Hands down, best game ever. The writing is great - high emotional impact on the midgame transition, and the ending/cliffhanger is phenomenal. I can't wait for the next game in the series - 130h of awesome storytelling, great graphics and music, so less than 50c per hour of entertainment. Thank you to the team, this was unbelievably worthwhile!

Easily my game of the year for 2014 and arguably better than DA:O. The amazing, rich characters, gorgeous landscapes, intense, fun combat, compelling narrative and cool crafting elevate this game to amazing heights. * Amazing atmosphere, I haven't felt this giddy walking around and exploring since Skyrim... it's more polished though, with only the odd graphical oddity.
    * Origins level, if not better, writing.
    * Controller+PC = The most fun way to play. The UI for KB+M is lovely, but the movement is much, much better on controller..... they very much tailored EVERYTHING to work better on the gamepad

    * Use Mantle if you are AMD GPU - I got a based god 10fps bump and everything just seems to look and run better when using the Mantle API.
    * Install on a SSD for sure, load times are next to none.. just long enough to read 1-2 of the cards then you're into the game.
    * Cut-scenes were a bit stuttery as well, until I used Mantle.. AMD cards and DX11 in this game don't like each other as much.
    * The best music I have ever heard in a game, and I'm only 10 hours in.. it's just...... spectacular.
    * The Storytelling, so far, is amazing... only bested by the superb atmosphere and character interactions.
    * GOTY shoe in from what I've played.. it's the Dragon Age game you have been waiting for since finishing Origins, believe the hype.

Dragon Age: Inquisition feels like Bioware returning to it's roots. It's a compelling RPG with an excellent story that rewards the player for how much they invest. It's a compelling RPG with an excellent story that rewards the player for how much they invest. The world mechanic feels vaguely similar to the original Mass Effect in the best possible way. You venture to different regions of a larger world, each strikingly unique. Once you're in a locale, you can do as much or as little as you want. There are minigames to complete, dragons to slay, and a host of tasks and collectibles. I spent over one hundred hours completing every task and scouring the map for every missing item and I still couldn't grab everything before confronting the final arc of the main story. Not that a completionist mentality is needed to attend to the final boss. The main narrative is only a fraction of the game. What the designer have done is bound the side quests to the over arching goal of influence and power for your organization. In doing so, the plethora quests (even the menial fetch quests) seem like part of your hero's journey to station as the Inquisitor. There are plenty of options when creating your hero as in any good RPG from this generation. As the story unfolds you gain new options and customizations to your abilities, to the way you can craft, and even to your home. All are useful, save the castle features which are purely for aesthetic. As you grow, so too do your interactions with your supporting cast. They each are fairly interesting characters with unique motivations. Thankfully, unlike DA2, their stories don't culminate in depressing outcomes. A nice touch is that many of your friends alter their environment as the story progresses. Solas' room is the most striking example. The one concern I had with the story was how heavily it was entrenched in DA2 dlc (which I never played because I'd given up on it after completion of the main game... thrice to see if there were different outcomes). Playing the dlc isn't required to get the point of who your enemy is. Still, based on the previews, I thought Morrigan and the events at the end of DA:O would be the counter to the mage/templar war. Cameos are well placed. The story itself was well came to a fulfilling conclusion and leaves room for the future. There's also a multiplayer that's no where near as complete and compelling as that of Mass Effect 3's. Still, it's easy to sink a few hours into the dungeon crawling without realizing it. You can also pay to get ahead, but I don't think you'd get much for your money and paying doesn't give you a distinct advantage over others. While you may not find too much replayability in the multiplayer, there's plenty of content in the campaign to keep you invested for hundreds of hours. For the first time since Mass Effect 2, I'm begging for DLC. Expand

This is why metacritic user scores are a joke. This game is amazing. Anyone giving it a zero is skewing the results way too far down. This his may not be your cup of tea, maybe it's a ltittle buggy, maybe you don't like the PC controls, whatever the reason saying that the work they put into this is a zero shows the absurdity of the ratings. Now overall ive probably put a good 500 hours into this game, if not more, beating it twice on pc, and then platinuming it on ps4, so id say im pretty qualified to talk about it. The game retains all of the bioware charm, and quirks, but presents you with many new and exciting features, especially like the new ginormous map locations! The graphics are surprisingly pleasant for a transitional era game, and the environments will suck you in until youve discovered every corner of every area! The many many side quests, and inner circle/party member quests will keep you invested in your allies and spending plenty of time questing from beginning to end, and though the dlc's for this game were a bit lackluster in scope compared to DA: Origins, the game really doesnt feel like it needs anything beyond what you have in base. The class system and combat was the same stripped down experience you'd expect from dragon age, but rebalanced and really making each of the 3 classes feel unique and purposeful. The Ai did leave a little to be improved as they have a difficult time making use of more complex classes, but throw an Ai tank or barrier spam mage out and your team will never go down, and besides you should be saving the more fun complex stuff for your character anyway. overall I love this game, and I have to say it is probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time at this point, and i definitely the best entry in the franchise. One of the best games you will ever play… If you put in the work. And when I say work, I mean you have to feel for your character. In most games, your custom character is your avatar, a blank slate that allows you to interact with the world and be either insanely good or maniacally evil.

This is not the case in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Your character can have depth, doubts, a character arc, and all the things you would expect in a game where you're playing a pre-made hero. This means you need to take the time to pick a class, race, and sex you'll enjoy playing. It took me longer than expected to get a character that I felt comfortable with and looked good in cutscenes but, once I did, the Inquisitor became a living, breathing person in a way no other game like that has done before.

The reason I lead with this is because without an invested interest in your character, I can see a lot of the big story moments falling flat. I've spoken to multiple people who had played for several hours, trashed it, then went back and took the time to make a character they liked only to ended up loving it. I think the character creator, while very impressive, could certainly do a better job of letting you know how your character will look in the world. It seems like a small thing but you can't image how important it is.

It is true that the game feels smaller than you'd expect in the early going. The skill tree looks limited and the worlds feel small for a next-fen game. It isn't until a fairly large moment in the story and the selection of a specialty that you truly realize how massive this game is. And I like that. I actually thought for awhile that I had explored most everything and had a fairly powerful character only to realize that I was so so wrong. This feeling fits with your characters place in the world and lets you find a certain level of comfort in the early going before jumping into the madness that is the massive scope of this game.

In conclusion, this game is fantastic but it doesn't necessarily have the pick-up and playability of a Call of Duty or Shadows of Mordor. But the rewards for patient players are incredible.

Feels very close to a living, breathing fantasy world. Very happy with the 70 dollars I spent on this game for the Deluxe edition. Bioware, thou art redeemed in mine eyes.

Unfortunately it isn't a open world type of game but the many different locations are MASSIVE and extremely diverse, from a dessert to snow, to tropical rain forests, to ancient civilizations. The art, graphics, voice acting is very well done. If you look at the characters while they speak the movements of their jaws and lips matches their words very well, it is believable. Also the game characters have such diverse personalities and you want to know more about them. I love this game, the gameplay and combat system does need a little bit more work because I find the combat too easy. Nonetheless, the storyline, romance, drama, jokes, graphics, acting and more makes up for the game's minor problems. Very well done. Expand

Another masterpiece from Bioware. The mere scale of this open world is outstanding! It is a beautiful and living world with amazing characters. The combat is an action mixed with tactics, the interface is comfortable, dialog wheel is better than ever. Its a marvel of a game, THE GAME OF THE YEAR 2014

For example if you're playing a warrior you can counter, you can roll, and you can do you're best impression of scorpion and yell "Get over here!" while throwing you're grappling hook/spear at far-reaching enemies to bring them closer to you and proceed to wail on them. This along with the strategy element blend to make combat something really unique. Also, I know that getting rid of healing spells was a point of contention before release but what they did to replace this system is very interesting. Before you set out from a certain camp you equip potions and have access to only those potions until you find another camp or walk back to your camp to refill them with your tail between your legs only to go back out into the world and try again or avoid whatever gave you trouble. This is dark-souls esque and i love that. That's not the interesting part though. While you're fighting you can perform certain moves that give you a barrier or armor that protects your health, mitigating the need for potions. It's a very fun and involved process. For the rest I'll make this review shorter: the story is engaging and interesting, the characters are great, your character is great, the soundtrack is great, the game-map is **** gigantic, and there's a **** of quest content. One last thing. The game has a way of testing your personal beliefs regarding religion, politics, and society. This bit is something I've never really experienced in a game and I find it incredibly intriguing. Expand

The game is astonishing! Game of the year for me, after playing almost all "good" title on PS4 in 2014.

    Pluses:
    - beautiful graphic
Environment is diversed and each map has its own style, beauty. character models are well made, spell/skill effects are so cool that you want to keep using them just for the flashes ;)

    - great character customization
Equipment has options to add many slots, most of them (if not all) change appearance of the item. Character customization gives broad choice of settings. You can choose mounts, class specialization for your Inquisitor. Even bloody throne on which you judge prisoners can be changed!

    - interesting story
It might not be innovative, but there are so many side quests which are well said and keep you going. Usually I do not even read quest descriptions in games, but here I am fully engaged in the game.

    - so many things to do that you feel overwhelmed
Wherever you go, you have so many things to do...War table has many options of sending troops that unlock even more over time. Each area that can be visited with your team has many side quests. Normally side quests are waste of time in majority of rpgs, arent they? here they always give you some boost, sometimes unlocking new content. example was chain of sidequests on one map, which I did on one map (took me like 1-2hours) which resulted in Dragon being available for fight.

    - gameplay is enjoyable
This game has an option to play more hack'n'slash with normal view or tactical view for tough fights (dragons, bosses). I haven't got very used to tactical view and I like a lot hacking and slashing foes. What is great is the fact that you have both fighting systems and both seem engaging.
Fights with normal trash enemies are usually not difficult, however some boss fights or dragon fights can be really challenging and entertaining.

    - music gives me goosebumps!
    - The length of the game is impressive
I so missed times when I was playing RPG games for 50+hours... I am (only) 30hours in this game, but what surprises me is that all the time new stuff comes up that keeps me so entertained in the game!
I read that this title can be played for 100+hours... I really hope it will last so long because so far it is a great ride!

On a side note, there were few glitches, but those were not disturbing and absolutely did not interfere in my immersion with the game. This game is so deep and big that it would be a miracle to avoid any glitch.

To express how much I got into this game, I will tell you an anecdote about my normal behavior versus what happens recently when I play Dragon Age.
Normally, my girlfriend has not a big issue while trying to get me away from console so that I come with her to our bedroom.
A simple "come over baby" is more than enough to motivate me enough for turning off PS4.
With Dragon Age? Hell, she even had to put on the sexiest set of lingerie to get my attention!
So ladies, think twice before you get this game for your beloved one, it might turn out not the way you would like! :)

Seriously speaking, best purchase so far this year for my console, feels so full of content and deserves every cent spent.
    I highly recommend this game!

Getting this out of the way, of course, if you don't like fantasy RPGs, you won't like this, but if that grabs you, you can't go wrong with DAI! This is my Game of the Year so far.

    Pros:
*I'm new to Dragon Age, but I feel like i mostly grasp what's going on, and never felt left behind for having not played Origins or DA2.
*Environments and characters are rendered beautifully. Sure, there's an awkward body movement every once in a while, but overall, I'm seriously impressed, especially by the water on the Storm Coast!
*I love the dialogue options, and the enormous freedom of choice in terms of what your inquisitor is going to be and do.
*The blend of combat, and again, the choice of how you approach it is really refreshing. You can increase or decrease the difficulty whenever, the overhead, tactical view is useful sometimes, and just running into battle is more action'y, and is good other times.
*I think the keyword for this game is choice. There are so many choices well beyond the superficial, "What does he/she look like? What class? What race?" The amazing questions to answer are: "What does he/she believe? Why is he/she doing this? Will he/she fall in love, and with whom? Does he/she believe there's some higher purpose? How does he/she think a society should be run?" It's all fascinating, and so far, I can't get enough.
*Game stability. This shouldn't be a thing, but lately, games have launched broken, and such is not the case with DAI. Sure, there are little glitches every once in a while, but in my experience, this game is polished, and, dare I say, actually finished before it releases?
*Crafting feels awesome, and material grinding is not terribly repetitive! There are so many things to pick up all the time, everywhere. I rarely feel downtrodden as if I'll never find what I need.

    Cons:
*Tactical cam doesn't work very well in some situations, like cramped rooms or caverns.
*Inventory and character management in menus isn't perfect. I wish I could equip items after buying them while in the same merchant screen. I wish some things were clearer. I wish they would've called the "valuables" tab the "junk" tab, because that's what it is, and it would've spared me some head-scratching.

It's well worth $60, and is a nice change from $60 Destiny. Try playing this for 30 hours, then go back to Destiny and tell me you don't feel ripped off.

It's graphically quite beautiful, and the exploration plus both forms of combat really open the game up. I like using both combat systems, and while the level designs were lacking on DA:2, I was one of the people that loved that game (so you know where I'm coming from), mostly because the combat for playing a rogue was much improved upon Origins' terrible AI movement.

I was actually surprised by how quickly the story and motivations pulled me into this game. I shouldn't have been; BioWare is fantastic when it comes to characterization and story. Regardless, this game achieves one of those very hard things to do that so many other games I play fail at: it makes me forget I'm playing a game. I'm so absorbed in every aspect of it. It's completely engrossing, and transports me into the world of Thedas. This is, quite frankly, an RPG after my own heart. It's easily the best installment in the Dragon Age franchise, and one I'm far more likely to replay for that very same reason.

If you are an RPG fan, you owe it to yourself to give this game a real shot. I honestly can't believe why there are so many negative user reviews. People are too angry and bitter and their venom shows. 0/10? Really? That is not an honest assessment.

Inquisition easily makes it into my top three RPG video games of all time, and for that reason I'm confident to give it 10/10. Not to 'balance the negative reviews', and not to say that any game is ever truly perfect (there's always room for improvement), but because it delivers in spades everything I love about RPG games and rich storytelling.

Negate the hate! Do what you love.

I do enjoy the representation in this game, which is why I typically prefer bioware RPGs, I feel like the characters really have personality. I love this game so much. It really has a good feel of Skyrim almost and it also makes up for DA2. If you love dragons, epic combat, and a open world then pick up this game! :D

I just love the animations and immersiveness of controlling a 2-handed wpn warrior or dbl dgr'd rogue !) Expand

I cant understand the hate this game is getting. I really like the way they set up the quests and locations and it's really easy to get around. It only took me around two hours to get used to all the UI's and stuff. Other than the clunky mouth animation (lol?) this is a masterpiece. I just cant put down the controller!

This game reminds me of the Elder Scrolls saga but mixed with the Diablo series and that's good! the game has excellent graphics and well designed controls and gameplay, I haven't played a Dragon Age game before and this game leaves me a good taste to follow this saga.

Like most this was long overdue but the wait paid off. I was totally immersed into the game thinking about it all the time and loving every minute of it. Everything just works from the battle system to the story to the war room-- a great addition!

I hope Bioware continues to produce games of this calibre in years to come for now congrats on an epic game and the accolades it has garnered!

Firstly, the graphics are beautiful, from light effects and just beuatifully crafted characters, to the thick dense worlds DAI lets you explore, I was instantly pleased with my purchase.

However, I was expecting a game a lot more similar to Skyrim, and it simply isn't. In the opening quest (I started as a mage) it felt the fighting was simple and just button bashing spells out at the enemies. I recalled my initial delight and felt that its really poor fighting dynamic. As I'd just spent £45 on it though, I thought I'd stick with it a little further, and I'm so pleased I did.

I'm now just shy of 300 hrs into DAI. My brain woke up and I realised this isn't a single character RPG with a hack-n-slash feel to it, this is an oldschool heroes-quest epic. The story is genius, with a constant feeling the game is almost at its peak just before a twist or a development that throws the world open again. The characters are charmingly voiced with endless banter while wandering the very varied landscapes and the feeling of depth is like no other game I've played. The sandboxes just keep on giving!
I've got deep into crafting and it's never once felt a slog. It's a joy to spend an hour in Skyhold selling old weapons and advancing newly crafted ones to max my characters out.
Not haven played the two games prior, the story didn't lose me, often back-filling chunks in cut-scenes and while roaming. It really is a perfect replacement for my Skyrim void in my life, and after 300 hours (and I can't believe I'm writing this) I really prefer it to Skyrim now. Honestly, it's that good!

EA have so densely filled this game with things to do and achieve, to 100% it I'm still only half way! Great value for money and the best fun I've had on my PS4 alone.

If the game comes down in price, and you like RPGs, you owe it to yourself to make sure you get this well deserved GotY.

Great game, great story and a wonderful game play. This game is a must have for all the fan of the saga, and for people who love fantasy. The first 2 dlcs do not add much to the game (The descent and Jaws of Hakkon) apart few more hours of game play but "trespasser" is the DLC to have, it is amazing and beautifully done, with more hours to play and story ending content. Thumbs up!
