However the game has a very good plot, good interactions between members of the party and dialogues are surely good.
Also the mechanic for crafting is very good and clear, giving the possibility to better personalize your party members equipment to better suit your playing style. Same thing can be applied to the ability three

Oh,god, this was a long journey. Very addictive game,i finished campaign but i wanted to do lots of side stuff, even though i usually don't do that. Main quests are good, the game is very very long, but it is not boring, missions have some variety, and the world is beautiful.

Bioware with Dragon Age and Mass Effect has established an ultra immersive game category, the possibility of choosing, of shaping your own XP, changes the situation, we immerse ourselves a lot more.

The story since Dragon Age Origins is just superb, the universe is researched, detailed, the construction of the characters, the interactivity with, romances, the influence of our choices on their lives and ours, wow

My only problem now is that since playing the 2 Bioware trilogies, I find most of the other games a little more bland in terms of writing depth, immersion, everything seems more rigid, I can't wait any longer for the next opus !

But as the story progresses and we get to know the characters a little better, it becomes one of the best action RPGs I’ve ever played. Your choices REALLY matter. Few games have made me care about the characters the way that this game does. Everything about Inquisition is great. The variety of enemies, different levels, combat, & customization are everything I want out of a fantasy action RPG. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My first game by Bioware, bought this on PS4 as a Christmas present for my brother but ended up playing and loving it myself. The game introduced me to the Dragon Age series and eventually Mass Effect trilogy and I loved every minute of it.

    Positive:
    • Graphics - not realistic but perfect for a fantasy game, colours are vibrant, colours well used in different places. Takes you to the perfect fantasy world. UI and colours are simply marvellous, landscape and design was breathtaking especially in the Trespasser DLC.
    • Meaningful choices - Dragon Age keep allows players to transfer or create their own story with or without playing through previous games, your choices then will affect who appears or the history of characters and the world. However, Hawke will always appear as default Hawke, though you get the option to change them.
    • Customization - sliders and colour wheels are always an A+ in my book, however, there's limited and ugly hairstyles. Eyes always looks about 5mm inside their skulls with their thick and really defined underlids.
    • Romance - Great number and options (specifically for female elf), multiple pathways, affects the story to a degree, satisfying.
    • Companions - Diverse from race to colour to ideologies, they are their own characters and it's obvious that the developers were not bias towards any particular group/views.
    • Great replay-ability

    Negative:
    • Slow at the start
    • Some characters have degenerated in terms of appearance such as Sera and Queen Anora
    • Combat mechanics is not revolutionary (except bard in multiplayer), it stuck to its roots of holding M1 or R2 and press the occasional trigger buttons once cool-down has finished.

    Final Verdict:
Enjoyable for players that loves the fantasy genre and strategy games, otherwise players will find it over the top or too difficult unless they lower the difficulty settings.
    • Definitely Play only if you're interested
    • Game sometimes pokes fun of itself so play with an open mind
    • Linear story so don't expect to become the villain or the inquisition to be strong or alive at the end

Finding roads to trek up are sometimes hard and the game will not just let me climb up rocks. It's a micromanagers dream though with all the crafting and inventory management work that you can do.

    Takeaways
Pros: real RPG where your choices affect the game, great for micromanaging looters like me who want to pocket everything, your character can be in a relationship. LGBTQ+ representation
Cons: appearing very open world but having limitations on gameplay (like not being able to access some areas/climb rocks).

The game is good in its core. Problem is there are just too many "fetch" elements that can hamper your experience if you want to do them all. Surprise?! You don't have to.
The story itself is really nice. I miss the Dragon age: Origins where you had different start for each character but that is fine. Companions are again their own interesting

The story itself is really nice. I miss the Dragon age: Origins where you had different start for each character but that is fine. Companions are again their own interesting characters, each with different personality and agenda. Combat is a bit lacking, I don't mind hack and slash/action RPGs but this comming from Bioware was a weird take esp. after so many games where stopping time was essential, so here is almost no reason to use tactical map even on nightmare difficulty.
Shard hunting was/is/will be a boring choice. They could have made something different with it, but instead you are stuck with some doors that give you neglectable bonuses.

I must say the game itself is somewhere between 7.5-8 for me. But what makes it even better are the DLCs. Yes, I am not a big fan of DLC content but this one is a must. I believe if the Trespasser DLC was in game since launch it would make one of the best story games out there. I have to call it 9 with DLCs.

Oh.. and did I talked about how you can export saves from previous games? And if you didn't play them you can customize almost everything that happened in the prior games. Oh boy and those thing have an impact (some are minor tho).

    1. good

    3. good
    4. average (since it is for PS3 and all, but not a too important factor)
Dragon Age has the most complex stories and lore. The best part, it links all up since Dragon Age: Origins, every character has their roles and they turned out differently in each choices and consequences. Dragon Age Keep is a brilliant concept! Replayability is quite high as well because different heroes chosen based on race will have different beginnings and back story. The politics are real & I especially enjoy the dialogues even though it is long. Choices are consequential and most times are not shallow clear-cut moral choices.

A good game, not as enjoyable as Origins, but still a good game.

While some elements of the game felt repetitive, for the most part, I found myself enjoying the quests, the character development of those on my squad, and the overall story. I'm a sucker for any type of medieval rpg, so I usually enjoy these kind of games, but this is definitely worth a play, if you haven't already.

    x Beautiful environments

    Cons:
    x Relatively bland overarching story
    x Weak main villain
x Siding with the mages can be frustratingly slow and drawn out
x Minor but consistent bugs, including but not limited to: camera, combat, AI, dialogue, crafting, fast travel
x First area (Hinterlands) filled with mindbogglingly boring tasks

    Middle of the road:
x Some companion questlines feel unsatisfying to complete
x Camera angles are sometimes awkward
x Animation bugs in conversations (not consistent)

    Final rating: 8/10
Dragon Age Inquisition is a great game, filled with deep lore, interesting characters and fun, exhilarating combat, mixed in with great exploration and vast, beautiful environments. It is only held back from being a "masterpiece" by consistent minor bugs during combat, traversal and dialogue, to give a few examples, bland overarching plot and main villain, and inconsistent quality in terms of major story decisions. I will still wholeheartedly recommend the game for DA fans, or RPG fans in general. Just a caveat, the game isn't exactly new player friendly, but there are numerous guides, tutorials and lore collections on the internet to get you set up, so it's not a big issue.

Story side of the game is very good. How power in society is attained and then corrupted or lost. Characters felt like people with their own views and motivations. First play trough you could not predict events and how they would transpire, with your input or lack of it.

Game play side was mediocre or me. Scenery was awesome, maps were creative and all of them had their own feel.

Game play side was mediocre or me. Scenery was awesome, maps were creative and all of them had their own feel. Dragons were awesome too, but they were just beasts roaming the land on specific spots in the world. I liked the way weapons and armour were modifiable. However what i missed the most was the variety of skills, it felt like they made it so because console players would into be able to fit many of them on their interface. Playing on pc, of course the skills looked amazing, but they got old really soon. I know hardcore people would use only a few of them anyway for best optimisation, but i felt that for a world this big there were not enough ways to kill enemies differently. And the side quests did not help. Too much of same felt repetitive really fast.

So yeah a good game would recommended if you can get it cheep.

    Action RPG

    Was it fun?

Yes, the hours I spent playing this game. I definitely lost myself for about 2 weeks while playing this game.

    Are there any similar games?

There are other Dragon Age games that I assume are similar (I’ve never played them) but for me this was a unique experience.

    Favorite Character/Unit to use?

I liked using Solas. I would just sit back as my warriors attacked, I would help protect my warriors and launch projectiles from a distance. Some people may prefer being in the trenches for the fighting but I enjoyed being on outside.

    Would you play it again?

There is so much more than I would love to do but I already spent 2 weeks on this game and I have to move on. Yes I would love to play this game again but I just can’t.

    Any Complaints?

With this being my first Dragon Age game, the story was a bit hard to follow at times. I actually had to look up what the epilogue was all about because I didn’t understand it.

Also the lack of options with romantic partners, why not Leliana or especially scout Harding. I could flirt with her (and she certainly liked it) but couldn’t hook up with her? I just found that kind of odd.

Dragon age inquisition has you playing as a mage, a rogue, or warrior, you create a group of 4, with the ability to switch between any of them in a battle, and set out to take down the villain. It's what it sounds like you cast spells as a mage, hack and slash as a warrior, and shoot arrows or stealth beat em up as an rogue. The combat itself is actually pretty simple, satisfying and addictive, with new abilities to unlock as you level up. However I felt the combat felt a little to "spammy" the majority of the time. The story was really straightforward, (bad guy wants to take over world, stop him). At least each story mission had an different theme. I also read the loot was random, but to be honest it was a hit or miss, or to put it more bluntly a big meh for me. Open world is huge, with tons of side content that I can see people putting 100+ hours to complete it. However, the majority of the side quests are kitchen sink fillers, and the majority of them felt unrewarding. As you can see, every pro in this games also has a con, and vice versa. To end, I felt this game is in the same league as fallout 4 in terms of rpg's this gen that I've played, but it's nowhere near the elite level rpgs like the witcher or horizon zero dawn in my opinion. Pros: Satisfying combat, humongous side content. The So-So: straightfoward story, spammy combat The cons: unrewarding side quests. Expand

A sprawling open world with gorgeous, immersive environments. A brilliant narrative with fabulously developed characters, the best villain BioWare has written since Jon Irenicus. And most importantly, Deep, tactician, fast-paced combat that combines everything I liked about Dragon Age 2 and Origins together. And last but not least, the best soundtrack in gaming since the Neverwinter Nights series.

The gameplay appeals to all gamers. You can play casually in normal or easy without the need for much planning or pouring over skill trees. Or you can bring it to the epic level of party-based combat that I haven't seen since Throne of Bhaal. Turn on all the trials, put the slider on "Nightmare" and you will have epic fights that will end brutally for you unless you plan a great party comp from hours of pouring over the many skill trees and brilliant crafting system (the best I have ever seen in a video-game) that will give you the edge you need to overcome the great difficulty this game can have.

Still the most beautiful game world ever, it's artistry rivals Dark Souls and the texture detail is far beyond The Witcher 3.

Probably the most underrated video-game of this generation, this is one of the very, very best experiences there is. And the best RPG of this generation, with Dark Souls 3 being the only close 2nd.

Absolute value for your money. I bought this for $6.99 on a sale. Wouldn't have regretted it even at full price.
Really got attached to the main character and main party members. Classic Bioware at work, brilliant!

    Cons:
Too many unused squad mates. Would've preferred less party options but well-written and fleshed out characters. I only used Solas, Cassandra, Blackwall, Dorian mainly. Kept hearing about Iron Bull but man he sucks, died too easily.

    Boring and repetitive fetch quests

Side quests aren't as engaging. General quest design and story/plot mechanics could be improved.

Too many uninteresting codex entries, which spoil the pace of the game.

Dated character models, time to upgrade your engine Bioware.

Boring combat. Either go all action or full RPG, this feels like an over the shoulder Diablo, which some might like to be fair.

    Overpowered too easily.

Main character's voice acting can be cheesy at times. Too stiff and serious.

Now overall ive probably put a good 500 hours into this game, if not more, beating it twice on pc, and then platinuming it on ps4, so id say im pretty qualified to talk about it. The game retains all of the bioware charm, and quirks, but presents you with many new and exciting features, especially like the new ginormous map locations! The graphics are surprisingly pleasant for a transitional era game, and the environments will suck you in until youve discovered every corner of every area! The many many side quests, and inner circle/party member quests will keep you invested in your allies and spending plenty of time questing from beginning to end, and though the dlc's for this game were a bit lackluster in scope compared to DA: Origins, the game really doesnt feel like it needs anything beyond what you have in base. The class system and combat was the same stripped down experience you'd expect from dragon age, but rebalanced and really making each of the 3 classes feel unique and purposeful. The Ai did leave a little to be improved as they have a difficult time making use of more complex classes, but throw an Ai tank or barrier spam mage out and your team will never go down, and besides you should be saving the more fun complex stuff for your character anyway. overall I love this game, and I have to say it is probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time at this point, and i definitely the best entry in the franchise. Not only that but in cases like Liliana, you get to help her find herself again(if you pick the right choices).

So this game is for people who like to immerse themselves in a different world, for people who enjoy reading codex and getting to know NPCs. I cannot say enough good things about this game. It has high replay value. The combat is fun but also easy on Normal so if you want a challenge I'd start with a higher difficulty.

If you enjoy role-playing and immersing yourself in a fantasy world you will love this game.

While not perfect, Bioware's first venture into the open-world genre is one that deserves praise.

Gorgeously rendered environments are offset by a flashy and dynamic combat system. The voiced dialogue is at times witty, others endearing, and always worth lending your ear. This plot is not perfectly written. The antagonist of this tale is admittedly a bit too cliche. He fails to

People are real quick to forget this was game of the year for 2014. Rightfully so. Was 2014 a "weak" year? Maybe. What game was better? Shadow of Mordor? Really don't think so. Anyone who rates the game lower than an 8 are sour grapes.

Technically the game is top notch with great graphics that offers impressive light effects and detailed environments, there's also very few glitches which is impressive for a world this big. In the other hand the loading times are a bit long for my taste, specially when you need to go back to your HQ so much.

Concerning the gameplay it's clearly closer to Origins, you can pause time anytime and give your instructions, you don't have the ability to parry or dodge (some classes may unlock those but they come with a cooldown like any other class abilities.). It works well and it's easy to learn, but in the end the fights all look alike (except for the bosses) which is a bit boring after 50 hours and hundreds of fights. The RPG mechanics are very well done and you'll encounter everything you expect in a fantasy RPG (alchemy, forge, runes) you even get to do a bit of management as head of the inquisition and of course Bioware trademark you have to deal with your relationships with the rest of your gang.

About that let's talk about the writing in general the main quest is rather satisfactory and fits very well with the previous games (specially if you enter your choices in the website), it wasn't intense but well written, the same goes for the personal quest of your companions and I think it's important to give so much personality for the PNJ it gives life to the world. But I was very disappointed by the (numerous) side quest you'll encounter in each zone, they're way too simple (in the writing department I mean) and there's clearly no incentive to do them apart for the rewards, like a job in real life, it's not what I want in a videogame. Concerning the length of the game if you want to complete it at 100% you can expect around 80 hours of gameplay which is very good for the genre.

So in conclusion Dragon Age Inquisition is a solid RPG fairly enjoyable and quite generous in its content but the monotonous fighting and poor writing of the side quests is disappointing and can keep you from enjoying every minute of the game. Advisable for all RPG lovers that have already completed The Witcher 3 (if not it should be your priority).

This game is really fun, it goes really in depth and allows you to make fun conversations, and will make you want to explore. The game really has a lot to offer and will take several hours to complete if you are willing to do the side quests. The game is beautiful, and the characters are filled with personality.

What is wrong with some people?! giving this game a bad review...this game is amazing. It has amazing art, graphics, the gameplay is fluid..you can tell that the devs have put a lot of time, effort and love into making this game. I love it. Also, the online is still alive and well. Don't hate..appreciate.

First Dragon Age game I play, bought it at 20€ on the PS Store, after claiming everywhere I would never give anymore money to EA. Well.

70 hours laters (and 2 years later, I know), and thus maybe after all the fixes and patches, I can say this is one of my top 5 games. I would recommend this game to players who like spending time chatting with NPC's, making decisions having an impact

I would recommend this game to players who like spending time chatting with NPC's, making decisions having an impact on the story, it's a perfect occasion to do some RP with your inquisitor, judge people, make allies, construct relationships.

Graphics are good enough, stop being a spoiled child if you judge only on that. I prefer when the devs spend more time creating a backstory, and a game system that allows different play styles. I had fun playing this game, from the first to the last minute

I regret that they weren't more RP possibilities, like sitting everywhere, talking to companions during the missions, something to actually do in your huge bedroom instead of just changing clothes. That's why I don't give it a 10

I recommend this game to people who like putting time and investment into a game, you'll be rewarded. It is a bit slow to start and to understand what this game actually is, but it opens up after the first big battle. I suggest you follow the main quest until you reach Skyhold, and then spend time explore the regions.

Dragon Age: Origins is still one of my all time favourite games. It had the best characters and voice acting of any game I had previously played, superb story and atmosphere and really packed an emotional punch at times. Dragon Age II was a shinier, dumbed down version. Admittedly a game I still enjoyed, but it was a shadow of it's former self. This one is a mixture of the two. Let's start with the good. It is HUGE. Far bigger than the previous games. Just the core game itself took me well over a 100 hours to complete, and the DLC will add many more. The characters are good, the crafting second to none. It looks beautiful: every time I play it, I forget how nice it looks. On to the not-so-good: it lacks the soul of the original. There is a moment when you move to a different area in the first quarter of the game, and that is beautifully done and packs a real emotional punch, but i never quite surpasses that. The graphics, whilst beautifully detailed are more like the shinier Dragon Age II, whereas I was very fond of the earthy watercolour palette of the original. Overall, this is a superb RPG, and whilst Witcher 3 has come along and crushed it, if you haven't played it there is much to enjoy here. Crafting is still the most detailed of any game out there, and the companions are superb- just sit back and listen to the banter between them! Expand

So Inquisition is BIOWARE at it's absolute best, there are some minor flaws in the game witch keep it from achieving the top however, like some quests are too boring and without any meaningful purpose witch is realy a shame, but still this game is a great rpg, and one that remains true to it's roots and ancestors as a beautiful and respectable rpg.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bioware rightfully made the best fantasy game only beat by Skyrim. The real draw of this game is Character customization, choices, and discovery. I always love creating a female character and this game doesn't disappoint in that respect unlike Fallout 4 for example. Inquisition still has the best dialogue system and the most decisions out of modern games. So the only competition in that respect is between well, previous Bioware titles and Telltale Games. However, most choices don't have a big enough impact. No matter who you choose, Templars or Mages, you'll still have to defend Haven from the forgettable villain. I understand that part is critical to the story but Bioware has given much more weight to choices in the Mass Effect series
. But Skyhold really is a big improvement over the Normandy. The world is plenty big and the highlights visually are the houses in the Emerald Graves, the Eleven temple in the end, and the sand dunes of the Western Approach(beat Elder Scrolls to the punch). Due to the leveling and weapon damage system, enemies had to have large health bars to make the former mechanics work. There is no point in getting a better weapon if the Red Templars succumb to one or two hits. This makes encounters long and less fun. Dragons take so long to kill.
Only at the end does the story get intriguing. This is mostly thanks to Morigan(who I kept thinking was the villain due to the reveal trailer) and the Elvin lore.Since that I was eager to make progress in the game, I skipped most of the cutscenes, dialogue, and books;something I usually don't do.It ended up cutting my playthrough in half(about 50 hours instead of the average 100+)
In a world where Gods and magic exist, religion stills gets thing wrong. Something I only realized towards the end. Not that they were morally wrong(the chantry is clearly the old christian church and a lot of it draws inspiration from the real world) but that it's not certain who these gods were as Mythal turns out not to be an Elvin god but Morigan's Immortal human mother. And there isn't proof of the maker or the Old Gods existence. The only interesting part of Coryriphius (spelled wrong) was when he mentions that the thrones in the heavens were empty. That mystery definitely will be explained in future games.
The end seems to point towards a Grey Warden civil war being a plot point for DAV. It really sucks that EA most likely took the real ending and released it as the Trespasser DLC only for current-gen. That will probably stop me from playing it as I played it on the 360 and will likely get a PS4.
So the near future for Bioware is Andromeda. Something that is taking far too long to make. Is it going through development hell? Almost. Bioware is trying to make a far more ambitious game than Mass Effect 3. But here's the problem. This is in terms of content, not substance. Clearly the scale of this game is whats being built upon. And in my opinion thats a bad thing. Inquisition would have been significantly better in terms of story, pacing, and level design if Bioware didn't try to compete with the sheer size of Skyrim. Either way, I'm almost certain that Andromeda will be a great game:)

Regardless, I like how the different areas feel a lot different with each others which shows its diversity, you get to a forest like map to a swamp like area then a vast desert style environment to the ice filled area torn by continous battle. With regards to its content being optional, yeah, its optional but damn LARGE if you try to achieve them all that you will lose 100+ hours of you life. All in all, this game is great and is one of the two best games of the year (shadow of mordor is the other) that deserves the credit they get. I hope bioware learns again and try to give us a better and more GOTY worthy game in dragon age 4. Salute to them! Expand
