    Let me start by saying I love this game. The original version released in 1997 is a 10 for me. This version, however, is better. The graphics look cleaned up a bit. The translation is cleaned up a bit. The addition of no encounters is nice but the addition of the '3x speed' is the highlight of this release. To be able to speed the game up and grind out levels in 2 hours that wouldLet me start by saying I love this game. The original version released in 1997 is a 10 for me.     While not exactly new by any stretch, Final Fantasy VII for PS4 is a great game with minor flaws. Fixing these flaws wouldn't even make the game better, as it take away from the feeling of authenticity. Clicking on the left and right sticks add modifiers to the game to make parts easier, which is great for first-time players. One of these modifiers speeds up the game, which admittedly, canWhile not exactly new by any stretch, Final Fantasy VII for PS4 is a great game with minor flaws.     FFVII is my favorite game of all time ex aquo with Xcom UFO defense (the 1994 one).

    On ps4 it's even better because of the new "cheats" they added that let you fast forward everything at 3x / disable random encounter. When you are playing the game for the 20th time like me, you can now fast forward every long conversation to make it go like a breeze or disable encounters temporarily to    FFVII is my favorite game of all time ex aquo with Xcom UFO defense (the 1994 one).

    I was a child when I played Final Fantasy VII on PSOne for the first time. Now, about 15 years later, I have played it again. I actually remember not understanding the storyline fully -only the superficial aspects-, so playing it again has been for me a curious mix between revisiting the game and playing it for the first time.

    As far as the game itself is concerned, all I can say is that Final Fantasy VII is a masterpiece. I am sure it already was, but the fact that almost a quarter of a century goes by and the game is still so great reinforces that idea. Now we probably tend to even see some of the minor mistakes the game had as positive aspects, as nostalgia pervades us while playing and make us be less critical with the game than we perhaps were then. In any case, Final Fantasy VII is one of those unique games that you will only see once in your lifetime. I have not played all the games of the franchise, but I have played many of them and I am pretty sure this one is, at least, the one that has left a biggest mark on me.

    The storyline is incredible, maybe even underrated at times. I have heard it was confusing, but, perhaps with the exception of some specific moments, I do not think it is. The gameplay possibilities are huge and the game is quite long (leaving the cheats of this remastered version aside); it really is full of secrets and optional missions and tasks to do. And the soundtrack is simply epic, a one-of-a-kind musical work; the Cosmo Canyon theme, the Sephiroth theme... Those are masterpieces within the masterpiece.

    Finally, regarding this PS4 remastered version, I believe it is rather good; it enhances the original game -mainly graphically- for both those who want to play it normally or those who want to use the cheats to simply enjoying the story and the game in general.

    It has been a fantastic experience to play Final Fantasy VII again. I did not have doubts about his top quality, but now I have no doubts at all.    … Expand

    Reading the reviews here put a smile on my face. Apparently , we've all bought FF7 way too many times it seems XD but that's the thing. Final Fantasy 7 is just that dang good! I bought this game again too on PS4 and give it a solid 10 after all these years. It truly is a classic. I also received the special PS4 theme to boot. The theme alone is HIGHLY worth it if you're a Final Fantasy fan.

    One of the most important game of my life. One of the best soundtrack ever made. The best rpg that you can play on ps4.

    A true masterpiece. The story, characters, world and gameplay are beyond awesome and the added features of the PS4 version make this game even better. One of the best JRPG's ever made, nothing can beat Xenoblade though.

    I'd happily buy it again and clear it for the 10th time.
    in the wait for the remake it's fun to refresh memory on the lore.

    I've bought this game so many times that I've lost count, they keeped the sountrack as it is, and i love i can play it again now, this game changed the industry 20 years ago, and keeps ppl talking abot

    the ps4 version of this game is a shoddy port that just looks really bad, the character models look great but the pre rendered backgrounds look awful and they were obviously not properly upscaled at all. this port was lazy and it shows, after the completing the opening section of the game and seeing a pre rendered cutscene from the psone stretched to fit my 40 inch TV running at 10 fps ithe ps4 version of this game is a shoddy port that just looks really bad, the character models look great but the pre rendered backgrounds look awful and they were obviously not properly upscaled at all. this port was lazy and it shows, after the completing the opening section of the game and seeing a pre rendered cutscene from the psone stretched to fit my 40 inch TV running at 10 fps i deleted the game off of my hard drive, dug out my 11 inch TV from 1999 and my psone and original copy of the game.
    dont buy this port, get final fantasy off of the playstation store for less than 10$(us) for your ps3/psp/vita. or play it classic or get the PC port because you can get some mods that really polish the game up and make a diamond shine even brighter.    … Expand

    After playing the "Remake" I was hooked with that introduction to the story, but felt quite confused with the ending. I then tried the original and I really wish they hadn't made some choices for the "Remake" because this game was amazing.

    Great game, just like the first original game, but it has some strange crashing errors, and some trophies that are buggy. The game is enjoyable still, if you can handle the crashes.

    9.0 - Great game as everyone says, and this version of the game improves a lot of the tedium of the original. The 3x speed feature is definitely my favourite addition as it make grinding more tolerable and less time consuming. I would also argue this is a crucial feature for making the game even more enjoyable as I got to experience facing Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon which require the9.0 - Great game as everyone says, and this version of the game improves a lot of the tedium of the original. The 3x speed feature is definitely my favourite addition as it make grinding more tolerable and less time consuming. I would also argue this is a crucial feature for making the game even more enjoyable as I got to experience facing Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon which require the player to be a very high level in order to have a chance to beat them. Asides from this, the game is very very detailed, with many cool side missions and main quests. Love the world, love the music, love the characters and comedic moments. Awesome.… Expand

    Even though FF7's mechanics and presentation haven't aged as well as other entries, its iconic staus is uncontested. While this is still essentially a PS1 game, it is looking its best here and it DOES make a difference. You can better appreciate the details in the backgrounds and art. And while the 3D models are very basic, it is easier to read their movements here than before.     Long adventure, anime style, good fight mechanism, exelente story, deep, and hard.

    Final Fantasy VII with improved graphics. True to the original game, nothing was removed. I really appreciated the addition of '3x speed' and 'no enemy encounters'.

    If I had to pick just one game I’ve played in my life this would be Final Fantasy 7 easily. It is the best game ever made and also Square Enix couldn’t reach that level of perfection again. It is still the biggest milestone in gaming history for around 25 years.

    Coming from Final Fantasy VII Remake, I already knew Final Fantasy VII was going to be something special, and I was right.
    The story of Final Fantasy VII is amazing and it made me even more excited for the future of the Remake.
    The gameplay is quite... enjoyable? I mean, it feels outdated and unresponsive, but it's not necessarily bad and it's definitely better than Final Fantasy IX's and Final Fantasy VIII's gameplay.
    The characters overall are really good, although I wish the optional characters (Yuffie and Vincent) had a bit more spotlight. The Remake improved upon the initial characters significantly and I hope it will improve upon Yuffie and Vincent in the next parts as well.
    The music is awesome and very iconic; I appreciated it even more as someone who played the Remake first.
    Also, the materia system is just like in the Remake and I liked it a lot.
    Lastly, the visuals - especially the character models and some aesthetic decisions - didn't age well but they're quite charming.
    Unfortunately though, there are many mandatory minigames/puzzles and most of them are either a bit frustrating or pointless. Also, just like Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VII does have some outdated elements here and there.

    Pros:
    + Compelling narrative
    + Serviceable gameplay
    + Great characters
    + Fantastic music

    Cons:
    - Minigames/puzzles
    - Outdated visuals and minor elements

    I can't say enough how much I loved this game when I was younger I went through extremes to get this game I rented it twice from the video store and then finally from a friend. The story the characters and the gameplay are just outstanding. Sephiroth remains my favorite villain In the series and Ive played most of them.     I should thank my dad for buying me this game back in 1997.

    Never played any Final Fantasy game so I went into FF7 with no clue what type of game I was playing. I sucked and kept dying to the first scorpion boss, but I persisted and finally took it down. From there this game became one of my much loved games ever. To the point that this game completely changed my outlook on life,    I should thank my dad for buying me this game back in 1997.

    worth it and glad to play this game again. so much memories and nostalgia within this seventh game in the series.
