The reality is that if Blizzard were to have released an expansion like this it'd have been destroyed by the gaming media and playerbase. Expand

Although the game in general is amazing in itself and the true future of what MMO's should try to achieve, Stormblood seems to be in the shadow of what Heavensward achieves. Although it is in itself a great expansion,it fails to understand itself. The highlight of the expansion was its middle eastern theme, if it was just souly based on this i believe the expansion would have easily surpassed heavensward. But unfortunately as it rotates between its beautiful eastern landscapes and its depressing maps, it does give the emotion that there is a real struggle in the world which is its intention, but makes the player have mixed feelings from their experience. it will go from beautiful and amazing, gorgeous scenery with a compelling story and then take you to a depressing yet barren place making you wonder how much you would have preferred just having the expansion souly focused on the middle eastern theme as that is where its main appeal is.

7/10 just because of its middle eastern theme, if the game was just focused on the middle eastern theme entirely i believe the score could have reached a 9 quite easily,as of what it is as a whole it is just simply,a little above average.

Same formula from years. Expect nothing new if you are a veteran player. Nothing has changed but the cash shop, that one gets worse and expensive.

It pains me to do this to one of my favorite games, but Stormblood was god awful.
Story was infuriatingly bad, it had one of the worst characters steal the show, no other characters get any development either so you're stuck babysititng this idiot, and on top of that most of the locations were infuriating to navigate.

The only saving grace of this expansion is that the music, as always, was good, and the content was probably some of the most fun ones, at least the Trials, to ever come out, and the Ivalice raids are magnificent, both in chaos and in difficulty.

While my time with Stormblood started off slow, once I got into Doma and met the characters there, things really took hold for me. What initially seemed like a dull liberation story quickly grew into a full-on, worldwide revolution with characters worth caring about. While the party interactions never match up to what was offered in Heavensward, the world building, villain motivations, and general sense of purpose for the heroes quickly took center stage and never let up. The build-up was worth the trip, especially the final boss, and all of it left me excited to see what's next.

Final Fantasy XIV second expansion pack, Stormblood, is a storytelling achievement, but nothing more. The game it's a showcase of the archaic scheme that governs every MMO in existence. Nevertheless, it’s a rich and vibrant world which proudly carries the name of Final Fantasy.

Stormblood is the perfect expansion for Final Fantasy XIV players who want something new and refreshing. With gorgeous visuals, new areas to explore and an immersive questline, it’s something players won’t want to miss.
