Nov 5, 2023Ebenezer and the Invisible World is refreshing on one hand in that it manages to break the curse of awful festive games by delivering a tightly focused Metroidvania offering that boasts an attractive visual veneer. On the other however, it's also clear that Ebenezer and the Invisible World certainly doesn't break any new ground in the genre and arguably fades somewhat when compared to its more illustrious peers. Nonetheless, though far from exceptional, Ebenezer and the Invisible World still presents a perfectly entertaining genre entry all the same and a great way to celebrate the holidays.

Nov 2, 2023Ebenezer and the Invisible World charms with its hand drawn visuals and fantasy narrative. While it's well above the ordinary metroidvania in these two aspects, the same cannot be said about other features. The fights are no more than average, the world design can be discouraging with backtracking and the small fonts can be annoying. Those who like the graphic style, Victorian stories and A Christmas Carol will have a lot to appreciate here, which can compensate for the perception that the gameplay does not stand out in the genre.

Nov 2, 2023Soft locks, crashes, and bugs burden this gorgeously presented Christmas story. Until this nightmare before Christmas is patched, we'd suggest finding something else to place under your Christmas tree.
