meh. Aircraft and heli physics are annoying at best (both cars and aircrafts magically rubberband back to the dirrection opposing to the button you were pressing being the most annoying but it's a tip of an iceberg). Sailboats are pointless and don't sail. Metro is barely usable. Clothing selection is ok, but i expected more. Hairstyles are few and similar looking.

Modding weapons is minimalistic, weapon selection is okay. Modding cars is weak and pointless because most missions don't pay anything and modding costs and you're going to drive the car to a mission just to end the mission and have your car disappear (then you have to drive a long way to the one vechicle impound on the entire map and buy the car back, even if you want to waste money it gets old after a second time).

Story is amazing, for the first 2-3 hours, then quickly becomes meh and lacks direction and any real incentive to go forward. Most side missions are repetitive, boring and often lack any real reward (slowly towing broken cars to police parking lot with the almost same plot everytime is mind boggling, why did they even bother putting that in). First you are told that completing side missions will help you get more people for your heists then heists don't really matter and most side missions lines (i'm 70% in to the story line being a completionist) don't give you any reward for heists. Heists are unrewarding anyway, their storyline is ok but you hardly get any money and most of the time the gameplay aspect of any mission sucks so just enjoy the story and don't try to max it, in fact failing on purpose may be more rewarding just for the dialogue). 90% of the time you will be looking at the GPS driving from point to point anyway, which - surprisingly - isn't that boring considering the nicely built map. In fact doing side missions instead of rushing the storyline will make it harder to max out the completion, it's not a big spoiler but i won't go into that as i don't want put any spoilers here. Doing it other way around will help you enjoy all the game has to offer easier once you finish the game ... except what's the point of that?

Graphics are meh. My first impression, considering I've played it years after release yet it was one of the games I've played after getting a better gfx that can even handle dx12, was how bad the graphics looks. It's bad compared to most games of that time. Scenery is bad compared to Skyrim which had weak graphics (technically) but masterfully composed the scenery to make something beautiful. But considering the work put into the map there are many places where artistic design shines and provides views that probably won't age much with time.

World map, overall, is beautifully mastercrafted with every part of it being handcrafted. No repeating places, no repeating buildings, tons of subtle and less subtle details. Pity the world building is nonexistent and it's very hard, to appreciate. Random encounters are sometimes better than entire side missions. Unfortunately, there are very, very few interiors. A few similarly looking shops and that's mostly it. Side activities are plentiful, time consuming, and often boring (playing tennis could be a separate game, that is if you like realistic fishing simulators... ) TV, ingame pseudo-internet and cinemas are on the other hand surprisingly entertaining once you're fed up with boring missions.

Overall the biggest issue is the gameplay - game is built with good cinematic experience in mind and gameplay - is there - it's just bad and often shoehorned realism kills it. The idea of adding more realism is good it's just the execution that's really bad.

Sadly though, the one-two punch of boring-as-f*ck and touchy missions and a lack of anything to do other than those boring missions (unless you want to play a sh*tty tennis game or something) eventually brought my time with it to an end. Good - Not very much, but the 3 characters are well designed and the map itself is adequate in size. The overall gameplay is solid and there is definitely some fun to be had with some of the set piece missions standing out in particular.

Bad - Where to start? No ambient hiests, severe, almost criminal lack of interiors, no character progression, development or empire building of any kind, unable to buy houses, unable to enter owned businesses (lack of interiors!), awful, awful story, only around 30% of the map is actually used for anything useful, the frined 'like' % has been ditched so doing any activity with any other character is pointless, the girlfriend system is awful, unfinished concepts (Trevors meth business) and in general just terrible design decisions everywhere. There is a total lack of anything meanignful to do in this game; I mean ist all well and good being able to play golf but where are things like dealing etc that can be used to run a criminal empire?

Verdict - The most overrated, overhyped game ever made which is a shame because it could, and should have been great. If you like driving around aimlessly with the option to play a pointless minigame this could be the game for you. If you have a brain though, you will be left bitterly disappointed by an average game thats a 6/10 (generous) and one of the worst games in the GTa series, FACT.

I finally played this so called masterpiece, metacritic must play 6 years after release of it on PS4 and I gotta say it's mediocre.

The whole game is trying to be a comedy or rather a parody on the US lifestyle but I laughed maybe once or twice in all +-109 missions of it. Characters are annoying, Trevor is one disgusting piece of **** you want to cut his head off since your first introduction to him. He isn't funny by any means, he's annoying in every way and disgusting like a cherry a top. Many other side characters are very annoying and act like immature childs with lots of money, again not funny in any way, you get to play missions with 43-48 year old businessmen who are dancing around you and talking some utter bull**** which means nothing and just trying to make a fool of the player himself.

That's another issue I had with the game, every dialogue, every scene seemed like Rockstar was trying to force you to laugh by characters who were acting like kids dancing, singing, 3/4 of the time you watch scenes or listen to dudes speaking on missions it's some bull**** nonsense that adds no sense to the missions, or story or anyting. It's characters like Lamar Davis, Trevor and his friends, Devin Weston, Martin Madrazzo, sometimes even Steve Haines talked bull**** that made no sense and was there only so they talked and wasted your time adding nothing to your gameplay.

I mean most of the characters I mentioned should be good because they fit in the city and the game but I got a headache everytime any of mentioned spoke, who the fck wrote that **** who made that script. Jesus that was pain to watch and play at certain missions when these spoke most of the time.

Story missions was nothing special, it was cool when the game started except the prologue mission which was more like shoot everything and blow everything up like in Call of Duty and again made no sense to you until like playing 3/4 of game. I was hoping they would show some gang wars playing as Franklin, some murders, some real American issues with black ghettos in Los Angeles but there were like 4-6 missions with gangs and most of them requiring you only to deliver stuff only to be able to again shoot your way out of mission area like Rambo.

I'm not satisfied and not entirely dissappointed with the game, I'm in between but it definitely wasn't what I expected and hoped for.

I played Red Dead Redemption 2 and that's a story from Rockstar I value, serious characters with serious personalities and serious past. In GTA V, it's circuss, almost everyone acts like a complete jerk, idiot, child, jumping around, talking **** dancing around you while speaking with you and singing while talking with you. I only hope they make serious campaign in GTA VI similiar to Redemption 2 with great characters and not this circuss mess. I'd like to see more about gangs and how they work in US in future game. Only character in GTA V I can compliment is Dave Norton, he was typical bastard but in a good way and healthy way for the game because he talked sense what can't be said about any other character in game who are just trying to force you laugh with dumb stuff that isn't even funny.

It's rare to see a game with production values like this. V has a city unlike another game, cutscenes and a love of cinema that influences it, and more hidden details than you can count.
Yet, with a story that lacks purpose, structure and momentum, gameplay missions that are overly restrictive, and lazy attempts masquerading as satire, V feels like a walking contradiction.

It sold over 120 million copies around the globe and was one of the most anticipated games of all time. I can't deny the big audience it has attracted and the pop culture effect it has had. Although it has had a huge impact on everyone's lives, in my personal opinion this game has flaws that stand out compared to the other Grand Theft Auto installments.

First I will start off with the single-player, no spoilers included. I have to admit, in my opinion, Grand Theft Auto V's story is the worst compared to San Andreas, Vice City, GTA III, and GTA IV. That doesn't mean it's a bad story, it's rockstar we're talking about again. I have to say when they said they were gonna have three main characters I was kinda shocked back in 2012 hearing about it but I have to say I think it paid off. All the characters have their own personality and something that makes them unique in the world of San Andreas. The story seems super bland on paper, but it's rockstar we're talking about again. They can make a bland story into one of the best works of art. The story, in my opinion, stands up and is a pretty good arch that occurs between each one of them. along with great side characters. All in all, the story is a 9.2/10 for me. Then comes the open world, I have to admit the world looks beautiful and amazing. I almost remember every street from the number of times I've played the game! The real problem with this world is it's super bland compared to the other Grand Theft Auto's. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me here but I fully believe this. In Grand Theft Auto IV there were a lot of hidden things in that world that you can explore and interact with. There were more buildings that were accessible in that game which I wished Grand Theft Auto V had inside the game. The same thing can be said about the Original San Andreas and even Vice City. Another thing I wasn't a fan of was the amount of physics from Grand Theft Auto IV that was removed in making this game. The best video example I have for this is "GTA IV is better than GTA V" on YouTube. Great Video! Graphics and music are fantastic in the game and stand out. So, all in all, I would give the single-player a 8/10, for the lack of innovation that and things removed from the last predecessor that was kind of disappointing to me in my opinion. Like I said other people can have a totally different opinion than me.

Now onto the Online mode, back when this was released in 2013 I was super excited playing it and experiencing it with an excited community that was more of a mature audience. Then as they added more and more content, I had a lot more fun. I had met a lot of people from the online portion of GTA V and changed my life meeting these people. Then the downfall happened, microtransactions were in the game back in 2014 but it wasn't as bad because you can grind easy and get what you want. But as they added more and more expensive content it started to become a problem for casual players like me to earn those objects that are in the game. Then all of a sudden they drop a bomb releasing all these futuristic things in the game. First of all, the Grand Theft Auto was one of the most realistic games and when you add futuristic things in the game it doesn't sit right unless you're a 9-year-old. As the game added these things, it was harder to earn money to earn these things, it was hard to survive lobbies, made the game boring, depended too much on microtransactions, and eventually pushed away from the audience of diehard Rockstar fans and older audiences who noticed it became every 6 years old's dream game. Now the audience is kids who might actually be younger than when the game came out! It sounds crazy to thinks about. So all in all, I believe the beginning phase of online would be 8.5/10 format he amount of fun I had but over time they killed it so I have to give a 3/10 to the current state it's in.

GTA V has had a huge impact in my life and I'm so happy it exists. It's a great game for it's single-player but I believe the online mod has fallen into a state that it makes hardcore Rockstar fans hate. So my final score is 6/10. I feel like Rockstar Games should stop milking this game and move onto newer projects. I understand this game makes them a lot of money but with their talent, they should be fresh and improve. I understand Red Dead Redemption 2 came out 2 years ago but look how Rockstar treated that game, disrespect. it's time the gamers move onto something else.

The single player story is really well written and very enjoyable to play although i think it was quite short still fun. The online portion of the game can be fun at times until met with multiple hackers making it unplayable.

Gta 5 is a good game but it is extremely overrated. The fact this game is getting perfect scores is ridiculous. The story and characters are great but the gameplay is clunky and FILLED with glitches that never get patched. The graphics are okay but nothing special. The 3rd person shooting is mediocre at best and playing online is just filled with hackers.

This game is by far the most overrated game of all time in terms of its story. In stark contrast to GTA IV, the story focuses on overly satirical (satire, in this case, that lacks humour to a great extend) jokes and the complete exaggeration of their characters. In stark contrast to GTA IV, the story focuses on overly satirical (satire, in this case, that lacks humour to a great extend) jokes and the complete exaggeration of their characters. Take, for example, Trevor Phillips. Trevor's violent behaviour and sociopathy is exaggerated to the extend where it feels forced. Niko Bellic, GTA IV's protagonist, has an actually interesting story behind him: a soldier with all of his friends killed in an explosion, a backstory which is actually integrated into the gameplay of GTA IV. In GTA V, Trevor is just a man-child who was rejected from flight school or the military or whatever, and turned to a life of crime. There is no actual reason revealed for his 'mental instability' and it makes his character feel incredibly dry. Additionally, during the playable part of the story, nothing tragic actually happens, the only hint of it is when Trevor's friends die in the first mission, one of which turns out to be dead, and when it is revealed that the other is buried in his fake grave (which, realistically, would never happen, it only serves as an illogical plot point in-game), the acting is so unbelievably dry that there is no actual sense of tragedy or emotion. In GTA IV, through the use of actually good actors and a good story, this isn't a problem. Plus, the characters are so dry that by the end of GTA V's story, choosing and ending doesn't even feel like an emotional choice, and I don't feel the attachment to the characters that rockstar so clearly intended to put in place by the end of the story.

While the game's story is terrible, it is made up for by gameplay. Even if a tad easy, the gun mechanics are seamless and there is no RNG involved in the completion aspects of the game, when compared to the brutally luck-based hunting mechanics of RDR2, almost a polar opposite in gameplay quality and story quality (if I phrased that badly, I'm trying to say that the story of rdr2 is great but the gameplay is not). The special abilities of each character makes the gameplay more fun and is a good feature. The heists, and the options for each of them, are very fun, and show the extent to which rockstar programmed the gameplay.

In conclusion, and looking into the future, I think that GTA V is overall a 6/10. It has an abomination of a story, with no emotion attached whatsoever, but very good gameplay, a 10/10 in my opinion. With gameplay being more important than story, I think a 6/10 would be justified. The future release of GTA VI, when looking at the current decline in story but the increase in gameplay of the GTA franchise, will probably result in a story that is a completely effortless and terrible, but some amazing gameplay and unique mechanics.

Overrated as hell, but still pretty fun.

An excellent remake of an outstanding game that doesn't merely come with cosmetic improvements. What does it mean? You certainly need to have this piece at home, even if you have the original version. [Issue#248]
