The existence of Fall Guys is a boon for those who wish to partake in the battle royale craze, but lack the dexterity and fast reflexes a shooter requires. The highs are high and the lows are low. Games flow pretty quickly and there’s definitely a playerbase for the title for now. Let’s hope Mediatonic will develop more features such as new events, the ability to create private lobbies, crossplay and make it available on platforms it didn’t launch on. If this first week is any indication, we’re in for a lot of Fall Guys this Fall, guys!

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a joy to play, fun for all levels of video game players, and will only get better from here...In a year full of big releases like The Last of Us Part 2 and games that are uniquely up my alley like Desperados 3, it’s hard to see anything beating out Fall Guys as my favorite game of 2020.

Mediatonic did a brilliant job in creating a social platform with 11 hectic events, with the classic “easy to learn, difficult to master” party gameplay. If the British studio keeps supporting the game with new content, it has the chance to become a proper classic.

Net of some small defects that can be filed without particular problems by the small development team, at present the game represents the perfect basis for a sort of platform that can be expanded in the years to come with increasingly crazy mini-games and costumes resulting from collaborations involving famous brands (in this regard there are already those who are coming forward).

Prolific server issues and slim bonus settings are holding Fall Guys back for now, but for the time being, the wobbly obstacle course battle royale forges its own path. It's easy to envision the game only getting bigger from here on out—especially considering this launch era has been declared as Season 1, battle pass and all. As a foundation, Fall Guys is an endlessly engaging one. I'll be chuckling as I fumble to finish lines for quite some time.

A collection of exciting minigames and a smattering of every colour under the rainbow makes Fall Guys a consistent delight, even if it can also be a frustrating one at times. A few quality of life annoyances aside, it sets itself apart from both the party and battle royale games that inspired it in its own ludicrously fun way. I may only have a handful of crowns to my name so far and can’t wait to get hold of more, but most importantly I’m looking forward to the excitement, yells, and laughs I’ll have on my way to them. Joining the frosty, war-torn Verdansk and the wild, looming cliffs of King’s Canyon is an ocean of pink slime that stretches as far as the eye can see. I know where I’d rather be.

The game does exactly what it promises: It's a fun and entertaining game show in a colorful look and, thanks to the small minions, a lot of good humor. The big problem - and the developers want to address this as quickly as possible - is the lack of variety. More mini-games, variations of the rounds and one or the other new modes are needed. At the moment, despite all the fun, you can't shake the feeling that you are still in the early access phase of a future multiplayer hit. But I am hopeful that new content will follow very quickly.

This is enjoyment and positivity in its purest form with a long list of events that are primed to put a smile across your face, no matter whether you're playing alone or with friends. Your family will catch you chuckling, your buddies won't forget that time you cried with laughter, and you'll do it all over again because there’s nothing else like it. Fall Guys is just the best.

But neither are enough to derail the fun Fall Guys consistently generates, with its chaotic obstacle courses and earworm soundtrack ensuring you'll be coming back for more.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a grotesque battle royale dressed as a party-game, which gives hopes to 60 poor candidates to triumph over all the others every five minutes or so. Fun, colorful and justly unfair, Mediatonic's game just need to bridge the distance with new stages and a better interface with its second season.

Fall Guys is a fun party game that wonderfully replicates TV’s silliest game shows, but replaces the boring humans with lovely bumbling egg monsters. The speed with which it catapults you through rounds means that you’ll see much of what it has to offer early on, but I always felt compelled to keep playing regardless. Hopefully, Mediatonic is able to regularly update it and keep the party going long after its launch.

There is a very promising kernel at the core of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. With some more game mode variety, some basic controller and accessibility options, and a stable player base, I could see it being a great alternative to other live-service games. It just isn’t quite there yet.
