This particular game is a joy and has a story that has a conclusion that is worth the time and effort. It might not please all fans of its prequels due to its obscure time-hopping scenes, but even they should love the final catch-all scene. It is an excellent entry to the universe and a fantastic addition to the PS4 catalogue, and will leave most hoping for another game in the future.

Yes, it is walking somewhat close to the interactive movie genre of Telltale, but unlike those games there is actual gameplay, challenge and mystique while the choices in discussions are done expertly with reason and skill and they affect the game organically. While some (us included) might have some issues with the removal of more traditional adventure mechanisms, the world of Dreamfall: Chapters is so expertly created and its story so magnificently written that it is easy to overlook any issues and just get absorbed in this incredible tale.

Dreamfall Chapters is a lengthy and entertaining game with an enthralling narrative. The minor annoyances won't stop me from recommending it to any fan of adventure games or even someone who simply wants to enjoy a solid story.

Dreamfall Chapters is an entertaining game that will bring about a satisfying continuation of the long-running series. While it has many of the same trappings that most adventure games suffer from – namely clunky controls and occasionally unintuitive puzzles – this is more than made up for with the game’s story. If you’ve been waiting for the full console release of Dreamfall Chapters to continue your adventures in (and out of) Dreamtime, wait no longer and pick up Dreamfall Chapters as soon as you can.

Worth a look for fans of adventure games, with the caveat that the first few hours are a tad slow but, if you persevere, there’s a more than rewarding payoff waiting for you at the end.

Dreamfall Chapters masterfully closes a sublime trilogy of graphic adventures. But too obvious technical issues lower its rating.

For fans of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, it’s been a bittersweet twenty years. Those who have been on that journey all this time will enjoy the chance to send those characters off one last time, although newcomers might only get to understand parts of the story. Cameos and past events fill out a majority of Dreamfall Chapter’s setting, but there’s still an entwined story beneath it all that can be enjoyed by newcomers nonetheless. Although the Unity port’s performance doesn’t handle particularly well under pressure on the Playstation 4 Pro, the journey is still worth taking just to see Kian and Zoë’s stories come to a close.

Dreamfall Chapters isn’t for everybody, but it’s a must for anyone who’s played the previous games, specifically Dreamfall. The story picks up where that left off, while concluding the tale The Longest Journey began decades ago. Ironically, though the plot itself is about balance, the game has difficulties balancing its gameplay style. Although modern third-person adventuring and old-school logic puzzles are both implemented, neither is particularly impressive. Luckily, the overall plot is exciting and deep enough to warrant its 25+ hour runtime. As long as you’re okay with jumping into a story in progress, it’s a worthy journey to take and a compelling dream to fall into.

Although Dreamfall Chapters fills in the checklist for an adventure story game, it still leaves some room for improvement. The game is good overall, but just don't expect it to be a dream come true.

Dreamfall Chapters is a thoroughly enjoyable game. The story is hugely compelling and I’ve met some characters which will stick with me for some time. Whilst it does a great job of introducing new players, with a decent summary, this is a game where you’ll get more out of it if you are an existing fan. If you’re looking for a modern adventure game then this is a very good place to start.

It's is beautiful how Dreamfall Chapters tells an amazing story with modern subjects such as racism and technology. Too bad some conversations take ages.

Chapters doesn't fully commit to the puzzle-adventure genre the saga is known for, but with plenty to explore and a novel's worth of narrative packed into it, you won't be strapped for content.

Dreamfall Chapters´ episodic storyline have some great moments, but gameplay is too simple and puzzles are not well balanced. Technical aspects (except for the main character models) are poor.

The third chapter in the Longest Journey series delivers amazing storytelling and art direction, unfortunately not supported by solid technical features.

Dreamfall Chapters delivers a great story and takes you back to wonderful worlds that were created 17 years ago. However, its technical issues and some design choices are sometimes difficult to forgive, and prevent this title from being something much better.

Issues aside, Dreamfall Chapters is an adventure game worthy of your time. The story is powerful and engaging, with characters you’ll fall in love with. Get past the annoying robot and characters that swear far too much (and seemingly for the shock factor) near the start, and you’ll begin to appreciate all the hard work Red Thread Games has put into each and every book.

Dreamfall Chapter is a complete collection ported on Ps4 and Xbox One of the episodic adventures published on Pc starting from 2014, set in the marvelous world of the Longest Journey saga. The nice adventure game is supported by amazing storytelling and top notch art direction, but unfortunately is technically mediocre, and this fact is made more evident due to a not so great console porting. If you loved April Ryan and Zoë Castillo journeys, you need, no, you actually MUST play this game, but if it’s your first travel in the reigns of Stark and Arcadia, well… this is not the right chapter to start from.

Dreamfall Chapters Final Cut pulls you straight into the intriguing world of politics, but it struggles keeping things interesting towards the end. The puzzle design is frustrating and the personal interactions with the Stark and Arcadia peoples get a bit boring after a while.

A great story with interesting characters is done wrong by a lot of backtracking and muddled puzzle design. This could've turned out much better.

Dreamfall Chapters is an adventure game that feels simultaneously like a contemporary to surprise hit Life Is Strange and a throwback to the more obtuse titles of yesteryear like Grim Fandango, never quite managing to hit the highs or lows of either. For those who have grown accustomed to the Telltale approach to adventure gaming, Dreamfall Chapters might prove to be too frustrating an experience to warrant persevering with, but for people who fondly remember trapping the infamous goat in Broken Sword or the rubber chicken zip-line in Monkey Island, it might provide a welcome dose of nostalgia.

While the story is interesting, it doesn’t translate well with its technical glitches and shortcomings as well as sometimes awkward puzzle implementation, that serve only to drag you out of the world instead of immersing you in it.

Longtime fans of The Longest Journey series will certainly forgive the flaws of this third episode, to finally know the end of the story, but the others will be quickly bored.

Dreamfall Chapters is a hard sell for all but the most devoted fans of The Longest Journey. Story aside there’s little else that encourages investment of your time. Troublesome tech niggles alongside poor pacing and inconsistent puzzling sits some really intriguing characters and two worlds filled with narrative wonder. That you have to outpace your boredom to reach the juicy bit of Dreamfall Chapters’ rich story is perhaps the biggest obstacle of all.

Dreamfall Chapters stays true to the adventure genre it embraced in 1999, but sticking to the same approach in 2017 means it feels a little past its prime.

Your choices seemingly don't matter much, cringeworthy/confusing dialogues quite often, and a SJW agenda storyline. You don't need to tell meYour choices seemingly don't matter much, cringeworthy/confusing dialogues quite often, and a SJW agenda storyline. You don't need to tell me how being gay is acceptable 400 times in the game and how genocide is bad 400 times in the game, I'm aware. Focus more on the storyline and actual choices instead of shoehorning politics the whole game, thanks.

If you're a fan of the whole game being about: teenage lesbians, women empowerment, and racism/bigotry is bad m'kay... this is the game for you.

As a fan of The Longest Journey and somebody who was fairly pleased with the Dreamfall saga as a whole I must say...this game has not agedAs a fan of The Longest Journey and somebody who was fairly pleased with the Dreamfall saga as a whole I must say...this game has not aged well. Maybe its just me, but everything from the plot to the characterization and even the visuals seemed to have deteriorated tremendously for this final chapter, in such a way that it begs you to consider: were the pre-quells really any better?

I wanted to re-experience the story, but apart from some mashed together clips on YouTube there isn't really a good synopsis of the story thus far (and it is a convoluted one), which kind of leaves newcomers at a disadvantage. This is something I was sure the re-release of Dreamfall Chapters would remedy, after all this is the FINAL chapter. I was wrong.

Upon start-up of the game there IS an option for a quick recap, which is narrated by the games leading protagonists. However to say it was brief is an understatement, and it left out some critical information from the ORIGINAL game that has a huge impact on the universe at large as well as character motivations.

I guess you could argue that at this point only hardcore fans are following the series, and this isn't REALLY a good point of entry, but what a huge ball dropped. Even knowing all the ins and outs, to see it summarized is tantamount to the experience as a whole. Fans have come a long way with this series, and supported it with hard earned cash - we deserve a summary of our exploits at the very least.

That's a minor issue however, compared to the larger problem with Dreamfall Chapters. Its BORING. I mean dreadfully boring. Context is seemingly added for every unnecessary object you stumble across, and while done the right way this can show a deepness of universe, all the writers ever did was find way to shoehorn in ways the item pertained to the character examining it.

So we get tons of background on characters in this sense, but not much else. It leaves a lot to be desired, and it seems the games mechanics have actually regressed over time, simplifying themselves in nature and pandering to the lazy gamer who's there for a story.

Here's the problem with that, Telltale has raised the bar significantly for this style of gameplay and Dreamfall Chapters misses ALL the queues. Engaging and interactive player sequences - nope. Huge set-pieces and impactful decisions - nope. Relatable protagonists and problem solving? Absolutely not. It's like they expected this games legacy to account for the obvious dip in writing and gameplay, but it simply does not.

For all of that it is more Dreamfall, and perhaps the closure console fans needed. However in retrospect a remake of the classic would have been far more pleasing, and its an experience that console users also missed. This was basically a wasted opportunity to capitalize on the adventure game trend, and it feels like it in every way. A disappointing 5/10.

Games like this prove that games are a credible medium of strong storytelling. Gameplay is nothing too special and graphics are normal but that's fine because the art direction and the aesthetic are top of the line.

This is a re-release of the PC version and runs just about as well as that one. As great as this game is, it's a pretty hard sell for those who have already played it. However if you haven't played this game then I highly recommend it.
