    It's just a bad game. I loved the series and I'm still playing ufc 3 even though I own ufc 4. Hopefully ufc 5 will be different, a little bit more like the older games.

    This game was a huge let down compared to UFC 3. This game is decent at best. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this. This should have came out with half it's price tag. It looks amazing, gameplay is decent but it lacks content, and just felt rushed. It's good enough to grab at a huge discount which by now you can get often.

    The online is cool (if u play striking mode) but every single player mode is just unplayable it's basically a simulator of beat the opponent ass until his soul get out of the body and suddenly he turns in a zombie from a bad quality movie, put you in his shoulders do a super hyper mega blaster power wrestling slam, all the knockout u did (in this game u have to knock your opponent like 6The online is cool (if u play striking mode) but every single player mode is just unplayable it's basically a simulator of beat the opponent ass until his soul get out of the body and suddenly he turns in a zombie from a bad quality movie, put you in his shoulders do a super hyper mega blaster power wrestling slam, all the knockout u did (in this game u have to knock your opponent like 6 times at least before he get unconscious or the ref stop) just changed nothing know u on the ground and if u miss a single block he will put you to sleep with a random submission and the game don't consider the damage each of you has taken, if u playing with a striker against a BJJ character it's like 99% of chance that you will loose BUT it depends on the mini game cuz there's 2 different types, one is very easy other it impossible only way to escape is if u playing with Charles Oliveira and your opponent is Kimbo Slice… Expand

    Needless to say, transitioning from Xbox 360's UFC Undisputed 3 to this, there was quite a learning curve considering the controls were very different. The basics were similar but the ground game control took a full career playthrough to grasp. The game's general layout, point system, and objectives also took time to orient.

    Generally though, this is my favorite UFC game so far.     Generally though, this is my favorite UFC game so far. There are some controls and features I miss from the old game but the sheer amount of new features and improvements they've made make for a lot more interesting of an experience. The biggest improvement is the fight week simulations leading up to your fights. The career mode lets you enjoy a more realistic approach to what athletes go through by simulating injuries, time in between fight offers, and promoting your fight through various activities. These additions really make for a fun and more thought-out approach to not just your fight but your athlete's career.

    I've heard complaints about microtransactions and advertisements. Maybe these were issues at launch because as I play this in early 2023, I haven't seen any. There are options to purchase more in-game currency and cosmetics but I've never been ambushed by advertisements. I also have not experienced outrageous glitches. I've seen one or two here and there and a few frame-rate dips during some fighter cut scenes but from a technical level, I have no real complaints.

    What I would have liked to see is more "work-out" training options in the career mode instead of just sparring sessions as well as a couple of extra positions for jiu-jitsu (no butterfly guard option so far). I also would've liked to see career integration with the kumite and backyard locations if possible. I realize some realism could've been lost but hey, it's a video game.

    Overall though, it was a tough game to understand the mechanics at first but once I got a hang of it, I enjoyed it a lot and am excited to begin a new career on hard difficulty. I have no doubt other critics of the game faced compromising issues in the game's early life cycle. I also have no doubt that some players are incredibly biased against EA and unable to recognize all the fun the game can offer, especially now. Some players even admit to not even playing the game and wanting to downvote the game simply because EA is the publisher. These reviews shouldn't be acknowledged unless someone has actually given the game a fair shot.

    If there are any new players considering it, I would say give it a chance. I found it on sale for $10 and it was well worth the money.    … Expand

Зачем то убрали систему редактора приемов, они могли просто не допускать бойцов с радактироваными приемами. Сами бои стали медленными, с билдами приемов играть невозможно, боец двигается медлено, практически невозможноСерия явно деградирует. If you were playing any other sports game your character would not loose stamina after running half down a field or a stadium.     No surprises, just another trash game from ea sports. Striking feels very slow and contros are unresponsive. Ground game is absolute joke, you cant finish anyone with ground and pound because for some reason after short period of time your apponent just pull you back automatically! Its also impossible to submit somebody unless they wasted all the energy. Will think twice before buing next game.

    There is a lot of bugs/glitches in this game, kinda make me feel like if nobody tested it before releasing the game;
    - I once started a career in Hardcore mode(my best yet), I was 21-0-0(12 Subs/8 KOs/1 Dec), with Double Champ Status, I was supposed to face Blachowicz to defend the belt and the game froze when I tried to simulate to the next week, lost my first and only great career in the game in HC mode just because of that weird problem EA won't fix, very annoying!!
    - There is also alot of strange glitches when your character forze in certain position like takedowns and clinch positions and you cannot do anything to unfreeze the it, so who gotta quit or wait until the bell rings.
    - Sometimes if you don't push the buttons hard enough, your character stop mid-action too, kinda boring sometimes.

    Things they should consider to change or add in the next UFC 5 game;
    - Most part of the fighters don't fight and don't use gameplans like they actually do IRL, improve that please!!
    - CPU are actually sometimes harder to fight than the actual fights, that's kinda crazy, do something for this please!!!
    - You can't call out the Champ as soon as you signed with UFC, why?!
    - You can't learn certain moves before you get in UFC, get Ranked or even get Champion, I don't get this "logic", this is pure nonsense to me.
    - During training session, you can't do boxing only, kickboxing only or even wrestling only.
    - You can only fight in WFA or DWCS before you get in UFC, what about WEC, IFL, PrideFC, Strikeforce or TUF ? or even Yard and Kumite fights ? Would definitely add something more interesting to your background in Career mode or even to your character legacy.
    - Why you cannot get a Rematch the first guy you lose to in Amateur when you get in UFC(would be an very dope Grudge match) ?
    - Why you cannot be a Judo, TKD, Karate, Muay Thai expert, instead of only Boxing, Wrestling, kickboxing and BJJ expert in the game ?

    So many bugs that will never be fixed and so many questions that will never be anwsered...
    At this point i start to think that this game has only been made to grab some money, instead of pleasing real hardcore MMA FANS !!!    … Expand

    I'm not sure why this game gets all the hate?? This is by far the best UFC game to date, in my opinion. Moves are fluid and intuitive. It would get a 10 but it really is a boxing simulator. You can win just playing the stand up game. The learning curve comes with the wrestling and BJJ.

    No more callouts in career node All of the above is acceptably, for some, but the worst part is when you play ranked mode, you may win 15 fights in a row ,l, you will only win a very small amount of point but, on the other hand , if you loose, you will loose loads and loads of points.

    I'm ranked in division 10 and I keep beating guys above my rank but I remain in division 10 !!

    It honestly broke my heart but I deleted the game as there is no point trying to play unless you keep creating new accounts and hope that the stupid algorithm will give you some points    … Expand

    Nos jogos do UFC da THQ, por exemplo, era mais claro o foco, um simulador de MMA, com uma carreira muito bem detalhada e desafiadora, mas nesse último lançamento da EA fica entre um simulador e arcade.
    As animações saindo de pé para entrada ground and pound tiram bastante a imersão, não tem muita variação, é bem robótico e artificial.
    Os bugs são constantes e as vezes impedem a luta de acontecer.
    A luta de chão realmente é algo a se repensar, há mais de 10 anos nessas transições que além de não condizerem com a realidade, são bem chatinhas. As finalizações seguem a fórmula padrão de sempre, mas são justas e desafiadoras.
    Os modos de jogo, fora da carreira, são interessantes. O modo nocaute e trocação funcionam bem para quem não é acostumado com a luta no chão ou até não curte muito.
    A EA precisa escolher uma identidade ao jogo para sair da mediocridade, talvez se inspirar em algumas ideias de design da THQ seja o caminho. E por isso até recomendaria jogar as versões da EA play ou pegar bem baratinho, porque pode ser uma experiência bem frustrante.    … Expand

    Another trash EA game. Unbalanced. Full of glitches and cheaters. They make not exploiting their lack of coding skills almost impossible to play the game. Got a 1 because I like UFC. They failed at everything else.

Good thing I didn't pay anything for this game and I'm not ever going to buy EA sports games after last FIFA I bought. UFC 4 sort of looks ok but for me broken takedown defense they refuse to fix is ruining the game. AI warps double-leg takedowns soEA should give up the license practically to anyone who can code games because they don't care about the players after they get their money. I don't need to go into details, just trust me, it is a typical EA rushed rollout moneyt grab. UFC is 10x a better game with better fluidity, ground and clinch game.     Gra się przyjemnie ale gra w trybie kariery jest bardzo krótka i oferuje de facto jedną ścieżkę rozwoju. Pozostaje jedynie gra online ale do tego trzeba gamepassa albo golda. Brakuje czegoś więcej np. możliwości założenia własnej federacji albo szkoły dla nowych zawodników.

    It's basically UFC 3 but somehow even lazier. Combat is still good. Everything else is disappointing . They did the bare minimum with the career mode. The story is barely there . Half baked rival mechanics. Slower more grindy progression. The character customization is still so boring and restrictive. Just all around a pointless entry in the series.

    Delay in punches, awful mechanics, ufc 3 had more fluid stand up, apsolut disappointment. Developers don't know that you can throw elbows on the ground. Do not buy this game. Not to mention ranked is limited to certain categories so you can't even play as your main.

    To imagine some poor bastard paid to get this, no matter the price, is beyond me. Avoid this at all costs. I already knew EA had a bad rep but they certainly live up to it here!

    It's never been more obvious that these "critics" (referring to critic score of 78 as of writing) have their heads up their arse and I wonder if they have even played the game or were just paid to promote it.    … Expand

    Never played a UFC game before and never will again. Thank god I got it on PS+ instead of paying $60 like I almost did…

    The most stiff and lifeless game I’ve ever played. Literally everything outside of the actual fights feels like it was done with bare minimum effort, and the fights themselves will cure insomnia.

However, you will notice the flaws throughout the duration of the game. Essentially this game is the skeleton of a UFC game, everything is there but everything is unpolished. The gameplay is fun but clunky, the controls are good enough but not well thought out, the career mode maintains your interest but feels soulless, the graphics are mediocre, the soundtrack is really bad, and the sound design is bland. With everything considered, I did play most of a career mode shortly after this game came out and had a decent time for close to 15 hours, and I am revisiting it for a second time and having a decent time. There are a lot of frustrating exploits and broken gameplay mechanics, but you learn to work around them when playing the AI. It’s not a great game, the necessary skeleton is there, but it’s a very lazy release. The first UFC Undisputed game on Xbox 360 was extremely innovative for the time, UFC Undisputed 2 added the complexity the first game was lacking, UFC Undisputed 3 completely refined the first two games into a perfect mix. That was the last time they tried to make a good game, the reboot that happened after produced some lazy quality games. If you’re a fan of MMA or really enjoy sports career modes, you can have some fun with this game despite its glaring flaws.… Expand

Man I spent like 2 hours making a character and throughout the whole process he wouldn’t stop bouncing around and **** and literally every two seconds he would disappear and reappear making it hard to see what I’m changing. On top of all that when I finally finished (like 2 hours later) and had all the tattoos I wanted put I get a message saying “you’ve lost connection to the server” and it literally deleted EVERYTHING I just spent all that time making. And the game isn’t even good enough for me to want to spend that time making a charcuterie again. In one night I made it all the way to my super fight. There’s nothing interesting to do before the super fight. There’s nothing interesting during the career and after the super fight you’re instantly told yo need to give up one of your belts and start over the whole process of not doing anything interesting or stay in your current weight class and still not do anything Interesting. Easily the worst UFC, ‘09 was a million times better… Expand

    The difference between the user score and all these "official" reviewers clearly shows that they all got paid for their fake reviews, shame on you as well!

    As someone who knows little to nothing about UFC, this game seems like a carbon copy of the previous entry. It's just as empty as every other EA game and while the visuals and fighting do feel quite nice, the game modes are far too bare bones and there is very little to actually do.

    Career mode gets continuously worse each year, striking feels more robotic than ever and fighters movesets don't feel their own.

    I mean every fighter can seemingly do a perfect front kick to the head...

    Overall animations don't make you feel like your in an intense fight. Previous versions had this better.

The BLOCKING SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY BROKEN, pretty much all you have to do is to spam a jab jab straight combo to break your opponents defense and then you can just kick him in the head to end the fight. If you're a fan of the sport like me, and you're used to more slow-paced fights. Then don't buy this ****
    The core gameplay is more like mortal combat than it is an actual sport... The damage system is also pretty much mortal combat, your opponent can throw anything, you counter him with a perfect hook or an overhand, but it doesn't do anything to him.. cuz why not.
    The stamina stuff is also another **** In UFC 3 for example, it was really realistic, so you couldn't throw strikes like a madman and your stamina would be gone quickly. In UFC 4 however... At least from my experience, you can kick, throw strikes, everything like in a anime fighting game, and your stamina would the same as your opponents for some reason... The ground game is really not a huge improvement also. All they added was that you can throw both hooks and straights on the ground, which makes it pain in the ass to defend against. The new submission system is also not bad, even tho I feel like it's too hard to submit someone even if they don't have any stamina left. Don't recommend it, if you really wanna buy it, then wait for a sale and get it for around 10-20 bucks. You better just watching the real sport instead.    … Expand

EA basically copied and pasted ufc 3 into ufc 4 with some updated fighters and some new mechanics and forgot to actually improve the game!     . Come on EA its not hard to make people in the crowd wear ufc merchandise. Same **** tattoos in ufc 3 with maybe 3 or 4 new ones. Why can't i use tattoos the fighters have? for god sakes the texture is in the game and would require no effort at all to make it where the player can have them. Career mode is dog **** and nothing fun, and unrealistic. You can't even choose what gym you train at. fight the same people over and over again in career. One loss is -5% on your longevity even though fighters like alister overeem has gotten ko'd 15 times and had over 60 mma fights or diego sanchez whos had multiple wars and is still fighting or cowboy cerone whos had over 50 fights and still fighting. The game has unnecessary clothing just to monetize the game which shows ea's true intentions (even though everyone already knows.)
    The story is pretty much a generic low budget nba spike lee story. A elementary schooler can make a better story. Unnecessary controls that no one asked to be switched. This game has the worst controls in any triple a ps4 game. The clinch controls make no sense and i often find myself exiting the clinch when i try to do a throw. The transitions in clinch make no sense and is nowhere to be explained in the game. Who at ea thought it would be a good idea to make takedowns and punches the same button? I wonder if they tested the game because i often find myself throwing punches when wanting to do a takedown and vice versa. The game has less content than ufc 3 which should not be excused. they even took out joe rogan, they couldve just used the same lines for ufc 3, which still is isn't acceptable but would be better than no joe rogan. Nothing about this game is enjoyable. The takedown defense is yet another downgrade and is nearly unstoppable at all times. The coaches say the same thing every fight and is very predictable. The way to improve your fighter is yet another downgrade from ufc 3.

I must say I'm quite happy I did. It's clear that a lot of work went into capturing the feeling of what it must be like to be in a real MMA match. Fights require a lot of strategy as you have to manageWhile I've never been much of a sports sim guy, as a relatively new devotee to all things mixed martial arts I decided I should probably at least TRY a UFC game at some point in my life. I must say I'm quite happy I did. It's clear that a lot of work went into capturing the feeling of what it must be like to be in a real MMA match. Fights require a lot of strategy as you have to manage your stamina across multiple rounds while fending off attacks your opponents are directing at multiple levels of your body and trying to break through their defenses with some of your own. It can be a real game of chess and the only way you're going to get a more authentic experience is to step into an octagon yourself.

    Most of my time was spent in the "Career Mode" where I created my own fighter and carved out a nice little legacy for myself in the sport's biggest promotion. Rising from an amateur scrub into a reigning, defending UFC champion proved to be a satisfying bit of fantasy wish fulfillment, especially since the time spent in-between fights in training camps leads to a believable sense of growth. As you complete sparring sessions not only do your techniques naturally become more effective as you drill them, but you're also be rewarded "Evolution Points" that can be used to upgrade various stats. It allows for a lot of flexibility in crafting your own fighting style. You can also use these camps to hype your next PPV and build friendships with or trash talk the competition to learn their special moves or establish rivalries respectively. Honestly, outside of the character customization being somewhat limited and awkward to use the only real complaint I have with this portion of the game is that it needed a more natural conclusion. After becoming a double champ and finally achieving G.O.A.T. status there's not much incentive to keep playing, and if you do decide to burn all the way through your characters longevity all your greeted with is an anti-climactic box of text that basically just says "yeah, you retired."

    Multiplayer offers a healthy amount of modes and options to customize matches. My personal favorite being Knockout where wrestling and jui jitsu is eliminated, both players are given a health bar like in a traditional fighting game, and every round ends in a finish. Going online is also where you'll find the real test of your skills as things like the new grappling assist system that simplifies the controls are practically useless when faced with living, breathing competition. Plus, the huge roster of past and present UFC stars, each with their own stats and abilities that are constantly being adjusted through a live ranking/rating system being controlled by none other than legendary hall of famer Daniel Cormier himself means the balance is constantly shifting in meaningful, exciting ways.

    The overall presentation of the game is kind of a mixed bag. As cool as it is to have the actual Bruce Buffer, DC, and Jon Anik lend their voices to the commentary and announcements helping sell the feeling of being in the UFC, the amount of repeated dialog means the novelty wears off pretty fast. Same goes for standing across from some of the most notable names in the sport as while the movement animations are flawless and lifelike, but the character models themselves are plastic and last gen. Particularly the crowds which are downright ugly and at times filled with too many of the same faces.

    Repetitive sound and lackluster looks aside, I thoroughly enjoyed UFC 4. The gameplay captures all of MMA's complexity and nuance without ever sacrificing the fun, which is exactly what you want from a sports simulator. Plus, as someone who has often dreamed of becoming one of the best combat athletes of all time, this provided me with a means of achieving that chimera.    … Expand

    —EA has needlessly gimped and streamlined the gameplay. Clinching is absolutely gutted and many of the transitions have been removed. Elbows on the ground are gone and so are parries. The range on hooks and elbows on the feet is extremely short, you pretty much have to be chest to chest with the opponent to land them and there is no effective way of closing the distance other than just swaying forward and praying your opponent doesn't move an inch backwards.

    There is also this **** weird 0.5-1 second delay on all your actions which makes countering almost impossible.

    —Create A Fighter has been ABSOLUTELY GUTTED. It's a complete joke now. Instead of using EA Gameface to make a very realistic and accurate version of yourself, you're now forced to pick between about 50 preset faces who all look like Orc and Goblin rejects from the last Middle-Earth game.

    You can no longer control every aspect of your fighter's stats like in previous games. You're now forced to use this garbage "Archetype" system where you're forced into picking a generic, cardboard stereotype instead of making your own fighter with their own unique strengths and weaknesses.

    —The AI is a joke. On easy and normal they're complete garbage. On Hard difficulty (and above) everyone turns into Israel Adesanya, They react to and counter any and all moves you make with absolutely insane accuracy, no matter how well you set them up. On top of that, they have a never-ending pool of stamina and will never go below your level of fatigue no matter how high their output is or how much damage they've taken.

    —The fighter stats don't make a lick of sense. It's clear that EA have never watched some of the fighters on the roster. Tyron Woodley's takedown defense and cardio is off the charts. Ben Askren's overall striking is 3x as good as it should be. GSP is ranked as 4-stars when objectively and vastly inferior fighters like Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards are ranked as 4.5 stars. These are just a few examples, there are hundreds more.

    —Customization makes absolutely no sense considering the UFC's EXTREMELY strict and stringent rules for apparel. But that could've been forgiven if this game actually had a semi-decent way of acquiring the customizations.

    ALL of these customizations like clothing, emotes and taunts are locked behind thousands of ”Gold coins” which you earn at small increments on a day to day basis by completing small challenges like ”Throw 500 strikes” or ”Win 3 fights as a Boxer-style fighter”. You earn like 200 gold a day and most cool items in the game cost upwards of 3-4000 coins EACH, Meaning you can either grind away for weeks on end to buy 1 single item or you can buy them with real money.

    There is however a leveling system in the game which gives you a very small but completely random selection of items upon reaching a new level + some gold coins but these are still not enough. I'm level 35 by now and I can only afford like 5-6 items because the reward in coins is infuriatingly low.

    —The final nail in the coffin: Career mode. It's **** garbage. It's a direct downgrade from UFC 3. The only meaningful new addition is trading insults or building friendships with other fighters on the roster but the only thing you gain from it is being able to invite them to your camp in order to learn moves from them at a lower cost, Which you will NEVER have to do as money is so easily attainable in this game.

    If you're an MMA fan or practitioner, You will be sorely disappointed. If you're just a gamer looking for a good simulation of MMA, You will also be sorely disappointed. This game is a direct downgrade in almost every aspect from UFC 3 and EA should be **** ashamed.    … Expand

    Improved Knockouts! this was a Surprise to me i never thought they would do it but they did, this came in a later update a couple of months ago which was well needed (even though i think the UFC 2 knockouts are the best of the series)
    Adding and updating fighters on a consistent enough basis
    When your in your groove or in a tough fight, thats where the game shines the most, have a back and fourth was with someone, throwing intricate combos, slipping, countering is the best part of it and you'll get that

    The Bad:
    Grappling as a whole is absolutely boring and cheesy, minor changes have been made to the god awful ground game that hasn't been changed for around 6 years, as of now, the rear naked chokes are broken and very hard to escape, AVOID GRAPPLING, PLAY STAND AND BANG IF YOU WANT THE FUN FROM THIS GAME
    EA have Focused most of their time on making Cosmetic skins, banners, badges ECT instead of the actual gameplay, take of that what you will.
    they removed the ultimate team mode that they killed in ufc 3
    Career mode is very shallow and needs your imagination to get enjoyment out of it, still very repetitive like the old EA UFC'S, minor details have changed but not the ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, only things outside of gameplay, which make zero difference and are actually a DRAG to get through like the training and media promotion

    At first during the beta of this game, i was impressed with how real the clinch looked, but now the clinch is the biggest draw back of this game by far, the clinch is a massive problem for this game, when you come up against a player who spams clinch they have tried to fix this, but it still persists as of me writing this and has made me avoid ranked mode all together, now on to ranked mode, you can only pick from 3 Weight classes an hour because nobody wants to play the heavier and lighter weight classes because of the repetitive gameplay lack of fighters in the lowest weight classes,

    Conclusion:
    this will also still be hard for new players to pick up but Alot easier than it was in UFC 3, give it a go if you like UFC or Technical Fighting stuff, you'll have some fun and learn rewarding combos, get frustrated by cheese like clinch spamming and grappling but you'll find some enjoyment through a scrappy bloody fight, Technical Striking Mind games, beating a Cocky player or a crazy knockout you got :) (This is my Favourite of the EA UFC Games, Up there with UFC 2)    … Expand

That's just a few of this games horrible flaws, if you was to sit and list them all in a review you could probably fill the 5000 character limit ten times over. Will never buy from EA again. By far the worst gaming company there has ever been which is why they're despised by pretty much everybody. Only developers I've ever heard of that actually get consistently worse and worse over time. It's honestly a shame that these guys haven't gone bankrupt because I can't think of any company that deserves it more.     This is huge downgrade from last game (UFC 3). Career mode is boring and hollow. Fighting is not fluid anymore. Online mode is terrible because of spamming. Graphics and fps are huge disappointment all together.

    This game is disappointing. I was hoping for another realistic fighting game but no, this game literally feels like mortal kombat on drugs, they removed Ultimate Team and it gets boring extremely fast. I have no clue what they were trying to achieve with this low quality game.

    Striking delay might be worse then ufc and a good amount of your strikes will just completely do nothing the A.I is awful all they do is spam and this is the most Arcadish ufc I’ve played so far

    Slight improvement of UFC 3, everything is a little bit better. Maybe some people felt cheated paying full price for this game, and I can understand that. However it is in my opinion the best so far in this franchise and I have had a lot of fun playing it. So for me it did not feel like wasted money. If you like the franchise this is a solid buy.

    Compared to past ufc games, which weren't that great, this one is terrible. I bought it, keep trying to play it, and within 10 minutes I want to shut it down. They screwed the pooch on this, but enjoy my money, dicks.

    Made an account just to tell everyone about how much i hate this game and how it’s significantly worse than ufc 3. EA changing thing just for the sake of saying they made improvements. Terrible game, even on sale at 40 dollars. You are better off getting ufc 3.

    In spite of sporadic issues with the controls and the monetization model, UFC 4 is a great fighter, even if one bases it solely on the expansive career mode. As I currently celebrate my first championship title and defending it, I wholeheartedly recommend this one, not only to fans of the sport, but to anyone looking for their next fighting game fix.
