It has some real navigation issues, but once you get past those, this is a title that anyone with a PSVR helmet should be checking out. After all, there's no better use for virtual reality than to peer through the eyes of a giant Golem and smash things to smithereens.

Highly recommended for those wanting to discover a unique PS VR game that pushes the promise of the tech.

Golem is a video game redemption story – saved from the brink by a patch that cleared up many of the game’s release problems. What is left is a fascinating game of exploration, punctuated by hardcore, visceral combat. With atmosphere to spare, Golem delivers a unique experience unlike any other on PSVR. Recommended for patient, thoughtful players that enjoy a challenge (and don't mind a lot of repetition).

When it comes to both its cinematic and gameplay elements, Golem manages to remain an enjoyable and engaging tale throughout.

When everything comes together, Golem has some of the best PlayStation VR combat I've played, and a story worth hearing. When it's off, even a little, frustration follows. If you can tolerate backtracking and don't mind dealing with occasional VR tech idiosyncrasies, you're gonna have a grand time.

Golem feels dated in many ways, with general VR best practices seemingly outpacing the game’s development. Everyone deals with VR slightly differently. For now, the best advice I can give you about Golem is to avoid it completely, but, if you must play, approach it with extreme caution.

Remember walking around the back yard as a kid, fighting monsters with a stick? It's that, but in a very convincing VR landscape. Combat is heart pumping and not too easy. Sound/music are AAA. Just make sure you adjust the movement settings to your comfort (after this first patch there are more options) for maximum playability.

If you have a PSVR and you like sword fighting/adventure games, I highly recommend it.
