Touted for being one of the most advanced gacha games on the market to date. The game is heavily focused on exploring and grinding items, gear and materials to level up characters. Majority of these characters can be obtained through the system known as "wishing" where most desired/popular characters are locked behind a very low success rate of less than 1%.

The story/plot revolves around a brother/sister who can cross worlds and dimensions at their whim. Depending on who you choose, the other will be trapped by an unknown god and your chosen character will be stranded on a planet, stripped of all their powers. After a timelapse cutscene you are introduced to Paimon, the most annoying character since Navi...before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you're selling it! [slams table]

Playing on PS4 has been difficult as constant connection errors, severe lag, and frame-rate drops are an issue. While the game is fairly nice looking...the game, for the most part, is barren, very uninspired and clings to all the anime tropes to convince "otakus", "Weeaboos" and those with addictive personality disorders to spend mind-numbing amounts of money (primarily aimed at wealthy (in stupidity) players who like to brag about being "whales") on a gambling system with little to no actual return.

The characters are nothing but generic anime tropes. "witch girl" "brooding and powerful dark knight" "500 year old child character" etc...most characters are easily in their teens as they all are shorter than every NPC in the game (with a very few amount of actual looking adults). Which leads me to believe it's a game aimed to sell a slot machine to young and impressionable youth.

The MC (who is easily in their teens in appearance), for being a god that travels worlds and is hundreds of years old themselves act and sound maddingly inexperienced in everything. They easily get duped by NPC's and played like a fool. They are a god! I expect them to at least try to act like they know what they are doing. voice acting, for the most part, is serviceable.

Often times dialogue does not match subtitles and at the very lease is hilarious at times. Treasure chests are placed in the most obscure places. often times on a hill where contents will roll down hills as they grow legs and laugh at you as pathetically chase it in vain. World level is pathetic attempt to conceal powercreep that will always keep your characters underpowered forcing you to level (or purchase) upgrades. It literally serves no other purpose. The only way to outpace this powercreep is to focus on one character pushing their power beyond the "world level" difficulty....temporarily. You WILL eventually fall behind the curve, maybe not in the content now but eventually. The items you get from higher world levels are basically repackaged lower level stuff with higher stats. Essentially keeping you on the hamster wheel of perpetuity.

Now I'm not saying the gacha is terrible in itself. The gacha part could be better and more inclusive of people who have a sane level of reasonable value. I think if they weren't trying to sell their used Toyota Corolla's like they are new Lamborghinis then there wouldn't be so many upset people. Doing the math you'd have to spend hundreds of dollars, something around $365 for a guaranteed 5* which may not even be the character you want. Then let's throw in the fact that you have to roll 6 of the same character just to max a character and you'd have to be on some drugs to think one character is worth a month's worth of rent for the average person.

fanboys will argue, "well you don't have to spend money." which just comes off as snobby elitism. Let's be real, these are infinitely reproducible characters that hold no intrinsic value. This argument falls in the "if you don't like it, leave" and the "if she didn't dress so sexy, she wouldn't have been raped," level of stupidity. why do videogame companies get to ignore the basic fundamentals of supply and demand of economics because of some dumb youtubers who promote the gambling aspect up the ass? You could scale costs to be more inclusive. first bundle of 10000 gems per month. $10, second $20, third $30. etc...at least give lower $ players a **** chance. They could also just put the characters for a price, 1 Diluc = $15, why is that so wrong but gambling $365 is so right? That way everyone gets to choose the way they get the character. why not let us control world level to be more inclusive of people in many skill levels? Before you start mouthing off, remember, it's a single player game and everything someone does in their world has zero impact on you. Fanboys will fanboy and when it comes to gacha games the Stockholm syndrome is strong.

The battle is interesting, especially the elemental reaction in this game. I love combining elemental reaction in a fight. The story, even though it is not the greatest story I have seen, but it is not that bad. The huge world can be a pro or a con for a player, as it would be interesting to explore the huge world, but also it is extremely exhausting to explore it.

Some people say that this game is not for F2P. I admit that we need money (and a lot of luck) to get the best characters and weapons in this game. Not to mention the resources needed to level up those characters and the weapons. But even without paying money, I still can enjoy this game a lot.

I'm AR 38 and haven't spent any money in this game. My team consists of 4 stars characters, my weapons can be forged at blacksmith, and I still can play most of the content in this game. Defeating the enemies took longer, sure, but that's all. Well, it is difficult to beat the time challenges (Abyss), but it is not a problem since even with somewhat weaker characters, I still can enjoy most of the content of the game.

However, even with all the pros I mentioned above, I still feel that the resin is bad. Like, really bad, that it makes an 8/10 game becomes a 6/10 game (or even less). I believe most people that play in console and PC will spend at least three hours or even more playing a game. Especially when they can only play in the weekends, they may spend their entire weekends playing the game. But the resin is limiting the playtime. It is not bad for mobile games, but it is not good for console and PC games. Daily commissions and killing three world bosses only take half an hour to an hour. After that, there is nothing to do.

Yes, there is nothing to do, since for someone who have finished all the quests, including the side quests and opened most of the chests in this huge world, there is really nothing to do in this game.

Like people said, the world becomes barren once you do all the quests. Exploring the world once again to look for chests is not worth it. The monsters are too weak and not challenging enough to make the games fun. Also, even though the level of the monsters increase, the rewards from them is still the same, aside of the materials for ascending characters or weapons. The experience is minuscule that you can ignore it. The mora (the currency of the game) is also like a drop of water in ocean. It is not rewarding at all grinding for monsters, so, there's nothing to do after doing all the quests besides doing daily commissions, that somehow becomes a chore rather than a fun thing to do in a game.

Want to increase your level by killing monsters? Theoretically, it's possible, you only have to kill thousands or even tens of thousands to increase your level by one. If the world is not so huge, it will be easy to kill ten thousand monsters, but in this game, because the world is huge, it took a lot of time just to go from one monster's camp to another. So, yeah, theoretically, it is possible to increase your level by grinding monsters, but practically, I don't think anyone would intentionally grind like that.

So, in my opinion, this is really not a game for console and PC. Or even if you want to play in console or PC, play it as a side-game. Or don't play it at all, as it is not designed for console and PC gamers.

Would i feel better about it if the game developer gave us a solid release schedule and prices? Yes.

I am having a huge amount of fun with this game. I went in with a highly suspicious attitude due to the free gacha format and it being a BOTW clone. At Adventure level 20, I do not see an obvious push to have to spend money to win the game. The potential is there so I am holding out until endgame for a final judgement. But I am using all the free characters and do not feel hobbled.

Things I enjoy about this game:Huge world to explore, developed lore, game rewards exploration. Things I do not like: online connection required, gacha format, timed energy stamina for opening certain chests, crafting material gated to day of the week, feeling guilty about BOTW cloneness.

Here is the why I forgive myself for the BOTW cloneness....no weapon durability! It such a relief to explore a BOTW type world without your weapon breaking every few fights.

I think I would pay full price for this game without the time gates and gacha mechanisms.

Initially I gave this game an 8 out of 10 because I thought it was overall a fun f2p open world rpg, with a cast of colorful characters and overall a simple but enjoyable combat, but the more I played the more I realized the issue with the game itself, and how I couldn't really enjoy it as much.

Now I could start with the fact that the game is greedy, which it is, but i want to be honest here: the extra characters aren't "really" required to play the game, they're only needed to play "optimally" and that's mostly it: in today's era where people like ultra optimized runs, having specific combo of characters is a wet dream coming true, but this also comes with the problem of how expensive the game becomes in this regard.

Besides characters, everything else is also tied to rolls - for the exception of experience, but more to that later - so the game actively expects you to roll and roll and roll in order to obtain
    1) Better characters
    2) Better weapons
    3) More constellation stars, which are given when you roll a double.
    4) The currency which is gotten from doubles, in which you can use to to obtain extra items.

It easily becomes a vicious cycle here: yes you are able to roll without paying but it takes a lot of time to grind the required primogems to obtain 10 rolls - and yes you WANT to do 10 rolls as it gives a guaranteed 5 star roll, which may also be a weapon too by the way - and while you can play freely and without actually paying money this can become a problem when it comes to weapons and other stats: I never paid a single dime but I struggle to find better weapons due to my lack of good rolls, and the battle pass (yes, there's even a battle pass now) really doesn't incentivize you enough, and even then you can probably get one weapon anyway. It's just a lot of money to play decently, and it can be frustrating when you try to play without and suddenly you get a block because "Oh crap I don't have any good weapons now". And while there's crafting, their weapons are subpar in comparison to rolls and battle pass.

But this is nothing, I haven't really tackled on one of the major issues of the game: the resin system. The resin system is essentially your amount of available activities you can do as it dries up the more you do them. This is nothing new to be honest, other mmorpgs do similar ways with fatigue systems and the like, heck Granblue Fantasy does the same (but better). The problem here is tied to the exp and money you are needed in order to play the game and how this can very well be a problem in the future.

Let me be straightforward: the game is not easy to level up after a certain threshold, as it doesn't require you to kill or grind enemies but to grind books, the most expensive and rare giving you 20k each plus a certain amount of mora (the money) you must spend. This can be extremely problematic later on because the price gets higher and higher, the exp required gets to millions and the money expenses get more and more and the only way to farm money after you're done with everything is to farm ley lines, which are tied to resin: this means the resin can actively hold you back if you don't grind well.
But unfortunately, there's more: after a certain levels you get (20 levels until 40, then every 10 levels) you need to do what's called an ascension, which is basically what I'd call "level break" as you need to grind some materials in-game and of course spend some mora, which is actually not a lot. The problem? You need to do certain bosses and said bosses might drop one out of, say, 2 or 3 of the items required for your ascension, but due to the resin system, this might drain your storage and force you to try again and waste more resin! You have 160 resin (up from 120) but a boss can take 40 resin! That's 4 attempts before you need to stop. Or if you pay money to recharge (or primogems, not that you want to).

It's truly a shame though because I think the game is actually nice: the story is nice enough, I like the quality behind it, there's a lot of voice acting and the characters are well designed and enjoyable, there are some really nice twists here and there that make the story very enjoyable (but nothing too mindblowing), but due to how the game plays and demands your full money it can be discouraging: I usually try to play around events because I know I can get some exp and mora boosts, so I can level up some characters. I have about 10 characters but I cannot level all of them because of the poor resin system and the lack of books (which cannot be bought with money but rolls allow you to obtain currency that you can spend on them).

Until they try to tone down some of the requirements for the leveling and upgrade system (I forgot you can also upgrade talents, which also costs mats and mora. NICE!), it's better to take it easy and maybe wait for when they nerf a little. Or just skip it entirely and move on.

I have a mix of positive and negative things to say about the game. Let's start with the positive stuff.

The world and environment look beautiful. The combat is simple yet fluid and the elemental reactions are also pretty interesting. I like the dungeons and having multiple characters with distinct gameplay to choose from. It includes co-op which looks pretty enjoyable but I haven't tried yet.

    Now, onto the negative stuff.
I know it's been mentioned plenty of times but it is obvious to anyone who has ever played Breath of the Wild for even one hour that this game is a clone of it. There are way too many things that work exactly like BotW to very specific levels. I'd be fine with using its features as inspiration but blatantly copying is not cool. While the combat is good it doesn't compare to the greats such as The Witcher, Dark Souls, Nier: Automata, etc. (Still above average though). The characters look super generic and I swear I've seen them all in cheap mass-produced fantasy anime. The lip-synch during dialogs is awful. The story isn't very interesting and the pacing is all over the place.

Overall, Genshin Impact is a good-looking BotW clone but besides its glitter, it doesn't offer much new and feels like a cheap mix of BotW and generic-looking anime characters + bad mobile game p2w features. But not everything is bad, the game is functional despite suffering from low FPS every now and then and its world and dungeons are still fun to explore. Perhaps it is too soon to rate this game yet, it might still surprise me and I might improve the rating. Time will tell. As of now, I'll consider this game a decent effort at trying to emulate Nintendo's success but not quite there yet.

The whole atmosphere of the game helps to relax, I like the idea of such a meditative exploration of the world. But all this is spoiled by terrible optimization for PS4 Pro. Constant stuttering and loadings completely spoil the experience.
Because of this, all the work of designers, artists, composer and others working for the beauty of the world goes down the drain.

I could waste our precious time discussing how this game is one of many that inspired Zelda (2017), or how it could be a great RPG singleplayer and how much better it would be without the terrible resin and gacha systems, so in order not to waste time let's discuss what this game is, not what it could be.

Mihoyo tried to bring an experience that mechanically and in his exploration of the world follow the trend of Zelda with a vast and inhospitable map where part of the fun is how to interact with the environment making use of his elemental and physical abilities, what make the map itself and organically exploring a central part of the fun and progression of the game.

The gameplay and Surprisingly fun and the exchange of characters to perform elemental interactions makes the dynamic and interesting combat the soundtrack has a estiloproprio being very hot to hear the characters and the narrative make use of various cliches of anime and Japanese games but despite of that they still try to bring something of their own personality having some interesting missions.

As for the bad part it is very obvious although you play this game alone the whole structure of its evolution is a mmorpg being necessary a lot of grind to get ahead however as your game is little affected by other players and it is not possible to do everything the content in multiplayer we ended up with the bad part of an mmorpg without the good part that is the interaction, on Paywall I don't believe it exists for a simple reason no matter how much money you spend it will only bring you more characters and weapons others resources are only obtained through the resin system that makes it impossible to farm consistently.

In short this game is only worth it because it is free however all his problems are based on the fact that he is free, I believe it is only worth playing the first 30 hours that are really fun and bring something different however if you don't like Grind or MMORPG stay away from this game you will only get frustrated for those who like the genre it certainly has problems not being the best alternative on the market however it is completely possible to have fun without putting your money Mihoyo despite making mistakes has been helpful to improve the game and follow a typical MMO update schedule with a long time between major updates but if that doesn't bother you go ahead.

Genshinimpact is a good first attempt by a studio that is still unexpected in making games for consoles and PCs but that seems to try to put some affection in their work if they manage to abandon the addictions of the mobily platform has a good potential to bring very interesting games in the future.

The game has its ups and its way downs.

Pros: -The world is large and interesting enough to explore. -The battles are fun and enemies can get quite hard if not careful. -Game rewards the use of multiple characters. -Story is interesting specially for anyone not familiar whit Honkai. -Characters have fleshed out profiles. -Its overall a enjoyable game to spend 3-4 hours playing

    Pros:

-The world is large and interesting enough to explore.
-The battles are fun and enemies can get quite hard if not careful.
-Game rewards the use of multiple characters.
-Story is interesting specially for anyone not familiar whit Honkai.
    -Characters have fleshed out profiles.
-Its overall a enjoyable game to spend 3-4 hours playing per day.

    Cons:

-The Gacha is horrible, its current rates are at 0,6 whit our 76th pull having a 20% rate to give the impression of good rates, making it actually a soft pity, whit the hard pity being the 90th pull that guarantees a 5*
-More then 50% of the current 5* characters are limited, the game keeps expanding and each update usually has 2 new 5* banners that last around 20+ days and then just poof, issue is that 5* characters who appeared in the 1st banners of the game (Venti and Klee) wont appear for most likely a whole year, which is stupid.
-Banners suck, currently the special banner gives the players a 50% chance of the 5* they get be the banner character, meaning that there is a chance to get one of the always available 5* characters, which the game then makes sure your next 5* is the banner one, issue is that you can still get 5* Weapons in the same banner, meaning that you can get 2 5* pulls and them being a 5* weapon and a perma 5* character.
    - 4* characters come at the rate of 10 pulls, meaning that usually 85% of the pulls till a 5* will be 3* weapons whit no actual proper use, as 4* and 5* weapons outclass them easely.
-Prices are a literal scam compared to how many pulls you need to do in the game, the current most expensive pack (over 100€) literally doesn't give enough Primogems to even reach 90 pulls for a guaranteed 5*, meaning that someone can quite literally waste 100€ in this game and not get a single 5* character and just a bunch of 3* weapons and a few 4* characters.
-Resin, the material used to get dungeon rewards, is caped at 160 and takes more then 15h to fully restore, making the player use 50 Primogems to replenish it by a bit, which actually makes the price rise up if the player wishes to do so again.
-Game locks characters and weapons behind either 1-2 months of saving (meaning you have to skip banners) and gives the players the are minimum in Events, creating the illusion of reward, wen whiteout events players cant even do 1 pull per day, meaning that some players cant even get 30 wishes before the banner is gone, wen the game requires us to do between 70-90 pulls 99% of the time.
-Getting the 4* characters needed will eventually become impossible because they will keep adding more and more of them, making the special banners the only reasonable way of getting the 4* characters players want, which leads to players needing to skip banners to save up for even 4* characters, its disgusting.

Overall, Genshin is a Mobile Game ported to PS4, but whit a Gacha system 10x worse then normal, the game itself is GREAT, but its monetization and economy are DISGUSTING.

How could it be fixed ?

-Lower Primogem Pack pricse by 50%.
-Lower 5* soft-pity to 40 and hard-pity to 50, making so players get 3-4 4* characters and 1 5* character every 50 wishes or get rid of the randomness and make it so we get some type of ticket to redeem the character of our choosing (4* ticket and 5* ticket).
-Make banner characters permanent, the banners give them a 50% chance , so they should just remove the 50% chance and put the character together whit all others in the normal banners so they can still be gotten for constellations.
-Switch the Character/Weapon Gacha for a non random shop and monetize cosmetics and outfits intead.

I realy like this game, I dont mind if its PVE or PVP but damn...RDR2 on my ps4 slim is smooth as butter, yet Genshin Impact barely holds up with 30 FPS in few best situations, most of the time it drops to 15,20 FPS. Would like to see stable 30 FPS soon.

A solid 10 hours of free fun thats much less stressful than BotW and has better writing, and then the pay/grind wall.

An enjoyable game, but only to a point. Where that point is depends entirely on the player, because every player copes differently with the feeling of growing boredom which comes from repetitiveness.

Essentially, you have to do the same things over and over again to grind resources, which will allow you to: a) make your characters stronger, b) continue the story as you can only progress

Essentially, you have to do the same things over and over again to grind resources, which will allow you to: a) make your characters stronger, b) continue the story as you can only progress the story after you acquire a certain Adventurer Level, c) enter additional dungeons. You can cut this time short by buying premium resources with real money.

That being said, the game is not pay-to-win. It is 100% beatable with a free-to-play account, you just have to prepare yourself for a festival of grind. So if you're not into grinding and you don't want to spend your money on it, I would take a pass.

This game is a 10/10. One of the best games ever. HOWEVER, the gacha mechanic is extremely expensive and the devs must be crazy greedy to think that in game characters should be worth $100s of dollars in wishes. For people who suffer from ADHD or have a history of addiction, I would not recommend this game.

Not much to say, I like it and I'm not a weeb.

I do see a lot of dungeon crawler-Zelda DNA involved and it is fun when I do play it.

I will criticize that it has very mobile gaming marketplace to gamble characters/gear (Gacha) it is largely out of date design for western audiences, BUT still a very valid and popular form of monetization for Asia.

Nice graphics, nice characters, super cute items, and a character battle system, I really like. So what could go wrong? Well first of all , the story is uninspiring. The stamina of my characters is downright pathetic, making them unable to run for a couple of seconds. Knowing that the world map is soo huge, it is discouraging not being able to run. Knowing that the world map is soo huge, it is discouraging not being able to run. The item/coin/payment system is too much to handle for me, I must admit. I really love the draft animation and whenever you draw a character, you are really happy, but the shortness of breath really takes the fun of it. Next time, probably make it more playable and add a cool story and I will be a paying customer, I promise. Says a lot when a cool game doesn’t make me wanna payin. Expand

Its the most publicized and divisive game out there. Remarkably better than I imagined for a game ripping off nearly everything in Breath of the Wild. But in all honesty, besides the predatory microtransactions, progression locking and gacha elements, Genshin Impact is pretty enjoyable when it comes to good old MMO style RPG mechanics and its character switching combat. Its a little rough sometimes, framerate is trash on PS4, I don't think the localization was great and the menus are god awful but its basically as average as any other time wasting mobile MMO out there on the market. You don't even need to buy into all the monetization stuff to be able to enjoy the game for a while and its free so why not give it a shot. Surprisingly relaxing time I had with it and casually accessible gameplay that didn't feel boring at all. Watch my review here for my thoughts on the game : https://youtu.be/QqGsiQ460Z8 Expand

The game is really repetitive and kinda boring. The combat is really simple and easy. The one thing I like about the game is exploring the world, but it's way to many chests and collectibles to pick up. The gancha system is awful and really greedy.

Genshin Impact is a well above average RPG to which we will dedicate many hours, but that gets lost in a monetization system typical of the gacha genre that sometimes demands too much from us. However, the free to play experience is wonderful offering us a beautiful and colorful world that can boast an absurdly good character design and a story capable of keeping us hooked.

Genshin Impact is part of a wave of titles from China that is slowly eroding the bad stereotype that Chinese devs are devoid of creativity and skill. While the initial comparisons are there, Genshin Impact does go beyond to distinguish itself…now if only the gacha rates and the free primogem are better I would have no hesitation recommending the title.

Genshin Impact might not be the most original game in a lot of respects, but it certainly has a wealth of things to offer players should they still be willing to give it a chance. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my time with it, and I plan to continue playing once future updates are implemented. The fact that it can be played for free is also quite impressive given just how much time you can invest in the game, especially with people perhaps staying at home more and being on a budget. All in all, Genshin Impact is a surprisingly solid action RPG adventure!
