Having played both last years game and this years, I commend the team at Canuck for the improvement. This year’s game does play a lot more smoothly, the graphics have been refined slightly and a few added animations and physics tweaking has it playing much better simulation football. It still has a long ways to go, but they listen to their customer base and I will continue to support. The launch was a bit rough with wrong versions of the game being put through by Microsoft and Sony, but that was out of the hands of the developers. Overall, I’m enjoying this years game. Is it perfect, no. Is it AAA? No, but it darn well does a good job simulating football and it’s loaded with customization. Enjoy it for what it for what it is, a sim football game made by like 3-6 people who do it part-time. The amount of features they have in comparison to Madden is just plain sad. Goes to show how greedy and crappy EA is. Expand

I really want to like this game but it just isn't fun. I don't like the mess that Madden is but this game isn't a good substitute. I got the game on release day and it was broken (no running plays). The patch fixed some things but I had to delete my saved game - which I didn't know that it needed to be deleted until I went to Twitter. The game play is kind of wonky. For example, on defense you have to click square to do a dive tackle but I have yet to tackle a player that way. I basically just run into them to tackle. I feel like even catching a pass isn't even in my control. Overall this is a VERY basic game. For a small dev team I commend them but I would rather boot up NFL 2K5 than play today's football games. Compared to other $30 games this is a disappointment as far as quality goes. I don't want to be too hard on the dev team because I love PGA 2K21 and it started off as a basic golf game as The Golf Club. I hope this game gets better over time but it's going to have to make some significant leaps before I spend more money on it. Expand

Worst game I’ve ever played. If I received it for free, it would still cost too much in the time I spent staring at the horrific graphics.

The only selling point for this game is as the only NCAA college football option and it features a robust editing tool to edit all teams, players, and uniforms. It's criminal that this game doesn't have any online roster share. Some people enjoy detailing all 130 NCAA teams with proper logos and players, etc. Others find this a complete grind. It takes away from the immersion to be find LSU named the Baton Rouge Jesters.

I actually took time to name all the teams after real life counterparts and update team logos only to find I couldn't actually start my dynasty because it kept loading the CFL clubs even though I asked for an NCAA dynasty. I'm even given the option to choose my NCAA team yet when I enter the dynasty my team has magically transformed to a CFL squad. Even worse there are limited save slots, and seemingly no way of clearing save slots in game. I didn't want to clear my save data in the PS4 system storage as it would likely wipe out all my work correctly naming the clubs.

After some effort I finally got into the NCAA dynasty mode and it's so terrible. They literally ripped off all the recruiting mechanics from the 15 year old NCAA Football EA Sports games but did it much worse than the originals.

Would highly recommend anyone interested in NCAA to avoid and stick to the old NCAA games instead.

It’s true that Maximum Football does not have the resources or massive financial backing that Madden does. This game is by no means perfect, but it no doubt has more passion behind it than Madden does. Screw EA Sports.

Maximum Football 2020 is made by a Canuck Play which small development team based out of Canada. So of course you’re not going to get an AAA product from a company with a smaller budget. Again if you go into playing MF comparing it to Madden then you’re already setting yourself up for a negative experience. Which isn’t fair for both yourself & this game. The game released a day early which players had access to an earlier build of the game that didn’t have the day one update. So of course those who played the game early experienced problems because they didn’t have the correct version. But of course those who had the early build won’t say that & only want to be so quick to bash this company & game. The developers are one of the most community based video game companies I’ve seen in a while. In laymen’s terms.....THEY LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY! If you want a feature in this football simulation game they’ll definitely make note of it and work of putting it in game. Which makes the experience extremely better. The customization is one of the main draws to Maximum Football 2020 to where you have complete control to edit an entire college football universe! From designing the logo to recruiting players in dynasty mode. Me personally I’ve enjoyed the product that Canuck Play has created for the football community & look forward to seeing future releases of Maximum Football. With our support this company will continue to grow as well will the actual game. Just google Maximum Football 2018 to Maximum Football 2020 & you’ll see the improvements they’ve made each year. So if you’re looking for an college football experience from a company that actually listens to its customer base then Maximum Football 2020 is the game for you. See you on the field. Expand

Maximum football 20 had a rough launch but was patched very quickly do to the devs working through the night. Max football 20 features a solid college dynasty mode not seen in a football game in years. The game play has shown great improvements from last years and i found it to be playable, having its moments of amazing physics based football but also some frustrating glitches. Overall Canuck Play just proves yet again they are worth supporting if you dream of having a legit simulation football experience, just imagine what they could do with a bigger budget and more then one dev. The improvements they make on a yearly bases gives me little doubt that in a couple years we will have a very good true simulation football experience they just need our support and patience. Expand

If you've played Front Page Sports Football throughout the 90s, you'll feel right at home with this game. Comparing it to 2018 and 2019, it's obvious this small company is moving forward with improving this game so hopefully next year or 2022 the game will look far more polished, so if you're into college football or even Canadian football (it has a 9 team option with special rules) then support this dev team.

Mind you it's not even close to EA's Madden level of quality in graphics and animations, but it's a hell of a lot less frustrating than the crappy EA yearly releases as Madden 21 is proving to be one of the very worst releases to date and I've played Madden since 1989!

This game doesn't look as pretty as the other guys', but the game play is fun and addicting. The game just feels right when used with a physics engine. Imagine that, a collision game with a collision engine. Not a bunch of animated balloons with predetermined outcomes. Recevers also don't drop the ball as much unless a player is right on top of them. Overthrows on bullet passes seem right. This game doesn't look as pretty as the other guys', but the game play is fun and addicting. The game just feels right when used with a physics engine. Seeing the big games in your dynasty is also cool. Overall I'm having a bunch of fun playing (and watching) this game! Expand

Coming from a guy who played nes football games growing up...this isn't terrible..the customization alone is worth it...no licensed teams or players, but they give you the city and the colors...if you're a major college football fan you can figure it out...with recruiting and the ability to play a college dynasty for the first time in 8 yrs, I am pleased.
