This game is a lot of fun, and easily my favorite of the three Dragon Age games, but after having logged over 100 hours in the game over 2 playthroughs so far...there are a few issues that have worn on me over the course of my time, and now really annoy me.

This game is a lot of fun, and easily my favorite of the three Dragon Age games, but after having logged over 100 hours in the game over 2 playthroughs so far...there are a few issues that have worn on me over the course of my time, and now really annoy me.

First...the story. I'm probably somewhere around 75% through the story at this point, so no clue how it ends, but as it stands now...the game starts off slow but quickly gets very interesting and has a really powerful ending to the first act. I've not run many more story missions since then, as I've been busy exploring all the zones they offer. In that time, here are my main criticisms with the game:

    1. Itemization. In short...it sucks in this game. There are so many zones that require roughly the same level range, that by the time you venture to all of them, you end up getting unique items that are worse than what you already use. You end up getting a lot of the same crap items over and over throughout the course of your exploration. Cassandra is still using a unique armor from Hinterlands, and I've cleared all but 3 zones and have killed 4 dragons. Schematic drops are also stingy, and Tier 3 start dropping far too late in the game imo.

    2. Climbing Hills. Good lord, whoever programmed the vertical exploration of this game is really sadistic. Feels so amateurish when you jump on a seemingly manageable slope and your character grabs at air like you're scaling a mountain, as you slide down to the bottom. Hills with very similar slopes can either deny you, allow you, or straight up throw an invisible wall at you. It's pretty sloppy and inconsistent.

    3. Obstacles, Obstacles everywhere! What is the point of using a mount? They put so many rocks and tree roots all over the ground, all of which your mount is completely incapable of traversing smoothly, that you'll end up wearing out your "giddyup" button while using your mount. Quite annoying. I've also been "caught" by objects on the ground countless times while running around during battle and such.

    4. Aggressive Wildlife vs Passive Wildlife. Walking along, minding my own business, when suddenly a Fennec or Nug runs past me...and surprise surprise...there goes a wolf or something chasing it. It alerts my party, putting me in combat, but the wolf runs off into to the distance and out of my range quickly. Sometimes I can sneak in a grapple, but not always. This happens so much that the wildlife ends up being a natural snare for the group, constantly throwing me into combat mode and forcing me to disengage all the time. Bleh.

    5. Game is overly bloated with busywork. Mid game feels like a grind to remove items from your map, vs doing anything meaningful. I miss the early game at the moment.

All in all, this game has consumed my wife and I's life for the last week and a half, and is pretty awesome overall...but over the course of 100+ hours with the game, the above complaints really start to wear thin on you...or me at least. Then again, I've logged that 100+ hours for a reason...it's an amazing game thus far, and these annoyances are no where near enough to push me away from continuing onward. Definitely recommend the game.

The characters are super interesting (especially Cole). the gameplay is kind of like if you were to take the idea of the elder scrolls oblivion gates and mix them into a bioware game. run around close gates, explore hidden caves and build up your fortress. Thats pretty much it. The crafting is VERY awesome. its a turn int he right direction for bioware. Expand

I bought this game strictly off reading reviews and I must say that it was a good call. Although I haven't finished the game yet I would say I have put a good amount of time in it. I never played Dragon Age 2 so I can't call this better or worse. The story's pretty good. There are some smaller problems that bother me a little bit. Some cinematic talk scenes have audio issues were background conversations will be overheard rather than not being able to hear the main conversation you're trying to have with someone. Some characters won't open their mouths when they talk. On a different topic, I wish they would of put some mini games in for things like lock picking. I'm not a fan of the holding down one button for combat but the abilities you gain on the way make it a lot more fun. There has been problems with completing missions. On more than one occasion, I have done a quest and when going to complete it, I could not speak with the person to end it. I later came back to it and it let me enter the dialog but was very irritating. Exploration is always fun and they give you a lot to look for and lots of different locations to explore. Even though the maps not as big as Skyrim per say, they did a good job of having a lot to do. The battles get a lot more intense over a good amount of time which makes it that much more addicting to play. Overall the game I think is worth a buy. I don't think its a game of the year but its definitely worth a nomination. Expand

Dragon Age Inquisition is a very good game. You really feel as though you are affecting the world constantly. However it didn't quite live up to all the promise it had. In demo' sat E3 & pax they showed things that never appeared in game, such as telling soldiers in a battle to save a town or to attack and then living with the consequences. However your decisions in this game mattered none the less. You truly feel as if you are the head of an organization that is helping this world be a better place.

The world itself is probably the biggest game on next gen so far. It consists of atleast 10 massive location from deserts to Forrest's to plains. The opponents are also varied as are the dragons. This game also has the best crafting system I have seen in a game. You can have dozens of furs, cloths, metals, or gems that all do different things to different armor or weapons you craft. The story isn't the best story ever, and the villain is dumbed down a bit. But the game isn't about the villain. It's about you and your followers, you build relationships with them all and delve into their pasts and their hopes and dreams. Based on the choices you make for them they can become a much different person from one play through to the next.

This game also has hours upon hours of content. If you are one of those gamers that likes to 100% everything plan to play this game for 100's of hours. I put in over 200+ hrs on 2 speedster play throughs and didn't even do half the quests.

The leveling system is ok but not great and I wish the skill trees branched out a little more. The combat could of been a little more complex but it satisfies none the less.

At the end of the day as of right now dragon age is the best rpg on PS4 (transistors a close 2nd but it's too short) in terms of content you can't get more bang for your buck, and it's just fun. If you like RPG's you can't go wrong with this game. If your going to buy one game this year, if it was me, this would be it.

I did love the environments and the random loot generation(to a point)and the dragon fights are great. Still one of the best games I've played this year. Definitely worth a purchase in my opinion

Heart: I loved this game, and I played it through twice, got platinum trophy, and clocked up something like 160 hours overall. It was a lot of fun. Probably the most I've that enjoyed a game since Skyrim. The world is beautiful, the characters are well written, the graphics are fine. Fans of the DragonAge mythology with enjoy developments and discoveries that are intriguing. Finally, the DragonAge Keep deserves a mention - an excellent way to personalise the game experience (even if it doesn't make that much difference in reality).

Brain: "Doesn't make that much difference" hits the nail on the head. This game masquerades as a choice-led rpg, but actually the way you play makes hardly any difference. I obviously noticed this a lot more in my second play through, and it was disappointing when the game progressed and ended exactly the same except for a few slides at the end. There's no way to steer the fate of the Chantry, or influence the events of the world, or the opinions of characters, or do anything of any importance except for the one (admittedly cleverly disguised) linear storyline. I didn't feel like the politically powerful, string-pulling leader I was supposed to be. Finally, the lack of any "evil" story-arc options was disappointing. You could be good-good, sarcastic-good', or grumpy-good.

In conclusion I'd give this an 8. It falls short of Origins, but it's a lot better than DA2, and despite it all I did really enjoy it and that's what gaming is about right? Just a shame they didn't push the boundaries with this one.

This is a very good game. Some of the side quests are dull but every RPG game in history has the same problem. Controls are quirky in bigger battles but still not bad. It is worth the money. Very few games on the PS4 can claim that. Its not perfect but a great game.

There are many negatives. Tedious missions. Repetitive battles. Jogging around mountains and barren landscapes for long periods of time... didn't they have at least horse and buggy transportation? The battle system is usually boring... easy foes don't need your attention, let AI take care of it... hard battles require you to go into "strategic mode": stop time, tell each of your party members what to do (heal, attack, inflict paralysis or shock, etc.), you heal carefully, avoid the moves of the boss monsters. Actually, some people may consider these two methods of fighting useful and helpful over the final fantasy kind of wait-your-turn to do something for everything from the most trivially weak monster to the grandest boss. For me, it means that 90% of the time, AI handles it.

Overall, I give it an 8/10. Sure, it's an interesting game, but it takes so damn long to do anything. I'll recommend this game sparingly. Buy it if you like all sorts of quests, lots of traveling around, and not too big of a focus on fighting.

As a consequence, this amazing world full of stories and politic conspiracies, may sound more complex than it actually is, especially for new comers in the series.

    Pros:

    Incredibly deep game

Massive world with lots of open areas (very few invisible walls)

    Great story, lore and characters

Very good graphics and art direction

Seamless transition between in and outdoors

    Addicting multiplayer

    Cons:

Everything is too schematic ('you picked 1 out of 10 herbs' kind of linearity). Imprevisibility is what makes exploration in other RPGs, like Elder Scrolls, more addicting,

The scan system in many recent games kills the immersion. At certain point, all you do is press constantly the scan button hoping for the items to pop up. Again, Bethesda games make you actually explore the environments without the need for unnatural tricks.

Unnecessary complex codex (descriptions, and the related pics, should be more direct and explanatory)

    No day/night cycle.

The entire game plays out like an apology letter for DA2 featuring heavy customization and beautiful scenery (This is probably one of the better looking RPG's you'll play) but this beautiful attempt at reconciliation with hardcore RPGrs misses the mark by creating a bloated story that seems a little too fantastic for their 'Dark Fantasy' pitch they've been trying to sell (The characters can seem a little wishy-washy and lacking any sort of edge or opinion that goes against the majority). Still, it's a diamond in the rough and it sets it's hooks into you fairly easy if you're not already predisposed to hating it.

It's a solid attempt and I don't regret buying it in the slightest. I think a lot of people just hate it on principle because of Bioware's past blunders (Being anti-gg, Dragon Age 2, selling out to EA, ham-fisting *diversity* in their games ). Others just blindly cling to the nostalgia of Dragon Age: Origins and refuse to admit it is anything less than the perfect game. So be wary of some of the user reviews.

The main story is engaging and compels you to want to reach the next chapter, though it easy to become happily distracted by side-quests in the open world. Characters are well written and revealed with an artistic subtlety. The choices made by your character have a meaningful impact both on other characters and on the world.
You’ll probably have about 120 hours worth of content for full completionists.

Warning: While I was satisfied with the main game, I was deeply disappointed with the Multiplayer (Unthoughtful levels and character progression; repetitive objectives; poorly constructed dialogue – loads of one liners that do more to remind you of the 2-dimenionality of your characters than anything else), and only moderately entertained by the DLC Trespasser (Short, Linear, forcing characters into unnatural states – no spoiler here, you’ll see if you buy it, but with a good ending).

Overview: Dragon Age inquisition is a better than Dragon Age 2 but still doesn't live up to Dragon Age Origins.
The visuals are the best in the series with characters actually looking human (even though they always look like they've been in the rain) and each person you meet has a little personality which is brought on by the stellar voice acting and facial expressions.

Gameplay: The gameplay is quite varied this time round, you can either play it like DA2 with the hack n slash approach or play it tactically with the new battle menu system which gives you a birds eye view so you can micromanage your units. I personally play both, I use the battle menu to plan my initial attack such as my mage will drop a barrier and my archer will target long range and then I go headlong into the fray making battles quick and easy. The mage class suffers from the new battle system though, one of the things that DA2 got right was mage combat it was fun and you felt powerful. In DAI it's boring as hell, if you want to have fun I suggest being a warrior or a rouge.

Character Customisation: Character customisation is the best it's ever been will the addition of sliders meaning you can make a work of art or a bloody monster as you wish, my only problem is the hair styles still suck with none looking like they belong to a living creature.
Selecting your race is also back and a welcome addition, you can be a Human, Elf, Dwarf and even a Qunari this time round, although the addition of the Qunari is a good thing I feel the development was underdone, the armour available sucks especially helmet wise with those awful "vitars" and the movements in cut scenes and combat feels awkward, I believe the addition of the Qunari was a last minute thing for fan service.

Voice acting: The main character speaks like in DA2 and this is a massive pitfall in the character creation because you can choose between two voices for all races, either the American voice actor (who is terrible) or a really posh sounding English actor, The English actor is the better voice actor but his voice only suits the Human and maybe the Elf, While neither the American or the British voice actors suit the Dwarves or the Qunari. Every other dwarf in the DA series has most been Scottish sounding while all the Qunari had really deep voices that sound powerful and cool. Instead of choosing between two they should have had one for each race which actually suited the race. (Take note that I don't know what the females sound like)

The World: The world of Thedas is absolutely beautiful, I would live there war and all, the wild life looks and feels like it belongs, the wind rustles the trees and varied pallet of colours soothes the senses, but it feels empty, there isn't much to see in most areas besides wilderness as far as the eye can see broken up with the odd town or two. I think they chose the wrong areas for the game to take place, Orlais was my last choice for a place I wanted to visit, I wanted to see Tervinter or Antiva because there isn't much difference between Ferelden and Orlais and those god awful accents (Jesus Christ!). I would also like to see places I've been in previous games, you see Redcliff and that's about it, where's Orzamar or Denerim or even Kirkwall, big things happened in those places because of your actions in the previous games and I would like to see the result but alas we are restricted to hanging around with the bloody French.

Companions: The companions and supporting cast of DAI are all different and for the most part good characters, unfortunately like DA2 quite a few of your companions are terrible characters, the two I hate the most are Vivienne and Sera (Sera by far being the worst character ever) those two must have been designed to annoy you because they suffer from a rare and debilitating illness called **** syndrome.
The other characters though: Dorian, Iron Bull, Cassandra, Solas, Cole,Varric and Blackwall are all highly interesting and likeable characters with their own quirks like real people. Bioware outdid themselves with the character personalities making them feel real.

Things to do: The world of DAI is vast and there is no shortage of things to do, you can do the main quest, hunt dragons, spread your armies influence or even explore, but the side quests are almost always menial fetch quests, there are fetch quests bloody everywhere. And which developer do I have to punch in the face for that Drufalo quest!

Dragon Age Keep: The keep is one of the best ideas they had, people want to see how their choices affect Thedas but the games are long so most people wont bother, this allows you to change things quick and easy if a bit arduous at times.

Summary: Dragon Age Inquisition is a game I recommend playing for the story and the characters and if your a fan, I love it but I have to take it with a pinch of salt and I still play it today on my 3rd playthrough now.

Oh,god, this was a long journey. Very addictive game,i finished campaign but i wanted to do lots of side stuff, even though i usually don't do that. Main quests are good, the game is very very long, but it is not boring, missions have some variety, and the world is beautiful.

Well after spending over 100 hours on the game
1.good graphics, though armor and characters lack a bit in graphics.
    2. Game is divided into areas like previous dragon age games.. and trust me each area is big and beautiful. 3. Each area has a story related to it.. which i felt was good move by dev. 4 skill trees, crafting weapon and potion is good as well And at higher difficulties

4 skill trees, crafting weapon and potion is good as well And at higher difficulties you will have to make use of it as merchant selling weapons and even weapons found arent that powerful.
    5. Main quest is awesome with a nice story and world changes around you with each main mission But its sad that main quest doesnt have too many quests.
6 side quests are plenty in the games but thats where developers have seriously messed it up. It feels like that side quests have been just put just because they had to.. 99 percent are damn boring, with only thing u gain from them is power( which is required for main quests) and few things for your inventory ofcourse but no fun at all.
7 combat is fun, and better is u can try each and every type of skill with so many players availaible in your party, you wont feel missed in combat for sure.
    8. Exploration is fun.. but lack of interesting side quests makes you feel that why am i exploring. Even interesting places are less, which give you feeling, wow now thats interesting..except for dragons though which you will find when you explore and a very few places. places are just beautiful with nothing intersting to do.
    9. Enemies arent very great, and are repeated. With only slight varitations, interesting demons etc are very limited.
    10. Even secrets in the game are very less and npc are very badly designed.. with many just sitting or standing like statues with no movement whatsoever.
so verdict is.. its more interesting when u r playing it linearly with concentration on main quest, dont expect much from side quests, there are few companion quest which ar bit better but dey usually start with collectiin etc which is too boring, combat is wonderful and infact one of best thing in the game, enemies not that great, weapons armor etc are normal. there is also one more feature where you send your allies for some tasks using maps which also i think is interesting but again more interesting for main plot then for side quests. So overall good game with nice combat, nice areas, good amount of dragons to kill, nice main story but poor side quests.
