Nov 20, 2020Destiny 2 Beyond Light has turned the universe we know and love on its head by removing four major locations, five raids, outdated activities, and the sunsetting of weapons and gear. While the removal of content may seem negative, this is what the game needs to grow. Destiny 2 Beyond Light gives us a great story and an exciting new subclass with Stasis, and a huge new location in Europa. Bungie has made some hard choices to restructure Destiny 2 rather than restart the game completely with Destiny 3. What's on the horizon is something I truly cannot wait for, and I am excited to experience everything the game has to throw at me. While the Darkness is finally here, the future is bright for Destiny 2, and Beyond Light is only the tip of the iceberg.

Dec 5, 2020Destiny 2: Beyond the Light offers hours of new content, with an entertaining main story and a new subclass to further expand the variety of playstyles.

Playstation Official Magazine UKDec 14, 2020Come for the change of scenery, stay for the change of abilities. Even if you don’t usually enjoy the grind, you should end up warming to this chilly package.[Issue#183, p.97]

Dec 6, 2020Beyond Light presents itself very much in the same fashion as the previous couple of Destiny 2 expansions: rough, but extremely lovable. No one can blame you for crying over your sunset Mountaintop or the inability to run the Menagerie, sure, but hey, there’s a bunch of really cool questlines ahead, a fantastic whole side drama for the Clovis Bray family and a really fun raid experience. So, at the end of the day, that’s just how Bungie makes content.
-
Dec 4, 2020Beyond Light feels like a sequel reset without all the baggage of starting from scratch. New powers and a shakeup in playable areas revitalize the formula for returning players, but detractors still won’t be won over.
-
Nov 27, 2020Beyond Light delivers one of the best raids in Destiny history and some of the best story moments in Destiny 2, and that's more than enough to make up for a few disappointing gaps.
-
Nov 24, 2020There will be work to do to ensure that Beyond Light’s content remains interesting for an entire year and that Stasis is kept in check, but overall Destiny 2: Beyond Light is a solid effort from Bungie and is a worthwhile expansion to pick up for anyone that enjoys the series.
-
Nov 24, 2020Beyond Light isn't going to change anyone's mind about Destiny 2. Either you love the weekly grind, the increasingly complex lore, and pushing your mates off a ledge in a Raid, or you don't. For those who do, there's a lot to discover and plenty to grind for with the added benefit of the reworked game engine. They, like myself, will no doubt be sinking hundreds of hours into this over the next year. A solid, well executed update to Destiny 2, with even more content on the horizon.
-
Nov 19, 2020Beyond Light is a great expansion that shines thanks to the introduction of the stasis, a new and fun power that promises to changes everything. If you also love the lore and want to know a lot more about the Destiny universe, this expansion is for you.
-
Nov 26, 2020It doesn’t change the reality that Destiny 2 feels greatly stripped back at the moment, even with the addition of several new ventures in these early weeks of Beyond Light. As an expansion, Beyond Light introduces some captivating narrative beats and missions, but it’s not enough all on its own to carry the load of the Destiny universe. I’m left ambivalent, with plenty of enthusiasm for the new content, and excitement about what comes next, but also the sense that for the first time, my longtime hobby game feels lesser than before.
-
Nov 15, 2020Beyond the Light is an extension that delivers an experience at the border between excellence and inertia. On the one hand, Bungie delivers many answers for its universe and for the fans, and offers an incredibly beautiful new destination, but on the other, it is clear that the studio has not changed the formula it initiated several years ago one iota.
-
Nov 15, 2020Beyond Light launches Destiny 2’s fourth year. The formula could seem worn out in its mechanics, but the inclusion of Stasis, Europa, and a new raid, are enough reasons to return to Bungie’s shooter and discover what other surprises await in the near future of the franchise. Newcomers will find hours of content. And the veterans, the perfect excuse to come back.
-
Dec 30, 2020Destiny 2: Beyond Light is not a revolution in the gameplay department and world of Destiny 2, but it can pleasantly entertain you for a while – basic shooter formula of the game still works perfectly.
-
Nov 23, 2020Destiny 2 Beyond Light adds a descent campaign with a good narrative, and a lot of hours of play for the bravest players.
-
Nov 30, 2020Beyond Light is especially worthwhile if you're not demanding that many substantial changes from Destiny 2 and you're over-invested in the franchise's lore. If you're more interested in Beyond Light because you're hoping for a new era of Destiny 2, you'll come home from a rude awakening.
-
Nov 27, 2020Beyond Light's lack of new content, combined with the massive amounts of vaulted content, left the game in a horribly empty and plain state.
