Shutdown servers mean buying 1/4 of a game. Wish I could've seen what was here. No compelling reason to play. Very limited vehicle selection, no customization, small number of tracks. I only gave a 1 because it didn't pull a GT7 with microtransactions

It's simply one of the most dissapointing Racing games i've ever played. Graphics are okay and i like the concept behind the game, but steering and drive control are simply horrible designed. That the servers are down and 90 percent of it's features are not longer avaiable is also a bad joke. Thanks god, this game never gets an sequel.

In my personal opinion I think drive club is a unique high quality game which is great, but in my opinion I would like the game even more if you could drive around freely and customize the cars like for example wrapping the car different colours, customizing wheels that sort of stuff. A good thing about the game is that you can also connect the ps4 steering wheel and enjoy the game more. Expand

Driveclub is a PS4 launch game that tried to bring something new to the online racing genre but ended up being a huge disappointment.

Driveclub was delayed for more than a year and its eventual launch was botched because servers didn't work and weather effects were missing. The developers brought servers back online, added the weather effects, and afterwards supported the game for a year with dozens of free and paid for DLCs. When everything calmed down though, what game did we finally have in our hands?

Driveclub was meant to revolutionize the racing genre, by bringing people together in Clubs (think of clans or groups) who'd collectively race, progress and challenge other players and/or Clubs. A new social racing game for the online age. But the execution failed, because I never felt I had to be in a Club to progress. After winning 5 career tournaments (15-20 races total) I stopped playing because I wasn't having fun, unfortunately.

The driving itself is a mix of simulation and arcade and is fine, but the races are played in walled environments. I know it's not an open world racer like Forza Horizon, but older Gran Turismo games had more freedom than that. When driving well you earn points for the Club, but if you crash with other cars or against the environment, or exit the main road, you lose points.

The graphics are supposed to be Driveclub's main selling point, but they also hurt the game. I read reviewers raving about the "amazing graphics" but I wasn't in such an awe as other people for some reason. These graphics had the side-effect of forcing the developers to target 30 fps instead of 60. But what impressed me for sure were the weather effects like rain, fog and snow, as well as the day/night cycle. Yet again, these effects can completely obscure your vision (no matter what camera you are using) and make you crash the car.

Driveclub is a game with many pros and cons, but I think it's a failed experiment.

Visually outstanding and a great range of cars and maps, but it all takes too long to unlock and the game is very boring / monotonous.

It's so damn repetitive! The visuals are the only thing it's got going for it and they're temperamental, going from "wow pretty rain" to "is what I'm driving on a 240p stretched texture?" It's not even slowdown that you'd expect for going on grass, the game physically HALVES your speed and holds it there for three seconds, which is really bloody annoying. Just... Contras:

They screwed up in one major detail. The game has really low fps. It hurts my brain, and it makes the game unplayable, because it makes me lose all sense of how fast the car is going. To sacrifice fps for flashy graphics is like the worst thing you can do as a dev, if you're not even going to leave the option to lower the graphics quality in.

Does extremely hard turning make a realistic game? I've never driven 130 mph, but I do know that I would die if I crashed into a wall, but instead it feels like bumper cars. The graphics are pretty, to say the least.

invisible walls, car resets after few seconds out of track, photo mode is worse than in the Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2.
    very poor sounds.
vaunted rain pours only over your car within 50 meters- it is easy to see when leaving any tunnel in the raining race.
if not complete absence of exclusive racing games on the PS4, this game does not deserve to 1 score.
    unfortunately I bought this game.
fortunately I did not buy any supplements, so I has got off relatively cheaply.

Pretty disappointing experience on this one. I can't fault the graphics at all and the sfx are pretty good and immersing. But the control of the cars is shocking, usually you're either spinning, getting knocked about by the other cars or clipping unforgiving scenery. Driveclub is a must-have for any PS4 racing fan. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys a good arcade racer. It’s challenging, but teaches you how to overcome every single one. Because of this, Driveclub is far more rewarding than its peers. This coupled with fantastic graphical fidelity, impressive sound design, and adrenaline-inducing sense of speed makes Driveclub one of the best racing games available on current-gen systems.
