    Ok. Let me get it started. I want to clarify that I'm not a bias consumer. I, for one enjoyed UFC 2, even though many people hated it. I hated cheesing. I hated in-game exploits to cheat the system. But I was still very successful playing online. Also, I'm going to refer as the number 3    *Those who haven't noticed, I have changed my review to a 1. You'll see why with a detailed review.*

    Ok. Let me get it started. I want to clarify that I'm not a bias consumer. I, for one enjoyed UFC 2, even though many people hated it. I hated cheesing. I hated in-game exploits to cheat the system. But I was still very successful playing online. Also, I'm going to refer as the number 3 installment as "this game" because it isn't worthy of it's name.

    But this game is by far their worst installment. My issue on the game is not only repetitive modes that this company relies on every year, but the gameplay. I am not a fan of the gameplay whatsoever. The mechanics of course will change because of the introduction of a brand new game, but making it overwhelmingly complicated for no exact reason is ridiculous. Just to uppercut you have to press 2 buttons? Just to block low you have to press the left and right trigger? JUST TO SPIN KICK YOU HAVE TO PUSH 4 BUTTONS!?!

    But whatever. Lets get to the gameplay in it's full aspects. Most people who have a problem with the stand up aspect of the game will tell you how slow the characters move. Compared to UFC 2, certain character move like a damn overloaded Tank. Other characters can feel a little smoother, but not natural. UFC 2 was able to capture the ability to use realistic swift footwork and the ability to control spacing, unlike this game.

    The countering system is another problem I have. You would think rewarding patient counter fighters would be a good thing. Of course it's just another problem. First of all, the countering system is delayed. It doesn't react on contact. On UFC 2, you were able to sway from punches and kicks with a simple system easier by holding LT with the help of the left analog stick. Not this game. EA has divided the natural swaying system into 4 variations of countering a strike. Yes, it is true you can plant your feet and sway, but it is not nearly as natural and effective as it was on the last installment. Not to mention you have to use the right analog stick. Terrible choice of mechanics. Second of all, with the new system, everyone has became this Mayweather like counter fighter who constantly ducks and sways just to counter with a hook or uppercut. Forcing everyone to do the same.

    The stamina system is a complete joke. If a player decides to constantly overwhelm you with strikes, giving you no room to fight your fight, naturally you would want to wait them out. NOOOO. Not this game. By the 1st round, the player pressing should get a slight, but not drastic change in stamina. By round 2, the player should feel the difference in the character. By round 3, there should be a noticeable stamina difference by comparison. You should easily pick them apart. By round 4, the stamina of the player should be pretty much depleted. By round 5, they shouldn't have stamina left. On this game, you are able to fight round 1 all fight long. No stamina consequences. It's a joke.

    The ground game is the same as UFC 2, but with new and slower transitions. A player who has the ability to defend transitions can keep someone on their back for as long as he/she wants to with a great grappler. Meaning, even if the player on it's back is able to defend transitions, there's no real way in escaping other then slowly transitioning. You just have to take the slow and painful punishment until the round is over, you get a reversal, or you get finished. Even if you fake transitions. Simple.

    This isn't even the root of my problem with this game, but this is already too much to swallow. If what you read still doesn't concern you by the slightest, be my guess. There's a reason why most of the user ratings from all sites and consoles have terrible scores on them. Take my word for it. This game is trash. Trash. Trash. And more trash.     Do NOT buy this game! This game is not good! Many of the positive reviews must be bots! (look at how opinion on the game is totally split but all positive reviews are up-voted disproportionately).
    Here are 5 of the games major issues:
    1. Striking is much more complex but not better. The game insists that you use its built in combos if you want to land more than one strike at a time, so    Do NOT buy this game! This game is not good! Many of the positive reviews must be bots! (look at how opinion on the game is totally split but all positive reviews are up-voted disproportionately).
    Here are 5 of the games major issues:

    1. Striking is much more complex but not better. The game insists that you use its built in combos if you want to land more than one strike at a time, so once the going gets tough all you are doing is entering button combos that catastrophically destroys any natural flow or immersive gameplay.
    Don't let people tell you to "git gud" sure it is a bit harder but it is also utterly unintuitive.
    An example of the type of inputs the game expects: 0 -> SQ + L1 + L2 -> Tri + R2.

    2. The games progression is totally broken, you go directly from fighting opponents with ratings in the mid 70s to the low 90s (I went from being totally dominant to totally helpless)

    3. Takedowns are EXACTLY THE SAME.

    4. THAT STUPID BACKTAKE FROM FULL GUARD IS STILL USED BY EVERYONE.

    5. The "learn" mini games could truly not be more imbalanced. For example, the Survive mini-game is near impossible (unless you cheese it) on the other hand you have the "Land 15 strikes" that can be done in about 15 seconds by button mashing. (there are so many more examples but I am tired of writing this)

    It's not better than UFC2. Worst fighting system, worst submission system, very slow combos. Really hate leg kicks, they are awful and have really slow animation, so anyone can block it, it's not realistic, but we play in "simulator" hahaha.

Bot blocking everything just in moment, when I use leg kick = it uses block, simply like that, but hey, isn't it a simulator? Bot can't have so ridiculous reaction even on NORMAL. I am tired of broking my legs and loosing stamina in stupid Ultimate Team.

    How to get achievement for legend difficulty? Bot on legend with 15-20 lower stats comparing to me is killing me, read every my move, blocking everything and hitting me when I am opened with non-human reaction, wtf.

    And what about not letting them to take you on the ground? Okay, R2 + R simply not working, you have about 0.3 sec window to cancel his grappling shiet.

    Developers totally screwed up. Expecially when it's been said, that the campaign is much more now than before, well, it is a lie, we can't do anything in it except of doing some things in simplified training and hurting stupid bots. Also, we only get 3-4 secs of movies in UFC Minute, WE ARE NOT PART OF IT. Very smart of you (no). In the meantime, we got another UFC soulless and heartless campaign, you can't feel anything, just stupid bots, stupid movies.

    And again, what I really hate, a stupid lootboxes in Ultimate Team, the best mod of UFC in which everyone playing right now and will play in the future. A very low amount of techniques and perks that won't last long, wtf.

For some reason they have removed free head movement in favor of a four way system that looks very unnatural, you can now block for a near unlimited amount    How it is legal to let this pile off **** hit the stores is beyond me!

For some reason they have removed free head movement in favor of a four way system that looks very unnatural, you can now block for a near unlimited amount of time which renders the stand-up a game of who can walk forward and land the most bodyshots while slipping in a few terrible looking hooks and uppercuts to the head. the animations look so unrealistic. To throw an uppercut you now have to press 2 buttons at once so half the time you throw a leg kick instead, i cant count the amount of punches i've taken due to this.
    You still cant see what fighter your opponents chooses, so as they often pick the same one as you, you have to wait for the match to start just to quit and join a new. Like Ufc 2 the game isn't skill based, but revolves much around which fighter you pick, if you're fighting someone who have half an idea what they are doing and their fighter has higher stats(especially the stamina and grappling stat) you have nothing but a lucky shot.
    Now the changes to ultimate team are by far the most disgusting, instead of just giving it the few changes needed to matchmaking and customization, they removed the option to create your own fighter so that you can unlock that opportunity through **** cases(yes i threw up a little as well) i would expect paying 120 us dollars for a game would let me have the option to create my own **** fighter, but noooo!

    This game is a massive step backwards in nearly every direction, the stand-up is far worse and the grappling is nearly the same, just with some worse transition animations. Stay far far away, this is the last time i'm buying this **** i mean WHAT THE ACTUAL **** have they been doing for 2 years!?

    I've played maybe 2 hours last night, from midnight to 2AM on the day it came out. I stopped. I knew I wanted to try to get a refund and figured "they" could see how much time was spent playing it.

    Apparently PlayStation has a policy not to refund ANY pre-order purchase no matter how much you hate your brand new game and no matter how little you've played it. They could learn a thing or    I've played maybe 2 hours last night, from midnight to 2AM on the day it came out. I stopped. I knew I wanted to try to get a refund and figured "they" could see how much time was spent playing it.

    This game is not for the casual players. Maybe people who spent hours and hours mastering the inextricably complex controls will enjoy it. If you're just looking to push play and have fun, this is not you. I can't even imagine inviting friends over for a UFC pay per view and trying to quickly teach them how to play.

    I wasted 100$ on the champions edition and I know I'll hate every minute of playing it until I give up and accept it as a sunk cost. It's too late for me but save yourselves... Don't buy this game!

    For starters the guy on the cover hasn't fought in the UFC for 16 months. Okay don't judge a book by it's cover etc. This is another re-skin with more sluggish and frustrating fighting controls. UFC and Disney need to revoke EAs licence for butchering their products.

    Oh and obligatory microtransactions alert.

    Everything is wrong about this game. Even McGregor has not fought in UFC in a long time. Even his mickey mouse fight can not be classed as bad as this game. Sluggish heavy fighters and messed up takedown and submission options make this game very frustrating. Bruce Lee dragged to to the previous games but the series does not seem to improve. Bring back Fight Night.

    This is basically rock'em sock'em robots with human avatars. You can say there is tactics to the fighting if you want to make believe there are. Your opponent will look like Rocky at the end of the first movie by the end of every fight and the few punches he does land will inexplicably cut you instantly.

    The moment where I just laughed and uninstalled the game was when I decided to try an experiment. Since basic rudimentary tactics could win every fight I decided to see how quickly I could get my opponent out of there. If you can explain how Jon Jones could land 68 significant strikes in 3 rounds and still not knock the guy out then I'll believe that this game is a realistic simulation of MMA. Unless Volkan Oezdemirs head is actually made from titanium, concrete and diamonds there is no feasible way he would remain vertical after getting roundhouse kicked and haymakered in the head 68 times. He got stunned about 4 times and almost immediately regained his composure to allow Jon to kick him in the head a few more times. After 3 rounds of devastating assault to his cranial region he simply caught Jon with an uppercut coming in and one punch KO'd him. Cue laugh track. Cue me un-installing the game.

    The old UFC games weren't perfect but they at least managed to capture the idea that if something hits you in the skull 68 times then you're likely going to lose consciousness.    … Expand

    This Review is false by a mile. this is visually the best UFC BUT gameplay wise this is the worst game on PSN. the delay is so huge it take 3 seconds to throw a strike. its so bad I recommend not wasting your time and im the biggest fan of the UFC games. I played a few games of this and threw in UFC 1, and UFC 1 was like they fixed it.     Grappling in this game still is absolutely terrible, Career mode is an improvement over UFC 2 still needs work though especially when I fought Cris Cyborg 5 times in a row as Champion I think the game registered 2 different Cris Cyborgs one at Featherweight and one at Bantamweight. The grappling needs a complete rework as well as submissions.     I was a huge fan of UFC2. Hands down the most played game on my PS4, learning the striking, grappling and foundations of the game. Striking felt crisp, and while so many reviews talk about an "improved striking system", I beg to differ.

It has been 3 months and Ultimate Team single player is still unplayable because of the AI's stamina. I just had a 3 round fight, by the end I destroyed him, which has left me no stamina whatsoever (he hadWhoever introduced the idea of throwing any strike you like while being able to move and back off was a genius! But unfortunately, that's the only good thing I can say about this game. It has been 3 months and Ultimate Team single player is still unplayable because of the AI's stamina. I just had a 3 round fight, by the end I destroyed him, which has left me no stamina whatsoever (he had MAXIMUM stamina so I couldn't KO him even though I delivered 300+!!! strikes) and he still won by decision. I had twice as many significant and regular strikes. Well I don't care about the final results it is just interesting to see, but I do care about AI not draining overall stamina.     As a fan of mixed martial arts for 13 years I am very disappointed. Incomplete and inaccurate roster. Terrible ground game. Frustrating striking system. No referee interaction (Undisputed 3 had this feature in 2012). I couldn't even get the Game Face feature to work due to an issue with my EA account (which is PERMANENTLY linked to my system) so I couldn't create a good character for theAs a fan of mixed martial arts for 13 years I am very disappointed. Incomplete and inaccurate roster. Terrible ground game. Frustrating striking system. No referee interaction (Undisputed 3 had this feature in 2012). I couldn't even get the Game Face feature to work due to an issue with my EA account (which is PERMANENTLY linked to my system) so I couldn't create a good character for the new career mode. I contacted EA Help and they told me there's no solution but they are "working on it". I don't even know why I'm surprised that EA released a broken and unfinished game. Luckily Amazon agreed to refund me. I would recommend getting this from the bargain bin in 6 months. Good job EA.… Expand

It’s a 3rd entry in the franchise and in some way it’s better than its predecessor but in others it's just another EA excuse for monetisation. If EA hoped that this title will heal some wounds from the failure of Battlefront II they were wrong. UFC 3 is the proof that EA has truly lost their crown.

    STORY

    UFC 3 story mode similar to that of 2K Games sport titles. It is about you, a new talent climbing his/her way up the sport career ladder. Yet unlike that of 2K titles it doesn’t really have much interesting narrative, or any narrative at all actually. You have to become the best. That is about it. Overall it’s disappointing.

    VISUALS & AUDIO

    Visuals of UFC 3 similar to many EA games are just stunning. Models are incredibly detailed being not far off from the original fighters. Excellent fluent animation adds to realism, making the fighters feel truly alive. Also attention to details such as sweat that appears on the fighter bodies as the fight goes on or the oozing blood from noses make it feel very realistic. All the stages look amazing are very detailed. To the point where every single member of the crowd seems to be rendered and animated separately (unlike crowd in WWE 2K18) which is backed by occasional frame drops during the entrances.

    Sound is another factor that really adds to the realism. The sound of fist hitting a face is so real it makes you glad your not in that ring, and this is true of all other fighting sounds. Background noises are also excellent. Crowd noises are accurate to size of the venues and the shouts and screams are varied enough not to feel annoying. Commentators sound like they were sitting right there commenting your match live and addition of Snoop Dogg as a commentator is also a nice touch. Music is a matter of taste, yet it fits the game quite well. The soundtrack seems to be a mix of rock and rap licensed songs, with some copyright free EA tracks thrown on top of it. Overall sound it top notch.

    GAMEPLAY & CONTENT

    Fighting in UFC 3 is split up into two phases. Stand-up Fighting and Grappling. The Stand-Up Fighting feels like it was designed by someone who truly knows fighting games. It’s responsive, quick and really satisfying. Similar to Tekken each face button corresponds to different limb, yet this time bumpers act as modifiers and triggers are used for blocking. This is very well thought through control scheme which is very intuitive and easy to pick up. This makes the grappling combat so much more unbearable. Grappling is a common practice in MMA, and similar to real UFC match, portion of your time in the octagonal ring will be set on the ground. Unlike the Stand-up Fighting though Grappling feels like it was made by someone who never played a fighting game, and whose only gaming experience is from Wii party games. Yet it's even worse than that, as those at least had a gimmick of the motion controls. Here all you do is move your right stick in one of the four direction and wait until a bar fills up. That is it. This makes it feel more like a one of the David Cage’s awkward interactive sex scenes rather than proper fighting mechanic. Its sluggish, slow and counterintuitive to quick action of the Stand-Up Fighting. What’s worse is that the already annoying process of filling up the bars, can be stopped by your opponent with a punch. Also if you move your stick just a second slower than your opponent he/she will block your move by filling up his/her bar faster. This is something that would feel much better with good old classic Quick Time Events. Another important gameplay element is the Stamina Bar which really decides if you win or lose the match. Every time you take a hit or give one, you lose some of your stamina, which then regenerates. It’s very important not to land to many punches or take too many at once, as this will decrease the size of your stamina bar, which won’t be able to increase at anytime during the match. If it gets too small you won’t be able to make more then two punches before your fighter gets tired which at this point is just a lost match.

    CONCLUSION
    UFC 3 is a bag full of vomit in a video game form. It’s a nice bag for sure but that doesn’t make the content of the bag anymore pleasant. Stand-up gameplay is fun but with necessity to also fight on the ground makes the matches just a frustration and in a fighting game it's inexcusable. It’s yet another sign that EAhas really given up making games and focuses solely on making themed gambling machines no better than Konami's Pachinko machines. Overall this game is bad and if you love UFC do not buy this game. Maybe if it won’t sell UFC will give the rights to company who is actually interested in making decent games, and for now you’d be better of playing the EA's UFC mobile game, it's the same concept just free.    … Expand

    Also, you really cant finish the fight if opponent knows how to play. Game doesnot allow you to finish. Its totally random. You can ko with 1 shot, you also can land 200 punches 8 knockdowns and oppoennt will be ok,

    New knockdowns system ruined the game. In UFC2 if you land, if you hurt opponent - he will fall and you can tko him, In ufc3 with 4 new nonsence knockdowns system your opponent will only fall and the get up. Yes you may proceed to ground, but even if its his 5 knockdowns, game doesnot undertand this in ground mechanicns, you cant rock him in the ground, he can easily hold block and recover. Does it makes sense? YOu land punches and opponent goes down to RECOVER.LOL

    Never buy this, they messed it up.

    The "options" of who you fight are still EXTREMELY linear. Training at different gyms is cool but it's all simulated. If you liked the mini games they are gone. Sparring is good to get some insight into your opponent. The social media game is kinda fun. I enjoy the fight mechanics but for some reason and I've only had one light heavy weight fighter so far.... he is slow as f*ck even with 100 on his movement/strike speed stats. So... not sure whats going on there. Ground game is basically the same but for some reason feels cleaner and more appealing to me this version.

    The game doesn't feel like I'm taking my fighter down a journey nor do I have many options. It feels less like a career mode and more like a DO THIS mode. I want choices. Go undefeated with brutal knock outs lose to an extremely higher rated rival, crush a few more opponents fight same rival who is still WAY above your pay grade and career is over?

    Started another career crushed all the way to the champ, lost crushed a few more, lost to champ second time... career over. wtf? Still lots of health left... career mode? garbage.

    EA... look at your other sports titles and build in some seriously gritty detail and epic depth to the career mode please. This shallow sh*t sucks.    … Expand

That said, this is the worst rendition to the series by far. lazy changes that actually made the game less realistic than the last release, highly disapointed with the physics and game modes of this horrible production.     UFC 3 makes good steps forward, but it does a few steps backwards too. The biggest upset in my opinion is the damage / stamina system, it's so easy to rock someone and so easy to get gassed. Another huge backward is the simplification of striking attributes. Now, kicks and punches are ruled by the sames stats of power and kicks. What the heck??? That nonsense is unanimous on the UFC official forum: nobody approved!

    Others problems are: overpowered submissions, zero improvement on customization, no real training in Career mode, overhaul of Ultimate Team probably to worse, insanely difficult to do certain moves that require press up to 5 buttons, worse Ultimate Team, troubles to find an opponent in online matches.

    So, if you ask me if UFC 3 is better than 2, I'm almost certainly that it is not. UFC 2 had poor customization, poor campaing, small number of modes, poor AI, but it was a hell of fun and had a Ultimate Team mode that kept you playing. UFC 3 doesn't go very far from UFC 2 and perhaps got worse.

    Updates can fix many big gameplay issues, but I doubt it will.    … Expand

    UFC 3 In a nut shell.
    1. Ultra unresponsive control made this a turn based combat: Massive input delay + poorly built net environment made your feel like your fighter never follow your commands, moment to moment decision making is out of question, say if you see a middle kick coming your way, you meant to guard your middle section, sorry, it’s not how this garbage game works, everything react in

    Actually, the input delay and garbage net code is so self telling, these low IQ self pro-cliamed “developers” don’t even bother to hide it anymore, you can feel the full unresponsiveness in fighter select screen without get into the fight!

    2. Advanced strike that hit your opponent’s face & body solid fail to register 30% of time, and can be cheesed by just keep walking up & down. I don’t know who decide this trash can hit the shelves with such quality & even after so many patches, imaging you are in a eSport event projected to 10000+ audience and your tonado kick land on your opponent’s face but game is not register, and result in a instant KO from a slow upper cut. This is why no eSport will take this trash seriously.

    3. Most low IQ combo system in the history of fighting game, UFC3 got the budget for a fighting sim game, but ended up with a combo system similar to MK11 & Tekken, pre-memorized combo will punish you for a move you didn’t execute, or executed 5 secs ago, at time it truly feels like the fighters are fighting by itself without your control. And most importalty, different fighter will have different command for the same move, say a knee to the body will be R2 + O for fighter x and it’s a flying knee to the head for fighter y. speechless, I can’t help but to think how much the genius who came up with this fail at life

    4. 0 Take down defense, fighter with high grappling status all have 100% none deniable take downs, some even launch across half the octagon with 0 stamina plenty or risk, extremely spamable and no vaild way to deny. Funny thing is take downs are already easy enough to success pre patch if you execute in the right time, till some cheese cry to this “brain of donkey” Geoff how they want keep spamming and that’s exactly what Geoff gave to them.

    I’d pay double of $59.99 to ban Geoff from touching another video game, for the sake of humanity.    … Expand

As a fighter with a 2-0 record in amateur (you can follow me on ig ippomma) the gameplay mechanics feel weird, they want to be sim oriented but at the same time it feels really arcady ! The animation are terrible it look lile all the fighters are Dominick Cruz and are light sparring but make their opponent fly 7 feet above the ground with aI put a 0 cause of the fakes or biased reviews. As a fighter with a 2-0 record in amateur (you can follow me on ig ippomma) the gameplay mechanics feel weird, they want to be sim oriented but at the same time it feels really arcady !     Annoying as hell to Land 50 strikes on the enemy and he wins with 8 landed strikes. After striking an enemy that lays at the bottom for 2 minutes he just stood up and ended me with a jab. Wtf ea.

    A downgrade from an already mediocre game in UFC 2. EA shows that yet again don`t really improve game play from the previous title in series to the newest one. Boring game play, more customization options, but apart from that it`s not a very impressive. Wouldn`t recommend

    In a word, appalling. Why are the options for tattoo choices only limited to generic designs and objectified images of women? Why not include designs that feature men being sexualised as well? So sexist, and so disappointing. UFC must stand for u **** c****.

    At first the ground fighting and clinch seems complicated but once you figure it out it isn't too bad either, at first. But once you get good enough to move beyond easy you realize something about the computer.

    That is they are able to do things you aren't. You lose stamina when they don't. They can block whatever transition they want, until they decide to let you go. The normal level is frustrating enough. But the high difficulty level is just stupid.

    I had a character, with max ground stats, moves maxed, all the perks to support what I was trying to do, and my opponent's stats weren't maxed, but I couldn't win. I couldn't do anything. I could initiate a submission from every potion but I couldn't finish. The computer moves before the graphics even appear on screen.

    I made an account to complain about this game. Just don't buy it. I don't think they bothered to do much play testing.    … Expand

    As good as this game could have been, as **** it is. Submissions and ground game are absolutely retarded, go against khabib and it is almost impossible to deny any transition altough The opponent is just spamming them. Meta combos are also retarded, everybody does knee-elbow or overhand-hook. I really like mma and I fell like breaking The controller when a retarded kid spams elbows and knees

And the lack of freedom with this kind of thing is absolutely ridiculous. Its a video game, let us have fun the way WE want.

    Online ranked is full of babies (im guessing by the way they spam overhands and stuff) and if you quit a fight you get minus 30 points but if someone else quits on you you only receive 2 points or something like that Its just a very broken system. I dont care about the career mode so i dont know

    Revamped career mode is extremely enjoyable this time and the game as a whole is a step forward for the franchise. UFC 3 looks amazing, as you can clearly see the effects of trading blows – injuries, blood staining the shorts, sweat trickling down the skin. What needs to be dealt with in the next installment is the ground game, which trails way behind entertaining, dynamic stand-up fighting. [04/2018, p.70]

    After turbulent end of the last year, EA managed to release a good game in UFC 3 without many scandals. The game itself is better than its predecessor, but it still lacks a way to connect with players new to this sport. New GOAT mode is a great innovation and adds a new twist to the known career mode. Fighting, even though it’s very good, still has problems, which are already annoying the players.
