Right, lets get one thing straight, this is AN ARCADE RACER!!! It's not a driving sim, it's a good old fashioned arcade racer. I got the PS+ version for £34 and it's great. If you use any view then use the interior dashboard view as it looks stunning and you get a real sense of speed. I remember when you used to buy a game, play it, and think 'Yep, I'm enjoying this'. And that's what DC club does very well. You fire it up, get in a car and drive as fast as possible. Simple as that. Yes the online bit is broken at the moment, but, that does not make it a bad game. I remember not too long ago that people were able to survive without on-line access. If you like games like Burnout, Sega Rally, Outrun (if you remember the original) and are not obsessed with car physics, adding some new springs to your breaks, adding ultra-light wheel nuts so you car is lighter and all other manner of mind numbingly boring tweaks then get DC. It's a good old balls-out racer and I think it's great. My biggest gripe is the fact that there is no replay option when you finish a race!!! For that reason I give it an 8 Expand

You basically hop in a car, race, complete challenges, progress and unlock. There is no difficulty setting, you just have to start at the bottom in the amateur races and work you way up through the pros. So it becomes harder the further you progress. This makes it a very challenging game once you start to get half way through the ranks in the single player career mode. I've been gaming since 1985 and even i'm finding the pro ranks a real challenge. The challenges are varied and appear on their own, or within races. For example, you have standard racing, time trial, drift races etc. Then you have challenges WITHIN races. For instance, during a standard race against other cars, you may have to try and get the most drift points on one specific corner, or follow and try and keep on a driving line for a short period of time during a race. It doesn't matter if you don't complete these challenges during a race, and you can totally ignore them and just try and win the race, but completing them will help boost your points and unlock more cars. And if you fail these challenges on the first lap it will allow you to attempt them again on lap 2, 3 or 4, so you get a few chances. So not only do you have the fun challenge of trying to win a race, you have the challenge of trying to complete the challenges within the race. Then there are other challenges on top of that which consist of, Place 1st, Place within the top 3, Hit a top speed, achieve a clean lap, complete a race or lap under a ceratin time and so on. It constantly challenges you, which is fun for both hardcore and casual race fans. You can even create your own challenges for others or try and take on others self made challenges. You can play solo career mode, single races, or create your own crew with friends and challenge the world to become the no1 crew. The graphics are brilliant and the whole game looks impressive. There is a lot of detail and a lot going on every track, each track feels alive. The tracks are also very varied and a lot fun. You have lap races, or sprint races. There are 6 camera angles, including one i've never seen in a racing game before which is dashboard cam. But the game is at its best in cockpit in car view. The handling is a nice mix and sits somewhere between the PGR games and Forza. Its locked at 30 FPS and feels smooth and VERY fast, especially when you reach the hyper cars like the Venom and Mclaren etc. There are also a lot of new free cars, tracks and a weather system update on the way to download too. So, if you liked old challenging racers from back in the day like the Colin Mcrae/DIRT series, or Project Gotham Racing series, then you will like Driveclub. Expand

In the first month, this game had many server issues (it was a mess), but right now everything works perfect. DriveClub is the game with the best visuals I ever seen on any Console or PC. Even better than Project Cars or Assetto Corsa. Almost real life! Truly Amazing!

I like it. It's good, but not great. For a simple, pick up and play enjoyable racing game, this is worth a look. The problem is, there are many great games recently released so your money is spent better elsewhere.

Finally, a racing game that is fun to play. Long overdue for a racing game that allows you to race from A to B nicely online. The driving mechanics aren't 100% accurate by any means, but this is a good thing. There are plenty of other games that offer a "sim" experience, and to be honest, those games ARE NOT ON CONSOLE. Console is NOT the place for Sim racing fans. This game hits on most notes beautiful, and of course is a target for hate like most gamers who chose the wrong system out of stupidity and blindness to obvious facts. Expand

It does not have vibrant and flashy colors, it's not an open world, so what? Driveclub is just awesome. Test it asap, you'll love it.

So far i am really enjoying the game. It has some of the best graphics and is easily comparable to pgr mixed with a little ridge racer. The social aspect is also a nice touch kinda reminds me of burnout paradise as far as that goes. Just don't go into it expecting gt or forza cause sim it is not, no customizing outside of paint jobs which is fine it gives you more time to race.

It kinda reminds me of the very first Burnout game or the Project Gotham Racing series. The original Burnout only had 4 cars and zero customization, it was all about the racing. It kept you coming back for that one more race. Driveclub has 50 cars and another 38 on the way. Some people complain that it doesn't have 200+ cars and lacks customization, but i'm ok with it as my favourite racing franchise Project Gotham Racing had under 100 cars and zero customization and i still play Project Gotham Racing 4 seven years on. Like the Project Gotham Racing series Driveclub has a ton of beautiful tracks across various locations. The handling is a mix between Project Gotham Racing and Forza (simcade) and easy to pick up and play. It is 1080p and locked at 30FPS which is very fast, fluid and gives you a great sense of speed. The graphics are the best around and there is a lot going on the screen. There are balloons, fireworks, confetti, plastic bags blow across the track, colourful butterflies zipping by the windscreen, birds and more. It is more alive than other racers. If you play the career races in order like i am you will find the game becomes more and more prettier as you progress through the game. The lighting effects and scenery are impressive. This game will appeal to both casual fans and hardcore racer fans who just like to pick up and race. So if you like a good solid racer, or just want to show off what your Playstation 4 can do, then give it a whirl. I'm happy with it. Expand

I've played the game since launch and, yes, it does have it's fair share of issues with it's servers, but besides those this is a very solid racing game without absolutely gorgeous graphics and silky smooth gameplay. Also, the computer AI doesn't ram you all the time like everyone says, it's not perfect, but the computer racers are decent to provide a challenge and are not overly annoying.I've played the game since launch and, yes, it does have it's fair share of issues with it's servers, but besides those this is a very solid racing game without absolutely gorgeous graphics and silky smooth gameplay. The user reviews on here are overly dramatic and laughable and in no way does this game deserve a 1 or a 0. The game has its faults but it's a blast to play and has 50 cars and a ton of tracks in a variety of locales. Yes, it could have more cars but the ones in the game are all fun to drive and handle differently. The game play is fun and fast yet not too far off in realism.

Once the server's are fully restored, which as of a week after launch they are still experiencing connectivity issues, the game will truly shine. If you're looking for a fun racing game I don't think you'll find a better one on the PS4. It's not a masterpiece, but if you like arcade style racing games this offers plenty to keep you busy.

Try it for yourself and see how fun it is to race in these truly jaw-dropping environments.

My favorite racing game ever was NFS HP2 for PS3. While that was very arcade like, I loved the sense of speed and racing it gave. With that in mind, lets jump into this review.

Driveclub is that exceptional balance between Arcade and Sim racer; while the physics and controls may not be true to life as some hardcore SIM racers, it is definitely NOT an arcade racer, and they did an incredible job with the physics. You can't just drift mindlessly through turns or correct oversteer in a second. You will spin out trying to floor that SRT Viper out of a tight corner, going 150+ down straightaways on an uneven road environment, not a racetrack, will take some finesse to maintain stability, and your drifts lose momentum very quickly instead of rocketing you at 10000mph through turns. There is definitely a difference in the physics between different cars. And while some are more obvious than others (the F Type R is definitely more tail happy in this game than an AMG GTS, and both are less stable compared to the AWD Huracan), you need to realize that most 500+hp rear wheel drive cars have similar physics when being pushed to the limit, as due most FWD hot hatches, and most AWD supercars. But I will say there is a detectable difference in the feel and physics throughout the cars in this game. And if you're in a race where the weather is dynamic be prepared; you may start out hugging the road in dry conditions only to be sliding around carelessly as rain and snow begin to fall a lap or two later.

The car selection is spectacular. Yea many cars can now be found in added DLCs, especially the American cars everyone was so desperate for (myself included), like the stingray, Viper, Camaro, Charger; yea those can now be had with a DLC, suck it up, you can find this game cheap anyway so it was worth it for me. I've added that, the lambo pack, and some others b/c I want my McLaren 650s and Jag CX75 concept. But the car selection is phenomenal even without the DLC's, and some cars and packs are free to download. I was worried about a lack of recent cars since it was released last year buuuuut not the case. Lambo Huracan, McLaren 650s, AMG GTS, and some amazing hyper cars like the Lykan Hypersport, Koenigsegg One:One, and the La Ferrari, JUST TO NAME A FEW. The car selection is phenomenal. Customization goes as far as paint and livery which is pretty extensive, don't care for all the modding and crap in a game like this. How do you throw a bigger wing on the One:One anyhow?

The graphics, sound, and level of detail in the cars and environments is mother effing mindblowing. The cockpit views are incredible. I typically go with 3rd person views in racers b/c I like to admire the cars beauty as I race, but I find myself trying to master the narrowed vision from the cockpit views or just driving casually in Time Trial modes to enjoy the fanatical level of detail and move the camera around in the cockpit. Even the driver oriented details like flipping the paddle shifters (the hand begins to float in preparation for a shift as the tach climbs, and the feet actively move to hit the gas and brake pedals). Seriously, the detail blew me away. I love getting a sense of what it feels like to be in the cabin of some of these exotics, and this game delivers and delivers and delivers. And while there may not be an extensive list of real world racetracks, there is a beautiful selection of real world locations and tracks which offers an enormous variety of racing conditions, from insane mountain passes to flat out straightaway race tracks.

There's also an extensive single player mode in the form of the Driveclub Tour which is littered with progressive events and subevents for you to progress and increase your level, earning new cars and livery in the process. It offers a lot of fun and challenges. You've also got your quick race, time trial, and drift events you can just jump right into with a car (that you've unlocked) and track of your choice. The menu is beautifully done and easy to navigate, and they've added to the settings to allow you to tweak the smallest things like having a visible tach for the cockpit view to increasing the volume of engine noise vs. environmental sound during races. Turn engine sounds to +3db and get goosebumps from the sound of these machines. Like the interior car views but prefer the exterior engine and car sounds? Settings allow for that as well. Replays can be saved and photo mode is a thing.

This game was definitely released in a hurry before it was complete and polished, but the fact that it's all been ironed out should allow this game the credit and reviews it deserves. It is a fantastic racer for absolutely anyone. Don't whine about how you were expecting Grand Turismo. You want to race a Daihatsu around Silverstone at 15mph? You do that. I prefer to fly in a Huayra through the treacherous North Sea hugging highways of Norway with some stormy weather and rain.

Game play is awesome fun, each car has its own cons and pros. it is playable with the controller but steering wheel is highly recommended to get the best out of it. I have dedicated, probably close to 250 hours to this game and i will say hands down its best fun i had with a racer since Hot Pursuit 2010 (not including simulators).

Great selection of cars out of the box, plus loads of DLC cars, personally i will wait until all DLC is bundled together at the right price.

Graphics are stunning, especially during rain races and its not just eye candy, rain really affects game play in a big way.

Online play can be chaotic in a way that that people will slam full speed into sharp corners or use you as a brake which could make you end up last BUT unlike other games this one rewards you non the less, you gain points for you and your club. if im running last and no chance of catch up i drift and complete challenges. Still online is mad fun either way, even if you end up last you can still overtake those who play like retards and have proper racing with good players.

Do not let user score of 5.9 scare you away. You see when the game came out it was reviewed by many Xbox owners who do not even own PS4 or the game or ever played it. but this is modern gaming for you. i usually do not decide on a buy by the review unless its lower than 5/10.

First of all. Do NOT mind all the fanboys. If you check most reviewers you can see that they give Driveclub a 0 and Forza a 10.

Now to my review. Driveclub is a very stunning racing game. Without a doubt the best looking racing game on consoles for the moment. The tracks are very detailed and so are the cars. The weather system and the day/night cycle adds to the overall experience.

The handling of the cars are terrific. A great mix of simulator and arcade. And the audio is awesome.

The only bad thing I have to say about this game is that the servers are overloaded, a very common problem these days, but NOT acceptable nonetheless. This is however a server problem and not the game itself, so I'm not gonna let this affect my score as this is something that can happen to every online game.

I'm giving it an 8, for all its detail on the tracks, the cars and the handling of the cars. It would have been a solid 10 if there were more content and car customization. 50 cars and 55 tracks are okey, but not great.

More content are sure to come in the future in the form of DLC, but that doesn't help the game now. It's a good thing that the tracks however are dynamic in terms of time of day and weather to give a little variation.

But unfortunately the cons are there at the time of writing this review : online servers/places scarce or non existent, Plus Edition gone missing, rain and other weather conditions not yet implemented, Season Pass already available...

All in all, between 65€ - 85€ for half a game, a decent game, but not worthy of the price tag.

People are being too negative because they wanted it for free but the majority of the people who actually forked over the money are not disappointed. Tracks have been added since and next year we'll get Japan, a free update. Felt sorry for Evolution with all the abuse they got, it went too far. The graphics are second to none on of any racing game on consoles with dynamic lighting and day and night cycles this game really draws you in to the environment.

DriveClub is great racing game with fun gameplay, great controls and stunninf visuals. Almost every race is very intense, sense of speed is very well done and you will swap cars faster than you can handle ( literaly ).

Unfortunately driveclub is full of small annoying problems along with some big ones, which keeps it from truly great racing game. First of all single player game will take you around 8 hours to finish all races and tournaments and unlock majority of cars, thats kind of troubling for racing game i would say. Majority of game is rather easy, you will finish most of them at first place on first try. Also the ones which are challenging, are not challenging but are rather unfair. Later, there are races where will be one or two much better cars than you have, which makes it basicly impossible to win, so you have to play for the 3rd position, which is ok because you usualy need to be at top 3 position to get the star you need, but this is simply unfair gameplay where its obviously made so that you have to return to the race when 10 levels later you will unlock some car which will make it possible for you to finish race at first place ( you unlock lower tier cars at higher levels as well ).

Then there is whole slew of small problems. Such as, why in the hell cant i change color of my car ? i dont think i played any racing game in my recent memory where you cant change basic color of your car. Perhaps one year dealy wasnt enough to add color picker, i dont know.
There is also this club you can make, you can make your logo, yet you have to take one of the 4 most uglies liveries world ever saw and you cant make any of your own. So whast the point ?
Music, usualy its ok, but its extremely repetetive, do you remember that annoying song from trailers ? "How fast do you wanna go ? " if you didnt like it in trailers, you will hate in the game, get ready to hear it 3 or 4 times in a row on occasions.
There is system which penalizes you for cutting corners or hitting ai cars, so that playing bumpy cars doesnt pay out too much, thats all nice and dandy, except you get penalized when ai car hits you !!! Every time ai screws up and hits you from behind you get that annoying red flash bar annoying you and letting you know how poorly implemented it is. I guess thats why it is red, so that you dont overlook how badly its done. To be honest, in this case you just get your score lowered in this case, no speed limit as if you cut curner, so its no such big deal. But its still very annoying and can pull you out of the game a bit.

Instead of racing trail you have these flags to help you know if turn is easy or hard. Thats cool, except sometimes green ones should be yellow, yellow should be green, or greens shouldnt be there or they should be red. You simple cant rely on them, again, just poor execution of something which should be simply working well.

Also when they spent so much time on making these beatiful cars with these amazing graphics why there is on inspection of the cars ? why there is no replay ? how could they delay game for an year, yet miss out on replay feature ??? Right now servers are down and i wont rate that for that reason, i am expecting it will add more fun to the game, but game feels right now like there is lack of stuff to do. Also its a pity there isnt any kind of stuff to do beyond racing, like customizing your cars or anything along those lines. This game with its visuals screams for some kind of obsessive car mode, let me polish that hood or at least some engine parts.
So all in all, Driveclub has amazing core gameplay, which is realy beyond most regular racing games. At least in my opinion. I enjoyed even time trials and drifting races which i never before did, more so i enjoyed actual races, which are usualy very intense and you will just get that pure enjoyment from driving fast, overtaking and the overall rush of the race. Driveclub features of course amazing visuals and is just joy to look at. But it also feels very unfinished and its lacking very basic features. As of right now Driveclub for me stands at solid 8 out of 10. There is huge potentional to get much better when the game will be complete with more features.

You mainly hold the same line round the track chasing a group of cars until you can squeeze past the car in front and take their position. It's all a little slow and doesn't have the buzz of playing arcade racers. I know this is a realistic sim racer but I enjoy the old school style Sega Rally's and Ridge Racer's more for the unrealistic race fun. I have not not had any Issue with the AI, its worth to note that I have played on the highest difficulty since the begining, and on that level the AI is both challenging and fair. Back when the game came out I would probably have given the game a 7/10. It was fun, but needed something extra. I bought the season pass, craving for more. The season pass is so worth the money. You just get so many new tours and lots of sweet new cars to play with. Evolution studios, is also really dedicated, to listen to feedback, espcially on their facebook fansite. They do frequent updates to keep us informed on the new stuff they are working on and responds to peoples feedback. This dedication is what have helped making this game a 10/10 from me. The love for the game they have made really do shine through with everything in the game. Time trials is so addicting, as I always want to beat my friends best times and try to beat the global leaderboard. Multiplayer is also alot of fun, and there still keep coming new multiplayer modes, which is great. Driving online with your club is fun espcially if you are in a party with your team and talk together while trying to win against the other team or if its just free for all fun. Sure there is some **** races once in a while, but that is not something you can prevent, because some people are just **** drivers. Not the developers fault, The controls of the game is responsive, the weather effects are amazing! And overall this game is just a great arcade racer with loads of hours of fun. I still play it till this day, for the multiplayer, time trials, the continued added new content (cars, tours). I can not reccomend this enough if you like arcade racers. But you have to dedicade your time into perfecting your driving. If you do so, you will have a great time with this game. If you are on edge, to buy this game, download the PS Plus version, and feel free to add my on PS4, my psn is : Sinink . We can do some multiplayer then, or just challenge eachother. Anyway. 10/10 overall from me.

This game without a doubt is a fun game to play completing challenges and unlocking new cars is quite fun. Even though it definitely needs more cars than just 50 I am happy that they got the sound of the cars right as well as the feel. DriveClub needs improvements no doubt but it is a fun game that anyone can play and I am really enjoying it so far.

The point is very simple with DC: if you enjoy racing cars in non-racetrack environments, and you have friends who do alike, this is an arcade racer you will enjoy very much and for a long time as content is plenty. If racing alone does not satisfy you, the game will always remain mediocre.

I belong to the first fraction, so I'll give it a 10 because its fresh community integration

I belong to the first fraction, so I'll give it a 10 because its fresh community integration generates such great fun that we have with DC already. My gut feeling is, the fun will continue for quite some time. That's what I expect from a current PS4 title.

All ps4 owners should try this for themselves and forget about the paid for reviews by Microsoft. I love xbox and live but I've noticed since Microsoft entered the console race anything below an 90 metacritic has been considered a bad game. I am ashamed by some of the user reviews on here especially those you can tell haven't even played the game. It is a solid point to point racer with more to come in the future and if you own both consoles I suggest you own both games as they each have their excellent points. I thank my buddy for showing me the light and giving me a go on it as its changed my opinion. I have no idea what the xbox fanboys are so worried about. We have a good racer and so does ps4 now. It has been a while since I played any racing games. That being said, I am not really into racing games with "character". I tried "Need for Speed rivals" and "The Crew - closed beta" and honestly did not like either of them much. I would rather jump directly into a race than drive to one. Going off the track is all very well, but for me that makes more sense in a game like GTA or WatchIt has been a while since I played any racing games. In a racing game I just want to dive in and play. The cars handle pretty well imo. This is not a simulation but more of an arcade style racer. There are no upgrades and I am okay with it. Different cars handle differently though. The graphics are gorgeous and have a real life feel. The spectators are not that good looking though. Also, I did not like the corner cutting penalty - it makes no sense in this game. The time of day controls are great though and night driving feels just like driving at night - without any huge lit up signs point the way. It is a good game - easy to get into. Customization has its time and place, but if you do not invest enough time to upgrade your car you can get left behind in a few weeks time. I like it because this is not a game where you drive around, it is one where you race. Expand

Buen control, buenos gráficos y buena IA. Lo que más se puede criticar es que el catálogo de coches es algo limitado. Y que algunos detalles en algunos mapas están por debajo de la media, podrían haberse trabajado más. Aún así, un gran juego.

A very good racing game. With a great graphics, and a physics which is not usual for an arcade racing game. First couple hours it was boring, but then, when i got some skills, it became so hardcore and interesting. Those who said that AI, graphics and physics is crap are just **** which can't play racing games. 9 only because of a small amount of content.

I`ve now completed the single player tour whilst there was online issues but have now played some 15 online races, only 2 or 3 were lagging the rest were great fun.
The only issues i dislike is that, races start too quickly without any leaderboard info, etc. Doesnt always show your best times when in a race, only in a time trial. AI can be too aggressive sometimes. Some graphics are not as good as the pre-release videos, alpha on trees, pylons, etc are low res and have a halo around them. Damage is just a decorative effect that doesnt effect the car performance.
If they can tweak these problems, and sort the online challenges, etc out then this will be one of the best driving games ever.

The cars are nicely modeled and you're offered multiple third and first person views to choose from.
The physics are pure arcade, but work pretty well. The handling is direct and it doesn't feel floaty like many other arcade racers from the recent years.

The offline career mode is a little underwhelming. The amount of events the tour mode comes with is simply not enough, and it's appalling that they keep 176 (!) events aside as paid DLC. You can get them for €20 with the season pass, but for a game going for the full retail price, they should have been included. Some of the DLC will be provided for free, but it doesn't make up for the stuff they make you pay extra for.

Online, the game was a disaster on release but is gradually improving. Still a lot of bugs though with what should have been the core of this game.

    + Graphics
    + Handling
+ Fun factor of the tour events

    - Paid DLC for stuff that should have been included

I bought the game at launch at it sat on my shelf until now. I tried to play it but so many better games came out and I simply didn't have the time. Now the weather patch has hit, online issues have been fixed and the game is generally more stable. So I decided to give it another go after seeing all the hype for the new weather system. I was quite surprised to see that I spend a whole evening just marvelling at the effects. I also gave the campaign another go and am now at around half way through.

It has been a bumpy start for Evolution studios for this generation. Driveclub still isn't as fun as say Forza in my opinion, but it's a nice racing game fix with some truly spectacular graphics. During launch I wouldn't have recommended Driveclub, now I'm beginning to think it might not be that bad. It still isn't a Forza-killer, but it's worth a shot. Now if only that PS+ version would be released as well....more people could appreciate Evolution's effort.

Sure there have been some severe networking issues plaguing the game since launch, but they're almost fixed now, much to our relief. There is a hugely competitive game here with oodles of content promised over the next nine months. Really looking forward to seeing what else Evo bring to the table.

Driveclub is a must-have for any PS4 racing fan. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys a good arcade racer. It’s challenging, but teaches you how to overcome every single one. Because of this, Driveclub is far more rewarding than its peers.
