It's been a while, but Codemasters is back again with a great driving game. DiRT Rally is a love letter for motorsport and players alike: it's fast, it's realistic, it's really difficult but never frustrating. It's a real masterpiece, probably the best rally game ever.

Excellent simulation didn´t lose anything of its charm with the console conversion – it plays great with steady fps and offers hours and hours of sheer fun. Only a slight impersonality of singleplayer and not very functional link to the RaceNet network prevents a higher score.

It’s testament to Codemasters’ calibre as a developer that they have so successfully revitalised a sport that’d been forgotten in games.

DiRT Rally is easily the most realistic racing game I have ever played. It punishes you for your mistakes, but at the same time encourages you to keep going. While it may scare away the more casual players, racing fans will surely find something to like here.

While there is not a ton of content, there is more than enough to keep a racer busy and the quality of said content is spectacular.

Codemasters has been making rally games since the original PlayStation era, but it is now closer than ever to perfecting its craft.

DiRT Rally, then, isn't a true successor to the DiRT series you might know and love, but it's a better rally experience if you're willing to put in the work.

Dirt Rally gets Codemasters back to their roots, with a game that focuses on rallying through and through. It’s tough and unforgiving of your mistakes, but that’s what rallying is about and it makes getting to grips with the car’s handling, measuring your approach to a stage and coming out on top all the more satisfying.

Despite a few issues, Dirt Rally is a triumphant return to form for Codemasters. The PS4 version arrives as a slightly more fleshed-out package at release and its technical performance is admirable. It's still mightily difficult, but if you're a rally enthusiast or even just have a passing interest in a challenging racing game, you can’t go wrong with Dirt Rally.

DiRT Rally brings back the entertainment to the genre, giving us time to take pleasure in fine tuning and conquering each race, just like in Colin McRae. If this is the direction in which Codemasters will keep heading, we have high hopes for the next game in the series.
