    Although this game has been out for just 3 days now, I have had a TON of fun with it, and have been playing it relentlessly. I'm surprised I can pry myself away from the game to write this review.

    The gameplay is reminiscent of old-style arena shooters, such as Quake, only if it were designed by an angsty teenager who would play such a game. I'm surprised I can pry myself away from the game to write this review.

    The gameplay is reminiscent of old-style arena shooters, such as Quake, only if it were designed by an angsty teenager who would play such a game. There are several characters to choose from, who all have their own special attacks, among other pros and cons. My 2 favorites are Bronco, an 80's style action hero, and Alan, a sadistic restaurant mascot. The matches consist of either all-out-deathmatch, team deathmatch, or kill and collect, all of which consist of 4 players. The matches are hectic, chaotic, and are almost never slow. All the guns feel right in their own way, and the character combinations are interesting to see. The grenades however, seem tacked on, and I could never quite find a good use for them.

    Although the art design bugged me at first, I soon grew to appreciate it. Although it doesn't look it, a lot of care has been put into the aesthetics of the game. The characters, their skins, and the guns look great. The stages also look nice, but in my opinion they were TOO white. Some color would have been nice. Moving on, the major issue I have with the game is the progression. It takes quite an insulting amount of time to unlock the mystery boxes. But on the plus side, you can unlock weapons through keys, which take some time to acquire, but none too long. Each character has in game challenges they can complete, not very hard for the most part, but sometimes they aren't clear on what they need you to do.

    There are a few small issues i have with the game, and most consist of small graphical glitches throughout the menus, such as not allowing me to select a stage, or not telling me I have entered matchmaking. The menus on the main title are a little confusing at first, but I soon found out where everything is. Some characters may need nerfing, such as Diabla and Cyborgula, but they aren't too bad to kill the game for me. Also, for those playing in a party, like i have mostly so far, the game may pair you and your friend up with one person alone. This gives the single person a buff, including a damage buff and health buff. This completely kills the pace of the game, and is just not fun. I soon began to back out of a game when I saw just one person. All of my issues though, hold almost no water compared to the immense amount of fun i was having.

    I see myself putting much, much more time into Drawn to Death in the future. 9/10    … Expand

    There are going to be two types of reviews I expect to see here. Those who played the game for a match and then gave up on it and those who gave it some time.

    Im in the later category and I feel this game has some potential, the art style can be slightly off putting at first but Its been done this way for a reason and I can fully appreciate what the game designers are trying to do.     Drawn to death can be probably be summed up as a dukenukem hero shooter hybrid. I really enjoyed the variety and ridiculousness of the arsenal while still having that learning curve with each ability.

    I love that they have done the utmost to keep to the theme of the game throughout and taunt system using GIF's on different regions of the touchpad is genius, would really like to see other game incorporate this.

    All in all I hope to drag a few more mates into this and fingers crossed it its played enough to warrant the devs putting more time in to refine any rough edges.    … Expand

    Pretty solid so far. I'v only had a few hours spread throughout the day to play it, but im digging it. The graphics are pretty neat and i get a hefty chuckle (well, I really just push air through my nose slightlier heavier than usual) at some of the grimy things they have on these maps. I'm looking forward to spending some more time with it this weekend.

    great game for free needs alot of skill to master they need to tone down some of the weapons they are too op but i love the art style of the game, with a few tweaks this game could be even better it is very addicting its not just a run and gun i hope it lasts and they ad more content

    This game is amazing, pure art and an unconventional shooter that aims for something different in the modern market! This game is a comeback for David Jaffe and is one of the most stylish games Ive ever played. Very impressed and super fun!!!!!!!!

    The humor here is brilliant and never gets old…
    From the taunts to the announcer doing commentary during the matches…
    There are 6 characters to choose from, but the loadouts and weapon choices stay the same… the only thing that changes are the special moves you can do with these characters…
    You can anchor an opponent down for example or you can make their ears bleed if you keep them in your dome long enough…
    And each character has 2 special moves and well as 2 guns to take into each battle…
    These guns are all fairly unique, and all have their advantages and disadvantages in each of the maps…
    So it’s worth changing your loadout and playing around with different items…
    Made easier by the fact that you can choose the weapons to have in map for you to pick up
    There are currently 7 maps total here…
    And unfortunately all of these maps to me felt nothing more than alright…
    There were no standouts.. No favorites for me
    The weakest part of the entire game…
    The actual gameplay itself is a blast…
    There are 7 match types...
    But at its core there’s basically 2
    Death Match and organ donor
    Organ donor is a kill, collect hearts, and bank match…
    Fairly unique, but rare to find yourself in this match type
    and then there’s Death Match
    it has a 1v1 brawl mode.. but you’ll mostly be playing a triple threat every person for themselves or 2v2 trying to get to either 10 or 20 points
    The biggest disappointment though is that the teams are so small…
    Matches never really feel hectic because of that…
    You for the most part know where the other 2 players are at at all times
    So it in turn turns into just a game of who can get the luckiest in a tight spot…
    you don’t have to worry about another player being around the corner..
    you rarely have to be cautious…
    Not that this is a bad thing… its brings the feel back to spending the night at your friend’s house in the 90s and playing 4 player split screen
    But on its own… it’s just not enough…
    Especially considering how grindy unlocks are…
    There are 2 different unlock systems in this game..
    1 for weapons, and 1 for taunts and skins…
    To unlock weapons you have to fill a key by leveling up characters and doing in match tasks…
    Essentially you’ll get a new weapon every hour or so depending on if you actively go after them or not
    And as for the loot boxes with the taunts and skins.. you have to get 150 kills for a free box…
    That’s 15 wins assuming you get all of the kills for your team…
    You’re looking at about 3 hours per box. If you’re a 360 no scope pro
    And aint nobody got time for that…
    And the developers know this…
    So they toss in those wonderful free to play micro transactions
    So you can look a little different until you get bored of the maps and 2v2 action
    Drawn to Death is fun,
    You’ll lose hours to trying out new characters and weapons..
    But the grind is too grindy…
    Rewards are spread way too thin to keep people hooked in favor of making a quick buck, and that’s a shame

    Pretty enjoyable game. It can get really frustrating though. No matter who i'm with I seem to be the worst member on the team and just consistently get wrecked. But whatever, I think it's cool

    First, let me just start that I've only played a little less than 3 hours of this game. And so far I've been pleased. The graphics on this game are nice even though the characters are penciled in to make the effect of a high school writer. Really good job, by pulling that off from the design team. For being that it is currently free for PS plus members I have to praise it on the fact that I've practically paid no money for it, instead of having paid 19.99 for what the game is at regular price. I've only played one mode it is called deathmatch where 4 players are a match made and you are dropped into a random stage or a stage that the consensus selects. You have a good variation of characters to choose from and while you continue to play you are able to add weapons by earning keys that you unlock for the more time you play. And also are able to use different skins by opening mystery boxes which unlock items such as skins and taunts. which are generally not the greatest way to start, seeing that microtransactions ruin the experience. but this isn't something like you have to do. But it is there to put different skins on your favorite character. The shooting mechanics in this game are really fun, and there is plenty to learn it's a simple yet a bit complex by seeing that there is a dash, double jump, and kick, and special moves to learn. once you play the tutorial you definitely feel more at ease knowing your abilities. So definitely try the tutorial. Also there is a bit of banter which is kinda fun, but also childish. it's ok, but it seems like they try to hard to be funny. definitely some crude jokes here and there, and definitely some interesting types of weapons like a monkey throwing poop at you. and other tidbits that they have. it's interesting, to say the least. I definitely think this game should be checked out if you are a PS plus member. But I would steer away if you were to pay full price for this game seeing that it's only a 4 player type game. And not sure if they game's lust will last for so long. really good concept and hope this game continues to strive with players to bring more content and different modes. similar to Rocket League.… Expand

    Graphically, this game is unique, interesting and fun. It's attaches itself to a strong design concept, and it does so very well: Drawn to Death is nothing if not different, in a good way. It's the brainchild of David Jaffe, and it shows - Jaffe is best known for his work in creating the multiplayer vehicular killfest that is Twisted Metal, as well as the machismo-injected antihero epic God of War. Drawn to Death is a third-person shooter that takes place within the notebook of a despondent and artistic teenager; namely, the kind that would spend all day drawing Iron Maiden cover art. The weapons are one-of-a-kind, and while not exactly anywhere near balanced for eSports-levels of competitive combat, will definitely leave players discussing favorites and least-favorites in a manner similar to the fragfest weapons of old-school arena shooters.

    Unfortunately, while graphics, presentation and overall gameplay are a big plus, the level of content can be a bit thin. Each character does have two unique special attacks, as well as their own unique character abilities; but with only six characters at launch, it's a lot less layered than other character shooters like - of course - Overwatch. And while there's not incredible difficulty finding online matches, its' online presence isn't exactly comparable to other current shooters in the genre at the moment. Add to that a tacked-on microtransaction platform, and you've got a recipe for success that unfortunately still wears thin a little quickly on a lot of players. The writing and humor, while solid, tends to also be trying a little bit too hard at times - but considering what kind of game this is, that can easily be overlooked. However, underneath all that is a game that is still a head above the competition in terms of F2P shooters and is definitely worth a look for PS+ members who are contesting whether or not to just bite the bullet and get the free download.    … Expand

    I almost gave up on Drawn to Death entirely after the first few matches. I didn't know how to use my characters abilities, or know what many of the weapons did and where they were located. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal, It was a free PlayStation Plus game, no money lost. But... then I got some kills, and some more kills, and more. Slowly I began to master my characters abilities and learn the map layout, effortlessly going on kill streaks that had me hitting that share button more than I usually do. And I got hooked! There's something about this 4 player shooter that brought me back to the good old days sitting around one TV with 3 other friends playing Conkers or Golden eye. The trash talk and raw competitive play had us having some of the best times in our gaming lives and Drawn to Death feels so similar to those good old days. I read and hear other opinions on the game, some comparing it to this game or that game, but I was somehow reminded of the old N64 days and the games I mentioned. Drawn to Death has scratched that itch for me and I genuinely haven't had so much fun in a multiplayer shooter as I have been having with this game.

    The game itself is straight forward. Pick a character in which has its own special abilities and play style, set up your desired choice of guns and enter each map with the goal of demolishing the other players. Game modes include TDM variants for 2v2 gameplay, and a mix of modes perfect for 1v1 or 1v4 matches such as organ donor and death match. Each mode plays different than the other allowing a fun mix of style and play for players to take part in and enjoy. Unranked matches offer a good place for people to play casually and learn the ropes, while the ranked match lobbies offer a fun and challenging twist to winning matches for players who want a little bit more bragging rights. Each win in ranked gives you a star or two, depending on if you finish first or second, which grants you stickers for your character profile that indicates where you are on the ranked tower. Each loss takes away a star which could have you dropping down a peg on the tower. I really enjoy ranked matches. There is a slightly more competitive edge there and it's rewarding to get new stickers for bragging rights.

    Graphically, this game is something totally different than what most are accustomed to. It's not full of lush green vegetation, beautiful skylines and "ehr mher gherd" lighting effects. But instead is a hand drawn, pen drawn style you'd find on many teenagers notebooks from their high school years. Hell, at 32 years old I still remember doodling some ridiculous characters while bored to death in class. The style is original, and while seemingly overwhelming at first, is actually really beautiful in its utilization. The art is just plain fun. There is so much to see and read and explore, which is crazy considering the fact that during that time you are frantically blasting away at enemy players and just trying your best to stay alive. Reading a line written in the sky and trying to figure out what it has to do with the overall setting is challenging but satisfying all the same. This game really has depth in its art. It would be hard to believe mixed into all the absolute bad-assery that is #DrawnToDeath, is that there is a story hidden within it. But there is! And what that story is in fact is something each player will get pieces to as they notice and find things strewn all across this game. From the menues to the maps themselves, this game is rich in little Easter eggs.

    David Jaffe and the crew at Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency have made a fantastic game. You can tell that this small rag tag group of talent really put their heart and souls into this entertaining game. It's violent, it's crude, its rude and it's savage. Everything I could ever have wanted in a "in your face" multiplayer shooter/brawler. Is it for everyone? Probably not. Some "critics" reviews, it seems, just want to hate it for hating sake. Some are obviously just absolute garbage at multiplayer shooters. (Cough cough everyone at IGN). However this game, when given the chance, is an absolute gem in my gaming collection. I highly recommend those on the fence to really give it a go. Play with a friend. Learn the characters play style. Experiment. This game has the potential to do big things. New characters, maps, weapons etc. all possibilities given time. This is just the beginning folks. And I'm liking what I see. ;)    … Expand

    for PS+ members, this is your free Overwatch lite game. That does not mean it is a cheap knock off or bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it does however feel more bare bones.

    for PS+ members, this is your free Overwatch lite game. That does not mean it is a cheap knock off or bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it does however feel more bare bones.

    Lets start with the good.
    The artwork is incredible and it shows that the designers put a lot of thought into their characters and arenas. Few games are able to make such a claim especially at the AAA level where we are left with "generic hero B".

    In addition to that, while the humour may be crude, it is still witty and fits in perfectly with the perspective of being a high school student's notebook and therefore his narrative.

    Characters are well designed and their attacks are unique to them which also builds an interesting game in terms of diversity. I don't worry that my selection will not matter as each character has their own skill.

    The not so great.

    It's free to play and while the game will make several jabs at this gag, it is becoming an increasingly more common problem with games. Free to Play is becoming normalized and being given these games as apart of a subscription fee does not sit well with me. We as the consumer should not be "given the option" of spending more money on a free to play game when we are paying for a service.
    Even more frustrating is that more often, PS+s games are becoming free to play (Rocket League is guilty of this) and a few months ago we had Let it Die.

    Controls:
    The game is fun and incredibly fast paced, but there is a definitely learning curve to the game which greatly punishes you for not learning quick enough. This alone may deter newer players from giving this game a chance.

    Summary:
    Drawn to Death is a quirky game that with the right group of friends could easily become a lovable game, however with larger scale "free to play" multiplayer games like Overwatch, I am left questioning the longevity of Drawn to Death, especially since Overwatch was able to Crush Battleborn within a year and Let it Die's community, while solid, is also dwindling.

    TL;DR: What works is great, what doesn't requires time and effort to develop. If this doesn't sound like your cup of tea, try Overwatch.    … Expand

    Fantastic game, lots of depth, lots of little juicy gameplay nuggets to discover. The time to kill is pretty long, so people who can think on their feet will have plenty of time to apply some strategy towards getting kills.

    Cool idea. Unique style and old school feel. Seems kind of difficult. Very long wait times to get into a match so far. Might be some matchmaking issues but only first day. Definitely worth checking out but they need to improve the time it takes to get into a game.

    Только быстрый матчмейкинг может порадовать.

I've played well over 100 matches and have more than 1000 kills, so it's not that I didn't give this game a chance, graphics don't make or break a game.    … Expand

You have to stop firing to switch weapons and your specials are actually a separate weapon entirely, which means that to use your    This game is a perfect example of a hard 5.     The gameplay itself is... boring? I don't know, it's not bad or offensive. It's not really fun, though. You have to stop firing to switch weapons and your specials are actually a separate weapon entirely, which means that to use your special in the middle of a fight you have to do this:

    1. Stop firing
    2. Switch to the special you want to use by tapping O (twice if you want to use the SECOND special)
    3. Use the special
    4. Tap triangle to switch back to your first weapon so you can fire again

    It's just clunky. The shark character is a perfect example of these poorly thought out control schemes and mechanics. One of her specials is a grappling hook to traverse quickly. Cool, great! Except, again, to use it, you have to stop firing. And then you have to HOLD the grappling hook button for a second, not just tap it because she actually has a SECOND mechanic tied to L1 which is a worthless mid-air shield-flip. This means that you can't actually use your grappling hook to get out of danger reliably. Not to mention the fact that it's buggy as hell and you often end up attaching to something you weren't even aiming for.

    The entire game is full of crap like this. Kudos to the artists, but this game kinda sucks. This isn't even getting into the fact that it's a total F2P grind just to unlock weapons. Very glad it was free to try and would not recommend purchasing this game at all once it leave PS+.    … Expand

    No i'm not "dissing the game for it's graphics" as the 10/10 guy claims. I'm dissing this game for being unbalanced!
    This game is an absolute joke. The developer obviously rushed this game 100% and put zero effort into it.

    I'm sure the game designer watched the terrible movie Middle School and copied the childish art style the kid uses in it when drawing in his note pad.

    The game has a constant annoying voice over, the dialog is cringe worthy, out dated and embarrassing. The humor is suited to 14 year old skaters in the 90's who think swearing is cool and grown up.

    I was embarrassed playing the game, I felt pity for the developer who had this as his 'grand vision'. It must be awful for him having no originality and been so boring and predictable.

    Graphics are terrible, sound is terrible, art style is terrible and also the gameplay is terrible.

    It's basically a very weak 3rd person arena shooter. It's boring, you run round the arena trying to make out what everything is, shoot someone or get shot and repeat. There's no progression, no reason to carry on playing.

    I'm actually offended by how bad this game is. After 15 mins of playing (sitting through the long loading screens for most of it), I uninstalled. I very nearly cancelled PS+ but remembered I need it to play real games online.

    So avoid this game and please please don't spend any money on it, you will just be funding a lazy developer to make more dross and unimaginative games to rip off hard working gamers.    … Expand

    So, i decided to give this game a chance. I mean, i like Jeff's work. He made GoW, do i need to say more? He also made Twisted Metal, an awesome game as well. So i download the game and first thing i noticed: Another game that wants to give that "Punk" vibe feeling...I have nothing against this, but it's not something really original.     Anyway, i select tutorial and start to play. Now, keep this in mind, i am someone that likes to joke on other people...a lot. Even though i know how to keep my bearings and i never offend other players online or anything like that. This might sound like a stupid statement, but really...i kinda got bothered at how frequently the game tries too hard to treat you like an a**hole. Calling you names (even as far to offend our dear and beloved mothers) and it just felt...weird. It gave me the impression that i was playing a mod or something made by an 14-year old that just learned how to swear at people...
    Anyway, the gameplay it's solid. A lot of different weapons and special abilities from different characters, but again...how is this something new? People that experienced games like TF2 or Overwatch are well aware of different characters with different abilities and such. not that this game is like any of these games i mentioned, they're not. But still...nothing really original. The weapons, though varied as they are, makes me feel like i'm playing Sunset Overdrive, which, in turn makes me feel like i'm playing Ratchet and Clank...And i DEFINETELY prefer R&C over any of these games.
    After finishing the tutorial you can choose your character and customize his loadout and etc. however the game doesn't really give you a lot of explanation on how each character differs from the other besides some brief description with their special abilities and their Cons and Pros against other characters, so you'll have to test them by yourself and figure out how they play, which is not a bad thing...i think.
    Anyway, i finished the tutorial, chose my character and went to play online. Spent 2 or 3 min waiting for someone and the game puts me with other 2 players...i didn't really care about that because i thought it would be a free-for all match...but i was wrong...
    The game puts me in one team - The Blue Team - and puts the other 2 guys together to fight against me.
    ......First match ever, in less than 20 minutes that i'm playing the game and i'm already playing Online against 2 other dudes that pretty much rekt me over and over and over and over again...
    No one joined my team mid-session because, as far as i can see there's not a lot of people playing this game online. That was enough reason to just quit the game and stop playing.
    Drawn to Death isn't an original game, nor it is funny or fun. It's a below average Third-Person Shooter with good but shallow mechanics and unexciting gameplay. Thankfully (or not) i got this game for "free" since i am (for now) a PS Plus member. Apparently SONY was aware of how average this game was to the point of throwing this at our face with this month's PS Plus free games.
    Once again Sony is treating us like idiots, maybe more so than a frog that constantly calls you an "Idiot" and a "D*ick" in this game when you play the Tutorial Section. I can't help but feel like i am truly an idiot, for spending my time downloading this abomination and for giving SONY my money for a whole year of PS Plus.

    + Art-Style is interesting. Nothing really exciting, however
    + Solid gameplay mechanics, even though they're not original at all
    + Weapon types are quite varied

    - Simple and shallow game-modes
    - Repetitive and boring gameplay
    - Do i need to be called a "D*ick" "A**hat" "Idiot" and "W*nker" at every 30 seconds? And worst of all, by the game itself and not the players????
    - Uneven matchmaking that will definetely troll you more than the game itself
    - 2 vs 1 in my first match is not something that gave me a good impression of this game

    I'm being honest here. Don't buy this game. If you're a PS Plus member then give it a try, but i'll warning you: You'll likely regret it. Stick with your Battlefield, CoD, Uncharted or TLoU...
    Fanboys will surely hate my Review and Score...i couldn't care less.    … Expand

    After the initial humor plays itself out you're left with a mediocre action combat game. It gets boring quickly and the incentive to continue playing is minimal. The controls feel clunky and the learning curve is steep. Im glad the game was free and sure as hell won't be spending money on mystery boxes. I give it a 5 because it is fun until you realize that it isn't.

    Con: Artstyle unique, but dreary, controlls are bad, animations are bad, time to kill is way to long, some weapons are useless, microtransactions, maps way to small, just 2v2 and 1v1 modes, gets boring after a couple of hours (1 - 3), getting keys takes to long, humor is very bad (e.g. insulting the player), the whole game is unbalanced.     this is probably the best game i have never played, its not a joke i think its perfect, its frenetic and you have to use your brain, not like cod or btf or some modern "fps" this is a real good game, it have only onething worth, there probably only 4 people in all over the globe who play thi beuty

    It can be enjoyable but is riddle with a unbearable main screen which makes navigating a real pain, and the actual helper that is suppose to give you advice is more than annoying in many ways. And the matchmaking system took forever to load players. Also during my brief time with the game it crashed, and stopped working about 3-4 times in 2 hours - Unacceptable.

    It has a unique art-style and some neat mechanics...but that's it. The game runs terribly, is full of network issues, and super cringe-worthy writing. It's a shame, because it could have been decent, but it completely failed.

    The art style was unique, it had over the top characters with tons of personality, the gameplay was decent enough... And I was able to play only one match and against only a single adversary. I don't know what happened, but the game was dead on delivery and although it had a ton of good things going for it, the population died very quickly and very little was done to change it. A big letdown.

    Great fast paced game! Fresh and unique, does need work but overall I will buy it in the spot if ever comes available again. Much like XIII game on ps2 long missing
