Quite possibly the WORST game i have ever played. Absilutrky terrible servers that are constantky timing out, and when it does work, the lag is ridiculous. Very terrible story thst seems like a high school wrote. Dome of the worst enemy AI youll ever find, and some of the eorst character models youll ever find. Its good for a laugh though, at the pure incompetemce. Stay away from this poorQuite possibly the WORST game i have ever played. When first starting Defiance 2050, one was over enthralled. Despite that the game being based on a defunct TV show, I had considerable pleasure in its original release. The world was expansive, the microtransactions were at a minimum, lots of group raids, and a lot of the progression felt streamlined to minimize the grind. I stopped playing as most do to for other games I wanted to try. When first starting Defiance 2050, one was over enthralled. When this game was announced for the PS4, I was pretty excited as it could be a fallback free to play experience one could enjoy on their own time. Holy hell was I wrong. The game has been completely overhauled to beg for cash, its laggy, buggy, graphically ugly, and highly unstable. During the first couple of sessions, one was either unable to join a server, or it crashed. I still am giving it a five because of a decent gaming loop and okay third-person action...when it works. All and all even free to play is too expensive for this game.

The original game was made in service to the players while this version is more of a remake thrown together to encourage in-game transactions. they took away the freedom with the class system which originally allowed players to mix and match up to 10 different sub-abilities while having one of four main abilities including cloak, hologram, sprint, and overcharge. A players main ability determines their playstyle and the sub-abilities all them to flesh out that ability to more suit their experience while still remaining balanced. the way they did the classes in 2050 made some classes extremely overpower while others were drastically underpowered. Defiance 2050 removed a lot of the extra stories that were available while you played the original game and instead add them into the main storyline, which one, absolutely breaks the pacing of the story itself, but two makes the game feel more linear and pushes the grind to the extreme. In the original game, there wasn't an ego level cap and then a power score, you just had a power score that would slowly grow stronger as you play, rather than based off a players gear. in defiance 2050, each area has a specific power level for the enemies, if players are below this level, then the enemy is far stronger, but if a player is above the power level, the enemy is just as difficult as if the player was on the same level whereas the original defiance, if a players power score is above the enemies, they are a lot stronger. the grind for the games is about the same but the original game made the grind feel less grindy because they made it so once you were strong enough to beat the story the first time, it wasn't nearly as hard as defiance 2050 is, you could replay the story over and over and all enemies after this point (that are spawned by the story missions that is) are on par with the character, so that its difficult enough to keep it interesting but not so difficult that players can't beat it again. All rewards continued to progress as the player did and the game was a lot fairer with loot at the end of a public event in the original. even releasing five years later on a newer console, the graphics are still the same as the original. They also really dumbed down the game by taking away grenade charges and replacing them with a recharging grenade. this small resource management aspect added so much to the gameplay because if I'm going to die in a situation, I would rather it be because I didn't use my five grenades wisely enough rather than because I spent 45 seconds waiting for my next grenade. it seems the only thing Defiance 2050 managed to do was dumb down the gameplay on a once great game Expand

Defiance 2050 is fun to muck around in for a couple of hours, but its lack of polish and outdated graphics severely hold it back from even getting close to the level of its current competition.

Defiance 2050 is a game I can get lost in and enjoy several hours in at a time, but it’s mindless shooting and grinding that is the least difficult kind of gaming experience to locate in 2018.
