Fallout 4 in no way deserves a 0/10. Most of the negative user score profiles have only reviewed fallout 4, it's very sad to see. This game is a mess but pretty good, 8/10.

*READ THIS* They cut a number of features that made the game unique such as degradation so the concept of finding a broken weapon or armor in a broken world which you could fix is gone. Playing as a good or bad character also did not seem to matter much. Plus the female voice acting was not good as some of the dialogue delivery felt shaky and the actor sounded a bit old for me. A shame imo. Technical issues are also very common. However this is still a vast, enjoyable experience full of content. I've spent many hours adventuring the Boston wasteland and I can't wait to go back and adventure some more. I would normally give this a lower score but I love the guys over at Bethesda who I know are hard working people so I'll give it a high score anyway. Expand

Basically. is this like Fallout 1/2? No. Is it a problem? No!

Personally I love how the story is told. It is very non-linear a you have huge amount of freedom in choosing the direction of the story that can lead to different endings. The game forces you to some difficult decisions (I had to fail many quest to be able to finish others - I love that). And the story is presented in a way, that there is no simple "Good" and "Bad". It is not evil corporation vs good guys saving the world. Each faction has its different view on the main topic. But non of these views are really evil or flawless. You are forced to compromise.
It is difficult to describe. But I really loved it, that it is not a black and white. Basically you can join one party and go defent the oposing one as a good guy. And other player may choose oposite approach and still feel like a good guy. You will save the world in way you believe it is best for it. But someone else may feel your solution is wrong and he will save the world by doing oposite. I love this :-D

I've been playing Fallout 4 for over a month now and I'm still loving every second of the game. I had really high expectations going into the game and it did not disappoint. The combat is fun and there is a lot of variety in possible play styles from stealth, to heavy weapons, to power armor, to sniping. The map is my favorite from Bethesda and probably my favorite open world map. II've been playing Fallout 4 for over a month now and I'm still loving every second of the game. As for things I didn't love, I think some menu enhancements could be implemented to make managing settlers and companions easier. And while I really like having a voiced protagonist because it adds an emotional layer to the storytelling, the dialogue options are more simple than previous entries.

I've seen some complaints online about there being a lack of content, but I don't agree with that. I've beaten it one time and spent 200 hours on that character and I know that I haven't done all the side quests and haven't discovered every location. Plus, with the multiple endings there is even more incentive to play through again. I haven't been this addicted to a game since Bloodborne which I thought would easily be my favorite game of the year, but Fallout 4 may have taken its place. Truly a great game.

The story has always been a strong point of the Fallout series, and it's no different here; immersion is done well, and the stories are deep and interesting. Voicing the main character is a nice design choice, but can be a bit jarring (although the 'sarcastic' remarks make up for this).

As with all Bethesda games, there are a few bugs; after 80+ hours I've seen some minor clipping issues, a deathclaw that disappeared for half a second, and a follower that was stuck until I moved far enough away. If I look at other games, and especially at previous Bethesda games, I am impressed with the low number of bugs!

Not to say the game is perfect but it's flaws were almost expected with the track record that Bethesda has and I can't say I'm surprised by some of the bugs and glitches.
There's a ton of good in this game that it's the reason why it gets a 10 from me. The music is some of the best I've heard from a video game period and the combat is classic Fallout. Nothing has changed in the way the game is played. The amount of content in the game is incredible and the main story is finally worth something, even if there's not a ton of substance to it. The characters are well done and the things they have you do are fairly original, especially for the setting. The crafting element is great, if maybe a bit too complicated, and the new settlement system, while nice, can be very overwhelming if you don't look up on how to properly run it. All of it combined makes a great game with a ton of stuff to do.
Now the elephant in the room: The bugs and glitches can be very bad. Fortunately (knock on wood) I haven't been affected by it as bad as I've heard some other people have been. Sure I've had the occasional freeze up, but I can easily tell when they're about to happen and I can save real quick before it happens. Others have had nothing but glitches and I'd probably give this game a red score if it had been happening to me like that too. Fortunately it hasn't and this has been the best experience I've had with a Bethesda game in a long time.
Fallout 4 is truly a masterpiece and something everyone needs to play. It's so engrossing and wonderful that it's easily the best game of the year for me. Hopefully they get the bugs fixed for the ones who are experiencing horrible slow down and crashes. As for me, I'm going back to finish up some side quests.

Cons: Western RPG. It really shouldn't be a con, but needs to be addressed from the negative reviews. It's not like they've said otherwise so it shouldn't be a surprise, and a single trailer informs you of that quickly.

PC is a bit buggy. Shouldn't be an issue since this is a PS4 review, but a number of the negative reviews are focused on PC issues.

XBox One has a noticeable stutter. Again not an issue for the PS4 version. However the PS4 has an odd slowdown when a lot of particle effects load. This maybe the main difference between the GDDR on the PS4 vs the DDR on the XBox One. GDDR has a higher bandwidth, but higher latency making it so it doesn't hit this stutter hickups probably due to texture loads, but makes it so an odd slowdown a large sample of small effects which the lower latency DDR has not issue with.

There is a game bug caused by Updating the Game, but NOT Updating the PS4. Then if you turn off Auto Save, and only use Quick Save then you could find your self Stuck in an Elevator with Vanna White. This appears to be more of a user error than anything.

    Pros:
Load times appear to be really good starting off. Since this is an open world it will probably continue to creep up over time as the world gets more and more complicated, but with quite a bit of play it hasn't become too much longer than it started off so that's a plus.

Autosave, and Quick Save do not hurt the game. It's odd to bring up, but Auto Save in the PS3 Era frequently crashed games, or caused noticeable pauses. I've had no such issue, and that's a plus.

The crafting System is a big plus, and settlement building is a big plus for me. it also lets me address the big issue of how is there so much scrap lying around after 200 years. The big cities should have already plundered most of the dead cars, but if they're not I will.

Broom collecting is no longer a complete waist of time. Since everything you pick up can be turned into scrap.

The shooting outside of VATS is improved to the point of workable. In the past the shooting was so cluncky that it was mostly pointless to shoot outside of VATS. Two shots in VATS could be a full clip out of it. It's still better to use VATS, but it no longer feels pointless.

The story is well done, but it may appeal more to adults with kids then it would with young adults who have no concept of parenthood.

    Room for Improvement:

All ingredients need a way of being instantly cached away in the workbench. There need to be a way to bulk scrap some of the needless weapons, and armor. There should also be a delineation between junk that is always junk, and junk that has uses other than junk.

The character creator is one of the best from any game that I have played. The story is intriguing. I cannot think of one bad thing to say about this game.

Your character is the only survivor of Vault 111, in Boston (called "the Commonwealth"), after a nuclear holocaust. The new character creator is very powerful and very fun to use. This is one game that, when you picture in your mind what you would like your character to look like, you can actually make it. Even if you are not happy with your design, there are a few opportunities to change it before you get into the main game, and you can get facial reconstruction surgery at any point you like.

The gameplay is comparable to any purely FPS game, and is actually a lot more fun. The crafting system is literally the best crafting system from any game, and using a workshop to build settlements can be considered a game in itself. You can literally spend hours building whatever you like. There are endless possibilities.

The game soundtrack is amongst my favourites. It is tense, powerful and captivating. Even the soundtrack playing at the main menu is beautiful. I just wish you could buy a CD of the soundtrack like you could with the first Mass Effect game.

10/10. Great game. There is always something to do, somewhere to go and something to find. You will never be bored.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've thoroughly enjoyed this game. So many hours spent wandering the wasteland, killing beasties, recruiting people and building settlements. This is my kind of game. The crafting system is also fun. I enjoy making my weapons and armor better every chance I get. Having to go out and find the resources to do so adds a nice element to the game. I played both Fallout 3 and Fallout: NV but I never really did much with the crafting in those games, but this one has me hooked.

The graphics are as expected for a game of this size and this early on in the new generation of consoles.

I hear there are bugs, but I haven't found anything game breaking, not like I did in Skyrim.

Soundtrack is pretty good. It adds to the atmosphere of the game, which is what counts.

The fights are fun. I like the gun play and the different options you have for destroying your enemies. The controls feel good as well.

The voiced main character as well as the ability to choose a name that can be used in the game by some of the NPCs when referring to you were both nice touches. It's nice to see us progressing in that regard.

Some of the random things that happen make for interesting elements in the game. Gives it a feel of a semi-living world. Just yesterday I heard this explosion, only to see a UFO plummeting from the sky. Also, running around Boston and seeing BoS gunships flying around and engaging enemies is a fun thing to see. Helps draw you into the world that Bethesda created.

Can't wait to see what DLC they come up with for this games. The previous two Fallouts I couldn't even be bothered with the DLCs, but this one I may just get them.

    Ridiculously Fun

I had very high expectations after Fallout 3 and New Vegas and Bethesda absolutely delivered. This game builds on the foundation of previous titles and ventures into new territory. Playing on PS4, the graphics are simply stunning. I read some reviews about problems with frame rates on PS4, but I haven't noticed anything. Game runs very smooth for me, no glitches, no screen tearing, no crashes after some 40+ hours. The feel of the wasteland has never been better. I wasn't surprised by the huge open world with thousands of places to discover, but I was pleasantly surprised by 2 things:

First, the combat is great. Huge step in the right direction. Especially on a higher difficulty the enemies will challenge you as they run for cover, communicate with each other, use tactics, hurl harsh language, and die with satisfying gore. In past Fallout games, combat was sort of an afterthought when building your character. Fallout 4 has an impressive FPS combat system and the VATS overhaul simply works better. I've never had more fun fighting the dangers of the wasteland. And to top it off, the power armor is fantastic in Fallout 4. From the dazzling good looks, to the fiery explosions, I think they really nailed the power armor this time around. That every piece can be customized, changed, improved and repaired with materials found out in the world is just a bonus to the power armor experience.

Second, I was very impressed with the characters. The companions have lots of depth including their own likes/dislikes which can change as the game progresses. I consider it a good sign when I start to care about their opinions of me. The dialogue system has a nice feel to it and you can simply walk away any time you want during the conversation.

The game isn't perfect though. I'm not crazy about the new leveling system and the perks, but its not horrible. Settlement building quickly becomes very demanding if you're not careful. The are some bugs with a few side quests. It can be hard to find companions after parting ways, then wasting time running around trying to find them. Should really have their own map markers with on/off toggle.

Not going to bother with a Plus/Minus column because the game overwhelmed me with how much they got right while getting just a handful of things wrong. Been playing since the release date and I still don't want to put it down which is primarily why I'm giving it a perfect score. Already excited to start another playthrough. I'm not going to focus on the microscopic amount of flaws, many of which will get fixed in the next patch anyway. And anyone still complaining about the long download time needs to relax. I don't care if it takes a week to download - it's worth it.

All in all I think the game will make veterans of previous Fallout titles very happy and it will blow the minds of unsuspecting newcomers. The game feels like Fallout. High quality, immersive, long duration, great re-playability. Games are supposed to be fun and Fallout 4 is a ridiculous amount of fun.

A lot of things to do, great atmosphere, and great characters.
The only downside is regarding performance on PS4, i hope in a patch that will fix them.

I'm somewhere in the middle of the main plot, about 25 in-game hours. What can I say:
    1. Graphics. Comparing them to Skyrim and complaining about system requirements is a **** and I call it.. The game looks much better and its options can be easily tweaked to run smoothly and look gorgeous on my 5 years-old LAPTOP with nVidia 555m. If you have even worse than that - it's only your fault.

The only minus here is to colorful sights, unlike in previous Fallout games. But maybe I just get used to Fallout 3 and New Vegas filters :)
    2. Bugs. Well, there are some. But no one is gamebreaking and overall the game is much more stable than ANY Bethesda game before it (at least staring with Fallout 3). During my 25 hours gameplay I had ONE crash-to-desktop. There is nothing to compare with the latest Witcher, which was in fact worse than Unity talking about bugs and optimization, but somehow people ignored that.
    3. The world isn't that big, but there is much to do, I also like the main plot very much, partly because I was waiting for something with "androids" for a long time :) The only minus (a BIG one) for me is that (again, unlike in recent previous Bethesda games) we are given a character with strongly pre-defined story. Not like Witcher (thanks god), but still, and you can't even choose anything except gender. I'm not interesting in having some stupid son an "saving" him, at all. But I STILL has some hope about that ;)
    4. I have no complains about gameplay mechanics and RPG system. They work, so it's enough for me. I was skeptical about new crafting (I mean building of settlements), but in fact I liked it!
RPG OTY. Maybe would give it a 9, but it seems some fanboys of either Witcher or older Fallout games are being unfair. Oh, well. 10 it is.

Also - I read some of the negative reviews and noticed that some people copied and pasted the same reviews over and over under different names. Just ignore them. This is exactly why critics are the best reviews to read.

There are still a few bugs in the game, but you can easily get past them, I'd hate to sound like a broken record but the textures and animations are a little outdated compared to other games on the PS4.

Fallout 4 is simply amazing, especially for someone who has never played a fallout game, i was stunned at simply how much there is to do. Don't listen to the childish trolls who are giving this low scores just because they love to hate, try this out for yourself!

Fallout 4 is IMO the best game on the PS4. I have not been this engaged since Bloodbourne. Fallout is addictive, so addictive it leads to 'I'll just look over here' moments, encouraging to 2 more hours of gameplay when you know you should be going to bed and getting up for work at 7am.

The wasteland is rich and detailed with many interesting locations to discover as well as many disturbing monsters, raiders and robots to fight. Gunplay has been improved and vats is no longer the primary way to dispatch of feral ghouls and Death Claws! Combat feels more comfortable and it is a lot easier to use weapons without the vats system. Thats not to say vats isn't necessary, because it is espesially if you want to play tactically and it really helps when facing hordes of beasts or much larger enemies.

Story is interesting and the many side quests appeal. Fallout is a dark world and many quests give you a sense of wonder as you explore the wasteland further. I enjoyed the many interactions with the rich characters you meet.

Graphically there have been improvements. Personally I love the graphics style and I'm happy that it feels familiar to Fallout 3. There have been some complaints about character models and texture pop in etc but it really didn't bother me because I was so invested in the world that I found the graphics to be fine.

The soundtrack is again awesome carrying over many of the well known Fallout 3 songs and adding a few new ones, although I would have like to have seen another hour or two of new music added since you are going to put in 100's of hours.

Another neat new addition is the build mode, you are tasked with building a town, giving it power, lights, beds, furnishings etc. It's a nice little add on that you can lose hours in.

Overall I love Fallout 4. Because I am having so much fun with the game I'm barely noticing any issues with it, yes there's the odd glitch but nothing that has ruined gameplay or caused me to reload. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and highly recommend it to any fans of the previous games and new players too.

    - Not a spoiler; but the game only has one ending and regardless of which side you pick, you pretty much get that ending. I think multiple endings specific to the faction you choose had to be worked into the game. OK 'war never changes', but come on..
    - Graphics aren't very good, any goes only a minor distance from Fallout 3. This isn't such a big deal since the story is good, but game graphics are behind the current standard.
    - Not very replayable given that all paths lead to the same ending.

However I feel obliged to give the 10 score in hopes of bumping the 6.3 to the middle 8's where this game belongs. It's a solid AAA offering, well crafted, and very fun. There is other small things like this that I did not like as much but never the less, im only 4 hours into it and iv already got a huge smile on my face and thats what Fallout is about. Fallout 4 in my opinion has this smooth fluidity that mad Skyrim so special to me: forget about the game, get into the world.

I think the only way to be dissatisfied with this game is to expect a game that wouldn't bring anything new to the Fallout franchise. Although I miss certain things or a certain feeling from the previous games, Bethesda really blew me away with this one, and I think it's the point in the end: play an extraordinary game that you will enjoy.

In terms of the game, some choices were made that made it better, some choices may not be too great, but as a game? It's incredible for what sixty dollars can buy you. People are satisfied spending sixty bucks EVERY year for Call of Duty or sports games which is the SAME. EXACT. THING. EVERY. Did Halo 5 falling short upset people that now they have to knock down a titan to make it seem balanced? Users shouldn't be allowed to review a game. How is this game a 0? 0 is non-functional. I'm pretty damn sure this game is functional.

The graphics are NOT ground breaking.. That's not the point. In all honesty, the character models aren't that great. they're an improvement over NV, but not next gen. The environmental graphic ARE great though, especially with the real time shaders, they make new vegas look like a joke.

As far as the speech mechanics - Yes, there's only 4 choices now. I can see 2 reasons for this: A. Full voice acting means they couldn't possibly voice all 100k choices in a game like this, or B. It's streamlined, and you actually have longer conversations now that will make you choose between the 4, 3-4 times per conversation. That's around 16-20 choices per conversation. It doesn't feel wrong to me. Also being able to mumble 'shut up' while skipping dialog is fantastic for those of us who would rather be exploring.

Now, bugs - I've played for just over 50 hours now and I've encountered 3-4 bothersome bugs (trying to skip speech causes dead air sometimes, going too fast through the intro causes nothing to happen at a certain point, in general being impatient is bad), but nothing permanent. I love all these people saying it's unplayable because of bugs. They want it to fail. But the reality is, they're few and far between but they WILL be there, there will always be bugs in every game ever. Bethesda is good about getting out bug fixes. Also - graphical glitches are NOT game breaking bugs, get the f*** over yourself.

There are framerate drops less than 1% of the time, and it's usually when loading a new area with a ton of clutter, or for a split second while in scope. again, get over it. It's barely there.

Skills have been taken out of the game, and good riddance. They felt annoying or useless. 100 in energy weapons felt the same as 50. They were more of a level hindrance than anything.

I can't see myself playing anything else for a long time.

I have never played Fallout 1 and 2, but I do have poured over 300 hours in Fallout 3 and New Vegas and I absolutely love Fallout 4, even more so than FO3 and NV.

+Better graphics and realistic character models. Because these games are so huge, it is hard to make a game with good graphics, but this one succeeds. Sure, you don't get 60FPS on consoles but who cares?
+Gun mods. There's a feeling of satisfaction to evolve your guns and see your character grow with them.
+The Power armors. Iron Man MKI simulator; enough said.
+Followers make comments on what you do and they come in many colors and sizes.
+Bugs are very rare given the game has just released. In 25 hours, my pip-boy did not appear twice only.

    Cons:
-Not knowing exactly what you'll say, even if it is rare that you will be mad against what he said.

Reading the negative reviews is like looking at autistic chimpanzees with keyboards. This game is beautifully crafted with love and care expected from Bethesda. From the moment you step into Power Armor and fight your first Deathclaw you remember how special a Bethesda game can be.

The game feels like a vastly improved version of fallout 3, with better character interaction and smoother combat. It's a FPS/RPG hybrid like FO3, but you can tell they decided to take it in a more action-oriented direction. However, statistics are still a big part of the game and you have to plan in advance which perks you want to get or you'll end up with a gimped character. If you enjoyed FO3 or FO NV, you will also enjoy this title. My biggest issue with the game thus far is some minor technical issues, but I'm sure they will be resolved with the next patch. However, I have not encountered any major technical issues or bugs and the game plays smoothly pretty much the entire time.

I advice everyone to disregard the clearly biased hateful reviews and make up their own mind. If you liked any of the 3D fallout titles, chances are you will fall in love with this latest incarnation as well.

Fantastic game with a bit better combat than Fallout 3 and Vegas, still pretty bad though.

If you can see past that and learn how to mix live combat with VATS then you have the best open world game yet. This is bigger and more handsome than any other Bethesda game, even Skyrim. You simple can not go to bed or not go to that building, because what if there is a unique weapon in there?

They say it's dumbed down and stats no longer affect convrrsation. This is wrong. People on multiple playthroughs are noticing differences in this regard. It has those stat/skill checks, it just usually doesnt give you a big text block saying "pick dis option using high int lol" So which game is dumbed down again? They say your conversation choices dont matter, but thrre are countless examples of when they do and you could even lock yoyrself out of things but being too mean. I even skipped a whole string of quests because of my high intelligence. Why go find new parts to a ship when you are smart enough to repair the old ones.

As for factions, you have four large ones that are all important to the story. You get tons of endings based on how your various truces play out, or you can take out three and have one reign supreme. Sorry but half the factions in NV had little impact on anything. Id hardly qualify random casinos as a faction..Oh, you could sell chems with the great khans? I have an entire farm I created with my own brahim where I make my own jet and make a fortune doing so. I even got a guy willing to give me nearly double what shops give. I shot up a drug deal, killed the witnesses, tossed their bodies in a river, stole the chems, broke into the place where they were made, looted it all, shot the place up, and had mister sandman visit anyone who accused me. I threw on a BoS suit, they thought I was one of them even though I was with their enemy, and infiltrated them.

The roleplaying is still here, you just gave a backstory and more defined motuves, you know, like every other rpg. Is the Witcher not an rpg because you gave to play as Geralt? Get real. My character is a smooth talking high intelligence woman, who is on the outside appears to ve doing goos, but in reality is a sarcastic asshile violent drug lord rebuilding the Commonwealth on blood and jet.

Let's talk about why I love this game. This is easily the best looking Fallout. While it doesn't compete with The Witcher in that regard, this game is certainly more fun to play. They vastly improved the gunplay, and as simeone who plays tons of shooters, it gets a thumbs up. The world is huge and there is so much to do. The most fun I gave is just wandering about finding new places. Two months later and people are still finding new things. I love the Settlement building as well.

I highly recommend this game. Ignore the ignorant haters who didnt play this and metabombed it took seconds after its release. Its a shame a few ignorant "professional reviewers" listened to that loud minority of gamers and repeated the same ignorance without checking the facts. I remember a certain "angry" reviewer who just jumped on the hate train without checking actual facts or giving a game like this enough time. Funny, but there is nothing angry about this guys reviews, he just **** a ton. I guess rather than making decent reviews some people just want to appeal to their troll fanboys.

There's a good reason why mostly everyone who is anyone plays this game religiously. It's that much fun.

In comparison to previous Fallouts people keep saying it isn't a big step up. I disagree with them, but I will admit the facial expression are a bit stiff and lip syncing is a tiny bit off. Some people dislike the aesthetics of the game because they went with a much more punchy and bright color pallet rather than just make everything poop brown and puke green like Fallout 3. I actually enjoyed the more colorful environments.

Looking at the pc specs this game is technically graphically superior to any other game out right now even if some people are saying the graphics are not very good. I honestly thought the graphics looked amazing, but I'm just putting it out there that not everybody shares my opinion and some people think games like Witcher 3 actually have better graphics. Personally, I don't think it should matter all that much because it's really about gameplay, not graphics.

Gameplay wise what Fallout 4 brings to the table over previous games is a vastly improved combat system, much better balance regarding things like stimpacks and perks, and overall more challenge on higher difficulties. Gun play feels almost exactly like Call of Duty instead of very stiff and clunky like New Vegas. You definitely will feel noticeable improvements on how guns and things handle regarding sight clarity, draw animations, sway, recoil, and smoothness adjusting aim. Movement also feels more in line with Call of Duty. Sprint is in the game and is balanced by taking away action points to use in vats, a great mechanic imo that adds more fluidity and better pacing to everything. In other words you no longer have to worry about slowly plodding from one area to the next making for less overall downtime to deal with.

What this game offers over Destiny, which probably it's main competition atm is a much more engaging story and much much more content than Destiny could ever hope to deliver. I mean in comparison I finished Destiny including all story missions, all strikes, and the two raids in about 20 hours. The story missions in the vanilla game itself you could easily get through in about 5 hours. Even if all 150 quests take a half hour each you are still talking about 75 hours of content to go through so even the most viscous haters on here would have to admit at minimum this game at least offers a lot in quantity of content even if one could make an argument about the quality of it.

Sound wise Fallout 4 offers MUCH more voice actors than previous games leading to much more variations in how npcs interact. Games like Elder Scrolls online will recycle the same voice actors. It's not like that in this game. I also enjoyed how gun sounds have much more "oomph" than Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Everything sounded like it really had impact and the blood splatter in response seemed really satisfying. Unfortunately, didn't like the music track in the game so far, but oh well.

People on here are complaining about very specific nitpicky issues with the game like for instance the facial expression/lip syncing issue, a few specific non game breaking bugs, color aestetics, and blah, blah, blah.

All I got to say is please examine the facts for yourself. I encourage anybody reading this to just look at the amount of content and all the customization and what you are getting here and then decide based on that rather than some extremely specific little thing somebody is complaining about.

I assure you this game has a lot of bang to offer for your 60 bucks and well deserves 10/10 in my very honest opinion.

The gunplay has been improved upon to where if you run out of action points shooting doesn't feel wrong and is actually quite fun. The game world itself is jam packed with things to do around every corner, space has not been wasted here. The crafting system and addition of settlements is receiving less praise than it deserves. Thie entire world truely is a sandbox for you to mold and shape to you're liking, from the story to the actual physical environments. The voice acting is much improved and the fact that your character has a voice in my opinion adds to the level of immersion. Also ignore any review on the release date, as its impossible to accurately review a game of this size in a single day so these reviews were added simply to get 'likes'.

After almost 50 hours in, Fallout 4 is one of the greatest games I have played in years. Before I explain why, I have to mention some of the negative reviews, comments and stupid comparisons.

The vast majority of the negativity is almost completely baseless – the graphics are not the best but some of the other ‘points’ I’ve read are beyond belief. Here are a few of the most common - ‘they have ruined Fallout’ – no, they haven’t. ‘Its too buggy to play’ – no it isn’t, ‘its broken’ – nope, ‘its boring’ – ridiculous, ‘it’s the worst Fallout’ – the complete opposite. Or my favourite – ‘it doesn’t make the same impact that Fallout 3 did coming from 3’ – this is particularly ridiculous as that step up is impossible coming from last gen to current.

The game is not perfect, as I said the graphics are not the best and there are a few glitches but I’ve played through 50 odd hours and have seen very little bugs or drops in frame rates, it’s been great. The streamlining of the levelling system may not be for everyone and to be honest, maybe it has been dumbed down a little but it doesn’t really detract from the game at all. The removal of the reputation system also irked me a little and I think it should have been in there but again, it’s not a huge issue.

I also do not understand the comparisons to The Witcher 3 at all. The Witcher is a very good game but Fallout 4 excels at everything the Witcher fails at and as an RPG is streets ahead. The very fact that the Witcher forces you into a role completely dilutes the RP element of the game. Where as in Fallout, you create your own character which makes for stronger RP.
Anyway, on to the game itself.
Good – Its everything Fallout 3 was but bigger and better. Like all great games, there is absolutely tons to do and hours can be sunk into the game very easily without really doing much. The new Power Armor system I like as it increases the capability and importance of Power Armor over the previous games. Base building – a superb new feature which I personally, find highly addictive and is a good pastime in between quests. The map itself I really like, it has atmosphere and personality and the sense of exploration is amazing; there is so much to find and discover, other games pale in comparison. The new rafting system is good; finally each and every single item in the entire game world has a use and further adds to the exploration, scavenging aspect. I also like the character creator, the sculpting works well over sliders. I still think every game should just let you change your appearance from inventory but the fact that I can edit it at all is good enough. The combat is probably the best of any fallout, I always play in 3rd person and its done easier on here than Fallout 3.

Bad – Because its made on the same engine, initially it can feel a little too similar to its predecessors but its really just more of what’s good. The map, whilst filled with things to find, is smaller than Fallout 3, which to me, is still a step backwards. No ‘official’ faction joining or reputation system – like I said not a huge deal but I think it should have been in there. Companion AI is pretty sucky, any I’ve dealt with tend to be suicidal or just constantly get in your way like dogmeat. The RP element – while strong still forces the player to be a family man and some things later also seem to draw heavily toward a certain ‘good’ type of character, meaning that if you want to make an insane raider or something you can do it appearance wise, but the rest might need to be head canon.

Overall this is a great game and the best in the Fallout series to date. The immersion and exploration make for potentially hundreds of hours of play that other games can only dream of. The wasteland of Boston is amazing and while the world map is smaller than previous games, it’s intelligently used and packed with far more locations overall. Some of the scores on Metacritic etc truly are ridiculous, if a mess like GTAV gets 10/10 then this would get 100/10, very different games of course but Fallout 4 is far better in almost every area that games should be judged on. Easy GOTY.

Cry that it's way to different then some cry it's changed and give it a 0 get out of here it's a great game that deserves no less than a 5 to start. Anyways what I think of the game so far
    Pros
+ long game play 60hours plus ( not like the order 1887 or 89 Ido t remember was to short )
+ huge area to explore and you can go into a lot more buildings than previous games
    + gun customization
+ gun game (control) it's smoother than all the past installments super smooth makes getting head shots more fun less. Clunky ( not sure why a lot of people are complaining about it being like call of duty it is a super smooth fun combat ) not sure why your mad guess you liked it when it controlled all **** idk
+ good graphics ( not blood borne)
+ great story makes you want to know what's going to happen next
+ building your own home/ city pretty cool not my thing but a cool add on I will spend some more time with this feature later for now I want to explore the wasteland but a cool addition
+ it's fall out 4 fun to play and talk about with friends and blogs on line more lore in the fallout universe love it hope the story teller makes some more u tube shows for it.
    Negs
    - has some glitches but lol Bethesda need I say more
    - load screens between areas without anything at least give us something to read or move around the screen
    - dialogue Wheel it's really bad and not many options yes/no/ good bye and sarcasm this is the worse part of the game not sure it can be fixed should of spent more time on it guys

    - all the haters saying it's like COD , it's like GTA, it's like blah blah it's like FO4 if you ask me I hope one day some developer will take all the good qualitys of all games and make one awesome **** game Just cause 3 ? Maybe nah but one day they should do that make a game with the controls of gran Turismo for cars ace combat for planes mortal Kombat for fighting All the EA sports games for any sports in the game You get the idea that would be epic I give the game a solid 8/10 but put my score at a 10 to level out all the negative reviews 0 is for a game that is unplayable 1-4 is for games that are really messed up and lack content and glitch out a lot 5 is ok if you just don't like a game that is well put together with love but you just don't agree with where the developer went with it not 0 haters and that's the Truth my nigs I will always give a honest review trust907 and buy fallout of your a fan of open world games and if you like science-fiction Postapocalypse Style I'm gonna go back to the comic book store to kill those **** zombies and learn about the movie they were filming blast some rad roaches have fun in the wasteland

I won't lie, I am a huge fan of Fallout 3 and since the announcement I've had the count-down clock on my mobile, and I've tried to realistically manage my own expectations as I did fear that they'd ruin a great franchise. So, as you can see I'm giving it a 10 and this is for numerous reasons.

If you are a hardcore Fallout 1 and 2 or Tactics fan, and FO3 was a huge disappointment for you, this is not the game for you.
The game feels like a natural progression from FO3, with most of the structure unchanged and changes that have been made have been done so to make the game more fluent, perhaps in this it's lost a little of it's tactical strategy. For instance, v.a.t.s is still used in the game, but the game no longer freezers still. This means in effect you no longer get to pause the game when in combat and assess each and every enemy and think of your way in or way out of the current scenario. Instead, the enemies continue to pursue or aim/fire at you but in slow-mo, this adds a whole heap of pressure onto your decision making and it will probably see you hip-firing like mad once your AP points are out - but is this a flaw in the game? No, not at all in my opinion. Fallout 4 is hard. Most encounters before reaching level 25 feel like stacked odds against you, and dying becomes a regular event (top tip - quicksave, a lot!)

I read a review (Guardian I think) that mentioned that FO4 feels more like Fallout 3.75 - and I get this. The world itself, although stunning and vibrant, feels like FO3. If you've not seen the comparison screenshots of say Dogmeat from PS3 to PS4, you can see the graphics have been updated 'just enough' to get away with being new gen. While the map is bigger than that in FO3, it is remarkably more vertical (!) and you will find many buildings taller than ten-penny tower, and you will find more caves deeper than FO3 vaults.

As an RPG, the levelling is a lot more straight forward and directly mixes perks with SPECIAL stats. Choosing wisely early on and pre-planning your character goes a long way. To be a jack-of-all-trades doesn't work as your damage will be to low against harder enemies. This means a lot of thought is worth putting in to your development from level 5 onwards!

    It's all about that Base:

Hell yeah. The base building option in FO4 is a great addition. It means you can build an entire town from scratch, if you've the resources. Unlike FO3, everything you pick up can become useful. To be able to scrap anything into its basic form ie wood, steel, ceramics etc; means that scavenging is far more rewarding and becomes a task to perform ritually if you are focused on developing your new town (!). 45hours in, I can honestly say at least 8 hours play was building and scavenging. I really enjoyed this, as occasionally frustrating as it is when fences etc dont snap into place, you can pick it up and remove it so easily you can end up, as I have, with a base looking as good as anything already standing in the world. It's also really fun defending the bases once the raiders come charging in. Remember though, this is totally optional and you don't have to make bases.

I do feel reading reviews on here though (ridiculous to score this game a 3 or below!) and most of the haters seem to have lost what RPG means. As a gamer who's played decades of RPGs, I find this style a joy to play as it has the right mix of action, adventure and exploration that sucks me deeply into the world Bethesda have created. I think people like the ability to freeze the game and play it almost turn-based still like a strategy game, perhaps players that don't like the frantic moments. But evading death has sometimes been the best moments in the game for me, and yes, sometimes I've taken advantage of flawed AI, but I did so in F3 also and I think it's part of using the environment to favour you.

Glitches. Glitches everywhere. One thing I did notice from my first few hours is seeing a graphical glitch is going to be part of the experience, end of. Most of the glitches I've noticed are within chats with NCPs, the most common of which is when you start talking a little to close to someone they lean in and their face disappears. No glitch in 45hrs though as prevented me completing a quest or made an enemy impossible to kill. So, I've overlooked them and just hope they patch them up for the future.

Overall, FO4 offers much the same as FO3. Don't buy if you expect a whole new game, it really isn't - but in my opinion, FO3 is one of the greatest games ever made. Had they took the model and changed it radically, people would complain and hardcore fans would cryout. Instead they built on what they do best, and have offered a potential unlimited experience in FO4. With DLC and future modding being available (and free) for PS4, this game I maybe still playing in 1000hrs+ time.

I don't say it often, but I love this game & perhaps it's nostalgia, but I missed Fallout!

Game play is fantastic, story telling is amazing, and voice protagonist adds a whole new dynamic! People have been pretty critical of graphics not meeting their expectations, but I think the game looks fantastic personally. If you're a fan of good game play and story, wrapped in hundreds of hours of content, then this is the game for you.

This is the best open-world exploration and player choice RPG ever made, period. I dare the negative reviewers to name a better option, because they can't. Witcher made great strides this year towards building a world as engrossing as Bethesdas', but they have a long way yet to go. There is a fanboy war between Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 that's quite funny. You can see a lot of review rate Fallout as 1 and Tomb raider as a 10 as the only ratings they ever made. You can see the opposite in the Tomb Raider reiviews.

Game of the Year. While the graphics could be better, this is the most realized, persistent open world of any game I have played.
The gameplay is very much like Skyrim except that it is much deeper. 40 hrs in and I have barely progressed in the main mission there is just so much to do. Haters are gonna hate, but this is an amazing game.

0 for vla score is a troll score. I give this a 10 just to counter the trolling. Realisticly its a 7.5. Great immersion , looks really nice , gunplay is a huge step up from previous entries. If you want an adventure that has no hand holding then you will love this game. Worth the wait, played 14 hours and will put hundreds more in.

Sure the graphics arent the best in the business compared to other games and RPGS of this generation (Witcher 3, Far Cry 4 etc.) but its still god damn beautiful in its own way, and it plays oh so smoothly. I only made this review because /v/ is full of idiots. It's obviously not a 4.7/10 game and it deserves a 7/10 at the very least. Because some neckbeards on a popular board want more weeb JRPGs, this game is getting flooded with shill 0/10 reviews, and that's freaking ridiculous.

Wow at the people giving this game a 0 or a 1 that's just ridiculous! I think the game is an 8.5 or a 9 but I'll give it a 10 to balance these harsh reviews. It may not be the best looking game, and it may be buggy but it's Fallout at it's core. The amount of land marks and customization is amazing and it feels limitless. Feral Ghoul ugly in many ways, but beneath its iffy exterior beats the heart of one helluva great RPG. Get past the graphics deficiency, and the sheer thrill of Fallout 4’s combat, crafting options, and exploring will hold your attention for months. [January 2015, p64]

Fallout 4 leans to the Shooting side of things. It strips down the gameplay from the actual RPG elements and offers a meta-nuclaer shooting gallery which of course keep its charm and gameplay wealth but also feels a little too friendly for the new comers. The Base builder mode is unnecessary, boring and irritating. Unfortunately, overall, there are no steps forward for this Nuclear Holocaust Behemoth of the video games industry. Only steps sideways.
