Unlike many people reviewing here I did buy this game for multiplayer. I've bought on developer promise to get a great online racer. It's a failure unlike any other.

It does not have enough content to be good single player game and does not even come close to handling multiplayer as it should be. With only pro i can think of being amount of players (also known as "rammers" "carmageddoners" "letmepushyouintothatchickanesoyoucangetpenalty" etc.) Keep away. There are so many good racing games that wasting money and time on this is like self inflicted wound. Considering amount of time PD needs to make this games it's pretty obvious they watch adult movies for 7 hours a day and use remaining part to do "whatever" in a game.
Additional thing is adding "Real Driving Simulator" to title - this is plain joke.
Cars drive like boxes on wheels - forget about enjoyable driving model from PC2 or realistic from AC or ACC - this is full blown arcade that tries to simulate simulation but fails miserably.
Force feedback is bad, delayed and muted (RS300 GT)
You cannot calibrate wheel or pedals (anyone with brake mod is sc-wed),
    You cannot set fov,
You cannot set position inside cockpit. Some cars don't even have this view.
Those are basic of basics in simulators or simcades. Yet this game fails and still dares to call itself "Real simulator" and put it on cover.
If graphics could make a good game it would be 10/10, but in racing game there are many things more important than graphics and they are all really bad here.

Get PC2 (it's not perfect but compared to this it is masterpiece), get Assetto Corsa or wait for AC: Competizione that is about to release in June 2020 and enjoy your racing experience.

A good racing simulator and nothing beyond that. It looks good. I tried to race with my friends, but then i saw how much it can be boring. I know it is a simulator but this game is ONLY for simulation lovers. Do not buy this game if you like arcade racing games, because you will get bored very fast.

Really this is 5/10 game; screw singleplayer, multiplayer is where it's at! But with all the 10/10 reviews from clueless duds I have to do a 0 in protest. If they had pedal calibration this would be a fun sim-arcade.

I've finally gotten around to playing what is one of only two simulation racing franchises on the PS4. And it's not bad.

I'm not big into racing games, preferring to race my own C6 Corvette in real life (rarely). Also, I'm not much into multiplayer, so only played the single player portions of this game.

My overall score basically comes down to having no games to compare this to, having not played a racing game since the 90's. In the game's current updated state, I found it to be slightly above average for what I was expecting, hence the "6".

The game is set up like a mobile game, where you can spend real money to more quickly unlock the cars and upgrades you want. After playing the game a good 80 hours, I found no need to spend money and it didn't distract much from the experience, so I was pleased.

The car selection is a little disappointing. It's heavily Japanese-based, which makes sense given it's a Japanese game. But I was a little surprised at the lack of famous classic European and American cars. My own C6 isn't there along with the C5, which were unstoppable monsters during their periods in racing. There's also an obvious lack of Porsche and Ferrari models. Though this isn't a huge deal since the cars all felt very similar. It basically came down to: the newer the car, the better it handled (primarily traction). For the most part, the older cars just seemed like they were on junk tires with junk suspensions.

Car upgrades are passable, but a bit disappointing. You spend "mileage points" to unlock several levels of power or weight upgrades. Mileage points are gained pretty easily just by racing in the game. You can then dial the power or weight up or down within the range that you unlocked. So no "real" power train upgrades, such as buying actual parts for your engine. There's no real tire upgrades. You just have a list to choose from that are available for each race. Suspension upgrades don't exist, but like your tires, you can modify suspension/ride height settings at any time before a race. So it isn't bad, but is aimed at folks who just want to race with an even playing field rather than those who want to experiment with various parts.

As for content, there's a bunch. Pages and pages of racing leagues where you can just jump in to races with set restrictions A driving school, where there's another huge page of "missions" to complete that are meant to improve your driving skills. Then there's the large number of mission challenges where you're asked to do a large variety of tasks, such as complete sections of tracks within set time frames, pass a certain number of cars without hitting him, and hitting top speeds within certain limits. And then there's the circuit experience, where it gives you turn-by-turn experience in the game's large number of tracks.

Completing any of the above net you a gold/silver/bronze trophy with appropriate money to match, making it easy to buy all but the most expensive cars. And if you can't afford certain multi-million dollar cars, then it's no big deal because the game gives you a random free car every day if you race at least 25 miles. After 1-2 months with 80 hours of play, I got everything I wanted and could have easily sold the cars I didn't want to get other desirable cars.

The actual racing is surprisingly accurate. An experienced racer (or reckless driver) will be able to point out the small differences, but they're acceptable to me. I played through the entire game with a controller, and while I felt I wasn't nearly as accurate as I could have been, It didn't prevent me from getting gold in all of the challenges.

Braking is the most difficult thing to master in the game. At first, auto-breaking is turned on, and it seems almost necessary, not being experienced with the cars or tracks. But after going through enough of the training missions and challenges, you realize that the auto-braking is overly-aggressive and the only way to get gold in some missions is to turn it off. Afterwards, you'll end up relying on the brake indicator and the double-cones set up around the tracks (which are interestingly at near-optimal breaking points). Overall, the game did a great job at weaning me off of auto-breaking.

So even though it's focused more towards fair online racing, I had plenty of fun with its single-player modes and don't regret the purchase.

I did not have the pleasure of Testing out the VR Mode included but what is there is Quality. The Problem is what is missing is important to me and many racing fans alike, Campaign has been replaced with a challenge/training mode using the Campaign Moniker and it does not do it justice. The Cars and Tracks also look and feel incredible but the lack of variety in the cars and tracks is very disappointing indeed. At least Polyphony acknowledge this and are adding updates every month or so with new cars and one or two tracks but we have to review a game on what it launched with day one and quite frankly it is not enough. Lastly the Game is very much online "SPORT" Focused and it does not work very well, people do not play in a sportsmanship manor they will knock you off the road and you seem to get penalised for it, its a broken system that completely ruins the game and with all things considered its a shame that this was not resolved in the play testing stages of development. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gran Turismo Sport is a great game. However, while it has fixed some of the issues in the past, it created new problems that needs to be met in the future.
Most of the cars in the game have detailed interiors, and all of them actually look great. There is no jagged lines, and there is no imports from Gran Turismo 4, which was a main issue in the past. Most of the VGT cars has no interior, but does substitute for other camera angles. There is no infuriating color chips like in GT5 & GT6, which was stupid and infuriating. Also, for once, there is no microtransactions. Like in the past, you can earn gift cars. In fact, any car in the next update or now can be your gift car, either by Driving School, Mission Challenges, or Daily Workout. For now, the new cars and tracks are imports from GT6, but also makes the car sounds better and the tracks more detailed. No car in the game fells like an exact import from the previous games. Also, to point out, Carrer mode is NOT completely dead. Even from the start, since you could complete the Mission Challenges and the Driving School. The cars sound amazing. The tracks are gorgeous and are beutifully made. Online lobbies were as good as on GT6, with a few additions to it. The new flagging system adds realism, and the penalty system, while flawed, is a great addition to the game, as in realisitc races in the lobbies, or basically the FIA Manufacturer or National Races, or even Daily races, as people who play dirty, gets their Sportsmanship Ranking dropped a notch, and a time penalty, which would be added to your final position if ou choose not to slow down. Gran Turismo Sport seems as though it is trying to improve driving skills, teacg driving skills, and try to be a great Simcade racing game. Howevr, some adjustments needs to be made in order for that dream to become true.
The car list has to be one of the issues. Sure, now it has a lot of tracks, in fact, more than Gran Turismo 4. However, that game had over 500 more cars, and it's from 2005! GT5 & 6 together had about 11 times more cars than GT Sport. Sure, Project Cars 2 may have around the same amount, however, that game is part of a new franchise, not one that is 20 years old. Yes, the developers did say they wanted to "restart" the GT franchise. Howver, just why? Maybe I'm being too critical. Remember, not every great racing game needs 1500 cars right? Also, while carrer mode is there, it does need much more effort and work placed into it. Another issue is the museum. It serves no puropse, but only to teach you history. Not only racing history, but other things such as the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Ok? Another big issue is the only online issue. If you don't have a PlayStation Plus subscription, or does not have Wifi, you are out of luck, as you cannot save the game, and is only limited to arcade mode, which is a huge issue. For the most part, the pros overpower the cons. This game gets a 8.2/10. Please buy this game IF you have Wifi, a PlayStation Plus subscription, and a PlayStation 4. I mean, everyone should know now that any Gran Turismo game is PlayStation only. Anyway, see you later, and take care!

    The bad:
It does not have off-line game modes or home or local championships (only tests) rigorous Internet required. If you're not good at racing and you don't try hard you'll stay in the lower leagues without being able to advance, which will frustrate most. Irregular matchmaking (due to lack of users, so you will be matched with more skilled players and you will be frustrated as there is no feeling of improvement). It should not surprise anyone to be in the middle of carousel-type races in which no one risks, no one tries to overtake, the speed is constant and everyone is in line from start to finish. DLC for "premium cars" this is of vital importance since if you want to be competitive you have to make extra payments to have cars with which you will not make a fool of yourself in the races. Regular to bad graphics, many models come from GT6 that strangely only came out on Playstation 3 and not on Playstation 4. Bugs in the collision engine. Some curves and surfaces make cars behave strangely.

    The Meh!:
A Playstation game that requires a permanent connection, remember that a black narrative was built in the press about Xbox One's Always Connect and there were many people who used this argument to attack the competition and this game precisely uses that feature for not only its main mode but for the whole game. Because there is only online in its modes, it is not strange to find yourself several times with the same players
