    GT7 is actually not bad, it was just ruined by microtransactions. THE GT SPORT ALSO HAS THIS PROBLEM, BUT NOT AS SERIOUSLY AS THE GT7. For me, both the GT7 and the GTS are good driving simulators to help me practice my cars.

    After trying several different VR games the motion sickness has finally gone. Still with all that plastic and rubber on the head? Head overheat happens pretty quicky. Yeah even when using a massive floor fan to try and counter it. Maybe I need to use PS/VR in the winter or something?

In my opinion, it get's a lot of undeserved hate because a lot of people expected a traditional Gran Turismo game even though the marketing team made it clear it wasn't (unlike a certain other game GT7). Hands-down, one of the best Gran Turismo games I’ve ever played in my life. The handling of the cars in general is phenomenal without assists. Don’t think I’m ever gonna put this game down, this game is superior to Gran Turismo 7 in terms of handling the only thing that I truly lament is that there is no proper off-line single player, campaign mode huge bummer

    I just bought this game two weeks ago, and I love it. The campaign really doesn't deserve the hate it gets. The driving is great and gives you the standard gran turismo feel. The Split screen works flawlessly as well. The one thing is the car list. It's okay as it is, but is nothing compared to my other Gran Turismo, that being 5. One thing is making a race challenging, a completely different one is to give them 50+ SECOND LEAD over 10 laps ! ... Are the devs serious? Is that any fun or competitive? NO! Its scripted ! No matter what car I take or how hard I try, the last racer always remains first... Even when chasing him for over 2 laps and a 3+ second difference... If I'm going to chase the AI, can I at least be in the Top 10 for fck sake ?!
    Another con, lots of cars in game are ridiculously overpriced, like the GT40 for an example, even the Miura !
    The good things however are the handling, the cars, tracks and love the daily car rewards.

The online racing is good and after many updates I think the penalty system is very good. I just wish there was a way to report bad users but the bad users do suffer from penalties and a bad sportsmanship rating which helps kick them out of your class eventually. No voice chat in the race lobbies is a bad omission also which makes no sense with this generation. The graphics are amazing, racing physics are great. this feels like a Gran Turismo game if you like the series you will enjoy this game. After years of update this is well polished with so many tracks and cars. If you buy now which is always under $20 you getting a steal for your money. The career mode now exist in GT League but is still a bit shallow and was an afterthought. If it had a better career mode it would be a 10. Looking forward to Gran Turismo 7. Expand

    Gran Turismo Sport is my first foray into sim racing. Even though it isn't a proper sim (like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, rFactor, etc.), it's an excellent launchpad for people who want to get into sim racing and start with something a bit simpler.

    Gran Turismo Sport does several things well. For one, I love the driver rating system. It allows me to race against people with a similar amount of pace and skill as me, and it has really helped me improve quickly. I like the presence of Daily Races, albeit I wish there were more than 3 daily races. I also love the FIA races. The Manufacturer's Series and Nations Cup are two of the most competitive sporting environments I have ever experienced, and they're extremely fun. Next, the heads-up display in Gran Turismo Sport is outstanding. It is intuitive and extremely beneficial for new racers. It even allows you to enable and disable traction control mid race, a minor feature that actually helps many users with standing starts. However, the standout feature of the heads up display is the radar view. Radar view allows you to see if there are cars next to or behind you, and it is extremely helpful. I wish more racing games had something similar to it. If you want an introduction into competitive racing, this game offers that.

    However, there are things I want to see improved. First off, sportsmanship rating was not created well. I have driven against countless dirty drivers who somehow have the highest possible sportsmanship rating. That's a problem, and it has created some frustrating races. I also find the track selection to be quite disappointing. There are 31 tracks in the game as of this comment, some of which are original circuits, but most of which are real circuits. I just find that to be quite limiting. Next, we have the tutorials. While there are many great tutorials, there are many driving techniques that you don't learn. For example, the tutorials do not cover how to drive with no assists on. This makes the jump to online racing very difficult as online races will only allow anti-lock brakes and traction control. It also means you don't learn how to perform a non-TCS-assisted standing start. Finally, the penalty system is an absolute joke. I understand that it's difficult to build an algorithm that can properly determine what is an is not dirty driving, but it is completely broken. I have had races where I punt people off the track and get no penalty, but later get a 5 second wall collision penalty for getting nudged off the circuit and into a wall. The wall collision penalty has made street circuits impossible to race on, and the poor implementation of the game's penalty system has ruined so many races for me. It needs to be fixed.

    I noticed that the online nature of this game rubbed some the wrong way. The lack of career mode and lack of offline features were central to their comments. I think these people have misplaced their expectations for what GT Sport wanted to achieve. I haven't played the other Gran Turismo games, but in my experience playing Forza Motorsport 2 more than 10 years ago, I understand the thrill of a good, offline racing game. I also understand the frustration over the necessity to buy Playstation Plus. My comment is this: if you want a game with tons of offline racing features, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME. The offline features are severely lacking. However, if you want to get your feet wet with sim racing, buy this game, because it is extremely competitive, extremely fun, and an excellent place to start before graduating to a proper racing sim (such as the ones I mentioned.)

    The graphics are a nice glance, but certainly not the best on PlayStation 4. There are still some limits on the landscapes, but nothing scandalous.
    The gameplay, however, has the same problems that could be identified in Gran Turismo 6: AI that is anything but current, indeed not very "scalable" and decidedly not very competitive for the most trained player. The damage is still absent, and frankly, it could be added.
    The plot is absent, but being a sports game there is nothing to complain about. The cups are sufficient, yet the cars are fewer than GT6 and the circuits are few. Too few for a game that would like to be so close to the motorsport enthusiast.
    It is never easy to talk about sports video games, much less about cars. The vote would be barely sufficient in absolute terms. You certainly could have asked for more. It lacks innovation and the courage to dare something.

If you’re not into eSports then you can just bypass this mode. And if you’re looking for tracks, this game has you covered witha selection of the most banal cookie cutter race tracks from around the world.

    Still haven’t bothered with photomode or the livery editor, which are a hefty potion of the game. I’d rather drive than create tacky paint jobs and take pictures of them.

    The offline campaign is not a campaign but simply individual racing series. Some fun can be had, but there’s nothing to work toward other than grinding for credits. Incidentally you’ll need to farm lots of credits for many of the obscenely priced cars. And if you already worked to obtain them in GT6 it’s all a waste of time unless it’s for bragging rights or (you guessed it) to take pictures or paint them.

    Arcade mode is where I finds myself gravitating, creating my own races from the ample settings and options. It takes someone with a thick skin and the patience of a saint to deal with the online racing.

    The sounds are vastly improved from past games, and the graphics are always the best in the business, but I need more than just a pretty face to remain engaged.

    It does not have off-line game modes or home or local championships (only tests) rigorous Internet required. If you're not good at racing and you don't try hard you'll stay in the lower leagues without being able to advance, which will frustrate most. Irregular matchmaking (due to lack of users, so you will be matched with more skilled players and you will be frustrated as there is no feeling of improvement). It should not surprise anyone to be in the middle of carousel-type races in which no one risks, no one tries to overtake, the speed is constant and everyone is in line from start to finish. DLC for "premium cars" this is of vital importance since if you want to be competitive you have to make extra payments to have cars with which you will not make a fool of yourself in the races. Regular to bad graphics, many models come from GT6 that strangely only came out on Playstation 3 and not on Playstation 4. Bugs in the collision engine. Some curves and surfaces make cars behave strangely.

    The Meh!:
    A Playstation game that requires a permanent connection, remember that a black narrative was built in the press about Xbox One's Always Connect and there were many people who used this argument to attack the competition and this game precisely uses that feature for not only its main mode but for the whole game. Because there is only online in its modes, it is not strange to find yourself several times with the same players

I understand it thou as they mainly want you to race in standard cars and adjust the power to make the car qualify for the race. I just think it would be more fun if you could fine tune your car. Maybe have both and adjusting the power installs parts for you if you're someone who doesn't understand that sort of stuff.
    No camera control. This is so weird why this game doesn't have no camera control. You got look behind but you cant look around the car to see what damage has been done or to have a look at the lovely trees as you drive past.
    Lack of driving lessons (driving missions) I'm not sure if this is me having bad memory but I am sure GT4 has loads more then 48 which is how many GT sport has.
    Lack of cars. Why did GT4 have over 500 cars from its release date and GT sport has 324 after several updates? Its like these days we get less content to play around with than what we had over a decade ago.
    Why cant you choose a racetrack and car offline outside a campaign mode? Every racing game is the world has this option except this. It cant be hard to add a custom race option.
    Millage points are dumb and I struggle to see the point in them.
    Better damage and crashing. When you hit a wall at 200mph you bounce off it like bumpers cars and then have a couple scratches. It would be more fun if the bumper of something came off and the front crumpled up. (I won't take points off my review for this though as I understand this is a driving simulator and not crash testing simulator)
    To summarise these points. Improved car customisation so when you increase the power of the car you can stop it from handling and breaking like complete crap. Whats the point in giving players the option to make a R34 Skiline go over 200mph if at every corner you have to break a mile before it so you don't slide into the crash barrier and flip 5 times. So you never actually get to use the extra power. I know this isn't a street racing game but still would at least be nice to be able to change the break discs.
    Lacking overall content compared to previous games in the series.

    This game does have some good points though. Racing feels overall solid which is expected as GT has always done a good job at this. The graphics are great although I must say Forza does look slightly better but I think GT7 has a good chance at taking this back judging from what we have seen.
    This game doesn't have the largest choice of cars but it does have a wide range of years to choose from. Some cars being classics, some more modern. I just wish there was allot more.
    A great choice in race tracks granted not many.
    And that's about it.

    I hope gran turismo 7 isn't as basic as this game. Game companies these days do the bare minimum, they see sales start dropping and then they think the series is dying. Its not that at all. They need to pack more content in their games and add new huge ideas to keep people interested. If you remove content people like from a game than the people who bought the game specially for those things aren't gonna buy the new titles. Thats more then obvious so I cant get my head round why so many companies are doing this? Like solo arcade mode and driving licenses. 2 things this game use to have but now it doesn't and there is nothing that replaces it either.

It not only got me hooked on racing games again (after years of a brake), i got to actually learn to enjoy online racing and appreciate the skill that is required to be a high level esports racer (this game made me realized how unskilled i am myself). It all comes down to the great driving model, excellent online multiplayer and, the biggest surprise of all! the single player mode is actually very good, obviously not quite the scale of a regular "numbered" GT game, but the driving school, challenges is an excellent introduction for those who wish to understand racing better.
    Lesson learned - never doubt GT, never trust reviews, especially those rated with 0 or 1, which are written by haters.

An advise: The easiest and faster way to get money in my opinion is by wining the Professional Vision GT League races, with the Dodge SRT Tomahawk X VGT. As soon you get your first 1 Million Credits, go on USA Dodge Brand and buy it. This is by far the best car in the game! Here you can find a list with the best car for each category in the game: https://www.gamersdecide.com/articles/gran-turismo-sport-best-cars-each-class

    Pros:
    - Outstanding track and car graphs;
    - Lot of Vision Car;
    - Realistic Driving;
    - Customization options for car, helmet and suit liveries.

    Cons:
    - Many VGT cars, but fewer real cars;
    - Poor playlist (actually terrible);
    - Impossible to have a side view of your car while driving it;
    - Poor graph out of the track;
    - Championships simply doesn't exist in this game. You do not accumulate points through a championship, you just get a race and get a trophy for your position at the end.

Gran Turismo Sport today has numerous cars and is considered by the (FIA), by the majority of World Motorsport Drivers and Builders, as the best Racing and Simulation game. If you're a fan of the older games, just completely ignore this entry. It's a mediocre racing, "simulator" completely ruined by a ridiculous penalty system and a useless driver rating system. The most recent update made it so that the penalty system no longer tries to identify fault and just penalizes both players involved in the collision. Which means when little Timmy decides to ram you off your racing line you both get hit with a 5+ second penalty and it throws your entire race. You would think the sportsmanship rating system would prevent you from getting matched with people like this, right?

    Well you would be wrong. I was SR S and still regularly got matched with people who would intentionally brake way too soon intentionally attempting to cause a collision or would dive turns at insane speeds attempting to overtake. Which would lead to massive pile-ups in turns and everyone getting penalized. Polyphony's justification for this crap is, well you should be doing everything in your power to avoid getting hit even if you have to slam on the brakes or go off the track. This is chimp brain logic that Polyphony is using here.

    Thanks to the penalty system and how hyper competitive they designed the game to be, the online component(which is now 85% of the game) is a busted mess and is extremely frustrating. This brings me nicely to my next point which is that this game is basically online only now. Even when doing offline races without an internet connection, you get no less than 2 error messages telling you that you need to connect to the internet after every race. You also get error messages every single time you do literally anything that would sync data with their servers. Buy a car, get an error message. Change your driver livery, get an error message. Change your racing suit, get an error message. Speaking of customization there basically is none now.

    You remember how Gran Turismo was basically built on being able to customize your cars? That's good because Polyphony sure doesn't. There are 0 performance customizations available here besides basic stuff like tires. If you're expecting the classic Gran Turismo experience of spending time in the shop customizing and tweaking your cars there's absolutely NONE of that in this game. There's a pretty rudimentary livery editor for the cars, but that's it. The race rotation suffers from an extreme lack of content as well.

    There are 3 official sport races PER WEEK. The races used to rotate once every 24 hours, but Polyphony realized that this might accidentally cause someone to have fun. So they fixed the problem immediately and made sure that no one could possibly have fun with this game. While there are private lobbies, as far as I know these don't award SR or DR. So if you're trying to climb the ranks private games are basically useless.

    In conclusion: No Tracks, No cars and No fun allowed.

    Also, the engine sounds still suck.

    Graphics: it's the only thing that saves, with vehicles and tracks very well detailed, reflection and texture quality, it's a game that has the same perfection as an Uncharted 4 or GoW, but it doesn't surpass the DriveClub in the maximum equaling.

    Gameplay: This part is the weirdest to explain. While some cars have a good behavior on the track, inexplicably others have a very unpredictable behavior and in extreme cases the tweaking options will hardly be enough to recover them, add to that the lack of variety of customizations that the predecessors had and game is more like a mobile racing game than a GT, as the car improvements boil down to buying upgrade levels that some go up to 5 in performance and weight and that's all, no choice between turbocharger or aspirated, buy better brake system or anything.

    Conclusion Of the GTs I've played, which were all but the PS3 ones, I can confidently say that this GT is little better than the GT3 or the PSP GT, lagging far behind much older games like GT2 or even the best for me, the GT4. You'll miss the great tracks from previous games, the variety of cars and all the customizations that were possible in exchange for an online mode that forces you to play for ridiculous rewards as well as unfair punishments because the developer decides they would only have touch races which you are forced to run with toxic people, who are only there to disrupt the game of others.

I come from F1 Series so it is refreshing to see new tracks. The car editor and driver editor is the best I have seen so far in a racing game! I do not play single player so I cannot judge this, for this I have F1 2020 - online is GT Sport great. The "daily races" could change after 2-3 days, that would be nice, but this is a minor point. Why not 10? minus 1 because of the weak penalty system. I think I drive too "real" that is why sometimes I loose position because some dude thinks he can push me off track first....in real, there would be much more penalty. Another minus point is for "ghosting" either you leave it completely or you extend it longer, sometimes I do not know if I can get through or not, suddenly the car is "back" and I hit the back, bam penalty for me...if it would be OFF complete then I would know, ok I have to hit the brake or take another line. The game does well to feel authentic, in terms of sounds and track gameplay, you do feel like you're putting the pedal to the metal, especially in first person mode - The detail, natural feel in terms of movement, gravity and weight is spot on.

    The replays are just sick, you do find yourself endlessly racing the Nurburgring just to watch the replay, to see how you carve the corners, the glowing discs and sparks etc.

    The overall UI is slick, polished (one of the best looking for a racing game) but is slow, for a UI that resembles a cars infotainment system or computer, you can't quickly get around screens quickly.

    Being able to create liveries and the vast array of alloys, paint colours and cars is great, there's always a new car to customise, however. This whole customisations of cars only pays off when you want to share liveries or take pics of them via Scapes. In game, there doesn't feel like there's enough exposure of your vehicle to warrant the detail, it's all very scripted... predictable.

    You can like before, mess with the cars engine etc but this seems to be pointless unless you're racing with friends in a private game, as when you play online, your specs are all matched.

    The main downfall with this game is that it's very predictable and there's nothing innovative or unexpected, no new modes that keep you interested in times when you're not winning races or finished the challenges or arcade.

    To really move this game on, they need to move out of the tried and tested linear worlds and explore the realm of open world or true custom racing.

    Also, the penalty system is broken in the game, you find yourself getting penalised because other more cunning drivers are able to exploit the penalty system against you.

    Gran Turismo Sport has improved massively since October 2017, there are now an average amount of cars and tracks, There are less bugs, less disconnections, and polished for an overall better experience to be had compared to at launch. If you plan to get this, here are a few things to note:
    1. This game's free DLC updates are essentially done. Each update only brings 1 car, if we're lucky.

    2. This game is a "Live Service" type game. This means that almost all of what GT Sport has to offer is available online ONLY. When offline, you cant access your save (God forbid you win a long race, and suddenly your internet OR the game goes down for maintenance) and you can only access arcade mode, with a few selected cars for you to choose. Very lackluster for a game that was known to be the king of driving simulation!
    3. This game's community is nothing but toxic, begging, self promoting, skill shaming tw*ts. For an online game, especially on here, this is not a good thing. If you do not use a wheel, or even a $5,000+ pointless setup, expect people to hound at you on public lobbies (this game's equivalent to a casual, unranked game), and kick you for the slightest mistake.

    Rating: 5/10
    TL;DR: This game has massively improved as of December 2020, but the toxic community and live service crap continues to move along. I could rate this higher, maybe a 6 or a 7. However, as we get closer to the anticipated release of Gran Turismo 7 for the PS5, the future of this game's play-ability gets more and more dire with every new announcement and update that comes out. Will this game go away for good after the release of GT7? Will it get an offline update, and reach its true potential? We don't know, and it doesn't look good from here.

    I know that main focus is on competitive side of simracing. But gamedesing is so weak that it is literaly worse that you can find. Ranking system points is so unobvious that you can finish in top 3 but point will be removed. Only fun gameplay which game provide is sheduled races which will always have influence on your rankings. If you want to have fun that go to custom lobbies and find fun for yourself. Penalty system with all changes still not work. Part of penalties are truth but in 10% of all incedents. Ranking system is unobvious. You can finish in top 3 or gain more that 10 positions and recieve decreasing of raiting (including best lap). If we are talking about competitive game this is wors example. All scheduled races is raiting ones. To gain raiting only is grind in 3rd event. If you dont like it or other 3 events you need to wait next week. It is obviously good try but all main mechenicks are not working. All cars are more slipery comparing to other sims.

    Score 1 is litery based on main concept and realisation of concept. GT Sport is not bat in solo mode but solo mode dont have a lot of content and it is literaly empty. If we are talking about competitive side it literaly bad. This litery main and worst part of GT Sport. With unobvios and not representative (exept high levels) ranking and penalties system ranking mathcmaking is bad. If you want to chill in racing game better spend time in any other sim.

    Pros:
    - Sim game on PS4 with stable online (in end of 2020 game with stable online)
    - Good livery desing editor

    Cons:
    - Bad simulation cars are more slipery that in other games.
    - Bad and unobvious ranking and penalties system.
    - All multiplayer scheduled races are ranked (Dayly ones too)
    - If you want to find fun find it by yourself (including other games)
    - No singleplayer content.
    - Some of penalties litteraly unfair and require a lot of grind to restore it.

    As result main part of games is concentaited on spotsmanship and ranking multiplayer. Unfortunatly it is not working.

    GT Sport will scratch your driving itch before you play GT7 on PS5. The free car and track updates keep coming too since the game released. GT and Forza Motorsport I both love equally.

    Engine sounds are the same and look like a vacuum cleaner. Landscape graphics are weak, lifeless and with few details. Game animation is very bad or is practically zero. No details of the workshop or podium. Game without emotion.
    Even though it is an arcade game, the Xbox Forza is much better. Sony needs to change that for us PS games.

    It cannot save single player without a server connection. And their servers sometimes stop working. Also poor single player campaign.

    Nice Racing Game for PS4! It makes me wish That Gran Turismo 7 For PS5 should come to the PS4 as well (since PS4 will still be supported)

    First things first. This is a racing game that is primarily focused on competitive online racing. Think of it this way, it's a Gran Turismo spin-off game that was initially all about online racing. Do not buy this expecting it to be exactly like a main-line Gran Turismo games which are primarily focused on their vast career modes and car lists. Think of it this way, it's a Gran Turismo spin-off game that was initially all about online racing. Do not buy this expecting it to be exactly like a main-line Gran Turismo games which are primarily focused on their vast career modes and car lists. I will try to tell you all about this game in my review. To begin, over this games life, it has received MANY content updates which increased the car and track configuration list from 168 cars and 29 track configurations to 328 cars and 82 track configurations as of this review. they have also since added a more traditional career mode known as GT League. while the are many events in the GT Leauge as of this review it's obviously not as big as the GT Modes in main-line GT games. Other elements of the career mode include Driving School (Licence Test basically. However, you don't get a digital licence), Mission Challenge (A variety of challenging missions, pretty self-explanatory), and finally Circuit Experience (A very helpful and challenging mode which has all the tracks in the game divided up into mission that take place over sectors so that you can learn the tracks individually at your own pace.). All of the career mode events minus GT Leauge have in-game video tutorials to help guide you through the events, which is quite helpful especially if you are have trouble completing the events. Now let's talk about the driving experience. Id classify this game as a casual simulator. it's not quite simple enough to be considered a simcade game, however, it not exactly a hardcore sim either. This game performs perfectly well on a controller and you can win races online using it. also, there is a motion control option available which is absolutely superb, especially if you aren't ready or wanting to use a driving wheel. it allows you to get a better feel for the car and drive smoother and more consistently. With a Force Feedback Driving wheel, this game really sings. you can feel the weight of the car shift so much better and the wheel has a resistance that you can feel when turning, and it feels different in pretty much every car. Now onto sound design and visuals. To begin sounds in this game have been MASSIVELY improved compared to all other GT games that had preceded it. the sounds of the cars have more depth, for example, The Mercedes McLaren SLR has a deep sounding V8 sound which is further enhanced by the supercharger whine that could even be heard a bit outside the car. The environmental sounds have also been improved you can hear cheering spectators birds and wind resistance noises. Visually the game is stunning, especially when playing on a 4K HDR TV. the colour accuracy is on point, it's not over or undersaturated and the colours pop when they should like during the dramatic sunsets at certain times of day, and it gett dark when it needs to. Nighttime at the Nurburgring 24 soo dark that you have to rely on the headlights of your car to see in some areas. Performance-wise the game target 60fps at all time in every performance mode. I have been playing since launch and the frame never drop low enough for me to notice. Finally, let's talk about online gameplay. First, there is Sport Mode the one the game is named after there is 3 Daily Race that runs for a whole week before being replaced then there are FIA Manufacturer and Nations Cup races that run on strict schedules that are different depending on the race season. Personally, I quite like the Daily Races as they offer easy to enter events where you can race competitively with other players which make for some great fun battles that take place over a race. There are Ranking that helps the game match you with similarly skilled players. These are known as Sportsmanship (SR how safe a driver you are) and Driver Ratings (DR how much you improve your qualified position during the race). The is one complaint that comes up with online racing, however. The penalty system in the game punishes players that hit others and cut corners by penalizing them with slow down penalties. Unfortunately, the system can sometimes punish the victim in a collision which can be frustrating. Never the less Sport Mode produces some epic on-track action that you won't be forging for a while after wars. When you finally get your first win it's an immensely satisfying feeling that you may never forget. Everything considered this is definitely one of the best racing games this generation and its definitely worth your time. Thank you for reading! Expand

Love it!

Good game. There's a lot to do. Nice that they also promote the car brands by having a museum. It's a realistic game. A bit difficult at first, but this quickly improves after a while.

    Can't believe some reviews here. The ammount of details in this game shows the love Poliphony has for this sport. A lot of people just deserves an arcade race. Waiting for Gran Turismo 7 !!

    GT Sport boasts an excellent driving model and superb car models, but primarily it’s a paramount step towards blurring the line between electronic entertainment and sport, and on a global scale. I just hope Polyphony continues working on the game until it reaches its full potential. [13/2017, p.42]

    Standard online races built on proven-by-the-years core of the Gran Turismo series. However, it suffers from an acute lack of content. In addition, if you play solo you have to avoid Sport. [Issue#280]
