    This game is trash it has loads of bugs it’s mobile port and they don’t make a console and pc version of it like really rockstar you have loads of money and you make the game look better like seriously you just made grovestreet to remaster that buggy game like it’s only 30 fps when it will be 60? There is nothing positive I can say, they weren't able to remaster three old games to work smoothly on modern hardware, all three of them lag on playstation 4 pro. There are countless of bugs, character models look awful, they removed a bunch of radio tracks because they didn't want to pay the licenses. Asked for a refund fromI'm so disappointed with these games, worst experience ever.     I really had to make an account for this review. The game is honestly disappointing and thats somehow worse than if it was just bad. You can tell that some things just aren't right, whether it be the character models (we've all seen the screenshots ranging from Vice City to San Andreas) to the background gags. The latter of the two has been explained by them using an AI to upscale and thenI really had to make an account for this review. You can tell that some things just aren't right, whether it be the character models (we've all seen the screenshots ranging from Vice City to San Andreas) to the background gags. The latter of the two has been explained by them using an AI to upscale and then simply messing up along the way and thats how we get AR GUITARS instead of AIR GUITARS which kind of ruins the intended joke. For everything they do bad, one thing that was good they added were checkpoints. With how finicky the gameplay can be and the slightest bump can cause you to have to restart a mission, Im glad I dont have to drive all the way back. Theres nothing once the mission starts so nothing really spectacular, it just saves you a few minutes total if youre having a hard time on a mission. The stuff that feels like it was overlooked and left as was gun gameplay as well as car handling and gameplay. It was said to have redefined gun mechanics but the most in vice city is that it may lock on better but it still feels the same, just with a nice upgrade to the graphics. I was also hoping to maybe have some mechanics that have been around since the mid 2010s with GTA IV and V like being able to crouch and move in Vice City. If youre not going to give us better gameplay with guns, can you atleast let me crouch along a wall while also moving? The car gameplay aspect is really the same for better or worse, so ya know, do with that as you will. $60 feels like a blatant rip off and I can't refund this game because the nice 2 hour mark that Sony gives. The bugs dont really start showing until later in the game so youre past the point of return. One thing that is kind of funny is seeing the reactions for the rain, its not awful in Vice City and SA but 3 was hard at times to see literally anything while driving. I havent checked but Ive heard the original trilogy was delisted, and I hope thats wrong because Id hate for them to be taken away and replaced by a team who seemingly ran this series through a washer, ruined jokes by using an AI instead of a person, bettered the quality aside from a bump to the graphics (while sacrificing some character models) and the checkpoint for the start of the mission. This project had no ambition and feels like it was something to pump out by 2021 holidays without genuinely wanting it to be different. Ive heard it be described as "being as you remembered it as a kid" which is accurate. Nothing at the core is changed except youre being charged a AAA game price for a graphic upgrade, and it really isnt even that much of an overhaul. We're not talking about GTA 5 crisp or even GTA IV foot in the doors from SA to 5, it feels like a mobile game at times, those Mafia City type games and its actually really funny when you look at those games and a screen shot of VC. Ive also read that the gym aspect in SA is from the previous mobile version which is just embarrassing. After years of recycling GTA 5 and Online, I was genuinely hoping for just better quality control. Again, Id ideally just not buy it until its on sale for maybe $20ish, and maybe not even then if you were fortunate enough to buy the original trilogy. For a fun ending, Ill talk about a boat checkpoint race that was the deciding factor in this review: The first time my boat landed on another boat and got stuck. I think "Okay, thats not the craziest thing to happen" and quickly move that boat out from under my speedboat. After I do, my boat is stuck in the air and I have to wait until the mission times out. The retry was actually worse because my boat hit a dock 20 seconds in, flew in the air, and got stuck on the post. The really cool thing about VC is that water kills you because youre a grown man who can't swim. So Im stuck inside the boat until the game decides to move me onto the dock, but the kicker is that its not connected to anything so Im stuck. I have to kill myself anyways and lose my items because the game doesnt have the foresight, especially being without the bug, thats almost impossible to do.… Expand

    the game is just beautiful with some bugs that are funny and make you smile, but on ps4 slim and base it has annoying stutters, I would really appreciate it if you could optimize it better on this platform

Take a look at the past, gta 3,vice city, san andreas when the game was first released, that's what drew players to this game, and to celebrate these three games they released a terrible remake , ugly, plasticized. Too lazy to let the AI update the graphics on its own, the old Rockstar is already dead. Now only care about money and money and I promise to use the gta 6 crack game.     I cannot believe we got such a downgrade from the original versions. I would be fine if they just release this and had left alone the older versions, but no.     The weirdest thing is the draw distance.
    It has completely ruined San Andreas... the map looks tiny, like some kind of condensed Fortnight map.
    It's particularly abhorrent when you can see Las Venturas from Los Santos or Mount Chilliad from Santa Maria beach.
    The limited draw distance worked to the games benefit... it made the map seem huge. Now that sense of scale and wonder have been completely ruined. Not even a slight haze like in real life... :(
    It's just window dressing, virtually the same game with a filter on and new controls. Rockstar a piece of **** company at this stage.

Granted it looks better than it did 20 yrs ago but it’s still miles off the pace of modern games. The characters still move like they did in the ps2 era. Only reason i’d play this is for nostalgia.    It’s not the game people want. Fans want GTA 6 and for R* to stop milking past games.

Everyone else looks like a block of wood or a potato. Glitches everywhere. There are so many typos in the game. Words, signs and businesses have misspelling's.

    Thank you for this piece of cra#p, why you do that with classic game? I want my money back, it's not worth any $. Sad that Rockstar Games go to the same way us Ubisoft and EA. Absolutely not playable, ugly game. We lost tons of music and charm of this beautiful game.

    The performance of this game on PS5 is terrible. It gives you two options, Fidelity mode or performance mode. Both are terrible and both have constant frame drops. The game also crashes way more than it should

    The fact that they removed all mods and the actual originals of the games from their stores is as SCUMMY and SHADY as a company can get. Their poor excuse of “keeping the feeling of the originals” is a laughably bad one as it just makes their poor effort into this project look a bit less awful. Do. Not. Support. This. Mess.

    Mafia, an older game, that was remastered for PS4 looks sooo much better with a graphics update that holds its own with newly released games. Same goes for resident evil 2...     There are bugged textures left and right. There is a night and day difference in the detail in the face of the protagonists compared to any other character, and it feels incredibly out of place. There are mission bugs, particularly in VC’s Gun Runner. The frame rate is inconsistent at best, dropping the most drastically when it begins to rain. The rain is also unbearable. You could go through the r/GTA or r/GTATrilogy for 5 minutes and spot 30 bugs players have found, which vary from immersion breaking to game breaking. There are removed songs and animations in each game, the most egregious of the animations being everything muscular CJ does now. And as far as missing songs goes, the company that made this game has amassed an unbelievable amount of wealth, and it’s nothing but laziness and greediness to not work out licensing for the ACTUAL DEFINITIVE SOUNDTRACK. The games’ audio received almost no polish. It seems the only thing actually done to change these games from what they were before is the graphical appearance. When these games were current, they were the best looking PS2 era games around. With the “Definitive” editions just released, they are still nothing more than the best looking PS2 era games. The only changes to make gameplay any smoother are the free camera, and free camera drive by controls. By today’s standards, GTA 3 is next to unplayable. Nothing about it feels good. It was a chore to complete, and it’s a game from my childhood that I have incredibly fond memories of. I even go back and play the original version once every 2 or 3 years, along with VC and SA. These games deserved improvements to make them appeal to the generation that didn’t get the chance to play them when all the hype surrounded them. Instead, we’ve gotten 3 bug ridden messes from a studio that already ruined the 10 year anniversary edition of, arguably, everybody’s favorite game, San Andreas (I prefer VC for the story, and SA for gameplay). If changes aren’t made VERY soon to fix performance issues, and eliminate the dozens of bugs players are coming across, I think the legacy of these games will be tarnished, and the reputation of all companies involved will be questioned of laziness and greed. tl;dr: It’s a rushed mess. It is incredibly apparent they needed at least another 2 months to have the games properly built. And now, instead, we’re going to have to wait and hope that they add patches that we should’ve never had to wait for in the first place.… Expand

    Personally so far I havent encountered any bugs and at least it's something to play until rockstars next release but I can see why many including me are disappointed. The price tag set on this game is way too high and graphics arent even that good.

I know Rockstar didn't personally work on this remaster, but they had to have overseen and/or greenlit the project for final release, so they're just as complacent in this as Grove Street Games.… Expand

These games are plagued with bugs, glitches and crashes that render these games virtually unplayable and extremely frustrating. So far after about 8 hours (give or take) of gameplay I have encountered numerous crashes, ugly lazy ground textures that levitate way above where they should be, numerous spots where you can just walk/fall outside the map, ugly inconsistent/tearing textures, and so on. The rain is without argument worse than the 2001 original in GTA 3 and looks ugly and simply tiled. During chase missions your target will glitch outside the map and spawn across the map forcing you to fail the mission. Cars will randomly, and very often, immediately explode upon catching on fire, causing you to fail missions/die much more frequently than the original game. I had originally started the game with the goal of achieving 100% completion, but upon returning to Portland from Staunton the entire El Burro payphone mission line had reset itself after completing it. The new aim assist is broken and will only aim at the closest target, even if the closest target is completely behind you. This may be a minor complaint but the San Andreas menu sounds are a HUGE issue for me, especially when GTA 3 and vice city HAD their own menu sounds. I am at a loss for words with how disappointed I am with this release and STRONGLY urge those who have not purchased it yet to stay as far away from it as they possibly can, and any poor soul who has already bought it to request a refund. It is abundantly clear that this remaster was done by a completely inexperienced team and was rushed as fast as possible for sale. There is no excuse for this with the game being EIGHTY CANADIAN DOLLARS, PLUS TAX.… Expand

Bugs all over the place, horrible characters, removed coop on San Andreas, removed missions on Vice City, unrealistic draw distance, bugs on missions and that is just the beginning. This remaster is awful, and Rockstar should be embaressed to launch such a bad version of this games that change the industry.

    We finally got something from Rockstar Games other than GTA V & GTA Online #NoMoreGTAV #NoMoreGTAOnline.

    It absolutely worth a try, but it doesn’t worth 60$. To be honest, they had to work more on it, they had to add more features, they had to change the gameplay. But overall, it’s good and worth a try.

    For Rockstar Games is the publisher, this remaster is an absolute catastrophe. I am absolutely disappointed and would not recommend it at the moment. It is almost unplayable on the Playstation 4 because the framerate keeps dropping. Very very sad, Rockstar & Groove Street Games.

    I am happy with this remaster and think the way it has be done is fantastic with keeping the original feel. But yesterday i did run into bugs where halfway thru characters just freezed will try mission again 2day and hopfully this aint problem going forward

    While it has its rough edges, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is a worthwhile remaster of three classic titles. Its visual overhaul prevents these games from feeling overly dated, and the quality-of-life improvements modernize the experience in a way that meets today’s standards. Sure, its new art style and character models won’t mesh well with everyone, but it may grow on gamers as time goes by. And sure, while these aren’t the “definitive” editions we expected, this is an admirable attempt to introduce three groundbreaking games to a new generation, and I’m glad it exists.
