While the graphics and story are okay, the gameplay was nothing special, getting boring over time, and the game itself is filled with microtransactions that ruin the overall experience. No matter if it is a free to play or not, a game should never have such abusive microtransactions.

Initially this game is decent, but after a couple of hours all the fault start to show through and the gameplay becomes pretty shallow. I've played a dozen or so gachas, and Genshin Impact is just average for the category. It doesn't have any major faults, but also doesn't stand out in any way whatsoever.

Combat is fairly boring. A majority of the enemies have invulnerability shields that need to be destroyed by using abilities from certain elements. So bullet sponges abound. Strong enemies also add in oversized explosions to their attacks, so you spend a lot of time running away. You're not really dodging at this point. It run away, and then run in briefly to attack, and then run away again. Managing stamina during a fight is pretty important, so it's very annoying that you can't toggle running on/off. You're forced to stop and pause for a moment to stop running. Did I mention that you spend a lot of time running away from enemy attacks in this game?

The gacha rate is very bad, and currency is fairly stingy. You may not need the fancy characters to complete content, but it really takes away the fun of pulling for characters when the rates are so low. Also, there are no 3* characters to get from the gacha. You just get a 3* weapon instead, which is typically converted to experience for an existing weapon. This really hurts new players and prevents them from trying out different weapon types and elements.

You're further restricted from experimenting with new characters by the world level. As you increase adventure rank, the creatures of the world level up. This keeps areas from becoming useless due to low levels, but also renders any new character you acquire as useless till you can level them up to the current standard of your team. At adventure rank 31, I need to level a character up to 50 (feeding them a bunch of materials to unlock those levels) before I can put them in a team and see how they play. This isn't a trivial matter, since all my resources right now get spent leveling my team of 4. There's not much to spare for raising a 5th.

Finally, after you've finished all of the quests, the game doesn't give you a lot of motivation to keep playing and improving your team. Normally, Gacha games have regular events to keep players engaged and logging in. The regular content updates is one of the things that makes Gacha games fun to play.

I could probably keep going on for another couple of paragraph ranting about all the various issues that this game has. The core concept of the game is nice and interesting, but they missed on a lot of the details that are needed to make the experience fun and enjoyable for the players.

    This game was my drug
    And it is
If you look at it two seconds, most of its character are girls
It's a damn manipulative game, it's crualty it shouldn't exist

Yes, the content is good, well I always hated that game anyways, I hate the gameplay even if it's an unpopular opinion, and I hate that it looks like every part of the stories are big characters promotion

This game could have do way better, but well it's a Gacha, and after having realized how down bad I was, I finally realize all of that

Don't worry for me, I have a girlfriend now and I found back my independence, and I'm not spending on gacha anymore

Just, don't play this game if you're young, or don't let your teens play it

    Never. Let. Them. Play it.
Do it for me please, I don't want to see anyone else doing the same mistakes than I did, ever again

If Fortnite is a money and addictive trap for kids, Genshin Impact is the Fortnite for teenagers

(I put 4 because otherwise the music and everything else is a good, so ig as an rpg this game's not that bad, even if it can be dangerous for weak minded people like me)

However, once you get the past all the current content there is nothing to do to level up your Adventure Rank once you are around Rank 30. It becomes more of daily commissions, achievement hunting, chest hunting, resource management and domain/boss grinding just to level up your Adventure Rank, Characters and their Weapons. Characters:
It is really expensive to level up characters throughout the game. All the free stuff you get from playing the game goes down the drain to level up. It is so bad to where it’s recommended that 2-3 characters are to be focused and even then there’s a struggle to get them fully maxed out. Meanwhile you gain more characters they end up sitting either at a low level unable to be used except just for a quick ability here and there.

    Resin:
This system is so time gated and completely horrible to where a huge majority of the players have already spoken out about this issue and the only thing that has been done so far will be in a future update where the resin cap is increased from 120 to 160. This does not fix the issue what so ever and just makes players wait even longer for their resin to fully replenish. This system makes it really hard for players to enjoy the game and for YouTubers and Twitch streamers to do their job.

    Events and rewards:
Upon the release of Genshin Impact there were codes for free primogems that you enter in to get them. With all the codes released that’s a total of 300 Primogems as of now which PS4 missed out on due to the fact they can not claim any of the codes. There has also been a few events already. They have had some login events here, an co op event, an box event and currently an invitation event. From the login events the rewards were okay. Normally with login events the more days you unlock the rewards are supposed to be better. Day 7 gave you 200 primogems which is only enough to roll one time. The Elemental Crucible co op event was not enjoyable at all. You team up with 3 other players and fight waves of enemies while collecting cubes and depositing them. This was an event where the players just keep going over and over until they are completely done and never touch the event again. The event was poorly optimized and had issues with players glitching out to where they show up running in place for the other players and were also unable to pickup or deposit cubes. The box event was a daily event where you collect rewards from a Liyue merchant somewhere in the world. Recently an giveaway event started within the Official Genshin Server on Discord. With the rewards being an IPhone 12 Pro Max 256 GB to 1 lucky winner, 5000 winners for Blessings of the Welkin moon and 50 primogems to 50,000 people. The rewards again regarding their in game rewards are lack luster again. The Welkin moon pass being $5 and 50 primogems being less than you earn from your daily commissions in game. This event is for their discord server being #1 and there are people out there that can’t even participate because their discord server is full. Gacha:
In order to unlock characters that you do not obtain by unlocking in game the others are locked behind the games Gacha system. Primogems are used to roll for characters at the price of 160 Primogems for 1 roll and 1,600 Primogems for 10 rolls. Their in game pity system for 4-star characters is great. On the other hand the pity system for their 5-star characters is horrible. The wanderlust banner in game is a complete trap when it comes to rolling in that specific banner. If you are unlucky to get a 5-star in 89 rolls will get one on your 90th roll. In the Wanderlust banner this can either be a 5-star weapon you already have or don’t have or a character you already have or don’t have. It costs $200 roughly to hit the pity for a 5-star. The only banner worth rolling for 5-stars is in the rate up banners where again if you are unlucky and hit the pity it’s a 50% chance for the rate up character and based off the other 5-stars in the banner it’s a 12.5% chance for those. The rates are the worst in gacha history with a 0.6% for a 5-star and in the Wanderlust being a 0.3% for a character. The Developers for Genshin Impact should really take a page out of Azur Lane’s book.

This game would be great as a mobile gacha game. Problem is, it's not a mobile game, but a PC / PS4 one.
At the start, everything is cool. You get lot of stuff, you can upgrade your characters. Then, when you cleared all the quest, all you can do need "Resin" (like energy in Gacha game), and can do nothing after 30 minutes per day.
This need to change, or the game won't keep it's player base.

As for the talents this is a huge issue as for the games biggest flaw, its energy system, called Resin at first capacity was 120 recent update increased to 160 , you would think great but 1 resin regenerates every 8 min so to fill out 160 resin is 18 hours . which lies in the major problem each dungeon costs 20 resin to receive the rewards worst case scenario 5 min per run x6 or now x8 doesn't even equal an hour then u have to wait 18 hours for resin to fill again . Recent update they added EXP books as a PAY ONLY feature with in game premium currency that MUST be bought with real money, as furthur into the resin issue the official patch notes that i read released as i was downloading the update did not mention a new blacksmith recipe that at first glance looks identical to an existing recipe But one of the ingredients is 10 resin so i guarantee lots of people will make the mistake followed by complaints. so with XP and talents bein an issue at adventure rank 43 now my characters are way under geared to even continue the story w/o spending real money behind even bigger pay wall . There isn't a great deal to say about Genshin Impact that's on a positive note. Which is unfortunate, to say the least since a part of me really does want to like this game. And I've played a really good chunk of the game, as well as I've found myself going back to it every so often just to play a little more and make a little more progress.

But the last time I played it was when it dawned upon me that I wasn't making any progress. And that was when the realisastion sunk in that I was sucked into the lie the game has floating on the surface, hiding what was the truth beneath. And the truth is, is that this game is a gambling nightmare. After I thought back on my time playing it from the start to where I am in the game now, it all made sense and I just noticed everything that was wrong.

Thankfully, I have not spent a penny on this game. I was tempted a few times, and I mean really tempted. But I didn't because I couldn't justify wanting to spend my hard earned money on the game. But again, I wanted to so badly.

First, let us talk about the good points of the game Genshin Impact.

It's visually a very beautiful game. There's a reason why people have been calling it the cousin to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and it's clear to see from the moment the game first loads up why. The art style is on the exact same level os BotW. Many mechanics match up as well, from being able to climb almost any surface, to the stamina bar to the ability to glide using wings that attach to your characters back. The combat is very much like BotW as well, but it has plenty of other differences that make it it's own. One of the more interesting parts of the game is that you can play as an array of different characters, which is only being added to over time as the developers are constantly making more and more to put into the game. Each one is unique and offering different combat abilities. The main character you play as, known as The Traveller, has the ability to switch elemental damage types, but the others are locked to whatever element they have from when you meet them.

You can only have four of them at a time in your active party, but being able to change them in and out to best suit what you're currently doing in the game is a handy and fun part of it. But these really are the only good parts of Genshin Impact. How the game plays in some areas, the large and growing number of different characters and the pleasing visual style.

The truth is there is more bad than good here. The game functions on the classic gambling mechanics we've seen in other games in the past that thrive on sucking the player in and getting them stuck. Be it the Fifa Ultimate Team or the NBA games with the atrocious inclusion of practically casino games in a video game that was rated okay for kids. It was what spawned the joke on YouTube that went "Really glad to see they've added a basket ball mini game in my casino simulator!" and as funny as that is, it's also sadly true.

Genshin Impact, upon playing it for the first time, you'll be swarmed with these things called wishes. One of the games premium currencies. I believe there is three in total, two of them are slightly easier to get than the third, but the wishes are the main one. You've given so many wishes just from simply doing things like completing a really easy quest. You even get given a free character in the form of Noelle, the combat maid who uses a greatsword.

But Noelle will be your first unlocked character. Others will join you over time as well, and you have so many wishes that at the very start of the game, you can choose to make multiple wishes at once which gives you a higher rater of unlocking the more rare weapons, items and characters. But these wishes soon go down. And I noticed that gradually, they started to be earned slower and slower, until it got to the point I was only able to earn so many wishes in a day. Yes, I know a game needs to make money somehow, and with Genshin Impact being a Free to Play game, I would understand them doing something to get some money.

But sadly, this game pushes it way too hard onto the players. The only way you can play Genshin Impact and actually enjoy it, is either having all the free time in the world to play it, or having a lot of money spare to buy the wishes. And even if you do play it in your free time, most of what you will be doing will be the same thing. Every day as they're limited to once per day, it's the same challenges for the same wishes, and it quickly becomes a soul sucking grind. But many people will have to do it to unlock those characters they want. Until they give up and decide to pain the money for the wishes instead. The fact that you're also level locked from story progression, and having more characters help you get more experience is another strong arm the game does.

    This is Genshin Impact.

It looks pretty and runs beautifully on the PS5.

But it's not a good game. It's a gamblers nightmare.

For all that I spent in the game, which is more than half a year, having 56 adventure rank. The game stands at a dead point and does not move. Starting in the summer of 2021, the developers, and just the mihuya team, did not give a **** about the players and their project. A large amount of money, as usual, ruined a good project at the beginning. Now the game is not developing. The book of adventurers, where tasks were given out for the fulfillment of certain goals, and sometimes even twists for gacha - has not been updated for more than 5 months, or you will understand it yourself.
there are no challenges. run farm in an empty world where even the chests are not updated. It's a terrible system. A similar terrible system in tar, the currency for which you get loot for killing bosses. Do not say that it will take you to kill 4 mini bosses a day, and then wait for the next day to repeat the process again - do you want to kill a lot? the donation button, the party is waiting.
A terrible anniversary is a spit in the face of the players who supported the game for a year.
Zero activity in communication with the community. No, to make a department for communication with players - nobody gives a ****
I hope for the release of an alternative project that will **** genshin

Genshin Impact is a well above average RPG to which we will dedicate many hours, but that gets lost in a monetization system typical of the gacha genre that sometimes demands too much from us. However, the free to play experience is wonderful offering us a beautiful and colorful world that can boast an absurdly good character design and a story capable of keeping us hooked.

Genshin Impact is part of a wave of titles from China that is slowly eroding the bad stereotype that Chinese devs are devoid of creativity and skill. While the initial comparisons are there, Genshin Impact does go beyond to distinguish itself…now if only the gacha rates and the free primogem are better I would have no hesitation recommending the title.

Genshin Impact might not be the most original game in a lot of respects, but it certainly has a wealth of things to offer players should they still be willing to give it a chance. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my time with it, and I plan to continue playing once future updates are implemented. The fact that it can be played for free is also quite impressive given just how much time you can invest in the game, especially with people perhaps staying at home more and being on a budget. All in all, Genshin Impact is a surprisingly solid action RPG adventure!
