    GT Sport is my first experience with Gran Turismo and it was enjoyable in the campaign mode, until I reached the professional league. My main problem with this game is the AI. Not only I have to start off most races mid pack to last in a rolling start, the AI is overpowered, doesn't make mistakes and specially the first few on the leaderboard...
    One thing is making a race challenging, a    GT Sport is my first experience with Gran Turismo and it was enjoyable in the campaign mode, until I reached the professional league. My main problem with this game is the AI. Not only I have to start off most races mid pack to last in a rolling start, the AI is overpowered, doesn't make mistakes and specially the first few on the leaderboard...
    One thing is making a race challenging, a completely different one is to give them 50+ SECOND LEAD over 10 laps ! ... Are the devs serious? Is that any fun or competitive? NO! Its scripted ! No matter what car I take or how hard I try, the last racer always remains first... Even when chasing him for over 2 laps and a 3+ second difference... If I'm going to chase the AI, can I at least be in the Top 10 for fck sake ?!
    Another con, lots of cars in game are ridiculously overpriced, like the GT40 for an example, even the Miura !
    The good things however are the handling, the cars, tracks and love the daily car rewards.    … Expand

    Online version of Gran Turismo, there is some single player events but its not proper Gran Turismo. Thou graphics and physics are great.

    I bought GT Sport at release as I'm a huge Gran Turismo fan. I started playing GT2 in the late 90's and I love the Gran Turismo series. At first I was not too excited as it's mostly pushed to race online and I liked Gran Turismo for the career mode. The online racing is good and after many updates I think the penalty system is very good. I just wish there was a way to report bad users butI bought GT Sport at release as I'm a huge Gran Turismo fan. I started playing GT2 in the late 90's and I love the Gran Turismo series. At first I was not too excited as it's mostly pushed to race online and I liked Gran Turismo for the career mode. The online racing is good and after many updates I think the penalty system is very good. I just wish there was a way to report bad users but the bad users do suffer from penalties and a bad sportsmanship rating which helps kick them out of your class eventually. No voice chat in the race lobbies is a bad omission also which makes no sense with this generation. The graphics are amazing, racing physics are great. this feels like a Gran Turismo game if you like the series you will enjoy this game. After years of update this is well polished with so many tracks and cars. If you buy now which is always under $20 you getting a steal for your money. The career mode now exist in GT League but is still a bit shallow and was an afterthought. If it had a better career mode it would be a 10. Looking forward to Gran Turismo 7.… Expand

    The developers tried to move on with this game in a new direction which succeeded only in a few parts. Basically it was a multiplayer game with a few bonus missions for singleplayer. Not for everyone.

    The excellent car physics and the GT spirit are there, but otherwise, Sport reeks of an unessential spinoff. A little too streamlined and a bit uninspired.

    A good racing simulator and nothing beyond that. It looks good. I tried to race with my friends, but then i saw how much it can be boring. I know it is a simulator but this game is ONLY for simulation lovers. Do not buy this game if you like arcade racing games, because you will get bored very fast.

    The plot is absent, but being a sports game there is nothing to complain about. The cups are sufficient, yet the cars are fewer than GT6 and the circuits are few. Too few for a game that would like to be so close to the motorsport enthusiast.
    It is never easy to talk about sports video games, much less about cars. The vote would be barely sufficient in absolute terms. You certainly could have asked for more. It lacks innovation and the courage to dare something.    … Expand

    The post mortem I give for this is that it was an interim title that PD didnt care about once their 18 months were up and GT7 was the new masthead title. There's a lot to like about it for the person who's immersed in the GT universe but there's also a lot to dislike given PD didnt really want to support this one. The single player is laughable. The FIA championship (aka the crown jewel) is still geared for the elite, but the vast majority of participants can expect to simply fill the grids. If you’re not into eSports then you can just bypass this mode. And if you’re looking for tracks, this game hasIt’s been a year, and I’m still underwhelmed. We can expect to get more cars drip fed via DLC, but the game core hasn’t changed. And if you’re looking for tracks, this game has you covered witha selection of the most banal cookie cutter race tracks from around the world.

    Still haven’t bothered with photomode or the livery editor, which are a hefty potion of the game. I’d rather drive than create tacky paint jobs and take pictures of them.

    The offline campaign is not a campaign but simply individual racing series. Some fun can be had, but there’s nothing to work toward other than grinding for credits. Incidentally you’ll need to farm lots of credits for many of the obscenely priced cars. And if you already worked to obtain them in GT6 it’s all a waste of time unless it’s for bragging rights or (you guessed it) to take pictures or paint them.

    Arcade mode is where I finds myself gravitating, creating my own races from the ample settings and options. It takes someone with a thick skin and the patience of a saint to deal with the online racing.

    The sounds are vastly improved from past games, and the graphics are always the best in the business, but I need more than just a pretty face to remain engaged.    … Expand

    I'm gonna start off with the bad and finish with the good.
    The things that I really didn't like with this game is the huge lack of car customisation. I don't mean need for speed type of course. You can change the way the car handles and suspension. I understand it thou as they mainly want you to race in standard cars and adjust the power to make the car qualify for the race. I just think it would be more fun if you could fine tune your car. Maybe have both and adjusting the power installs parts for you if you're someone who doesn't understand that sort of stuff.
    No camera control. This is so weird why this game doesn't have no camera control. You got look behind but you cant look around the car to see what damage has been done or to have a look at the lovely trees as you drive past.
    Lack of driving lessons (driving missions) I'm not sure if this is me having bad memory but I am sure GT4 has loads more then 48 which is how many GT sport has.
    Lack of cars. Why did GT4 have over 500 cars from its release date and GT sport has 324 after several updates? Its like these days we get less content to play around with than what we had over a decade ago.
    Why cant you choose a racetrack and car offline outside a campaign mode? Every racing game is the world has this option except this. It cant be hard to add a custom race option.
    Millage points are dumb and I struggle to see the point in them.
    Better damage and crashing. When you hit a wall at 200mph you bounce off it like bumpers cars and then have a couple scratches. It would be more fun if the bumper of something came off and the front crumpled up. (I won't take points off my review for this though as I understand this is a driving simulator and not crash testing simulator)
    To summarise these points. Improved car customisation so when you increase the power of the car you can stop it from handling and breaking like complete crap. Whats the point in giving players the option to make a R34 Skiline go over 200mph if at every corner you have to break a mile before it so you don't slide into the crash barrier and flip 5 times. So you never actually get to use the extra power. I know this isn't a street racing game but still would at least be nice to be able to change the break discs.

    This game does have some good points though. Racing feels overall solid which is expected as GT has always done a good job at this. The graphics are great although I must say Forza does look slightly better but I think GT7 has a good chance at taking this back judging from what we have seen.
    This game doesn't have the largest choice of cars but it does have a wide range of years to choose from. Some cars being classics, some more modern. I just wish there was allot more.
    A great choice in race tracks granted not many.
    And that's about it.

    I hope gran turismo 7 isn't as basic as this game. Game companies these days do the bare minimum, they see sales start dropping and then they think the series is dying. Its not that at all. They need to pack more content in their games and add new huge ideas to keep people interested. If you remove content people like from a game than the people who bought the game specially for those things aren't gonna buy the new titles. Thats more then obvious so I cant get my head round why so many companies are doing this? Like solo arcade mode and driving licenses. 2 things this game use to have but now it doesn't and there is nothing that replaces it either.    … Expand

    As a lover of racing games I had to play GT Sport. Even though my feelings on the first days weren't the best ones, when 'played time' got bigger, I started seeing that GT Sport was being an OK game and then a good game, but NOT a simulator.

    The actual gameplay is great. All the cars look and drive the way their supposed to. You can tell the people who worked on the game really cared about the small details, which is great. Everything surrounding the gameplay, however, isn't very good. It's an always-on game, which i hate because when the servers go off, you lose all your progress.     This game is a bit much. Single Player training and campaign aren't the most fun. Arcade is fun to play with friends split-screen. Multiplayer online is great for fans of the series. I don't really like the Ui as it is a bit clunky. This is a great game.

Only thing i liked is its by far the best looking granturismo we got so far but its too much missing key gameplay elements that made the older granturismo games so good. The good thing which is the only thing I really loved about this game are the costum liveries, which can be created or downloaded. When I think about this game for a little longer I know that I don't feel like playing a Gran Turismo game, as I played every single GT title so far. The Driving licence is changed in something more easier, it is not challenging as before, and also it is not required to complete it to advance in the Career Mode as it was on previous titles. All in all you don't feel like this being a Gran Turismo game after all, but at least they didn't threw a bunch of almost identical cars like they did in GT6 ( 5 almost identical Mazda Roadster just with different statistics, what a waste of time and storage)… Expand

    The replays are just sick, you do find yourself endlessly racing the Nurburgring just to watch the replay, to see how you carve the corners, the glowing discs and sparks etc.

    The overall UI is slick, polished (one of the best looking for a racing game) but is slow, for a UI that resembles a cars infotainment system or computer, you can't quickly get around screens quickly.

    Being able to create liveries and the vast array of alloys, paint colours and cars is great, there's always a new car to customise, however. This whole customisations of cars only pays off when you want to share liveries or take pics of them via Scapes. In game, there doesn't feel like there's enough exposure of your vehicle to warrant the detail, it's all very scripted... predictable.

    You can like before, mess with the cars engine etc but this seems to be pointless unless you're racing with friends in a private game, as when you play online, your specs are all matched.

    The main downfall with this game is that it's very predictable and there's nothing innovative or unexpected, no new modes that keep you interested in times when you're not winning races or finished the challenges or arcade.

    To really move this game on, they need to move out of the tried and tested linear worlds and explore the realm of open world or true custom racing.

    Also, the penalty system is broken in the game, you find yourself getting penalised because other more cunning drivers are able to exploit the penalty system against you.    … Expand

    1. This game's free DLC updates are essentially done. Each update only brings 1 car, if we're lucky.    Gran Turismo Sport has improved massively since October 2017, there are now an average amount of cars and tracks, There are less bugs, less disconnections, and polished for an overall better experience to be had compared to at launch. If you plan to get this, here are a few things to note:
    1. This game's free DLC updates are essentially done. Each update only brings 1 car, if we're lucky.
    2. This game is a "Live Service" type game. This means that almost all of what GT Sport has to offer is available online ONLY. When offline, you cant access your save (God forbid you win a long race, and suddenly your internet OR the game goes down for maintenance) and you can only access arcade mode, with a few selected cars for you to choose. Very lackluster for a game that was known to be the king of driving simulation!
    3. This game's community is nothing but toxic, begging, self promoting, skill shaming tw*ts. For an online game, especially on here, this is not a good thing. If you do not use a wheel, or even a $5,000+ pointless setup, expect people to hound at you on public lobbies (this game's equivalent to a casual, unranked game), and kick you for the slightest mistake.

    Rating: 5/10
    TL;DR: This game has massively improved as of December 2020, but the toxic community and live service crap continues to move along. I could rate this higher, maybe a 6 or a 7. However, as we get closer to the anticipated release of Gran Turismo 7 for the PS5, the future of this game's play-ability gets more and more dire with every new announcement and update that comes out. Will this game go away for good after the release of GT7? Will it get an offline update, and reach its true potential? We don't know, and it doesn't look good from here.    … Expand

    O jogo em geral é bom, os gráficos são excelentes, a jogabilidade é ótima, porém, o jogo carece de um modo carreira que marcou os títulos anteriores e carece de uma gama gigantesca de carros e pistas. Em outras palavras, ele é bom como um jogo de corrida, mas como um Gran Turismo ele é bem fraquinho.

    GT Sport will scratch your driving itch before you play GT7 on PS5. The free car and track updates keep coming too since the game released. GT and Forza Motorsport I both love equally.

    But penalty system its just polyphony. They changed penalty system to a total disaster.
    You receiving penalties for BEING HIT! Only really serious hits are counted, but still hitted car gets penalty for hitting, for loosing the track, and need to start over. For putting other car to the fence you get MAYBE a 3s penalty and some MR points deducted, but that's nothing compare to the car on the fence which will loose about 10s :)
    That game is a serious scam.
    Go for project cars insteed, dont look at gt sport. ever.    … Expand

    I've finally gotten around to playing what is one of only two simulation racing franchises on the PS4. And it's not bad.

    I'm not big into racing games, preferring to race my own C6 Corvette in real life (rarely). Also, I'm not much into multiplayer, so only played the single player portions of this game.     My overall score basically comes down to having no games to compare this to, having not played a racing game since the 90's. In the game's current updated state, I found it to be slightly above average for what I was expecting, hence the "6".

    The game is set up like a mobile game, where you can spend real money to more quickly unlock the cars and upgrades you want. After playing the game a good 80 hours, I found no need to spend money and it didn't distract much from the experience, so I was pleased.

    The car selection is a little disappointing. It's heavily Japanese-based, which makes sense given it's a Japanese game. But I was a little surprised at the lack of famous classic European and American cars. My own C6 isn't there along with the C5, which were unstoppable monsters during their periods in racing. There's also an obvious lack of Porsche and Ferrari models. Though this isn't a huge deal since the cars all felt very similar. It basically came down to: the newer the car, the better it handled (primarily traction). For the most part, the older cars just seemed like they were on junk tires with junk suspensions.

    Car upgrades are passable, but a bit disappointing. You spend "mileage points" to unlock several levels of power or weight upgrades. Mileage points are gained pretty easily just by racing in the game. You can then dial the power or weight up or down within the range that you unlocked. So no "real" power train upgrades, such as buying actual parts for your engine. There's no real tire upgrades. You just have a list to choose from that are available for each race. Suspension upgrades don't exist, but like your tires, you can modify suspension/ride height settings at any time before a race. So it isn't bad, but is aimed at folks who just want to race with an even playing field rather than those who want to experiment with various parts.

    As for content, there's a bunch. Pages and pages of racing leagues where you can just jump in to races with set restrictions A driving school, where there's another huge page of "missions" to complete that are meant to improve your driving skills. Then there's the large number of mission challenges where you're asked to do a large variety of tasks, such as complete sections of tracks within set time frames, pass a certain number of cars without hitting him, and hitting top speeds within certain limits. And then there's the circuit experience, where it gives you turn-by-turn experience in the game's large number of tracks.

    Completing any of the above net you a gold/silver/bronze trophy with appropriate money to match, making it easy to buy all but the most expensive cars. And if you can't afford certain multi-million dollar cars, then it's no big deal because the game gives you a random free car every day if you race at least 25 miles. After 1-2 months with 80 hours of play, I got everything I wanted and could have easily sold the cars I didn't want to get other desirable cars.

    The actual racing is surprisingly accurate. An experienced racer (or reckless driver) will be able to point out the small differences, but they're acceptable to me. I played through the entire game with a controller, and while I felt I wasn't nearly as accurate as I could have been, It didn't prevent me from getting gold in all of the challenges.

    Braking is the most difficult thing to master in the game. At first, auto-breaking is turned on, and it seems almost necessary, not being experienced with the cars or tracks. But after going through enough of the training missions and challenges, you realize that the auto-braking is overly-aggressive and the only way to get gold in some missions is to turn it off. Afterwards, you'll end up relying on the brake indicator and the double-cones set up around the tracks (which are interestingly at near-optimal breaking points). Overall, the game did a great job at weaning me off of auto-breaking.

    So even though it's focused more towards fair online racing, I had plenty of fun with its single-player modes and don't regret the purchase.    … Expand

    Not even close to the level of forza or others racing/simulator games like project cars. Less cars and in general, less content than the competence. Gran turismo is not ageing well.

The level of detail, from the engine tweaking to the shades the trees project onto the track, all contribute to making this the most realistic driving simulator I've ever laid my hands on. So if that's what you're after, buy it. Don't even hesitate. Just buy it. I guarantee you won't regret it. The developers constantly release updates so it's unquestionably worthy of the price you have to pay. But like I said at the beginning, I'm not that type of a gamer. I typically prefer titles with a stronger story backbone and this has none attached to it. The hyper-realistic nature of this simulator also makes the game incredibly hard to play and I have no shame in saying that I struggle to even keep my car on the racing track. So for this reason, I'm giving the game a rating of 6/10. But if you've bothered to read this far into my review, and you're still deciding whether or not GT Sport is the racing game for you, then this is question you should ask yourself: are you a realistic racing simulator enthusiast? If so, then go purchase it. It'll undoubtedly be a 10/10 for you. But if, like me, you're more of a casual racing gamer and you only want to have fun on the tracks every now and then (and there should be no shame for anyone to admit to this - each to their own right?), then I would not recommend you to get this title.     This game is made only for multyplayer. If you do not have unlimited and fast internet connection at home, do not buy this game. Shame on you polyphony digital. I am going back to GT6. Also there is no full support of VR, single race ( no multyplayer) or 2 player race, thats it.

    Quite an ambiguous game, I'm not a fan of racing, but the game can even delay such a person. I played about 30 hours into it (which is quite a bit for such a game), I can say that the physics is quite good, there are a lot of different machines and it is interesting online. The graphics are good, the driving is good, the lack of deep customisation is a bit disappointing, the concept and roadcars-turned-racecar-turned-roadcars are awesome, the really fast concepts are difficult to drive, the content is still lacking but improving over time... Basically I recommend this if you like Forza butThis is a great game if you think Forza has too many distractions. The progression system of grinding races for money to but those soft race tires or stage 4 turbo engine. They wen't from having 1,197 cars to under 200. Made the progression system into adding points to make your car faster or handle better. NoWell, i've been playing Gran turismo since the original in 1997 on Playstation one. I used to supe up my favorites, mitsubishi 3000gt and Chevy cars and then race in the quarter mile to see their time get slightly better after each upgrade i purchased. Can't do that in this game. Missing my favorite tracks, many of my old favorite cars. They have been adding cars and tracks this past 6 months along with events like american muscle cars only and Sunday cup but it's still not I would expect or want from the gran tursimo game. Maybe the next one will go back, if it stays to this formula than I guess I'm done with this series. 20 years isn't bad for any series.… Expand

At least Polyphony acknowledge this and are adding updates every month or so with new cars and one or two tracks but we have to review a game on what it launched with day one and quite frankly it is not enough. Lastly the Game is very much online "SPORT" Focused and it does not work very well, people do not play in a sportsmanship manor they will knock you off the road and you seem to get penalised for it, its a broken system that completely ruins the game and with all things considered its a shame that this was not resolved in the play testing stages of development. I Hope GT 7 Fixes these issues, the question is how long will we have to wait SONY?… Expand

    Years and years of development, delays and more delays... And they sold us a incomplete game. As a GT fan I can say the online mode is almost perfect and have a perfect matchmaking. On the other hand, the offline is pure trash. Some lessons, challenges and that´s all! No career mode. By the way, if you are not online, all you can do is play the arcade mode. VR mode is very good.

    First of all, why adopt PDT? For me, first race start 0 am, what is impossible for someone who work 8 hrs in the weekdays. But even for US PDT time is kinda retard, someone who lives in west coast, first race starts at 22 pm.

Single player is essentially a driving school to teach you how to race at professional levels and every intricate detail of each track to prepare you for online racing, which this game really is, a competitive online racer. I can't sell duplicates of cars that i get for getting gold on tracks or doing driving license challenges, so thats lame. The mileage exchange is fairly baron as well with next to nothing i want to exchange my mileage score for. The driving and tracks are great though, it feels MUCH MUCH better than forza 7 and is over all much better even though it is severely lacking content in comparison. But if you're looking for the best racing experience and have both xbox and ps4, this is the clear choice against forza even though neither particularly excel.… Expand

    I get what the developers were trying to do here, but they shouldn't have done what they did if they didn't want to disappoint long time fans. I loved racing through the different classes. No campaign mode really burnt me out on this game already. If you want what this game should've been then get a Forza game.

    i will write the review as if is the game compared to project cars 2 and to gran turismo 6 . it is worst visually than project cars however it has way better steering mechanics and it gives for me kind of a better driving sensation , what i prefer about project cars 2 was the graphics and atmosphere and ofc even sound effects , gran turismo gives you good graphics on the cars and crapi will write the review as if is the game compared to project cars 2 and to gran turismo 6 . it is worst visually than project cars however it has way better steering mechanics and it gives for me kind of a better driving sensation , what i prefer about project cars 2 was the graphics and atmosphere and ofc even sound effects , gran turismo gives you good graphics on the cars and crap graphics for everything else, . compared to gran turismo 6, is way better visually ofc and it gives a slightly better driving satisfaction , driving is more realistic and all this staff , although gt6 was best only because it had way much more cars and also many options on engine customization where gt sport has none , as for the campaign ofc gt6 had just a way more stylus one. in other words the game is indeed good but ofc its also way far from perfect. anw even i had not played forza ever from what i am hearing microsoft lovers are too happy about it , but for sony lovers after the failure of project cars 1 and 2 driveclub asseto corsa and now gran turismo i cant say there is a racing game on ps4 which can truly satisfy me as a gamer , guess our hope now lies on need for speed which is not exactly what the driver game lovers wishes for anw.. i stil love it ofc but it is in a different category of its own… Expand

    Details:

    I can see why many gamers and old school GT players like myself are not happy with this release. As I listed above, I'm not overly happy with what has been brought to the plate. First the pros about the game.

    Stability wasn't initially an issue, network crashes are now common!
    The graphics and not just the cars are top notch and i'm not even running a 4k TV.
    Physics engine is spot on.
    Menu system is an improvement over GT6, though GT5 remains my favorite menu setup.

    Now to what I consider the cons.

    Though the original download of 35+ gig seemed small, I was unpleasantly surprised that I had to wait another 7 hours for the other 55+ gig to finish and was basically teased with the promise that at some point I would gain access to the rest of the menu system and be able to accomplish something other than an AI race. I would have preferred them just make me wait for the entire install because it seemed the system took longer to finish the remaining amount of data than the transfer speeds were of the first 35 gig.

    Logged into game today at 8 PM EST and game is having maintenance during a prime hour which is normally unheard of. Back to Arcade mode again because progress can't be made during offline mode. If that is the case, maintenance should be during off hours in the time zones where players are normally awake.

    Most disappointing was the vehicle list. 162 is the official count. Remove all the vehicles with the word "Vision" in the name and that drops to 128. I haven't took the time to count, yet. However, I'd surmise that there might be half that number in original vehicles in the game or around 64. Vehicles that are OEM make up maybe a third of the total vehicles. Don't get me wrong, race vehicles are needed of course. But, those Vision Concept vehicles are not. As a typical gear head, I'm interested in the OEM vehicles and tuning them and racing them. I don't have the money to do it in real life, so I get my need from GT or at least I used to. Now I've had to purchase Forza 7 to continue having the chance to drive a GTX, a GNX, or even an old school racer. The Vision cars in GTS do not even exist even as a concept to my knowledge, a few might, but they are definitely not built as a production model. I never wanted that from GT. It was built on the fact that it had a large number of vehicles. I have no problem with them lowering the amount of vehicles, but don't replace the ones you do have with non-existent make believe garbage when there are real life cars just as cool that people want the chance to drive, even digitally.

    Lack of tracks is another major annoyance. Since GT1 there has been a super speedway (not an oval) that I used to test cars on. Others include Monza and Laguna Seca. Not available on GTS. Now tracks are appearing that I've never even seen before. Though neat, should be added in favor of the classic track icons that are world renown.

    Some reviewers have been lauding the audio in the game as improved over previous versions. To me, the sound is identical to all the previous games. I think the main problem is that the sound of the vehicle is only heard from the back. Drivers like me are either in the cockpit or the bumper cam. I can only hear the exhaust note in GTS if I'm on the roof cam or in 3rd person behind the car. Otherwise all the vehicles sound like they have a supercharger wine to them even when the vehicle doesn't have a SC on it. Its like they don't even think of those things when testing the game. Either that or they don't care.

    The final con I'll comment on is the tuning menu. You can tell they put it in as an afterthought. It doens't even have its own menu system. You do it through the car tuning section that is accessed even before races. Now you just have levels, not parts and you use special currency (not credits earned from racing) to level up the performance of the vehicle.

    There are plenty of pure racing games out there. What made GT exciting was how it included every day drivers all the way up to race cars. If they turn this game into just another pure racing game, then I guess I'll bid the series a fond farewell and become a Forza fanboy even though I hate Microsoft products. I hate to say it, but I'm highly disappointed in the game. I'll still play it for a while because I bought it.     After the Beta i would have rated the game with 9/10 but now that the game is in my hands and i have a sense for the full experience i change it to a 7/10. I don't have a problem with less cars. I can only drive so many in 365 days in a year and master even less but when it comes to tracks it's a shame that there are only so few. The tracks that are there are very well designed and feel very very good. Driving school feels like a thing of the past where you load the challenge for 30-40 seconds and drive 10 seconds. Only to get a random and mostly useless car i won't drive in the end. But ok it was always there, and i kinda like it if the loading would not put me off every time. The most annoying thing for me is that there is no way to build a racing team for the sports mode. I can't play these races with my friends and when i want to get into a lobby i can hardly find the ones my friends opened, because there is no regular invite through PSN Invitations and the room ID's don't work either for me. Again i really like the driving which is key for a racing sim but everything else around it feels either old or is just not there (like a classic campaign, which is kinda sad but will likely be the selling point of GT7). I have a feeling GT Sports will grow over time but i don't like the thought of "GaaS" especially if i pay for an unfinished product. 2017 has not been kind in that regard and it will only get worse if there won't be a change in the near future.… Expand

    Gran Turismo is one of those titles that we've all most likely played at some point in time. I grew up playing Gran Turismo games so it has a special place in my heart.

    Recent entries into the series however haven't quite been able to live up to the earlier GT games. With GT Sport Polyphony Digital hoped that this release would signal a U-turn in their fortunes. With Forza 7 being a    Gran Turismo is one of those titles that we've all most likely played at some point in time. I grew up playing Gran Turismo games so it has a special place in my heart.

    Recent entries into the series however haven't quite been able to live up to the earlier GT games.

    With GT Sport Polyphony Digital hoped that this release would signal a U-turn in their fortunes. With Forza 7 being a disappointment I was ready to be convinced that the Real Driving Sim was worthy of that self proclaimed title once more. So has it capitalised on Forzas sub par effort? In short no.

    Despite Gran Turismo games having much longer development cycles than say Forza, GT Sport has some really glaring issues, chief among them being the complete lack of a career mode. There really is no justifying the lack of a core feature. Unless you have decent internet and no interest in a career mode then this game is not for you full stop.

    What GT Sport does offer is a Single Race, Time Trial, Drift Trial, 2 player split screen and the good old Driving School. Lke previous games the driving school sets you timed challenges and you are rewarded a bronze, silver or gold trophy depending on your performance. It's a strangely addictive game mode that will see you trying to beat your friends times.

    In the online side of things you can either set up your own race lobby and open it up to the public and friends and this has been working well for me so far. I've had a good few epic races and unlike other racing games these didn't turn into demolition derbys.

    The other online option is the official race lobbies and this is where GT Sport shines. Races start every 20 minutes or so with qualifying inbetween. It's a solid game mode that punishes you if you're a douche and takes a number of attributes into account when matching you with others. Races tend to be tense and competitive but most importantly fun.

    Perhaps another area the Gran Turismo series is famous for are it's attention to detail and graphics. I'm happy to report that the cars in GT Sport are beautifully crafted with OCD type detail. Even the sounds seem to be spot on from the engine noise to the sound of the air rushing past the car as you belt along the track.

    Unfortunately the graphical masterclass doesn't extend to the tracks or landscapes. To be brutally honest the trees are laughable (far worse that Forza), and there is some dreadful pop in going on on occasion. Perhaps the worst and biggest sign of laziness is when you use your rear view mirror. Seeing the track despawn as it reaches the pathetic draw distance really is irritating and unforgivable for a game of this calibre.
    In a year where Microsoft were clearly going to focus on Graphics it's embarrassing to see this weak attempt by Polyphony.

    Fortunately there is one saving grace and that's the gameplay. The feel of the cars is near on perfect. I love how authentic the different cars feel and love how each car has weight to it. Driving your car at speed takes skill and it's fun to master. It really is the best feeling racer I've played in an awful long time although I will add that doesn't extend to rally races which feel dreadful. I just wish they hadn't done such a shoddy and half arsed job of the rest of the game. It has a nice selection of tracks and the car list is set to grow to a more meaningful amount post launch.

    A lot of reviews are marking the game down for the lack of offline content and that sure is justified, but I do feel that they've let Polyphony Digital off the hook a bit with the graphics and detail on the tracks. Yes there's an impressive Photo mode and it does look great in places but all in all I feel GT Sport leaves the series on life support. Sooner or later someone is going to pull the plug.

    Graphically it is also something to behold. I have a 4k HDR tv and it's the most beautiful game I have played on it. Hands down.

    I love the history of each manufacturer. And moments in automotive history you can learn about. It's fabulous. But this is at odds with the inability to explore each amazingly and lovingly created car... I can't explain how much I want to open up the bonet or door to look around. An implementation of forzavista style here would be great.

    I am a little confused by all of the different things you earn- credits/diving miles/character level and so on. The game does a poor job of explaining what any of this means and does and why you collect each. In fact I don't think it even does explain it.

    Then it comes to game play. The single player components are quite honestly a bit rubbish. Certainly by comparison to others in the series. This really should be considered a multiplayer game first. The car customization i found confusing - changing the colour should be simple as an example however it meant creating something entirely different which i found quite convoluted. The same goes for upgrading. It's not as it always has been and there are no clear upgrade bits for each component of the car ala others in the series.

    For me though the biggest let down is the lack of single player thought. I'm not a multiplayer person and I prefer a campaign. Without that it really spoils it for me. That and a much smaller roster of cars. With a particular focus on racing rather than road going. Car collecting has gone.

    All in all this could be an amazing game. But it really does fall short in key areas for some players like myself. And for those reasons I have scored it as I have.    … Expand

    So went from awesome single player to none...which is a issue for i do not let my son play online yet. And on top of that PD went from 1000+ cars to less than 150...in 4 years!!!???? Just a damn shame...game is worth 19.99 tops. Gonna just stick with GT6 and wait for GT 7. ...in 4 years just mindblown.

    There is no rain. This is a shock in the current technological situation.

    Anyway, I loved the new circuits, especially Lake Maggiore and Dragon Tail. I loved the addition of Interlagos. Graphically the game looks great.

    The problem is in content. Very limited content ended the game. The lack of career mode and the meager number of racetracks has impaired the game.

    I hope they do not release GT7 and feed GTS with future DLCs.    … Expand

    A tiny slice of what used to be a large pie. The refocus to online competition is nice, but not at the cost of the single player experience. Containing a limited number of cars and tracks, GT: Sport serves as a sample of the inevitable GT7, only at full retail price.

    GT Sport boasts an excellent driving model and superb car models, but primarily it’s a paramount step towards blurring the line between electronic entertainment and sport, and on a global scale. I just hope Polyphony continues working on the game until it reaches its full potential. [13/2017, p.42]

    Standard online races built on proven-by-the-years core of the Gran Turismo series. However, it suffers from an acute lack of content. In addition, if you play solo you have to avoid Sport. [Issue#280]
