I love the series however, the game stoped working after several weeks of play on my PS3 and wouldn't load. I contacted electronic arts and ps store who told me I couldn't have a refund even though the game doesn't work. What a rip off! No time for this. I also have a ps4 and could have played it on there but if course you have to buy the game a second time to do this. I played this for the first week or two when it came out and put at least 20+ hours into it.

Firstly, the good: The game world, the story, the side missions, the graphics and the sound are all excellent. While playing, I was thinking "why would anyone give this anything less than a 7 out of 10?" since it was so engaging and with so much to do. The main problem I have with this game

The main problem I have with this game is the combat itself and the character progression, two very important elements of an action-RPG.

Combat: it really feels as though there is no real skill involved, you just spam buttons and the same moves repeatedly. I never felt the need to use the tactical view as it wasn't really necessary. At first the combat was fine, but eventually after many hours it did start to feel repetetive, and even when changing classes i found that it wasn't very exciting or interesting.

Character progression: You have quite limited options to change your characters abilities or specialisations. The loot system is entirely underwhelming with such a lack of interesting armor/weapons. An RPG is all about customising your team, but in DA:I you have limited options in doing so and that was disappointing. All characters and classes felt very much alike, and it doesn't seem to matter which character you use, as long as you have a 'tank', a 'healer' and two 'DPS' in your team.

Overall, I like the game but eventually I did get bored and haven't finished the story. It didn't hook me in like DA:O or many others, but it is a solid game.

Nice looking game, but it's an SJW's wet dream.
Imagine children playing it.... (m rated be damned) too much subversive SJWism. It's one thing to have women leaders. It's another to remove all men. The game felt like a grinder profile. We already have a Caitlin Jenner. We don't need it in our games

game gets boring pretty quickly. The game need cooler and funner to use abilities, specially on the warrior class. the Templar, Reaver and Champion classes are not fun to use at all. My rating for the game play is 2/10 but as far as graphics and story line go I'd give it a 9/10. This game comes across as a failed attempt to try and duplicate skyrim.

THE BAD: This game really seemed to lacked on combat. I didn't like how mages have to use staffs of certain elements to do magic, and the combat was just really bland. I also didn't like how, say, a Templar Knight enemy has crazy amounts of health, when if you played a Templar knight, you would be at a disadvantage because they made the game a party dependent game. You can't do anything without your party, and I absolutely hated that. I prefer games where you can just solo groups of enemies, if you want to. I realise you don't "have" to take a party with you, but you're pretty much screwed if you don't. The only way to solo any group of enemy in that game is if you went with the Champion line on warrior.
    THE GOOD: Amazing story.

Contender for most overrated game of the last 20 years. This game is just not good. Nothing about it is good. It is so boring, that I stopped playing around 20 hours in, left it for a month, came back and could only stand to play 4 hours before quitting again. I really want to like this game but it has no redeeming qualities. It is a adventure MMO with very light rpg elements thrown in just to be able to label it an RPG. Customization is narrow and the story... oh my god the boring story and worthless characters. Imagine the worst MMO you ever played, with forgettable characters, cheap fetch quests over and over, meaningless plot development, and classes with "I win" buttons. That is DA:I to the letter. Even graphics, which are supposed to be incredible are ugly except maybe the environment. I hate the shiny finish everything has but I will let that go. The worst part of this game is gameplay. DA:I forces you into a story that you cannot really influence. You play it their way or you are SOL. For instance, in the winter palace, they actually put a timer on you to finish the quest when all I wanted to do was kill everyone in the palace. I actually wanted the assassins to win because I hated the other side. Do you have a choice in the matter? Nope. This is why it does not feel like an RPG. Nothing you do matters regardless of choice and the entire plot is very linear despite trying to fool you with a plethora of side quests and large psuedo-open maps. You either do as you are told or you lose. Back to gameplay, Mages and Warriors are poorly balanced. Mages can beat the entire game on any difficulty with 1 button (maybe 2 in case of emergency). Same with warriors. Rogues are absolutely attrocious because of all the melee AOE enemies in the game and their lack of survivability. Their only choice is to be archer which is fine to stay alive but they are so weak that they cant do anything on their own. Enemies get stuck while getting attacked, and so do your allies. You allies do not follow commands when told to do so. There is no strategy at all in this game. Crafting is worthless so far (25 hours in and the stuff i found is much better than anything I can craft). The loot system sucks the big one.

I have nothing good to say about this game except that it works and does not crash very much. I wish I could get a full refund.

Yes, it's a good game but it's not a game of the year. I'm really upset by graphics and clunky gameplay. I thought it would be something like AC graphics but I really have an impression to play an unfinished MMO game. It's a pity for the next gen. The mage/templar plot dominates the beginning of the game which slows it down if you didnt like it from DA2. Dragon fights are a bore with them getting stuck or spamming one ability for the entire fight. Most of your choices boil down to nothing, as expected from bioware.

Be warned, after all the patches and sticking to mostly flat ground, your horse can still sink into the ground and rocks. Loot drops for some inquisitor requisitions side missions are broken with you not being able to complete some of them. Also, the enemies scaling among their own level is screwy once you get deeper into the game. One notable example from this morning was a mage that took 2 minutes to beat while his warrior companions took less than 5 swings and this was a standard non quest mob.

Most of the games time is padded out waiting for characters and the game catching up with the dialogue and walking/riding around the map. This is on top of load screens sometimes approaching skyrim's in length.

If you can, grab this as a returned copy or wait about a month for the used ones to flood the stores. The game is broken, the team didnt see to care too much, this is my last pre-order bioware game.

I feel disappointed with the game
    - the battles are plain boring, playing rogue with bow, you stand there and just fire away
    - the missions have ok stories, but in the end you still run around and do minor errands, pretty repetetive

I had expected just a bit of the tactics needed for Baldur's Gate and similar games

    • Pacing is horrible it gets better after about 20 hours sort of like Final Fantasy 13 but that's not really a strong suit

    • Multiplayer is like Dead Space 2 multiplayer in that it's boring and forgettable.

    • Quests are MMO type quests once again not a strong suit especially for a single player game

    • Bugs, bugs and oh yeah bugs. You'll need to keep a few saves. This is a beta, not a release. Don't listen to what they say - the quality of this game is late alpha or early beta quality at best.

Conclusion: I wouldn't pay full price for this It will come down in price shortly so wait

The ending is horribly plain they didnt learn anything from mass effect 3 it seems. The fighting mechanics were decent but i also miss the over the top spells like lightning storm or inferno. The dragon age keep was a great idea to keep the continuity of the story together. The boss battles?seemed oddly lacking in difficulty. I spent 135 hours on the game and felt cheated that i didnt even get to learn about what my npc characters or agents or my decisions did after the game was beaten. I mean did the mythal elves leave or teach their fellow elves? What happened in orlais other than you choose who the ruler was? What about the vints your attacking throughout half the game? Whats the effect on the killing of all the dragons in the local area? I'm of the opinion the main game should have been longer with more actual game play and less war table crap that didnt matter as time filler...lastly ill just say this if your expecting a rich immersive story like baldurs gate...you wont get it.... a storyline at captivating as ff7 ...nope...... the next story to keep you plodding along in the dragon age world...yes you'll find that. It really seems as if Bioware was determined not to make any part of it half-assed at all. Also, to allow the player to do everything how he or she wants to.

Don't mind the people giving this game a 0. SOME might have actually played some of it but, they are probably shallow, simple-minded gamers who just can't handle a game of complexity. They probably can't handle very much reading either. I guess if instead it was a children's pop-up book or something they would enjoy it.

This is why metacritic user scores are a joke. This game is amazing. Anyone giving it a zero is skewing the results way too far down. This his may not be your cup of tea, maybe it's a ltittle buggy, maybe you don't like the PC controls, whatever the reason saying that the work they put into this is a zero shows the absurdity of the ratings. This is the best RPG I have played in years.

I had heard through the grapevine that this game was also going to suffer from Bioware's ability to dumb down their games but I bought it none the less.

I prayed that hopefully there would finally be an original game I could play on my PS4 to make it worth the purchase but once again I have not found that game. The worst part is that this game has the potential to be up there with the greatest games ever made but it hasn't for me in my opinion, and I wanted to share why.

    Pro's

-This Game is stunning Visually, it takes my breath away with how amazing it looks, it blows my mind. It is so beautiful and the landscapes are amazing. The people that worked on making the game look nice really deserved that paycheck.

-Open World areas. The one thing that would've made DA:O a perfect ten was probably the fact that almost everything was closed in and linear when you arrive at a location. This game is wonderful at being so free in that regard.

-It's massive. Considering the copy paste of DA:2 settings over and over again for battles and locations, this thing is immense. Spending hours upon hours on one map that was created for a side mission is awesome.

    Con's

-They removed healing spells. That may not sound like a biggie, but it is to me. They added a cool tactical display that sort of gets ruined by the lack of ability to create tactics in this streamlined game. No longer can I heal myself and their excuse was basically 'People are dumb and don't know tactics'... well **** a duck...

-Limited Characterization. At least compared to the two previous games. Growing a character that is shoehorned into boring abilities with lack of customization compared to what we are used to is just lack luster.

-Removal of most of the inventory. Potions are handled separately, recipes are handled seperately, it's just god awful. The User Interface makes me want to slam my head into a wall.

-Cardboard characters. Who designed these characters? They are god awful. The new ones I mean, the ones from previous games are still awesome but most of the new ones (Especially the female ones are truly baffling). It seems everyone one I want to romance is gay or just doesn't want to make babies with me, just like real life.

-No threat/Storyline is lacking. I'm walking through the Hinterlands, swinging a sword at random nugs and admiring the beauty of the world they created while everyone I meet tells me the world is ending... Hell I haven't seen it. They keep talking about the breach from the start of the game but it doesn't effect me on any level. The last two games had more threat than the lovely green rifts that I can handle without breaking a sweat.

-Less Tactics Management. In the last two games there was a very detailed way to customize the A.I. to fight the way you want. You don't get that here for your characters.

-Towns feel empty. Even when they are filled with people... weird as that sounds it is true. You don't really talk to anyone, there is not many shops, choices to be had, or much to do. It's beautiful but empty.

-Horrible writing. I know I sort of already said this with the storyline, but seriously this game takes the piss when it comes to the writing for the characters. I mean somehow I became the Hero at the start of the game even though I didn't really do anything.

-Demographic. Bioware don't seem to know what their target demographic is. It's like they want to check all the boxes and in the process alienate their core audience (Or at least the ones that loved DA:O), and I believe that to some people this is their cup of tea or slice of cake. A lovely casual game because thinking is too hard. But being a lover of this genre of game makes me sad. Why? Because I want these visuals and this amount of effort put into something that is not streamlined for people who barely know how to turn on a light switch.

If it wasn't for the bugs this game could have been great. Nothing game breaking (though I had two crashes), but they're noticable almost everywhere you go and they're annoying.

But let's talk about the gameplay. The combat is great. You can pause a battle and have (almost) full control over the situation. Choices actually matter and have consequences. And the game world is gorgeous.

The character customization is the best that I've seen in an RPG so far (pretty sure PC elitists will correct me on that). You can craft and modify gears, which comsumes materials. Depending on what kind of materials you use it affects the bonuses of each crafted gear.

The main cast is a mixed bag. I like the cast from previous entries much more. (Some characters from previous entries will make a comeback.)

One thing I really hate about the gameplay is that you cannot longer assign points to your attributes when leveling up.

But overall I'm having fun. For those of you who wants a more polish experience you might want to wait for a patch or two.

Getting this out of the way, of course, if you don't like fantasy RPGs, you won't like this, but if that grabs you, you can't go wrong with DAI! This is my Game of the Year so far.

    Pros:
*I'm new to Dragon Age, but I feel like i mostly grasp what's going on, and never felt left behind for having not played Origins or DA2.
*Environments and characters are rendered beautifully. Sure, there's an awkward body movement every once in a while, but overall, I'm seriously impressed, especially by the water on the Storm Coast!
*I love the dialogue options, and the enormous freedom of choice in terms of what your inquisitor is going to be and do.
*The blend of combat, and again, the choice of how you approach it is really refreshing. You can increase or decrease the difficulty whenever, the overhead, tactical view is useful sometimes, and just running into battle is more action'y, and is good other times.
*I think the keyword for this game is choice. There are so many choices well beyond the superficial, "What does he/she look like? What class? What race?" The amazing questions to answer are: "What does he/she believe? Why is he/she doing this? Will he/she fall in love, and with whom? Does he/she believe there's some higher purpose? How does he/she think a society should be run?" It's all fascinating, and so far, I can't get enough.
*Game stability. This shouldn't be a thing, but lately, games have launched broken, and such is not the case with DAI. Sure, there are little glitches every once in a while, but in my experience, this game is polished, and, dare I say, actually finished before it releases?
*Crafting feels awesome, and material grinding is not terribly repetitive! There are so many things to pick up all the time, everywhere. I rarely feel downtrodden as if I'll never find what I need.

    Cons:
*Tactical cam doesn't work very well in some situations, like cramped rooms or caverns.
*Inventory and character management in menus isn't perfect. I wish I could equip items after buying them while in the same merchant screen. I wish some things were clearer. I wish they would've called the "valuables" tab the "junk" tab, because that's what it is, and it would've spared me some head-scratching.

It's well worth $60, and is a nice change from $60 Destiny. Try playing this for 30 hours, then go back to Destiny and tell me you don't feel ripped off.

Wow. This game overcame my greatest expectations. For the first hour or so of gameplay, it left me a bit confused, not because it's unclear or misguiding, but because there is SO much to do and so many new features to discover it literally makes your head spin at first. And that's a good thing. The game is very deep, unveils an amazing (and customizable) story line, has compelling characters, a vast and beautiful open world, rewarding combat system (it's the perfect mix of DA:O and DA2) and incredible next gen graphics.

One of the most interesting aspects is the same one I didn't really like at first; To continue the main quest chain, you have to unlock it by spending ''Power'' points you get by completing side quests and other open world tasks. What's great about it, is that it forces you to explore the world and see what the side quests have to offer. I usually stick to the story quests and go through a game in 15 hours or so and end up disappointed that it wasn't longer. With Inquisition, I finished my first playthrough after a whopping 60 hours of gameplay, and I didn't do all the sidequests.

Get the game, take your time to explore everything it has to offer and I promise you won't regret it.

I managed to pick this game up on sale (66$AU eb sale) and I would have gladly paid full price for it. There is sooooo much to do!! The character creation is mind blowing...I want to play again so I can make a new character. Really fun. There are tons of collectables and side quests. I have logged about 10-15 hours into this game so far. I have played through origins, da2, sw:kotor's, mass effects. First off I would have to say I am glad I got this for ps4 over pc. The characters are super interesting (especially Cole). the gameplay is kind of like if you were to take the idea of the elder scrolls oblivion gates and mix them into a bioware game. run around close gates, explore hidden caves and build up your fortress. Thats pretty much it. The crafting is VERY awesome. its a turn int he right direction for bioware. Expand

I bought this game strictly off reading reviews and I must say that it was a good call. Although I haven't finished the game yet I would say I have put a good amount of time in it. The graphics look really good and the game play is okay. The game play itself can get boring at times but all the different scenarios you encounter through the game makes it a lot less of a bore. I never played Dragon Age 2 so I can't call this better or worse. The story's pretty good. There are some smaller problems that bother me a little bit. Some cinematic talk scenes have audio issues were background conversations will be overheard rather than not being able to hear the main conversation you're trying to have with someone. Some characters won't open their mouths when they talk. On a different topic, I wish they would of put some mini games in for things like lock picking. I'm not a fan of the holding down one button for combat but the abilities you gain on the way make it a lot more fun. There has been problems with completing missions. On more than one occasion, I have done a quest and when going to complete it, I could not speak with the person to end it. I later came back to it and it let me enter the dialog but was very irritating. Exploration is always fun and they give you a lot to look for and lots of different locations to explore. Even though the maps not as big as Skyrim per say, they did a good job of having a lot to do. The battles get a lot more intense over a good amount of time which makes it that much more addicting to play. Overall the game I think is worth a buy. I don't think its a game of the year but its definitely worth a nomination. Expand

A really good game, ridiculous amounts of content... Clocked up around 100 hours playtime i think...

Narrative wasnt great tbh and i found the difficulty not to be particularly challenging (i played with a party of four mages and with barrier equipped on each i basically didnt get hit)

Graphics were ok, but not amazing...

I was a fan of Dragon Age series and was so much hyped for this game but it punched me hard.. This is a typical business game I would say, it's fixed in a model and has nothing creative. They say the world is huge, true, they say there are a hell lot of things you can do in the game, true, however, all of those are repetitively boring. I think I've almost lost my faith in Bioware..

Dragon Age Inquisition is a definite pickup for anyone who has a PS4. This is even more true if you have little to no games for it currently

Story - The story is basic. you had the luck of surviving an onslaught that no one at that time even knows the cause of. You are captured and questioned, as you are the only survivor of a fade rift opening. about 15 minutes into the game, you find out that you have the ability to close fade rifts, tears in the air that allow demons to invade our world. Using this new found power, you gather a force in a effort to close the fade rift, dealing with political, religious, and military problems along the way.

Character - the character is a Created person. You have the choice of human, elf, dwarf, and qunari (dragon/demon looking guys) each have their own special abilities and limitations. Almost everything is free reign in terms of creation, though funny colors for skin and the customization array of weaponry and armor are not in the game, but we will touch on that in gameplay.

Universe - The world this game creates is the best part This world feels complete, with caves, dungeons, ruins, towns, and landscape to explore. All while telling their own piece of the lore. There is a deeper are wide array of side stories through letters, books, and discoveries throughout the world that would appeal to the explorer gamer, the one who likes to pick apart the world their are playing in and see how everything runs, and every story that the game can tell. The best part is these specific side lore are completely optional, so those who wish to stay focused on the task at hand will not feel they are missing out on anything detrimental to the plot.

Cast - The characters that join your Inquisition are the heart and sole of the game. The chemistry between the different squad you run with makes every trip a fun time, as conversations between the characters occurs. This also makes you run with different people, mixing and matching to find both the squad that is best suited to take down a dragon, and the squad whose conversations are so entertaining you would run them during fetch missions.

Romance - this is a fairly weak part of the game. To put bluntly, for the guys out there, the most attractive female in the game (Liliana) cannot be romanced. The romance feels like a tack on simply for being a bioware game. While it feels more realistic in terms of defining who is homosexual, heterosexual, and bisexual, the lack of choices leaves most gamers picking the same one, which of course takes away from the game in a way. Mass Effect have a subclass of people based on their romance options, you had the guys who took tali, you had the guys who took miranda, you had the guys who took ashley, and so on. This is not the case in Inquisition, as in the case with male characters, most people pick Josephine, with the only other choice being Cassandra or taking the homosexual path.

Gameplay: This is both the strength and weakness of the game. The dual usage of the third person rush in guns blazing is available, as is a more strategic overview with order giving for the strategic people. Using both comes in handy, and adds that little extra froth to the combat, though that's really it. Most of combat revolves around (depending on your class) charging, aiming, or flanking, then holding the right trigger while occasionally pressing Square or Circle for power hits. Running around can get tiring, especially when you have to backtrack to an area you already cleared in order to get a couple elmroots for another fetch mission. If it wasn't for the occasional character interaction, this would be a lot worse than it is. Along with this comes the Bioware conversation piece, which features optional dialogue that is diverse in delivery. Unlike Mass Effect, which only featured Paragon or Renegade, Inquisition takes this a little deeper by not assigning good or bad to any of them. You can play the game truer to who you are, whether it be a mindless idiot who needs everything spelled out for them, or a violent fanatic who draws his blade at the slightest flinch. you can even be a flirt by running a romantic dialogue with any and everyone. This in term affects the people around you's opinion of you. While this holds no real significance in gameplay, the story will be slightly different in terms of interaction. Also if you piss someone off too much they will leave your party and you will never get them back for the rest of the game.

Overall the game is good and definitely a pickup if you do not have anything to play right now.

I enjoyed this game but i fully understand peoples concerns/negatives about it.

The main story is.. passable, i preferred the companion quests.
The (tavern) music is lovely and i very much enjoyed the banter your compaions would have during exploration.
I found the dragon battles to be a lot of fun.

Negatives: Just like DA2 i felt the main story lacked hard decisions or decisions which really effected the story long term.
You are given way to many side missions at the start of the game, and as im someone who has to complete all side missions before i move on, i was pretty much always 5 lvls above what you were suppose to be at throughout the game. Meaning i found all battles extremely easy and unrewarding.
The boss was the easiest battle in the game. (for me)
The war table missions seemed a lot more exciting that any of the side quests, its a shame all that is done off screen.

Overall I enjoyed it as i'm a fan of these kind of games and have always been a huge dragon age fan, but for people new to the series i can see them finding it slow and hard to get into.

I didn't even finish this game but it not that bad.
I am not 100% into RPG, it needs to be really good to get me into it.
However one of the main reasons I did not like and finish it, was because of the story and the missions. As somebody already mentioned, it is just like a checklist of things to do, even when there is a reason behind you don't feel the need to do it and find what is

Also the character development and personification is very poor and lack personality.
Graphics are good and there was potential for a great game.
If you are RGP fan you may enjoy it but don't hope anything new or fresh.

It took me a total of 116 hours to collect the platinum trophy for this game, and what a journey it was. This game is an incredibly beautiful RPG, and i enjoyed every second of my adventure. The story is fantastic, the side stories are just as great, and the action is fantastic, a MUST buy.
