The game sucks. The only good thing in this game is the music, the world is bad, you climb some mountains of destroyed rocks, no beauty, the port on the pc was completely ditched, the gameplay is boring, you just pull the load, EVERYTHING! The plot sucks!

The way Sam interacts with the environment is very satisfying and the way they introducte new tools to transverse the map also helped to maintain a bit of freshness + the soundtrack also made a considerable mark on me, to say the least ... yet it stills fails to provide a game in which I could actually be fully entertained most of the time because of its story's pacing.

The plot, which even if somewhat convoluted, was very intriguing, thought provoking and emotional, but most of its actual content is literally dumped onto us in the last 2 to 3 hours of the game.

Hyped to see if that gets better on Death Stranding 2!

Even though I got tired of the gameplay towards the end, I have very fond memories of this game. This is a game that stays with you long after you have finished it. Hideo Kojima showed he is a very good writer, although all the backtracking I had to do, lugging all the parcels around got tiring towards the end. Not a perfect game, but worth playing due to brilliant story and characters and world.

Great graphics! Story can be a bit odd at times, and they explain everything in a Kingdom Hearts 3 fashion. This game also has clunky controls! it is a relaxing game to play there's just some problems with it. (also Kojima is kind of an egotist saying that if you like this game you have "good taste") 6/10 I wouldn't recommend this to anyone because they might get bored.

Saying that it is a game you should give a chance if you think you’d be open to it, I gave up after 8 hours of my first play through but picked it up again over lockdown and loved it, easily my favourite game of the year and one of my favourites of all time. Gameplay can be described as a walking sim which is true to an extent. But it is more about building networks both with other players and within the world itself and planning out deliveries. Though sparse the world is beautiful to travel through and the idea is once you have made a trip a few times by foot you should have built enough infrastructure to make the trip faster each time. Gameplay and story and well interlinked and once it has you hooked it is very absorbing despite all the walking. The story and acting although not perfect and can tend to be a bit cheesy are exceptionally well done. I would go as far to say this is a masterpiece, though as said before it will not be appreciated but everyone. The soundtrack... it is best experienced within the game as it really elevates those moments but if you don’t like the game and aren’t going to finish it or aren’t even going to get it then just listen to the soundtrack as it is exceptional. It does feel that people tend to complain that most games nowadays are all the same but then when a new concept comes along it gets hated in for being different. So even if you don’t like Death Stranding I hope you can appreciate it for trying something new.

I can see why a lot of people don`t like the game. It is not a fast-paced game full of action. It`s a planning game. You`re going on a trip, what do you need to bring, will you take the long walk or try to climb the mountain? I`ve enjoyed it, I mean, I`m not gonna play it again, but I didn`t find it hard to complete the game. The secondary quests are not very interesting in general. The story is a real 10 on 10, the game itself is more like a 6-7.

I received this game as a gift for Christmas, and I have to say I was looking forward to play it. But barely got 2 hours of playtime. The whole walking around get boring. And when that black rain, comes it becomes more like a run for your life, instead of fighting. Maybe I need more time to play, to undertand what's going on. But I got bored really quickly.

I went into this wanting a different and unique experience and I wasn't disappointed. Props to the team for taking a bold step and creating a game designed to bring people together even though it's not a guaranteed formula for success. This is a very meditative experience which really benefits from you completely immersing yourself in the world, its lore and the characters. The story takes a while to get going as the universe has already been established for its characters so you do have to make a bit of an extra effort reading through some interview data you can acquire in the game to flesh it out further (as it can get a bit convoluted at times). But you can opt not to, and the game's story still stands on its own as one man's journey to unite America in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event. It does drag on a bit towards the end though which annoyed me somewhat, but I was already so invested in the story of the characters that it didn't turn me off so much. The combat is quite basic and the stealth mechanics are basically "crouch in tall grass or hide behind something" levels of simple as much of the mechanics are based on traversing the environment, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it fits into the flow of the game. It does however become more noticeable during the few segments where you are forced into combat with bosses, the user interface suffers when faced with these events. Traversing the environments during the first two chapters is also quite the chore and may turn off some people, but if you stick with it until the third chapter everything changes. Suddenly other players are able to affect your world, and it's through everyone's combined efforts that the game world really opens up and you are able to experience what the developers really intended. Those first few hours were designed to show you just how tough it is to play this game on your own. You really feel alone and the monumental task ahead of you seems so bleak it just drains you emotionally, but then people start chipping in to make life less and less hellish for everybody else that even though Sam and BB are the only two characters you see for almost all of the game, you never feel alone. Definitely play this online as it will wildly affect your experience.
Play this game. If the concept for you sounds interesting, if it really makes you feel like you want to dive in and experience it for yourself then by all means do it. I almost wrote this of on release as a pretentious concept but I was wrong. I enjoyed it, I really did. Don't be dissuaded by what most people are saying and experience the game for yourself.

Death Stranding is a unique game, an ambitious project that does not respect any convention and innovates the gaming standard principles in multiple ways, bringing new groundbreaking ways to tell a story and to define gameplay. Death Stranding takes a very risky approach when not deciding to adder to the same old succeeding game recipe. But Kojima succeeded with a very disputable game that is not for everyone, a game that was, for me, a little bit too long and hard to finish (not referring at the gameplay difficulty), I’ve had my doubts mid-way through the game, but I decided to stay and finish it, and GOD am I glad I did, the ending was from another world.
As some critics said the only bad ending of the Death Strand is to bail the game. I know it can be a little hard sometimes, but please stay with it and finish it, because it will deliver a thousand times in the last 4 hours of the game.

The story is brilliant, it’s straight much better than a novel, every aspect of the story is well thought and refined. Kojima had this baking for a long long time, in the end, everything is tied up, no plot holes are left, and you see crystal clear what was all about. Death Stranding takes the player to a confusion road, from start to the end, you can say the story is somehow based on confusion. After 35 hours on constant confusion and disorientation, the 4-hour ending hits the player right where it’s supposed to and leaving a feeling that cannot be described, that mind-blowing, boggling feeling combined with saddens and many more overwhelming emotions is the biggest reason I love so much video games. Kojima nails 100% the ending, even now a month after I finished the game when I am writing this review I started to cry when I thought about the ending, so beautiful so sad so marvellous so good.

One of the biggest reasons why the game has such a strong emotional impact is the use of licensed music plus the songs that are made especially for Death Stranding. A good soundtrack changes the game, and Death Stranding is a great example, I hope more games will use licensed music in the future. The songs are well picked and pop up exactly at the right moment, and I can say clearly that 50% of this game is made solely by the soundtrack, as to think it makes a bigger impact than the graphics or the gameplay altogether.
The ending of the game is a piece of art, a symphony where the music is combined with storytelling and graphics and one of the best character animations that I have ever seen. That symbiosis of all those elements creates the overwhelming emotion that the player experience during the last hours of the game.

The graphics are exquisite, the fidelity of the characters is on the top, the facial expressions and the character models look like they are almost real, I played the game on my RTX 2070 Super on 4k with HDR, and I was amazed every minute of the game looks.

For the gameplay, I can say that it is innovative, and I was amazed, I’ve had the feeling that it will be a boring game but the gameplay is fun and rewarding, I had no moment where I was bored during my 35 hours of gameplay.

I cannot leave some aspects that the game dose wrong. The story is so good, but the game could be much better, what I did dislike is that during mid-game the immersion is lost. I can structure the game in 3 stages, the starting off the game and the ending are high immersion but the middle loses some of that immersion and it starts to feel like a bad game. The thing that I dislike the most is that Sam does not talk that much during mid-game, it feels stiff, rigid. There are some moments where I am asking myself, am I supposed to feel something during this scene? There are some moments in the middle of the game where the game fails to transmit even the slightest emotion. As also the other side characters during mid-game fill rigid and lifeless.

But even if I’ve had my doubts during the middle of the game, I am glad that I stayed to the end to see one of the most filled with emotions ending in the game storytelling world and I encourage you to give the game a chance and to play till the ending, and after that to make an opinion on the game.

In conclusion, the recipe for Death Stranding is an original and complicated one that is based on story, music, and graphics. A recipe that delivers 100% in the end and makes Death Stranding a must-play, and the best game made ever by Hideo Kojima, simply you cannot find another similar title.

I don't really know how to score this game. First of all, there's no other game like it anywhere, so A+ for originality and some of the more advanced delivery techniques. That whole system is pretty well-designed.

Where do you even start? The story is a mixed bag. It's the standard Kojima story. It's super weird and not straight-forward. This game suffers from a similar problem as other games with a massive amount of side quests and optional tasks (Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, for example). That problem being that you spend 90% of your game experience doing side quests and trying to discover everything so you very slowly progress through main story points. As a result, the overall flow of the story is just a mess and you end up forgetting what the last plot detail was since it was 5 or 6 hours of game time before you get to the next one. Can you just plow through and avoid all the side stuff until the post-game? Sure, but that's not how most people go through it I suspect.

The controls are fairly good. A lot of effort went into trying to make the physics as realistic as possible. Except shoe wear. Seriously, you can 3D print an underground shelter in 30 seconds, but you can't make a pair of boots that lasts for more than 30 minutes of walking? Combat is obviously very limited and the camera can be a bit clunky, but it's no worse than anything else. You can just tell a lot of thought went into inventory management and strategy, so that's really executed well. BT encounters are particularly intense, but after half the game, I found it easier to just run through them and if I got caught, just run until I was outside the little battle area and the Timefall would be gone temporarily.

What's not so great? It's just sort of - boring. Everything is pretty much the same. Yes, the environments change, but the preppers and locations all seem alike. It's always the exact same tasks (Deliver Items from Point A to Point B). Once you get through the game and start grinding for trophies, get ready for a boring and frustrating grind. You essentially have to rebuild all or most of the roads as well as expertly design region-wide networks of zip lines. The catch is that the bandwidth to build zip lines is limited (use online ones to help) and to get the premium deliveries, you have to play in hard mode - meaning your structures will deteriorate quickly. The roads will enable you to safely load massive weight deliveries onto a truck and drive them long distances to get the maximum rewards. Otherwise you'll do what seems like dozens and dozens of smaller deliveries to try to max out the connection with each location.

Here's the problem, though: It's just not really fun. It's repetitive and boring. All that time and effort went into crafting this really amazing system, the physics, the strategy, the customization, but then the actual game play suffered. If that even makes sense. So yes, I wasted at least 100 hours on this game, but I certainly didn't particularly enjoy doing it. Final verdict: Not terrible, but not good either.

Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it. This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
