I remember playing Doom back in 93’ and thinking how amazing it would be to actually be in the game. I’ve waited nearly 30 years but finally got to experience what I always wished for. For $30 this is worth every penny for PSVR owners. Expand

I was disappointed they used the " BFG Edition" of Doom 3 for VR..The origional 2006 version is far superior and would have been better for VR..Doom 3 on release was a horror Masterpeice, but then they went in and turned it into a generic shooter after the " gamez journos" complained.. Even though the game sold well the journos didn't like all the dark and having to switch between gun and flashlight.. So now everything is bright, your never vulnerable and the lighting that use to lead you in gone, so it's easy to get lost..
The controls were also better in Doom VFR and the guns were not so high and in your face.
All that being said, it's cool AF to be in the Doom Marz facility in VR..

Great work and many thanks to the developers and artists. Sure the design, visual and sound design is 16 years old, but this is history, brought to VR!

Amazing! We are lucky to have such a great Doom 3 VR port so late in the PS VR lifecycle. It’s hard to believe that this game is 17 years old - the graphics look great in VR, I think the low PS VR resolution actually helps to cover up the aging graphics.

The game plays like a dream with the aim controller, unlike in Doom VFR where the aim controller chugged - as a result, Doom 3 VR is the more immersive game of the two.
The teleporting system from Doom VFR is gone - thank god.
The villain is memorable and keeps you driving to finally deliver an ass kicking of all time.
Doom 3 VR feels like an evolution on the Doom experience John Romero was trying to establish in 1993, this time with no music, making it a creepier atmosphere, all the classic guns (favs are chain gun and plasma gun - they’re huge and badass), and monstrous demons to make you feel like a real bada$$.
Things can get kind of annoying when monsters get too close and you can’t hit them, plus backtracking once you’ve completed an objective can leave you wandering around, but those are minor gripe methinks.
Honestly, this ranks up high with me along with Doom VFR, Borderlands 2 VR, and Skyrim VR - in my opinion all of which are remarkable and ahead of their time curios of the platform.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Assuming the player has an Aim controller this could be the definitive way to experience the story and world of DOOM 3 out of all of the ports and versions. The minute-to-minute gameplay is satisfying and punchy accentuated by the player being face first in the action and horror. Highly recommended to horror lovers who are in search of an action-oriented VR experience.

After insanely intense Doom Eternal it was somewhat strange to revisit much calmer Doom 3. Back in the day I loved its slower pace and horror atmosphere though, so I was excited to return to the UAC facility. It is still a decent game, but it’s quite ugly even compared to other PS VR shooters and it was hell-bent on giving me motion sickness (there’s no option to replace fluid movement with teleportation). First the good news: Doom 3 VR edition differs little from the original, and the sinister atmosphere in the dark space base looks sublime even through a virtual reality headset. The bad news? Doom 3 VR edition differs little from the original. The graphics are hopelessly outdated 17 years after its original release, the cutscenes are suddenly no longer in 3D, and a loading screen appears every so often, causing everything to stall and taking you completely out of the game experience.
